Follow our tips and you won't regret.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Start up a new game and play through the tutorial sections. The Witcher games have always had tons of key binds that you really have to know to play the game, and this third release is no different.

Although many monsters in the game fully support aggressive combat, take your time with combat and actually thinking about what you're doing. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you can expect to have large packs of baddies thrown at you at once and they won't all wait for their friends to finish their attacks before beginning theirs.

We suggest not to use the lock-on system unless you're fighting monsters one on one. You'll need this freedom of camera to watch when monsters beside or behind you are attacking so that you can dodge out of their way.

In the Witcher 3, almost every mob you kill will drop some kind of loot. If you have the opportunity and the time, it is of course always best to just pick it up, but you don't have to worry about it so much. Alchemy this time works very differently from previous titles in that this time any potion/oils/bombs/etc you have will automatically be refreshed with alcohol when you meditate.

Loot all containers. Containers typically have items that are generally useful, such as crafting materials, designs/formulas, food and even gear.

If you don't have many crowns to spare, take a look a these items that are typically good investments: designs, foodstuffs, certain alchemical reagents (Arenaria, Calcium Equum, and Alcohest are just some examples), and horse gear. Visit your local blacksmith often to unload your junk), repair your weapons, and dismantle gear when you're looking to craft something.
