Unturned: How To Build A Good Base Defense

For gamers just joining in on the popular free-to-play, open-world zombie game Unturned looking for an easy way to defend against other players and the zombie hordes, there’s a neat little video for Unturned version 3.7.9 that gives a detailed explanation on how to build a fortified base.

If your base building skills aren’t so hot, and you’re the kind of gamer who booted up Minecraft and got stuck because you didn’t know what to do, YouTuber XDTOMASXD has a nice little 12 minute video detailing how to build a worthwhile, fortified base that will defend against the undead and the unscrupulous alike. Check it out below.

If you don’t have time to watch it, it basically rolls out the list of the following items necessary to build the base, which contains three floors and a ramp surrounded by barricades. Materials you’ll need:

  • 16 barricades
  • 16 pine pillars
  • 8 maple walls
  • 5 maple windows
  • 2 doorways
  • 2 doors
  • 4 ladders
  • 10 maple fortifications
  • 2 maple floors
  • 1 maple roof,
  • 1 maple ramp
  • 3 maple holes
  • and one bedroll

If you’re watching the video and trying to figure out what the gist of the fortification is, the trick is that it’s a small base designed to allow you to fight from a fully fortified position. The purpose of the ramp is also two-fold. It allows you to lay down and snipe without being seen. Also, it’s for respawning.

The respawn feature is really cool because the bedroll that allows you to respawn is placed under the ramp. You can’t get to the bed from just going through the base. So if someone manages to get the jump on you and kill you, you’ll respawn under the ramp on the second floor without being seen, since the bedroll is under the ramp. From there you can hop out and get your revenge against your aggressor.

You can learn more about Unturned from Nelson Sexton by paying a visit to the official Steam store page. The game is free-to-play so there’s nothing really to lose by dabbling in the Roblox meets DayZ game.

The latest update also fixes some of the game’s Steam Workshop issues, so look out for that as well.
