Intro
As the campaign starts, you’ll have your choice of either BLACK SIDE or WHITE SIDE campaigns. For the purposes of this walkthrough, we’ll start on the BLACK SIDE.
When you make your choice, you’ll appear in a large HUB area where you can find Main Missions and Free Missions.
Right away, you’ll be in combat against Killseekers. Killing enemies will earn you points, which will in turn unlock new Free Missions or Main Missions. Free Missions can be repeated as often as you like to earn more points, while Main Missions will progress the campaign’s story.
Before you fight these weak Killseekers, take a look around. There should be a purple waypoint nearby on your minimap.
Enter the circle, and press [Select/Back] to initiate the mission screen. This purple waypoint, once accepting, will begin a training simulator. It’s highly recommended you complete the training simulator before continuing into the game.
Once the training is done, clear out this first group of weak Killseekers. The Killseekers are cannon-fodder mutants, armed with torches and shocksticks. Most are slow to strike, but make note of the shocksticks, one hit will stun you.
Kill this small group of Killseekers and their reinforcements to make the first Free Mission appear. While the Free Missions are optional, they’re an easy way to earn more points and unlock the Main Missions.
Free Mission 1-1: The Killseekers
Victory Condition : Defeat 50 enemies / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 1
This mission is found down the street from your starting area, visible by the green waypoint on your minimap.
In this mission, you’ll have to simply defeat 50 incoming Killseekers in this small area. The first batch won’t put up much of a fight, but will give Jack some time to practice his fighting skills. Try using your abilities to take them all out and stay off the streets.
You’ll know why it’s a good idea to stay off the streets soon. A huge truck is running rampant through the area, if you’re hit by the truck it’ll take off most of Jack’s health while dropping off more Killseekers.
As the truck goes by, taking out the rest and more Killseekers will appear on the roof throwing molotovs. Take care of them with one of the many explosive barrels strewn about the streets. Grab a barrel and aim at the three white-suited killers. One throw of the barrel should burn these chumps up.
Pyro Killseekers will appear once you’ve taken out the rest. While their flamethrowers are dangerous, killing them will also cause an explosion that can take out any nearby Killseekers. Avoid running straight at these guys, instead jump up and use a ground pound.
One ground pound won’t kill them, but it will make their flamethrowers beep. That means they’re about to explode. No reason to finish them off, once their flamethrowers beep, move onto the next enemy.
More enemies will arrive on a flying skiff, armed with a flamethrower. Do light damage to these, and the pilot will jump off, allowing you to hijack the vehicle for yourself.
Next up will be a gang of shockstick killseekers. Watch out, you’ll know when they attack by their glow. One hit will stun you, so prioritize the shockstick mutants before dealing with the rest.
You’ll be introduced to the Executioner next. These massive monsters swing clubs around, making them dangerous and giving them pretty good reach. Remember your guard and evade techniques now, you didn’t need them against the Killseekers, but this guy is a whole different story.
While slow, they are powerful. This is a good time to stun your enemy with lethal attacks, or with Rampage. Don’t forget to lock-on, then diver left or right or guard to avoid his broad swings.
He’s all alone, so you can spend time throwing explosive barrels if you’re low on health. Defeat the big guy, and you’ll unlock the first Main Mission.
Main Mission 1-1: The King of Altambra
The orange waypoint to this mission is in the foundry just right of the purple training waypoint and the bar where you start.
The first mission pits you against the Big Bull. This is your first real fight, and you’ll mastery of those basic skills to pull out on top.
Bull likes to charge, he’ll also attempt to stun Jack with a light-light-heavy combo. Lock-on to Big Bull and be quick with those evades.
Start with your lethal abilities. One powerful weapon in your arsenal that Big Bull has a hard time dodging or countering is your lethal heavy ground pound. Jack will stab his chainsaw into Big Bull for a moment.
Keep your distance from Big Bull, he’ll also try to grab you – a problem that you haven’t had to deal with until now.
Wait for Big Bull to attack, then enter into your own combo and evading, hitting him in the back. That’s your best bet for a clean combo.
Once Big Bull is down one-quirter of health, he’ll send his Killseeker Gang to attack. They aren’t much tougher than the usual Killseekers, but these enemies will attempt to guard. Don’t forget that enough attacks, light and heavy, can break through their guard.
Defeating all the gang will earn you a health pack. Big Bull will return, but this time he’s bringing his lethal attacks to bear. You’ll need to watch out, if he uses his lethal weapon, it increases his range.
Your lethal attacks are even more useful now. Wait until Big Bull pauses between combos to attack, and don’t forget to use rampage once it becomes active. Take down the boss’ health to half, and his Pyros will appear.
Like before, the Pyros shouldn’t be an issue, but Big Bull will fight even harder as he returns. If you haven’t already, this is the best time to use rampage.
Once Big Bull is defeated, he’ll become a playable character in the Multplayer and Training modes.
Free Mission 1-2: A Chaser’s Work
Victory Condition : Bring the Bar-Bot back safely! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 1
This mission is found in the upper parts of the streets. You can access the area by climbing to the roof of the building across the bar, with the partially destroyed metal exterior stairs, and stepping onto the fans. They’ll launch Jack up.
For this mission, you’ll need to keep Bar-Bot safe. This amounts to following him to the bar, and killing any enemies that appear as quickly as possible.
Near the destroyed street, you’ll run into your first group of simple Killseekers, and few ground pounds can quickly and easily take them all out, just watch the health bar at the top of the screen. If the purple is going down, take care of the bullies attacking Bar-Bot.
The Executioner will be a problem, but use your lethal attacks to quickly get rid of the bruiser. Down the road, a truck will appear and drive toward you and Bar-Bot. Just follow the robot down the street and turn right to keep save.
Stay close to the Bar-Bot, as he runs into the back alley, a swarm of Killseekers will arrive. They aren’t hard to take out, but the swarm can quickly sap Bar-Bot’s health if you aren’t quick to get rid of them all.
Through the next alley, six molotov Killseekers will ambush you. But, they aren’t the problem – in front of the bar, a Mutant will attack.
These giants are faster than Executioners, and can regenerate limbs you’ve cut off. If you’re worried about Bar-Bot, this is when you’ll want to rampage.
Don’t ignore Bar-Bot though, a handful of Killseekers will arrive to attack Bar-Bot while you’re busy with the mutant. Kill the Killseekers, then focus on the Mutant. When the monster’s health is low, use a grab to finish it off instantly.
Main Mission 1-2: Target Sighted
Back on Beer Street, at the bar entrance, you can begin the next boss fight once you’ve earned enough points.
For this battle, you can choose either Jack or Big Bull. If you’re familiar with Big Bull, jump in! But, this battle won’t be easy.
These new enemies are fragile but dangerous, unlike the weak Killseekers. The Drones, an army of robots armed with long-range weapons. Most commonly, they’ll be equipped with grenade launchers and rifles. Keep moving to stay out of their cross-hairs, and attack quickly before they can retreat.
To avoid over-shooting them with your attacks, don’t forget to lock-on! Destroying the first group will net you a rifle. Use it to take out Drones at range.
After the Drones are defeated, a Helicopter Drone will appear. This drone is tougher than the rest, and can be difficult to reach. Target it, and wait underneath for the helicopter to deploy a series of buzzsaws for close encounters. This is the best time to strike with melee attacks, as it will be low to the ground.
As you’re rising, use a heavy attack to uppercut, launching you higher in the air. If you’re swift, you can follow-up with more mid-air attacks. Rinse and repeat a few times to defeat the drone.
Next up are Shield Drones. These close-range specialists have shotguns and shields to deal with close encounters. Don’t let them surround you, and hit the group with lethal atttacks to break through their shield’s protection, stunning them and allowing Jack (or Big Bull) to finish them off.
The Flying Drones arrive next, but shouldn’t offer too much of a challenge. Use your air attacks to knock them down, and watch out for the grenades they drop.
The Laser Drones will be a problem, especially after the bombing. The bridge will begin to collapse, dropping cars randomly throughout the level, giving you an extra headache.
Watch out for the Laser Drone’s powerful energy blast. They’re like snipers, they hide at long-range and try to take out Jack from afar. While slow to fire, they’re extremely powerful. Keep on the move and weave around as you close-in to defeat these drones.
Once defeated, their explosion will destroy any enemies nearby. The giant blasts of energy are tough to dodge while cars rain down, so if you’re having trouble, hide in an alley and wait for the cars to stop dropping.
Free Mission 1-3: Gunfight
Victory Condition : Defeat as many enemies as possible! / Time Limit: 3 Minutes / Tries: 1
This mission is fairly simple – Drones and Helicopter Drones will appear and blast Jack with everything they’ve got. But, you have access to a Rifle with infinite ammunition.
Use your Rifle to easily take out swarms of Drones, and follow the red blips on your map. Instead of attacking you, they’ll arrive all over the map, sometimes quite far away.
Eventually, the Helicopter Drones will arrive. They only take two shots to defeat. Watch out for missiles, though. As they get close, use grab to throw their missiles back at them for an easy kill.
Otherwise, keep a look around for Item Boxes. They’ll almost always contain useful gear like shields or health. Grab them whenever you can, and go on a rampage.
Main Mission 1-3: Your Favorite Pimp’s Pimp
The next main mission is located behind the bar.
The Baron is a straight up fight against an evasive boxer-style brawler. He loves to guard, and he’ll weave straight out of your attacks.
Stay away, he’ll try to get in close and grab you. If you does, quickly press guard yourself to escape, or simply attack whenever he gets close with light strikes.
Keep hammering him, and be aggressive. He’ll let you attack his guard without fighting back too hard, just pound on his guard stance until he’s stunned, making him an easy target for a lethal combo.
Once the Black Baron has lost half his health, he’ll activate Rampage Mode. To fend him off, activate your own Rampage Mode now, or save it for the end. I recommend using it now, you’ll have to defeat the Blacker Baron quickly at the end of the battle, but you’ll have time even without your lethal gauge full.
Near the end of the fight, you’ll have to defeat the Baron before an airplane crashes into the battlefield. Lock-on and go wild with your lethal strikes or pound on his shield until it breaks. He should only have a sliver of health left, and you’ll have 30 seconds to defeat him.
Don’t play defensively at the end, and you should be able to defeat the Baron. Once he’s defeated, you’ll move on to the next level.

Free Mission 2-1: Gale Force
Victory Condition : Complete 5 laps before time runs out! / Tries: 1
Find this optional mission on the large aircraft carrier. It can be reached by stepping onto the fans, just ahead and to your left, inside the large open building.
This mission is fairly simple – simply ride the vehicle through the course for five laps. Use boost during the straight-aways, and drive over the green waypoints to gain five seconds to your time.
If you’re quick enough, it’s very possible to end the race with more time on the clock than what you started with on your first try.
Main Mission 2-1: The Gargoyle Platoon
This battle starts off easy – the Gargoyles can be shot out of the sky with the minigun turret. Jump onto the turret, and zoom in with the left trigger, while you shoot with the right. Take out the first two waves, then you’ll have to deal with the true threat as the Gargoyle Drones land on the ground.
The arena features several flying drones, with one drones after another landing in sequence to engage Jack. Watch out for their quick escapes and powerful plasma blasts. The plasma attacks are slow, making them easy to evade, but the drones also come equipped with rockets.
Just like the Helicopter Drones, the rockets can be grabbed once they’re close to Jack and thrown back at your opponents.
To make matters easier, look around the arena for item boxes. These contain rifles and rocket launchers – the weapons can kill these drones with just two shots on Normal, making the battle much easier if you get your hands on them.
Don’t bother to shoot the flying drones, focus on the Gargoyles on the ground. Once most are defeated, two will attack at once. This is a good time to use Rampage Mode, or just unleash with your lethal weapon.
Free Mission 2-2: Parasite Infestation
Victory Condition : Defeat 50 Enemies! / Time Limit: 3 Minutes / Tries: 1
Find this side-quest by jumping down to the bar and dock below the waterfall, then jumping down into the massive hole through the blown concrete wall. You’ll fall into an underwater hotel, with the mission waypoint inside.
This mission will introduce a new enemy, the parasite. These slow enemies die in one hit, so don’t bother using lethal strikes or Rampage. Target them with lock-on to move quickly between groups, and use ground pounds to clear out swarms if they get close.
Once enough are defeated, the Kraken will appear and start swinging its tentacles around the arena. This is annoying, but the parasites often contain health. Don’t worry about the tentacles, just keep attacking with regular strikes.
When you’ve killed all 50 parasites, a mutant will appear! Ignore it, because you need to escape the area using the elevator. The elevators are in the back corner, blocked by a Kraken tentacle. Target the tentacle and attack with lethal blows to send it away.
Step into the elevator, and you’ll have another mission complete.
Main Mission 2-2: The Creature from Valenda
This mission is on the deck of the aircraft carrier. Just use the many fans or ramps pointed toward the carrier to reach it.
Now it’s time to take care of the Kraken! This enormous mutant beast attacks Jack, but you’ll have the Baron and his lady-friend Mathilda to draw its attention.
They’ll show you have to fight this monster. During the first phase, the Kraken will throw electrified debris at you on the deck. Dodge it, and then pick up the chunks of concrete, throwing them back at the Kraken.
Hit it enough, and it’ll try to smash you with a giant chunk of metal. Stop it by, once again, throwing bits of debris at the giant.
Next, it’ll crash into the deck. Run up onto the Kraken’s tentacles and across its body to reach the glowing exposed eye. Attack hard, using lethal strikes or any of Jack’s quick combos.
The Kraken will charge up a blast of electricity, this is when you’ll want to back off. Retreat when you see the eye charge, and it’ll start throwing chunks of debris again.
You’ve been through this before. Pick up pieces of concrete and toss them back at the Kraken until it stops.
Now, it swims close to expose it’s electrified eye again – watch out, it fires a massive blast of energy straight forward. Dodge, and wait for it to fire before throwing more chunks of junk at the monster’s exposed eye.
The Kraken will charge the ship, trying to push it onto it’s side and sink it. To avoid drowning, look for jumppads on the side closest to the Kraken itself. You’ll fly onto the command area, where more parasites will attack.
Defeat the parasites until the ship sinks, leaving only a small section of dry land for Jack to maneuver. The Kraken will attack in stages, first shooting its beak forward to attempt to bite Jack. Dodge and attack the blue exposed area to hurt the Kraken.
It’ll retreat, and begin throwing missiles. Just like Helicopter Drone missiles, you can catch these mid-air! Line yourself up, and grab as they get close. Then, aim and throw at the charging eye of the Kraken.
If you hit, you’ll interrupt it’s next attack. If you miss, or don’t get a missile, the Kraken will launch a rapid fire series of electricity orbs that will stun jack. Break free of the stun before the Kraken attacks again with it’s lunging beak.
The Kraken will also try to crush jack with vertical and horizontal strikes of its tentacles. Jump over its swipes, and run left to right to avoid the smash attacks.
Once it loses enough health, it will try to zap Jack with more electricity orbs. Throw debris as it appears at the eye, until the Kraken finally rests to the side of the ship. A few more melee attacks against the eye will finish this monster off for good.
Free Mission 2-3: Mutant Suppression
Victory Condition : Team up to defeat 6 enemies! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 3
This mission is found behind the waterfall, in the upper levels of the port.
Here, you’ll need to fight three waves of mutants. The first wave consists of one, then two, then three at once.
You’ll have Baron and Mathilda’s help during this fight, just remember to revive them if you fall. You only need to stand near their kneeling character to revive.
Save your Rampage ability for the last wave of mutants. It’s not a bad idea to come equipped with items from the random item box roulette machines, if you can get your hands on them.
Fight the first mutant traditionally, and save the barrels of liquid nitrogen for the second wave. The blue containers can freeze the mutants when thrown, giving you time to deal damage.
When the last wave of mutants arrive, use Rampage and curbstomp the creatures.
Main Mission 2-3: The Young Lion
Return to the aircraft carrier for the last mission of the stage.
Similar to the previous stage’s last boss, Leo is a no-gimmicks battle against a tough AI opponent. Leo fights quick, zipping around the area and playing defensively.
To defeat Leo without much difficulty, you need to lock-on and never stop attacking. Keep blitzing him with weak attacks to force him into a guard, then break through his guard with combo strings.
When his health is half-off, he’ll go into Rampage Mode. This is your cue to strike, use your own Rampage ability and pound on him. If you’re first to attack, he isn’t likely to counter any of your ability, he’ll just try to turtle, making him an easy grab target.
Keep up the assault, and Leo will be defeated.

Free Mission 3-1: Break It Up
Victory Condition: Defeat 50 enemies! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 1
To activate this mission, use the lifts left of your starting position to reach the roofs.
This mission is all about taking out waves of Drones with limited abilities. The first waves of simple combat Drones won’t be a problem to handle, but the flying Drones that show up next are more of an issue. Use air uppercuts to knock these enemies out of the sky.
Look for a highlighted item box, it’ll contain a weapon that’ll make taking care of the incoming Shield Drones much easier. Throw the bombs into the four Shield Drones, and you shouldn’t have a problem clearing the last remainder out.
Shield Drones must reload their weapons between shots. When they do, they’ll lower their shields, making them an easy target for any one of Jack’s combos.
The Laser Drones are a problem, but nothing your remaining electro-trap can’t help with. Don’t forget to pick up and throw the sparking Laser Drones at their brethren, they make a massive explosion.
Finally, you’ll be introduced to a new enemy type. The Ninja Drones are tough close-combat specialists, you’ll need to use blocks and evades while fighting these quick enemies. But, they’re still fragile – a single swipe of your light lethal can destroy multiple Ninja Drones. Don’t let them surround you, pick them off one by one and keep on your toes.
Main Mission 3-1: Night Blooms
Climb the huge red tower in Hong Long to find the first main mission.
This battle pits you against Rin Rin. She’s quick, with deadly short-range fan attacks that can catch you while you’re trying to evade.
In general, she won’t offer much resistance. Fight her as you would anyone else – use evades to dodge, guard when you need to, and stay away or risk being grabbed.
She does have on trick up her sleeves. Midway through the fight, she’ll turn the lights out. This causes your lock-on to fail, and she’ll appear around the arena randomly to throw a burning spiked fan into Jack.
Keep on the move, and don’t rely on your lock-on, you won’t be able to use it again until after this sequence. To stall her, wait for her to attack before striking yourself – she’s vulnerable for several seconds after her initial surprise attack. Hit her before she teleports away.
The lights will return and the event will end after a few moments. Wait her out, or go on the offensive.
Never forget about your Rampage, use it when you’re low on health, and you can easily remove half of her health bar with flurries of punches alone.
Free Mission 3-2: Cleaning Up Hong Long
Victory Condition: Place 10 spheres into receptacles / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 1
At the end of the Rin Rin fight, you’ll jump off the tower. The next Free Mission is right back up on the tower.
This mission asks you to push 10 spheres into 10 receptacles spread across three areas. You’ll start on the tower, with a few enemies ahead of one receptacle, and one very shiny ball.
These balls will kill any enemies they touch, so don’t worry about the enemies. You’ll also learn how light and bouncy these balls off – one weak punch barely moves them, but a charged heavy strike will send them wildly bouncing around the area.
Instead, line yourself up and use a slightly charged strong punch to send it across the map. You’ll want to follow this method for the rest of the areas, and look on your map for each receptacle.
On your mini-map, each receptacle is highlighted with a green waypoint. Remember that, especially at the third area, where you’ll need to place six balls into six receptacles.
While this mission might be annoying, it just requires some patience. Hit the balls hard to send them toward the receptacle, then simply push or light punch them into position near the receptacle.
The balls can be pushed anywhere near each receptacle, it doesn’t matter if it’s from the front, the sides, or behind.
Take your time with each ball, and this mission shouldn’t be an issue.
Main Mission 3-2: Enter the Ninja
This mission is just down the main boulevard of Hong Long, you can’t miss it.
For this mission, you’ll square off against Zero. You can choose between Baron, Mathilda, or Jack. Either way, you’ll have some AI partners to help you for this boss.
Zero is lightning fast, with deadly area-of-effect powers. When you see a swirl of energy swords, just back off.
If you didn’t complete the first Free Mission, this’ll be the first time you face off against the Ninja Drones. These melee fighters are quick and deadly, but still fragile to Jack’s grabs and heavy combos.
Clear out the Ninja Drones, and Zero will have a hard time dealing with all three characters at once. Your AI partners will gang-up on Zero, so join in on the fun and unleash some of your lethal attacks.
Periodically, Zero will retreat and summon new Ninja Drones before returning to the fight. The Ninja Drones shouldn’t be a challenge, clear them out with ground pounds and follow-up combos, or even use the trucks in the arena to squash them.
Before Zero is defeated, he’ll try to use Rampage as a last-ditch effort. Save your Rampage for when Zero is almost dead, then unleash it whether you need to or not – you’ll need it to counter and defeat Zero’s flurry of punches and invincibility.
Free Mission 3-3: Bartender Backup
Victory Condition: Protect the Bar-Bots! / Time Limit: 3 Minutes / Tries: 3
Back in the starting area, you can accept this mission to protect multiple Bar-Bots at once. And there are a lot of Bar-Bots. You’ll only lose if every Bar-Bot is destroyed.
Your regular attacks won’t harm the Bar-Bots, so go nuts. The Cryo Killseekers that arrive next though might be a problem. Similar to the Pyros, the Cryos will explode – but instead of hurting you slightly with flame, they can hurt and freeze Jack in place.
It’s important you don’t try to attack these Cryos from the front. Throw something at them, or use a ground pound. When the Cryos beep, pick them up with a grab and throw them at their brethren for more easy kills.
Next, you’ll have to face Armed Vehicles. They drive forward and backward, with a swiveling turret able to shoot in any direction. The Armed Vehicles are tough, so use your lethal attacks as often as possible. Stay on their sides, and guard when they try to spin up. Using jets, they’ll try jump into the air and land someplace else, but there’s nowhere these armored cars can run from Jack.
Main Mission 3-3: The Wounded Beast
The last mission of the stage is located in the central plaza of Hong Long.
It’s a three-on-one battle against Max. You’ll need your AI’s help, because Max packs a serious punch.
First of all, don’t stand still while he’s still walking – his super-attack can take off most of your health bar in a single strike. It has good range, but he can’t risk it if you’re on the offensive.
Among his attacks, Max also has a powerful lunge that’ll separate him from your AI, and he can teleport at will.
Stay at a distance and jump in to help your AI partners, they can do most of the heavy lifting, keeping him busy and juggled so you can deliver the killing blows. Lethal strikes, lethal combos, and super attacks will go a long way toward draining most of Max’s health dry.
Just like most bosses, Max will try to use his Rampage before the battle is over. Against bosses like these, it’s always best to try to save your power until the end.

Free Mission 4-1: Hive of Scum and Villainy
Victory Condition: Defeat 100 enemies! / Time Limit: 10 Minutes / Tries: 1
Right in the starting cave, you’ll find the green marker for this mission. Here, you’ll face some new and tougher Killseekers.
The biggest challenge, to start, are the massive number of weak Killseekers. Multiple waves of Killseekers will arrive, just watch out for the shockstick mutants. If they surround you, expend some energy to unleash a spin-attack, just to get the killers off you long enough to run.
Take out enough Pyros, Cryos, and vehicles, until another wave of Killseekers will arrive just like the first.
The Poison Killseekers that appear will be a problem. Poison is far deadlier than fire in this game, so you’ll need to play it even safer against these problematic Killseekers. They’re protecting deadly Mutant Plants, too.
Don’t stand near a Mutant Plant for too long. After poisoning you, it will try to swallow you whole. This deadly attack is a real health drain; roll backwards when the plants rear back in preparation for their bite.
One light lethal strike will kill the Mutant Plants. Jump from one plant to the next, cutting each down with one strike. Refill your meter with weak attacks, of by taking out the Poison Killseekers.
More killers will arrive, with purple-clad sword-wielders mixed in. These guys will guard and lunge with dangerous sword strikes.
Armed Cars will jump into the pit. If you haven’t faced these before, just remember to attack from the sides. They’ll try to use spin-attacks or ground-pounds, so guard when they spin-up or stay back as they land from a jump.
A new car will arrive – this one with a flamethrower. It’s slightly deadlier than the regular type of car, so unleash those lethal attacks with abandon.
More Killseekers will drop in – these ones aren’t particularly difficult, but there is one type of killer that could cause problems. The soldier Killseekers are armed with pistols. They’ll fire randomly, or aim straight for you. A single shot can knock Jack onto his back, making these new Killseekers very annoying in packs.
Last, you’ll have to face the deadly robot, Cybrid Joe. This combat bot is almost as tough as a boss alone, meaning you’ll need all the old tricks to win. Stay away from him to avoid grabs, lock-on so you can circle him easily, and save up the Rampage.
Use Rampage at the end to take care of Cybrid Joe – he’s likely tougher than any of the bosses you’ve faced so far. He’s lightning fast, used a deadly long-range energy blast kick, and pulls out an unblockable area-of-effect attack whenever you try to get close.
Don’t play the odds, just save your Rampage for this last enemy.
Main Mission 4-1: Black Fire, White Ice
Use the lift inside the cave nearby to reach the train station, where the first boss fight of the stage takes place.
Strangely, Jack sits this battle out. You’ll have to play with either Baron or Mathilda.
Sasha is a deadly opponent that knows how to use her lethal weapons. She’ll lunge through the battlefield, shooting ice blasts that are quick to stun you or your AI partner. It’s tough to pin Sasha down, so this battle may call for some training with either Baron or Mathilda in Training mode.
When Sasha glows, she’ll attempt to blind you. Back off, or strike now to interrupt her attack.
To make the battle more complicated, a twister will blast through the arena. If you’re caught in the vortex, you’ll take some serious damage – to avoid it, just be aware of it’s trajectory. A red marker will appear onscreen showing you where the twister is heading.
If you’re too busy to look, and Sasha will keep you busy; the twister moves from the train station to the cave entrance, then to the center of the arena.
Free Mission 4-2: Attack of the Drones
Victory Conditions : Team up to defeat as many enemies as possible! / Time Limit: 3 Mins / Tries: 3
Here, all you need to do is survive while swarms of Drones attack. The number of Drones can be daunting, and eventually Shield Drones will jump in to help, but remember that all you need to do is survive.
Near the double ramps, there’s an item box containing a shield. Grab it early to help keep Jack alive.
After a minute or so, Rin Rin will arrive to help you fight the swarms of Drones. Don’t forget, if she falls, you can touch her to revive.
The Drones’ most annoying feature is that they’ll constantly back-up. Jack can’t cover ground quickly, so use your Forward-Forward-Heavy special to cover distance and destroy robots. When they glow red, pick them up and throw at their friends to clear even more out.
The goal here is just to try to earn as many points as possible. When you’re nearing the end of the time limit, run to the large arena ruins up the ramps. Bombers will arrive, and as long as you stay off the main road, you can avoid their bombing runs.
Shield Drones might be tough, but remember you can bypass their shields with a grab.
Due to the difficulty of this mission, you might consider playing it a second time to quickly earn enough points for the new Main Mission to unlock.
If you do well enough, Helicopters will begin to arrive at about the 35-40 kill mark. Keep locking on and taking enemies out, the easiest way to earn Platinum is when the Helicopter Drones arrive. If you can hijack one, it’ll be smooth sailing the rest of the mission.
Free Mission 4-3: Mutation Marches On
Victory Conditions : Defeat 5 enemies! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 3
Say hello to the Super Mutant. Faster and stronger than regular Mutants, the Super Mutants are a true threat – and you’ll need to defeat five of them to complete this mission.
While the Super Mutants are tough, they’re nowhere near as challenging as Cybrid Joe. They’re a step above Mutants in speed and power, so you’ll still want to stay on your toes.
Use lethal strikes often. Jump, and use a lethal heavy as you fall to unleash a deadly special attack that really rips the mutants apart.
If you’re having trouble, stock yourself with a special weapon before accepting the mission. I equipped a Rifle before going in. The Super Mutants only take a single shot from the rifle, if you manage to hit their head, to stun them for an instant kill grapple.
You know the drill. Guard, evade, and lock-on are your friends here. Use lethal strikes, and only attack with your weaker punches to build the lethal meter.
Save your Rampage for trouble, and you should manage this mission. You only have to take on one Super Mutant at a time, thankfully.
Main Mission 4-2: Butcher’s Banquet
Zero appears with a massive shielded robot, but Jack is bringing some friends. You can pick Big Bull or Rin Rin for this fight, but you’ll be fine sticking with Jack.
The Cthulhu robot has plenty of deadly abilities you’ll want to be aware of. Generally, most of his attacks are aimed forward such as his blade swings or lunge. It’s safest to stand behind him while your AI partners attack from the front.
Lock-on to one leg and pound on it. You’ll notice a set of purple shields protecting the robot. Hit those shields enough, and eventually they’ll turn red before failing altogether. Once his shields are down, you’ll be able to harm the boss.
The shields will not regenerate, but you’ll see why that is soon. This robot is a beast, with plenty of armor and health to spare.
When purple lasers glow around him, you’ll know he’s about to use a spinning laser blast. Immediately guard, you’ll be able to absorb the lasers without taking damage. If you’re hit, you’ll be stunned.
He also uses self-targeting lasers. You’ll see a red laser sight stuck on your character. Stop trying to fight, and evade left or right as it tries to shoot you. Once the laser is off, you can renew your attacks.
It can also teleport you and your partners randomly around the arena. You’ll know it’s about to teleport you when a small glowing drone appears over your head.
Halfway through the battle, Zero will send small flying robots to aid Cthulhu. Instead of aiding, these little robots are far more beneficial to you. Destroy them to gain health and weapons; we managed to get ourselves a rocket launcher.
Keep your allies alive by walking near their bodies to revive them. They’ll help by keeping Cthulhu’s attention off you.
Once Cthulhu is dead, you’ll have to face Zero one-on-one. The robot is far tougher, as Zero fights like any other character boss. Blitz Zero with lethal strikes, regular attacks, and grabs to defeat him.
Main Mission 4-3: End of the Chase
This is it, the final battle against Max. This quick bruiser’s AI has been pushed far above the standard opponents you might be used to, so you’ll need every dirty trick to take him down.
Look around the arena for signposts. These are perfect for stunning Max, just pick it up and throw. While he’s stunned, use a fully charged heavy lethal super-attack to tear into Max’s health bar.
Otherwise, this fight is all about your reaction time. Max is fast enough to break out of grabs, and he can keep up his shields far longer than most enemies you’ve faced before.
Like every boss, it’s safer to fight aggressively than to let Max break through your shields. If you hit him and he guards, keep unleashing combos until his guard breaks, then punish him with lethal strikes.
Another one of Jack’s best abilities is his heavy lethal ground pound. Just use a lethal heavy attack while falling from a jump, and you can chainsaw off a portion of Max’s health.
Keep evading, and be quick on your guard. If Max manages to stun you, he’ll always use his super-attack.
Remember to push your Rampage buttons when you’re low on health, because Max will do the same. At the end of the fight, Max will use Rampage.
This fight is all about skill, but if you manage to win, you’ll complete the Jack’s Black Side campaign.

Free Mission 1-1: Urban Pacification
Victory Condition : Defeat 50 enemies! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 1
If you’ve played the Black Side Free Mission called The Killseekers, you’ll know what to expect here. Just a simple mission against 50 Killseekers.
Everything you’ve seen before returns. You’ll have to deal with Killseekers armed with shocksticks, Pyros, and a Berserker at the end. The only real challenge will be the rampaging truck that appears after 25 kills.
To avoid taking massive damage from the truck, stay off the main Beer Street. Stick near the buildings, or wait on top of the building with stairs to the roof.
Otherwise, go crazy with lethal strikes and experiment with Leo’s skills. He’s a faster fighter than Jack, with a powerful heavy lethal ability you can charge that can wipe out groups of enemies in a single blow.
Main Mission 1-1: The Tenacious Tiger
Climb up to the upper levels of the city to find Durga. This is either your first battle against a boss, or just another in a long series if you’ve finished Jack’s Black Side Campaign.
Durga is actually a tougher, and an easier fight, in comparison to Big Bull. Durga is a fast fighter, with a handful of stunning long-strikes that can take Leo by surprise.
But, Durga is hardly a bruiser, and won’t have any back-up. Halfway through the fight, bombers will arrive to carpet bomb the street. Stay between the two ramps, and you’ll be safe.
The main strategy here is defense – lock onto Durga and hold your guard. Wait for him to attack, evade, then lay into him with a lethal combo. Between lethal attacks, use regular strikes to build your lethal meter.
Use Rampage when you’re low on health, and remember two of Leo’s best abilities that can safely hit Durga. Leo can use a lethal heavy ground pound that works like a grab, taking off a large chunk of health, and he can lunge forward with a Forward-Forward-Heavy attack.
That’s all she wrote, Durga shouldn’t be a problem.
Free Mission 1-2: The Fugitive
Victory Condition: Destroy the Cybrid Joe! / Time Limit: 5 minutes / Tries: 3
Wait, does that say Cybrid Joe? If you fought this deadly opponent in Free Mission 4-1 with Jack, you’ll know these guys are serious business.
This Joe won’t fight as hard as -that- Joe, but he’s still a tough opponent. Lock-on to catch up to him when he runs away, because that’s the most annoying part of this fight. Joe will retreat, running away randomly, and he’s way too fast to easily catch.
Look for the large “$” icon over his head. Eventually, he’ll stop running and let you fight. Your best bet is using Rampage and pummeling the health out of him when you’ve got a chance. Ignore the other Killseekers and just chase Joe.
Keep your guard up and evade when you see Joe glow red.
Main Mission 1-2: Holed Up
You can choose between Nikolai or Leo for this mission. Pick your favorite, and prepare to fight.
Mix it up with Killseekers, including Molotov and Pyros, until the landmass itself moves! That’s right, a new sewer will appear ahead, and a green pointer will appear over your character’s head.
Enter the sewer ahead, you’ll need to jump up over some rubble to get inside. The real challenge awaits in the first small water-filled arena.
As Jack, you fought a few mutants, but now you’ll have to fight not one, not two, but four mutants. The first two come out one at a time, while the last wave is made up of two mutants at once.
These fast brawlers should be handled like a boss. Keep your guard up, lock-on, and evade as much as possible. You’ll want to look out for their berserker charge, and their area-of-effect poison gas attack.
Save your Rampage for the last wave. If you’re fast, you can kill both mutants before your power runs dry.
Free Mission 1-3: Mutation & Madness
Victory Condition: Defeat the Berserker Mutant / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 3
This is no normal mutant. The Berserker Mutant is new to Leo’s campaign, so you’ll want to treat it like a buffed-up mutie.
This mutant is, literally, very difficult. It’s so large, you’ll have to target a single leg in the fight.
The mutant’s standard attack is two-horizontal swipes followed by a ground pound. If you’re right in the mutant’s face, his first two swipes will go right over Leo’s head, but the final ground pound will stun. If you’re stunned, the mutant will attack with a charge, so try to evade just as the mutant finishes his first two swipes.
Luckily, a supply drop will arrive. Three item boxes will arrive. The closest comes with a rocket launcher, the second a health drop, and the third an electricity trap.
Grab the rocket launcher and unload all four shots into the mutant. You’ll knock the monster down, making it an easy target for a few lethal strike combos.
Once the mutant recovers, run and pick up the health drop if you need it, or continue on to grab the electricity traps. Drop both to stun the mutant, then beat him with regular strikes mixed with lethal attacks.
When you’ve run out of items, pop Rampage and finish the mutant off for good.
Main Mission 1-3: Tiger Wing & Lion Fin
The battle starts with Durga riding his robot companion Garuda. Wait for Durga to fire a missile, and wait until the missile gets close. When it nears your character, press grab to pluck the missile out of the sky.
Now, just throw the missile back at Durga. Wait for him to float in place before throwing. Eventually Durga will attempt to fire three missiles at once, but if you manage to catch the first you’ll be invincible long enough that the rest of the missiles won’t hurt you.
Do enough damage to Durga’s flying platform, and the two will land on another nearby skyscraper. You’ll need to use the fallen tower to cross the gap and face off against the pair.
Sasha will arrive to help Leo, allowing you to pick between the two operatives before the fight continues.
There’s no good strategy for this fight. Focus on one of the two enemies, guard, evade, and use your lethal strikes. Make sure your AI partner is alive – if they fall, touch them to revive.
If you’re having trouble, build up your Rampage meter before going into this final Main Mission.
Once one of the fighters is down, the other will easily fall to you and your AI. Otherwise, this is a very chaotic fight. If you’re unlucky, Garuda and Durga can kill you in one quick burst. Play is safe, and you’ll pull through.

Free Mission 2-1: Valenda Sweep
Victory Condition: Defeat as many enemies as possible! / Time Limit: 3 Minutes / Tries: 1
Just like Jack’s mission, this first Free Mission is an absolute breeze. Leo has a Helicopter Drone hijacked, and you have infinite missiles.
Go nuts with missiles, and look at your minimap for red dots. Follow the red dots to rack up kills, and don’t let up with missiles. Try to swoop in close for a red cross hair to appear over enemies to make sure your missiles are locked on.
Once you score enough kills, Helicopter Drones will appear. Quickly target and fire off three missiles to destroy the Helicopter Drones in just a few seconds.
Destroy even more, and flying Drones will take off. They can cause problems, but as long as you keep your hijacked Helicopter Drone intact, there’s no way you’ll fail.
Main Mission 2-1: The Merchant of Valenda
Time to face off against Oinkie and his gang. The trickiest part of this fight trying to deal with Oinkie while his shockstick Killseekers try to stun you.
It helps to clear out the Killseeker gang with ground-pounds or light lethals. After dealing some damage to Oinkie, he’ll retreat and more Killseekers will appear.
Take out the first group, and even more Killseekers will drop down with Pyros. Beat up the Pyros until they flash and beep, then pick their bodies up. Throw the Pyros at the weaker Killseekers to clear them out quickly.
You’ll need to destroy the Killseekers fast, before the room bursts into flame. When they’re all dead, you can run out of the open door to find three new item boxes.
All three item boxes contain health. Refill, then rake the ramp up to find the corner Oinkie. The gross fighter will power-up once you’ve got him cornered. When he grows, and turns green, that’s just Oinkie’s lethal form.
Dodge when Oinkie attacks while mutated, a single lethal can stun if you try to guard. Evade when you can, and strike when you find an opening.
Free Mission 2-2: Impeding Investigation
Victory Condition: Defeat 100 enemies! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 3
This is an old-fashioned slaughter. Use your light lethal attacks to wipe out the Killseekers quickly. Run around a bit to bunch the Killseekers up, then take most of them out with a few light lethals.
Once 40 enemies are down, the giant saw blade will go out of control. This is when things get tricky, you’ll have to dodge a giant saw-blade periodically. If you’re caught, you’ll die instantly.
Otherwise, all you have to deal with are Killseekers and Executioners. Keep destroying these enemies, and keep your distance from the saw-blade. You have three tries, so there is some room for failure.
Main Mission 2-2: A Shadow from the Abyss
Get ready for another round with the might Kraken. This version is more of a boss fight than Jack’s fight for several reasons, so we’ll go over them all now.
Instead of throwing debris, the Kraken will wait on the edge of the carrier and attack with three of its glowing tentacles. The tentacles are your targets, so jump and whale on those weak-points with a slew of regular strikes mixed in with lethals.
The Kraken will charge up with electricity. Watch for the tentacles, and back-off to see which collide with the ground first. They shoot out a massive electricity shockwave you’ll need to jump over to avoid damage and a stun.
Next, the Kraken will attempt to bite. This move is slow and easy to dodge, just lock-on to the huge mouth when all three tentacles raise up, evade and attack the side when it shoots out.
Keep punching the tentacles, even when they seem damaged. The tentacles aren’t defeated until they break off.
Do enough damage, and the Kraken will become stunned, with it’s massive blue eye revealed. Run up it’s body and pummel the eye with everything you’ve got.
After the Kraken has fallen to below half its health bar, it’ll ram the carrier. Dodge the tentacle attacks until Nikolai points out the escavator and asks Leo to be the decoy.
Now, the wind generators near the edge of the ship pointing toward the Kraken will activate. Step on to reach the final arena.
On the last arena, more parasites will attack. Wipe them out, and wait for the Kraken to appear again.
Now, it’ll try to eat you again. Dodge its mouth attack, and stun it if you can by attacking the sides before it retracts. Then, it’ll move on to tentacle swipes.
Attack the sides, and the Kraken will try throwing missiles at you. Catch one with a grab as it gets near, then throw it back.
When its health is very low, it’ll attempt to blast you with a powerful electricity beam. Lock-on and wait for the beam to come at you, then simple evade left or right.
The beam will leave behind debris. Pick up the debris and throw it back at the Kraken to bring it down to a small sliver of health. Finally, the Kraken will thrash about before revealing it’s weak point. One more hit, and the Kraken will finally be defeated.
Free Mission 2-3: Strike One
Victory Condition: Team up to defeat as many enemies as possible! / Time Limit: 3 Mins / Tries: 3
This is a difficult combat mission, pitting you first against a single Executioner. Then another, then two buffed up Executioners, then three Mutants.
The escalating difficult quickly becomes a problem, but handling the first three waves shouldn’t be a problem. Go into this mission with Rampage ready.
After defeating two Executioners, or waiting on the time limit, Nikolai and Sasha will arrive to help. Use their aid to take down the two Executioners, but activate Rampage when the Mutants arrive.
Kill as many Mutants as you can with Rampage, because even more will appear on the scene. Up to five will arrive, all trying to murder you. If the time hasn’t run out, and there are five Mutants versus the three of you, just evade and guard. Don’t bother trying to take them down, try to survive the clock and you’ll earn a platinum.
Main Mission 2-3: The Wily Crocodile
Now it’s Leo’s turn to crush Jack. This is an old-fashioned brawl against a tough, challenging AI opponent with no gimmicks.
There are some obvious strategies you’ll want to follow; lock-on, guard, evade, and play it safe when you see Jack drawing out his deadly chainsaw.
To help, look around the battlefield for forklifts and explosive barrels. There’s even a cryo-barrel in blue that’ll help freeze Jack, making him an easy target for a series of combos.

Free Mission 3-1: Strict Enforcement
Victory Condition: Defeat as many enemies as possible! / Time Limit: 3 Minutes / Tries: 1
The first crew of sword-wielding Killseekers are tougher than your regular killers, but two light lethal strikes should take them out.
The incoming Pyros and Skiff are trouble, but the following wave of dangerous Cryo Killseekers cause far more problems, so weaken them by throwing the flashing Cryo enemies before they explode to stun gangs all at once.
All that’s left are more Killseekers. The goal here isn’t to survive, but to kill as quickly as you can. Switch between lethal strikes and regular to build your meter.
Main Mission 3-1: Clan of the Crimson Dragon
Time to fight another Clan member – two to be exact. Fei Rin and Ai Rin team-up to fight Leo.
These two are similar to Rin Rin, but having to deal with two at once makes they twice the threat. Luckily, you’ll have Sasha to help, or choose, before the fight begins.
Whip out your Rampage either right away, or just wait for your health to get low. Either way, taking out of one of the sisters will make this battle far easier. Having to deal with both at once will always be a pain.
Try to focus on the sister that your AI partner is ignoring. It isn’t always easy to accomplish, but your AI partner should pull one of the sisters off, allowing you to fight the other mostly unopposed.
Don’t split your attention. Defeat one of the sisters, then you and your AI can double-team the last enemy.
Free Mission 3-2: The Transporter
Victory Condition: Transport 5 cases to their destinations! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 1
For this mission, you’ll need to transport 5 packages to 5 locations. The first is a tutorial, look left for a hole in the building’s wall and run straight across the bus roofs to reach the first location.
The next package will appear right where you delivered the first. Jump down into the arena, and you’ll face your first opponents. The Mutant Plants will not attack as long as you don’t get close. Circle around the back of the small building, on the left side, to find stairs leading up.
Deliver the second case and grab the third to kill the plants. Jump down and onto the lift to find the next delivery spot under the large sign. Ignore the Killseekers, and collect the next package.
Pick it up and run to the wind fans, ignore the lifts, to reach the next waypoint on the tower. Ignore the executioner, then look for the concrete ramp to your left.
It’ll send you across the map. Turn around, and look for steps leading down under the building into a meat locker. More Cryo Killseekers will show up, but ignore them too.
Jump over the Cryos, and deliver the last package to pull off a victory.
Main Mission 3-2: The Junk-Seller’s Pet
For this boss fight, you’ll have your choice of Leo or Nikolai. You’ll have to deal with a Berserker Mutant, with Oinkie riding along with a gang of Killseekers surrounding him.
Start off with lethal attacks to wipe out groups of Killseekers, then you’ll be free to deal with the Berserker. If you missed the stage 1 Free Mission, this will be your first Berserker. Get ready, because this is a deadly mutant.
The monster constantly uses a three attack combo, ending with a ground pound. If it stuns you with the ground pound, it’ll continue on with a dangerous charge.
Thankfully, you’ll have an AI partner to keep the monster’s attention. Evade and circle around to attack the monster from behind. As long as you aren’t standing right in front of the mutant, you’ll be safe from the majority of its attacks.
Oinkie is easy in comparison. Double-team Oinkie, play defensive by evading or guarding when he enters his lethal mode, and you’ll have no problem finishing off this tub of fat.
Free Mission 3-3: Compulsory Measures
Victory Conditions: Defeat as many enemies as possible! / Time Limit: 3 Minutes / Tries: 3
Another slaughter mission, you know the drill. But, you’ll have a powerful Rifle with infinite ammo to make this easier.
Shoot down the Executioners on the ground, and on the ceilings above, while moving on toward the underground meat lockers. Plant Mutants will appear, but they each only take a shot to kill.
Cryo Killseekers will arrive in the frozen locker. Blast each one, and stay away to avoid their explosions. The popping Cryos will not hurt the other Killseekers, so pick them off on the ground.
Moving out of the freezer, continue up the ramp to a field of Plant Mutants. Pick them off, including any extra Executioners.
A skiff, with Pyros, will appear. Blast them all down too, and watch out for the skiff’s charge attack. Luckily, the Pyros will damage each other when they explode.
The lift will activate, but there’s something else you might want to grab before taking the elevator. In the building interior, you can spot an item box waypoint. Destroy it to gain some health and make four Executioners appear.
Now, be on your way up the ramp to clear out as many Mutant Plants before your time runs out.
Main Mission 3-3: Grievous Reunion
Welcome back, Max. He’s still a challenging opponent, you’ll need all your skills to put an end to this guy.
A single heavy strike can stun Max by juggling him into the air, giving Leo time to charge a lethal heavy or regular heavy attack.
Like Jack, a lethal heavy ground pound is deadly to Max.
When Nikolai and Sasha arrive, the fight gets much easier. You’ll have two AI partners to keep Max busy, allowing you to charge up special attacks and unleash them.
As always, when you’re low on health, unleash Rampage to dish out some easy damage on Max.

Free Mission 4-1: The Fugitive’s Path
Victory Condition: Defeat 3 Enemies! / Time Limit: 5 Minutes / Tries: 3
It’s you versus three Cybrid Joes at once. Joy.
There’s a few ways to tackle this. The Joes run around the arena, and are bound to run into each other. If you run near the Joes, they’ll try to take you on. Run by more than one, and you’ll have more than one Joe to deal with.
Scattered around the main street are signposts. Throw them at a Joe to keep them stunned, giving you plenty of time to unleash lethal special attacks.
Or, just pop Rampage and try to kill off one or two quickly. Before doing that, bunch them up so you can easily switch between different Joes.
When fighting one-on-one, Cybrid Joe has a small selection of powerful strikes. When you’re close, he’ll raise a leg and bring it down. Evade left or right to avoid it, but Joe will also try an energy area-of-effect when he rises off the ground.
Main Mission 4-1: Defining Justice
Nikolai fights hard, so match his speed and ferocity with your own. He likes to retreat and guard, use that against him. While he guards, keeping attacking to keep Nikolai locked in place until his guard is broken.
After catching Nikolai in a guard, use a grab to do some damage. Just don’t miss, or Nikolai will try to grab you himself.
On the streets, you’ll find signposts. On the roofs, up the steps, there are plenty of barrels you can toss to knock Nikolai down.
Go nuts on Nikolai while you have him stunned, and mix it up with lethal attacks.
Use Leo’s quick heavy strike uppercut to knock Nikolai off his feet, then follow-up with a charged heavy.
Go berserk on Nikolai, and you’ll pull off a victory. There’s really not much to this fight, but it should still be a challenge.
Free Mission 4-2: A Valuable Lesson
Victory Conditions: Team up to defeat 10 enemies! / Time Limit: 10 Minutes / Tries: 3
10 enemies in 10 minutes? Considering how rapid combat occurs in this game, you know these are going to be tough bad guys.
Max will join in quickly to help you take out the first group of four Executioners. The second wave is made up of three mutants, the third is made up of two super mutants, and the last wave is just a single Berserker.
This is a serious challenge, but personally the hardest wave, to this editor, is the encounter with three mutants at once. Save your Rampage power for them. If you have more luck, maybe you’ll have more problems against the tougher enemies ahead.
Each enemy drops an extra health pack when killed.
Free Mission 4-3: Berserk Rider
Victory Condition: Control a Berserker Mutant and defeat all the enemies! / Time Limit: 10 Minutes / Tries: 1
This is a special treat. You’ll start riding a Berserker Mutant, and this beast is powerful. There are three types of comments you can give; a regular attack, a jump with an area-of-effect as you land, and a poison-spray that shoots out covering a 180 degree arc ahead of the mutant.
The regular attack can be chained into a three hit combo, ending with a ground pound. While the poison attack is good, it won’t affect Drones, remember that as you fight toward the coliseum.
Make a splash by jumping into a group of enemies, then knock them all down with a three-hit combo to clear out large groups.
Ignore the running Killseekers when you can. Defeat the Drones, and the Armed Cars through the back exit into the desert from the coliseum arena. Down the street, following the running Killseekers to find three Mutants on the metal dock over the water.
On the water’s edge, the Kraken will make a reappearance! But, this sea monster is no match for your Berserker Mutant. Attack the blue tentacles until one of them breaks off, stunning the Kraken. Jump onto its body (This can take some work. The Berserker has some difficulty trying to walk on the Kraken.) and run to the blue revealed weak point. A handful of swipes will kill the Kraken for good.
The fans on the dock will then activate. Step on the fans to start right at the beginning – the Cthulhu boss is waiting inside the coliseum.
There’s no strategy here, just beat on the robot until it’s shields are broken. A good attack to use is the Berserker’s jump followed by a strike. If you lock-on to the Cthulhu, you should always manage a hit. Because of the Kraken’s unwieldy size and the Cthulhu’s weird hitbox, it isn’t always a guaranteed hit if you just use the Mutant’s three hit combo.
The only attack you absolutely must avoid is the Cthulhu’s giant energy beam shot out of his chest. Luckily, the beam moves slowly enough that the Mutant can simply side-step to get away from it. If you’re caught in the beam, it can instantly take off 80% of the Mutant’s health.
To defeat the Cthulhu, you’ll have to grab it when it’s stunned and surrounded by a holographic green circle. Mash whatever face button is highlighted on screen as fast as you can, and you’ll pull through. Remember that the buttons will switch.
Main Mission 4-2: The Old Man and the Desert
Douglas wants revenge, and he’s faster than he looks. This brutish power-armored warrior can surprise you with longer than average combos, so don’t drop your guard after three or four strikes.
He’ll try to hit you with long-range lunge special attacks, often while charged up with his killer weaponry. Always stay locked on, he’s too quick to get easy hits with the signposts, explosives, or cryo barrels scattered around the area.
You’ll want to save your Rampage ability too, because this fight isn’t over after Douglas is dealt with. Three mutants will attack, and the sand under your feet will begin to sink. Standing on the sinking sand will suck you toward the center, and if you’re caught there you’re dead.
Douglas will team-up with you as an AI partner as this point. Don’t forget to revive him if he falls, you absolutely must keep him alive to draw attention.
Feel free to use Rampage during this first wave, you’re bound to build up more of your Rampage Meter before the end. Try to save Rampage for the very end though. You’ll know why.
After killing the first three mutants, you’ll have three more to handle. Save any special weapons you collect, but immediately use any defensive items. Every Mutant you kill will drop a weapon, a defense item, or a health pack.
Once the second wave of Mutants are dead, three Super Mutants will appear. This is why you’ll want to keep any special weapons or Rampage. Start with your weapons, unload whatever you have, then pop Rampage. Killing even one of these Super Mutants early will make the rest of the fight much more manageable.

Main Mission 5-1: Destined Duel
The fight against Leo puts you back in the shoes of Jack. This will be your hardest fight yet, as Leo comes at you with advanced tactics and perfect timing. He’ll exploit your every opening, so you’ll have to exploit his.
Thanks to Leo’s speed advantage, you can’t just blitz with Jack. You won’t start with your Rage Meter built up either, you’ll need to earn it. There are no health packs, but you will have three tries.
Keep your lethal attacks close to the cuff, if you attack wildly with the chainsaw, you’ll leave yourself open to counters from Leo.
Leo will evade backwards whenever he can. If you see him do it, begin charging a heavy strike – lethal or regular will do. Wait for Leo to get in range, then unleash. Leo will often try to get in range, then charge his own forward heavy lunge. Hit him first.
To stun Leo, use a quick heavy strike to uppercut him, then while he’s in the air, begin to charge another heavy strike. You can usually manage to charge one before he’s able to get back up. If you’re quick, you can hit him with a partially loaded heavy charge and stun him.
Once stunned, he’s an easy mark for a powerful lethal attack. Sadly, your lethal heavy ground pound will not work often on Leo, he’s too nimble to stay in on place long enough to land it.
Keep fighting, and avoid messing with the objects around the arena. Taking your attention of Leo means he’ll sneak in a few cheap shots.
Otherwise, this is a brawl. Use all the knowledge you’ve gained throughout the game, and you’ll pull through.
Main Mission 5-2: Last Things Last
Say hello to Nikolai’s final form. Not only do you have this boss to deal with, but his army of elite BPS Drones, each one a hybrid of the Shield Drones and Flying Drones.
At the beginning of the fight, Nikolai will attack with his BPS Drones while he flies around the battlefield, blasting away with his energy balls, concentrated electricity beam, or with close-range area-of-effect blasts.
His deadliest attack is the concentrated beam, easily visible whenever he stops moving and charges up. As long as you have your four AI partners alive, you’ll be relatively safe from his attacks.
The BPS Drones are tough, but with their weak machine guns, they’re not quite as much of a threat at the shotgunning Shield Drones. Ignore them, unless you want to damage them and throw them at Nikolai.
While he flies around, you’ll need to break his shield. Throw BPS Drones or debris left behind by his massive laser to hurt his shield until it drops. Next, you can throw more debris – whenever Nikolai is firing his huge laser, a single hit will stun him on the ground long enough to use your lethal chainsaw.
Otherwise, you’ll need to use a flying uppercut by attacking with a heavy punch while rising up from a jump. Break down his shield, and you’ll have much less trouble stunning him. Just make sure you stay back when you see him charge near the ground.
The laser is easy to escape as long as Jack sticks near Nikolai. The beam can’t hit anything below crazy Nick. At all points of this battle, you’ll need to revive your AI Partners so they can be bait, and take some of the attention off you.
The second part of the battle is much harder, Nikolai will speed up and knock out all your AI friends, except for Leo. He’ll also begin using a much large area-of-effect blast, combined with a deadly electricity sword when his shield is down.
Here, it’s also important to know that the BPS Drones will drop health when they’re killed. Wipe out a few to bolster your health bar if it’s running low, especially after activating Rampage where you’ll be invulnerable.
Nikolai’s shield will return for the second phase of the fight, and will recharge once again after he’s taken enough damage. While his shield is up, Nikolai relies on flying attacks. When his shield is down, he’ll get up close and personal.
One of his most damaging attacks is his area-of-effect electricity blast. If you’re near him, you’ll see Nikolai curl up in a ball and float upward, ready to expend a massive burst of energy. Instead of running, constantly evade left or right. While evading, Jack will have invincibility frames keeping him safe.
