Hearthstone Guide: Basic Warrior Deck

Garrosh isn't into subtlety and neither is this deck! The aim will be to put pressure on your opponent with a lot of creatures as well as your powerful weapons. The Warrior has few control spells but this problem will soon become one for your opponent. It's probably the simplest base deck to play with and is a good way to see if the Warrior is for you.

The Key Cards

The weapons are an integral part of the Warrior gameplay in this deck and will be a serious advantage that will allow you to get ahead. The key cards lean towards one objective: dominating the opponent and not giving him any respite. You also have something to control the board and shelter your HP.

• Execute

This is the card that will allow you to rid yourself of the big enemy creatures and turn the game around. The disadvantage is obviously that the health of the minion are affected, but this is compensated by its low cost in mana. We recommend you keep this card in your hand if offered it at the start of the game.

• Arcanite Reaper

A very powerful weapon that will quite simply give you 10 attack over two turns. Its advantage is obviously that it can be used immediately, but also that it is a difficult arm to counter, unless your opponent brings out a Swamp Ooze of course. So you can almost certainly deal all the attack points, to control the board or directly attack the enemy hero.

• Kor'Kron Elite

As you can guess, the appeal of this card isn't really in its statistics but its ability to charge. Charge allows you to have an immediate impact and be sure the card will have an effect. Otherwise, it's a 4/3 for 4 mana which will allow you to clear the board or create some pressure.

• Fiery War Axe

Here we have the little sister of Arcanite Reaper. It's basic statistics are very good for a 2 mana card and it obviously also has the advantage of being a weapon. This means an immediate effect and an almost assured use.

• Shield Block

This card will bide you time with your opponent thanks to 5 armour points which will allow you to ignore some of the enemy damage. The main appeal of the card is of course the fact that it allows you to draw a card. It is essential that you always have one or more 'draw' cards in your deck.

The Full Deck

The rest of the deck is made up of some quite classic cards, with taunts and several creatures that will ensure a good late game. The gradual increase in mana should also allow you, ideally, to deal one card per turn. Don't forget the aim with this basic Warrior deck: take your opponent by the throat.

Standard moves of a game

Turn 1

Unfortunately, as with a lot of basic decks, turn 1 is very weak. You will have to wait for the next turn!

Turn 2

In priority you should start with Fiery War Axe to clear the board or tickle your opponent's health points.

Turn 3

Here go with Ironfur Grizzly if things are going well, or draw with Shield Block if you don't have good cards.

Turn 4

The Chillwind Yeti will very often be the best choice, however even if preferred, use Kor'kron Elite if the situation is right and your opponent's health has already been nicely lowered.

Turn 5+

Priority to Arcanite Reaper in all cases. Use cards that require a lot of things on the board if you have manage to install a lot of cretures.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The + of the deck

 Free!
 Weapons to create pressure.
The chance to smother your opponent.

The - of the deck

Doesn't work with the Hero Power.
 Requires a good starting hand.
A Starter Deck, so weak against decks built from very big cards.
