Players Release Heroes for Proof of Charity Donations

Heroes Released because of Charity Donations

Every once in awhile you will hear about something admirable happening in Game of War. Not often, but when you do it's a great redeeming factor for the community. For the most part GoW is ridden with wars and the inevitable negative consequences that come with that: bribery, spies, traiders, and liars.

Today, "my faith in humanity has been restored" as they say.

The founder of this great idea is Raider 777 from Helios K60, and over the last few months it's been made more and more popular by Liza 01, SchizOdin, and TheChief. Since the beginning of 2015, they have raised close to a combined $2,000.

Players with their hero captured can donate any amount to any charity of their choice. TheChief said that he is surprised by the generosity of players, especially those who don't spend on the game.

"Players who don't spend on the game, donate anywhere from $10-100 to charity."

Initially the idea was geared towards donating to the Wounded Warrior Project by Raider and Liza. It's a charity that was close to their hearts, and something that Chief could support after being in the Navy for 20+ years.

The First Ever Donation

"The idea actually came from a friend of mine (Raider who's currently taking a break from the game. He had about a year on his alter boost, so was ransoming heroes if someone asked. He would do silver, or gold gifts, whatever the person preferred.

One day there was a guy who's hero he got that told him he would really like his hero back, but had already given MZ too much money, and didn't want to give them any more.

That's when he had the idea to agree to release it for a charity donation. The guy donated $50 to the Wounded Warrior Project, and Raider released his hero. He also found that a lot more people were willing to do that for their hero release, rather than gifting or giving silver and "strengthening the enemy (MZ)."

A Lil Humor

Chief adds a little humor to the story by saying that he only offers this release option to players who send him kind mails asking for their hero, but not to those who "send the kind of mail we like to post on Line" ie. hate mail.

Schiz's Background Story

"When I first started in (ssi) and got big enough to execute, the prevailing wisdom was to release heroes for silver ransoms. I got billions that way really fueled my growth. After awhile however, silver stops being a constraint, so I didn't have any incentive to release. Then I spoke with chief and saw he was releasing for charity. Just fell in love with idea."

Many bigs are like Schiz where they get so big and have so much excess they could easily afford to give up a few heroes here and there for charity donation.

"Other players are putting money into GoW, many would buy a pack just so they could pay the silver ransom. Why not put that money to higher purpose?"

Fortunately, Schiz, Chief, Liza, and Raider haven't had an issue with too many people taking advantage of the system. Some players donate a lot and some donate a little, so they don't hold players to a certain amount.

Also, it makes Schiz "feel a little bit better about being a monster in the game. I kill and capture because I care, lol"

Let's Make This Viral

Everyone who has played Game of War has gone through some terrible experience by a player who seemed to have no heart. Unfortunately, it's hard to find many redeeming qualities from this game.

If we as a community banded together and made this viral, nothing but greatness could come from it.

SPREAD THE WORD. CHANGE THE WORLD.

Enjoy!
