World of Tanks Guide - T1 Cunningham

  • T1 Cunningham - American Tier 1 Light Tank

Tank Presentation

The T1 Cunningham was developed by James Cunningham & Son Company in the late 30s. Used as a prototype and basis for many other tanks, this tank there was never produced in large numbers. However, in World of Tanks, it is undoubtedly the most popular tier I vehicle for a simple reason: in tournament matches with a limited tier cap, light tank players choose the Cunningham as its small size and speed make it an effective scout. As such, the tier points will be saved for other tanks of the team.

Aspects of the Gameplay

The T1 Cunningham is by far the fastest Tier I tank. With a speed of 41 km/h, you will easily turn the heads of the other tankists. The golden rule is to play on this ability and to never stop if you get unveiled.

Another big highlight of your tank: you are the only one in this Tier to have a semi-automatic gun. This powerful weapon has 5 rounds of bullets, and recharges like a French autoloader (you can string five rounds together very quickly, but the cooldown for the next 5 will be significantly higher). The trick is to wait until your enemy exposes his flanks and rear, and then try to quickly send all you've got. When your magazine is empty, go back into hiding until the end of the recharge time.

Remember that you are very poorly armoured. Even Tier I tanks can take you down quite easily. It is therefore necessary at all costs to avoid direct combat and often choose to flee if you are not sure of winning.

Note that very few maps are available at this Tier (Malinovka, Himmelsdorf, Minez, Province). If you opt for a camouflage, choose a summer standard. Otherwise you can't make use of it.

Strong Points/Weak Points

Strong Points
Very good speed and acceleration. The fastest of Tier I. A very short gun recharge. Excellente firing rate. Is small and can weave in and out of enemy lines easily.

Weak Points
You are very weak. Your gun will only damage to other Tier 1 tanks.

Pimp my Ride: What equipment to choose?

Buying Order

You already have a very good speed. It woudl be good to purchase the engine quickly for even more fun, but I would recommend investing first in the gun branch to quickly unlock the 20 mm Hispano-Suiza and 37 mm Browning. You will have the choice to customize your weapon to your style of play: a shower of pellets or a big hit. The radio should be the next piece of equipment to unlock. Finally, invest in the engine. However, research for Tier I tanks is so inexpensive that you can easily unlock all in a very short time.

Gun

• 20 mm Hispano-Suiza / This gun does very little damage but has an incredible rate for a Tier I (78.3 to 120 shots/min). It is an effective weapon to harras an opponent. However the damage is low (12).

• 37 mm Browning / This semi-automatic really hurts for its Tier. (30/36 damage). Although the firing rate is not bad, it is still much slower than the Hispano-Suiza (30-39 shots/min rather than 78.3 to 120).

Radio

• SCR 200 / Get rid of your first radio as soon as possible to get one with a decent signal (265m instead of 90m).

Engine

• Cunningham V8 / You will go from 110 to 132Hp. You are a light tank, it's always useful.
