Stranded Deep is one of those games that managed to take off in popularity after people found out that it was basically the movie Castaway as a video game. Some users have been desperately trying to figure out how to get some of the basics done, as well as looking for guides on how to hunt and kill some of the more dangerous predators in the game world, such as the great white shark.
YouTuber TooTallTodd has a pretty quick and easy guide on how to hunt down and kill sharks, marlins and tiger sharks. It’s a quick six minute video that only covers the basics of the hunt, as well as how to cook them. Check out the Stranded Deep video below.
So yeah, it’s really as simple as it looks: you find a shark, you stay on its rear and you repeatedly poke it until it dies. In the case of the great white and the tiger shark it’s going to take some time to wear them down and stab them to death with a makeshift spear. If you have a harpoon gun or something with a bit more oomph to it, you’ll be able to take them down quicker. If you need help on making the homemade spear be sure to check out the basic crafting guide for Stranded Deep here.
After you take down the great white, the tiger shark or the marlin, you have to drag them back to the beach and use your makeshift axe to chop them up into pieces. Just keep chopping at them once you hear the flesh-cutting noise and continue to do so until they turn into meat strips.
If the game doesn’t glitch out on you, the next step is to take the meat and cook it over a fire pit. It’s as easy as eating pie… well, in the game, of course. I’m quite positive that trying to kill a great white shark with a makeshift spear in the middle of the ocean while you’re starving, slightly delirious and under nourished would likely result in the great white having a bit of a mid-day snack instead of you taking the hide of the beast back to shore.
