Like any city, Watch Dogs' version of Chicago is rife with things to do. Unlike most cities, however, these things include side missions, opportunities to invade the privacy of citizens, and other fun activities and mini games to get involved in either to make money or simply to take a break from the virtual rat race.
So far we know of 13 mini games that will feature in Watch Dogs, and some of these will even allow you the option of incorporating Aiden’s hacking and spying abilities to tip the odds in your favour. So what games can you play in Watch Dogs?
Watch Dogs: Mini Games
Chess
Chess in Watch Dogs is an old classic and a game that any strategic mastermind should have a good knowledge of. If you don’t already know how to play, what better way to learn than in a video game?! You can either play a full game of standard chess, or choose to solve chess puzzles of varying difficulties.
NVZN
NVZN in Watch Dogs is an augmented reality game that is launched from Aiden’s phone, making it seem like Chicago is in the midst of a full scale alien invasion. The objective is fairly simple: exterminate those aliens in the fastest time possible!
Shell Game
In Watch Dogs the Shell Game is one that you will have seen a thousand times before: there are three cups and one ball, and you have to guess which cup the ball is hidden under. Of course, the trickster hosting the game won’t make it easy for you to guess correctly, so keep your eyes glued to the screen and don’t look away!
Cash Run
Almost like a 3D version of Pac-Man, Cash Run is another augmented reality phone game that will see Aiden chasing down coins while attempting to avoid ghosts. The faster you collect all the coins, the higher your score will rise, which can be helped by grabbing the purple clocks scattered throughout the mini game.
Poker
Who doesn’t love a friendly game of poker between buddies? Well, everyone, until someone starts hustling. Poker in Watch Dogs is one of the mini games that allows you to incorporate your spying abilities to scan the heart rate of your opponents to tell if they’re bluffing, or even hack into nearby cameras to try and get an angle on other players’ hands. Of course, you could always use simple skill to win, but what’s the point of being a master hacker if you don’t use it to your advantage?
Slot Machines
Just like in Las Vegas, with the Slot Machines in Watch Dogs, you put your money in, pull the lever and desperately hope that the three spinning wheels line up a trio of icons that doesn’t lose you the second mortgage you just took out on your house.
Drinking Games
Revisit your university days by simulating a drinking game in Watch Dogs against other bar patrons. The last man standing leaves with the money (or stays in the bar and spends it on more booze).
Watch Dogs: Digital Trips
There are a few different Digital Trips in Watch Dogs, each offering a unique way to experience an alternative version of the city and provide some much needed escapism.
Madness
The city is overrun with hell spawn, and it’s up to you to drive a car-turned-killing machine into as many accursed demons as you possibly can, while racking up killstreaks and completing pbjectives.
Alone
Alone is set in a post-apocalyptic Chicago where the only residents are ctOS robots and yourself. Sneak past the robots and attempt to re-establish the power grid in this abandoned waste of a city.
Psychedelic
In this rather different departure from regular Watch Dogs Chicago, you control a groovy Aiden as he jovially bounces from giant flower to giant flower, while trying to slot through the airbourne rings to maximise score.
Spider Tank
The Watch Dogs Spider Tank mini game places you at the helm of a giant metal arachnid, armed with an arsenal of weapons and unlockable skills. The aim of the game is simply to cause complete and utter chaos.
Conspiracy
A sinister faction of Cyborgs has invaded Chicago, cunningly disguised as humans. Your job is search and destroy: root out the cyborgs using your phone’s profiling function, and then exterminate the invaders.
