World of Tanks Guide - Grille

  • Grille - German Tier V Self-Propelled Gun

Tank Presentation

The Grille is one of the most played SPGs in the game. The power and range of its gun make it the perfect choice for fans of the artillery. To give you a little history, this vehicle was built using the chassis of another German tank, the Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) – a Tier III light tank. A real star of WoT, has a much lesser role during the Second World War since only 282 units were constructed, between 1943 and 1944.

Aspects of the Gameplay

Contrary to what some say, it is not as easy as that to play well with the SPGs. The aim of the game is to do a lot of damage, without being seen by the enemy.

Question of positioning: avoid places that are too obvious, instead choose unusual places, where the enemies will not come looking for you. Be careful not to have a building/terrain ahead of you. The best place is a slightly elevated spot, with quick access to a covered place.

Question of focus: You can try to focus the enemy SPGs if your support is not needed on another front. The counter SPG consists of predicting the positions of your enemies. If you see from a shell come out, just shoot: you have the chance of eliminating an SPG. Also note that you have a good chance of nuking a light tank if you can hit it. However, if it is constantly loving it would be better to focus on another target so you can be sure to make a hit.

Remember that your recharge time is rather long, try to hit when you are almost certain of reaching your target. Remember that an enemy behind a hill is sometimes easier to hit an enemy in front of it.

Strong Points/Weak Points

Strong Points
The Grille does an awful lot of damage. Your range will let you hit in any direction without a problem. A very good power/mobility ratio. Once equipped with the 15 cm s.F.H. 13 L/17 you will do a lot of harm.

Weak Points
A regrettably slow rate of fire. The traverse arc is one of the weakest in the game. Unless you move you can only shot a limited degree of angles. The first gun is really very average.

Pimp my Ride: What equipment to choose?

Buying Order

Without any doubt, I advise you to invest as soon as possible in the 15 cm s.F.H. 13 L/17. The first gun is very average in terms of damage, while the second is really incredible for a tank of this tier. Then take the second radio (the last is really not bad with a range of 710m, but the cost – 7200? - could slow down our other ambitions). I don't consider buying an engine as being a priority for the SPGs in general.

Guns

• 15 cm s.I.G. 33 L/11 : The first gun is isn't great in terms of damage: 350/450/300. While its rate of fire is a bit faster, you should abandon it as soon as possible.

• 15 cm s.F.H. 13 L/17 : The terror of the battlefield. It's time for a torrent of OS, reaping medals in all directions. You go from 350 to 680 average damage with a slightly faster focus speed (6.5 to 6 sec).

Equipment

Invest in these 3 essential pieces of equipment, if you can, as a general rule for all SPGs:

• Enhanced Gun Laying Drive

• Artillery Shell Rammer

• Camouflage Net
