War of the Fallen is a card battle game where players will take on the role of a shardbreaker, a special type of warrior that can call upon monsters to do their bidding. They can fight for one of three different races as they embark on a journey to save the land of Tyreon by going on quests and improving their decks. Having a good collection of monsters is vital, as well as the ability to organize them for both good attacking and defending formations.
Gameplay
War of the Fallen involves collecting cards and enhancing your collection so that you will be more formidable in battle. Managing your own statistics as well as that of your monster cards are essential to ensure victory. Battle is very quick and requires very little player intervention, but arranging your cards and taking advantage of skill triggers are very important to improve the chances of success.
Currency
Gold and gems are the main currency within War of the Fallen. Like most games, gold can be used to buy regular items and must also be spent for evolving and strengthening cards. Gold can be earned by defeating monsters in quests as well as battling other players. Take note, however, that you can also lose coins if other players defeat you.
Gems, on the other hand, are for buying premium items like energy or mana potions as well as card packs containing rare creatures. Gems are purchased using real life currency; with the deal becoming better the more money that you spend.
Stamina
Stamina serves as the energy within the game. This is required when attacking monsters during the game. Stamina replenishes fairly quickly, but you can also use potions to refill your stamina instantly. The maximum amount of stamina that a player can have can be increased by spending skill points.
Attack
Attack is the ability of the player to do battle with other players. Attack will never be larger than your maximum mana capacity, and the total amount of mana for your entire attack deck will be deducted from your attack gauge each time you battle other players. Like stamina, Attack also replenishes over time or can be refilled instantly using potions.
Mana
Mana is the cost of adding creatures to your deck. Each monster has a mana cost, and you must have enough mana to accommodate them all. Mana capacity can be increased using skill points, allowing you to put more powerful cards into your deck.
Leveling Up
Like most games, War of the Fallen has a leveling up system whenever players go on quests or attack other players. whenever players level up, they will be rewarded with skill points that they can assign to increase either their stamina, attack, or mana capacity. Leveling up will also completely refill your stamina and attack meter.
Cards
Cards are the main way that you do battle within War of the Fallen. Each card has attack points, defend points, and mana cost. Balancing each is a main requirement when doing quests and battling other players. Players may also strengthen cards by sacrificing weaker creatures, which will increase the target card’s level, as well as evolving them. Evolving involves combining two similar cards to form a stronger card, one which has a higher maximum level cap.
Some cards also have skills that have a probability of triggering during battles. This only happens during PvPs, however, and not during quests. Thus, knowing the trigger conditions and arranging them to take advantage of these is very essential in a fight. In addition, cards that belong to the same kingdom as your leader card, which is basically the card that you do boss battles with, will provide stat boosts to all other cards during PvP battles.
In addition, excess cards may be sold off if you don’t want to sacrifice or evolve them. This is also a great way to earn some extra coins or if you want to free up your card capacity.
Forging
Forging is another way to acquire powerful cards, although it would require some work. Forging requires sets of treasures to be collected which can come from enemy drops and as rewards from battles with other players. Simply select on the card that you want to create and start collecting on the required treasures to be able to initiate the forging process.
Questing
Questing will require players to go through different areas of the realm and defeat a specific number of enemies, after which they would be allowed to battle the boss. Lower level enemies will not fight back, and you can continue fighting as long as you have stamina. You are also required to bring all five of your attack cards with you as they will take turns attacking the enemies, which you will initiate by tapping on the monster. Monsters will drop cards, treasures, coins, and other items once defeated, and players can collect bonus cards if all rewards have been collected from the realm.
For boss battles, however, combat will only take place between your leader card and the enemy. The boss will also be able to attack you, and you must either escape or use items to regain your health if you lose the battle. You can increase your chances of winning and moving on to the next realm by having a powerful card as well as calling upon allies which will provide you with boosts so that you will have an easier time defeating the boss.
PvP
PvP has two modes, namely attacking and defending. Each battle is just basically comparing between the attacker’s attack total versus the defender’s defense total, although skill triggers also come into play here. Thus, being able to have high stat totals with cards within your mana capacity – and being able to rely on a little bit of luck so that skills may be triggered – is essential for both attacking and defending.
Players can battle other players either for treasures, which can be used when forging, as well as for glory, the latter of which will fly them to the top of the online leaderboard. Players can also both win or lose treasures or coins whenever they are defeated in battle, so having a strong attack and defense deck arranged, and improving them whenever the opportunity presents itself, is always essential.
Social
War of the Fallen also has a social function where players can invite friends as allies. This will provide players with good rewards, such as a higher chance of triggering skills, and this will also help in strengthening their stats in battle through skill points and other boosts.
