Guide Varus League of Legends S6

Living Vengeance

(Innate): On champion kill or assist, Varus gains 40% attack speed for 6 seconds.

On minion kill, Varus gains 20% attack speed for 3 seconds.

Tips :

The colour of the bow shows that Varus has his passive ready.

A permanent steroid in the lane!

   Attack!

A very powerful passive that will make you strong in trades. When you kill a sbire or a champion, your bow lights up, indicating that you have a speed attack bonus. If you kill a champion the bonus will be greater than if you kill a sbire.

During the lane phase you should not attempt to aggress your opponents if this passive is not active. Abandoning this passive will give you an enormous handicap when engaging in a trade and will probably mean the difference between a kill for you and a firstblood for your enemies.

Piercing Arrow (Q)

(First Cast): Varus starts drawing back his next shot, gradually increasing its range and damage.

(Second Cast): Varus fires, dealing physical damage, reduced by 15% per enemy hit (minimum 33%).

While preparing to shoot, Varus cannot auto-attack or use abilities, and his movement speed is slowed by 20%. After 4 seconds, Piercing Arrow fails but refunds half its cost of mana.

  • Range: 850 - 1475
  • Projectile Speed: 1900
Tips :

If you do not cast the spell then you can recover some of the arrow's mana.

A good spell for a sniping!

   Phew!

The Piercing Arrow lets Varus inflict damages on his opponents during the lane phase and also when his enemies are hidden in the Fog of War. The spell also activates the charge of Blighted Quiver and does not cost much mana if you decide not to cast it.

The arrow serves many purposes including pushing / depushing the lane, harassing the opponent and bursting during a trade. Don't hesitate to abuse the range of this spell by inflicting surprise damages on your opponents (through the bush or the Fog of War).

Don't forget that the skill costs the same in mana whether it is charged or uncharged. It is therefore best to charge the skill each time before using it to deal the maximum damage to your opponent.

    Cooldown: 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 / 8 seconds

    Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana

    Minimum Damage: 10 / 43 / 77 / 110 / 143 (+1.0 per attack damage)

    Maximum Damage: 15 / 65 / 115 / 165 / 215 (+1.6 per attack damage)

    Minimum Diminished: 3.3 / 14.3 / 25.7 / 36.7 / 47.7 (+0.33 per attack damage)

    Maximum Diminished: 5 / 21.7 / 38.3 / 55 / 71.7 (+0.53 per attack damage)

Blighted Quiver (W)

(Passive): Varus' basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds (stacks 3 times).

Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage equal to a percentage of the target's maximum health per stack. This damage is capped against monsters.

    Tips :

The number of spheres indicated the number of stacks.

    More stacks = more damages!

       *BLING BLING*

With each auto-attack that hits a target, Varus applies an effect of the Blighted Quiver. He cannot apply more than three effects at the same time on the same target, but he can mark several targets at once.

These marks let you deal magic damage as a percentage of the targets max HP. If the target is affected by three marks the damage will be tripled.

To activate these marks, Varus needs to use one of his spells against the enemy targets: either Piercing Arrow, Hail of Arrows or Chain of Corruption.

      On-hit Damage: 10 / 14 / 18 / 22 / 26 (+0.25 per ability power)

      Blight Damage per Stack: 2 / 2.75 / 3.5 / 4.25 / 5% (+1% per 50 ability power)

    Hail of Arrows (E)

(Active): Varus fires a hail of arrows that deals physical damage and desecrates the ground for 4 seconds.

Desecrated Ground reduces healing effects by 50% and slows enemy movement speed.

    • Cost: 80 mana
    • Range: 925
    Tips :

The area effect of the Hail of Arrows lets you zone opponents.

    To reduce heals!

       Health reforms!

Hail of Arrows allows Varus to inflict zone damages on his opponents, to reduce heals by 50% and reducing movement speed by up to 45%

When against a hero with a heal in teamfight, this zone attack provides a lot of support due to its reduction of movement speed and heals. You can deal with a lot of opponents and push your lane more easily against heros like Soraka.

Also, as with Piercing Arrow, your Hail of Arrows can activate the charge of Blighted Quiver to inflict more damage on your opponent.

      Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds

      Physical Damage: 65 / 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage)

      Slow Percentage: 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 %

    Chain of Corruption (R)

(Active): Varus flings out a tendril of corruption that deals magic damage and immobilizes the first enemy champion hit for 2 seconds.

The corruption then spreads towards nearby uninfected enemy champions, applying the same damage and immobilize if it reaches them after 2 seconds. The corruption will continue to spread until there are no further unaffected targets in range.

    • Cost: 120 mana
    • Range: 1075
    • Projectile Speed: 2000
    • Spread range: 550
    • Tendril break range: 600
    Tips :

Your ultimate is practically invisible with Varus' skin.

A very good ultimate to engage!

       Corruption spreads!

Chain of Corruption is Varus' ultimate. This chain lets you block an opponent for 2 seconds before spreading to other nearby enemies (if there are any).

This means that the chain will allow you to block several opponents if they are packed together, something that often happens in a teamfight. In this way it is similar to Morgana's ultimate as it often forces opponents to spread out so that they do not get rooted.

As with Varus' other 2 abilities, his ultimate lets him consume the stacks of Blighted Quiver to inflict damage, depending on the max HP of the target.

      Cooldown: 120 / 105 / 90 seconds

      Magic Damage: 150 / 250 / 350 (+1.0 per ability power)

    Pros

A zone debuff that is anti-heal

    Good throughout the game

A good range with his spells and flat attacks

The A can recover some mana if it is not all used up

Powerful against champions who are not very mobile

    Cons

    No way of escape

    Very weak without survival skills

    A lot of skillshots (difficult)

    Quite slow, lacking mobility
