Marvel: Avengers Alliance Walkthrough

Marvel: Avengers Alliance Unofficial Guide by Mongoose General for SuperCheats.com

Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a Facebook game developed by Playdom, based on an RPG-fighting concept and heavily focused on the Marvel universe. It is a turn-based game, where you play as a new agent in S.H.I.E.L.D., which is this universe's secret law enforcement agency. In terms of the type of gameplay, it is centred around 3 versus 3 fighting, and as mentioned above, is entirely turn-based.

Getting Started

The first thing you will need to do upon beginning to play Avengers Alliance is to create your character.

Notice the bar at the top, which acts as the game's main menu, and has no real function during gameplay, and also the bottom menu, which lists any friends you have in the game, and 'Tony', the computer-controlled ally who follows you throughout.

Click on the gender that you would prefer to play as, then you will have the choice of Customize or Play Now. If you intend to put any time into Avengers Alliance and invite friends to play, for example, you will want to Customize your character at least a little.

Customizing Your Character:

If you pick the Customize option, you are able to rename your Agent, change the gender yet again, and pick the hair and face of your character. This isn't particularly in depth, but you should at least be able to give your character a little bit of individuality to help them stand out from the crowd.

Tutorial:

Having completed the first few steps, you are thrust into a hardcore training session, with all the safeties turned off.

Being a turn-based game, the way that the gameplay works is for you to begin and pick your weapon and attack. Select the pistol (Needle Gun) by clicking on it, then click on the 'Salvaged Sentinel' that has been sent to test you in this final training session.

You will attack and do a little damage, before the Sentinel returns fire. You can see your Health and Stamina in meters below the item selection pane. The game has deliberately set it up so that you are much weaker than the Sentinel. As a result, after a couple of its attacks, you will be advised of the supplies offered to you by the S.H.I.E.L.D. program.

Click the Inventory item, which is indicated by a locked chest, then click on the Frag Grenade. You will see it appear by your cursor, then click on the Sentinel to throw it. Because the grenade is so powerful, it will finish off the Sentinel for you. Hurrah! With that, you have learnt many of the basics of Avengers Alliance and should now be able to recruit your first Hero to assist you in battle.

Attacking:

On the bottom-left hand side of the screen, above the Health and Stamina indicators, you can see a list of your attack options. You begin the game with just one weapon, the Needle Gun, which looks like a regular pistol. Soon, however, once you level up, more weapons will be coming your way.

To attack, click the item that you want to begin the turn with, then select your target. If you mouse-over the weapon, it will list its stats for you.

XP:

XP, or Experience Points, can be gained from completing virtually any action in Avengers Alliance. A good idea, therefore, is to send your Heroes on tasks before you quit the game. This means that when you come back to the game, the tasks will be completed and you will have an influx of XP.

You should also ask your friends to crew your Jets and upgrade everything to get extra XP.

Energy

Surprisingly, Energy is not consumed with each attack you make in Avengers Alliance. Instead, Stamina functions for this, while Energy dictates how many battles you can physically enter. For example, to take part in one battle, you will normally need 10 Energy. Energy refills after a set period of time, and this is to stop people from 'spamming' easy battles to level up and get new equipment.

How to get More Energy:

If you are struggling to get enough Energy to keep all your battles going, you should try requesting it as a gift from friends. With regular supplies of Energy coming in, you shouldn't have any issues keeping things flowing. You can also buy Energy with Gold, though this should be a last resort. Note that your Energy does not automatically refill from sources such as gifts. Instead, click on the 'Use' option next to the Energy indicator. It will then list all of the refills that you have available (if any).

Health and Stamina

Health is the key to every battle. You can see this indicated in red below the item selection pane when in combat. Stamina governs what attacks you can perform while in combat. For example, the Needle Gun that you start the game with, costs 9 Stamina for each attack.

How to Get Health:

You can recharge your Health by equipping the relevant items from your Supplies menu. Purchase these before battle so that you are not left short of Health if you come up agaisnt tougher enemies.

How to get Stamina:

When you run out of Stamina, you can either choose to lose a turn recharging it, which obviously can be disastrous in the course of a battle, or use a Stamina Boost Pack from your equipment inventory menu.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Points

S.H.I.E.L.D. Points are vital in Avengers Alliance. Their function is to allow you to train up your Heroes, buy new items from the store, like inventory supplies, and to research exciting new technology.

How to get more S.H.I.E.L.D. Points:

Similar to Command Points, if you have a lot of Gold you can also spend it to buy S.H.I.E.L.D. Points. Probably the best way to get S.H.I.E.L.D. Points, however, is to request them from your friends. If you do this regularly, you should have a frequent supply flooding in. Using this tactic you should be able to use the majority of your Gold for Command Points.

You can also create dummy Facebook accounts and add those as your allies, if you are having a hard time finding people to help you. Then log into those and accept your requests!

Gold to S.H.I.E.L.D. Points Values:

If you choose to purchase more S.H.I.E.L.D. Points using Gold, you will find the appropriate values for this listed below.

1 Gold - 5 S.H.I.E.L.D. Points
10 Gold - 50 S.H.I.E.L.D. Points
25 Gold - 250 S.H.I.E.L.D. Points

Command Points

Command Points are used to purchase new Heroes, which are vital for building a strong team of Avengers and fighting your way through this game.

How to get Command Points:

If you are struggling to earn enough Command Points to spend in Avengers Alliance, you can always spend Gold to physically purchase them. You get 2 Command Points for 1 Gold in Avengers Alliance. You also receive 5 Command Points when achieving a 5 Star rating on any level.

Sometimes during a fight the enemy will drop a Command Point. Upon levelling up, you also have a chance of getting 1, 3 or 5 Command Points.

Note that it seems as though the more Command Points you spend recruiting Heroes, the higher the cost of them gets in terms of spending Gold on them. This means that if there are Heroes that you particularly want to get, try to get them early so as to avoid the price hike later on.

Currency

Silver:

Silver is useful, like S.H.I.E.L.D. Points, for purchasing items from the store.

How to get Silver:

Silver is earned from completing tasks. A good strategy is to set all of your Heroes to complete tasks before you go away from the game. Then, when you return, you should have an influx of money to greet you. You will also get a bunch of XP from following this guide. So send your best Avengers on 3 minute remote missions while you are actively logged into the game, but when you are leaving the game overnight or for a while, set them to do the longest missions possible. When you return, you will have heaps of coins.

There are 9 possible rewards from completing missions and only 3 of those contain Silver.

You also earn Silver from completing every mission with 2 stars, which will reward you with 1,000 Silver.

Another good strategy is to ask your friends to crew your Jets and upgrade everything to get extra Silver.

Gold:

Gold has a variety of uses in Avengers Alliance, and is essential for progressing through the game. One of its key uses is to purchase Resources to help you in your battles.

How to get more Gold:

You can earn Gold primarily by levelling up. You can then choose what to spend it on, such as Command Points or S.H.I.E.L.D. Points as described below.

There are no hacks reported for Avengers Alliance yet. If you do come across any, bear in mind that they can lead to your account being suspended or banned, and your game not functioning properly. It also defeats the point of having levels in a game if you are just going to cheat to get through them!

Also, if you get every star on a mission, you have an additional chance of earning a gold reward. Getting four stars on any mission will always reward you with one Gold.

Saving Gold:

Early on in the game, during the tutorial stages, you should ignore the screens that pop up asking you to spend your Gold on various items. You do not have to do this and you will probably be much better off if you save the Gold and spend it on things that you really need.

Gold and Silver Values:

If you want to purchase Gold or Silver in Marvel Avengers Alliance, below are the amounts that you will have to pay for varying volumes of cash:

Gold:

4 Gold - $1
20 Gold - $5
42 Gold - $10
85 Gold - $20
240 Gold - $50
500 Gold - $100

Silver:

800 Silver - $1
4,000 Silver - $5
8,400 Silver - $10
17,000 Silver - $20
48,000 Silver - $50
100,000 Silver - $100

Other Resources

Resources:

Resources include a variety of items, such as Energy Packs, which can allow you to fight in more battles or boost your team's statistics temporarily. Perform research to unlock new Resources. While most require Gold to purchase, Silver is also needed for getting Resources for your Avengers.

In the Resources menu you can see a variety if information - what is required to get the Resource, and exactly what its statistics are for your team. You should definitely look at purchasing many resources to help you through the game.

Uniforms:

These function similarly to certain resources, in that they boost your Avengers' statistics. You can purchase new Uniforms using Silver, Gold and S.H.I.E.L.D. Points. Like Resources, you may need to do a certain amount of research before you are given the option to purchase a particular Uniform.

You can use Uniforms to change the class of your agent by utilizing the Uniforms menu.

Gear:

Supplies are useful in combat, especially for rescuring yourself from a difficult situation. If you select the 'Inventory' icon, which looks like a locked chest to the right of your weapons, you can pick from Healing, Offense or Defense. You can also see all of your supplies in one list.

Use the Gear menu in the Purchase window to kit your team out before heading into combat. This will allow you to buy new Healing, Offensive or Defensive items.

Distress Calls:

Distress Calls are immensely useful tools that can really get you out of a tough spot when in combat. If you are struggling in battle, you can let out a Distress Call to get help from an ally or Hero. You can only use one Distress Call per battle.

How to get Distress Calls:

The only way to 'earn' Distress Calls is to visit your Friends'/Allies' maps.

Heroes

To unlock new Heroes, you need to save up your Command Points and you can then purchase new Avengers. Remember though, you can only take two Avengers into battle, so there is little point in trying to get them all, except for completionists. You can see a list of Heroes below, along with their class and Command Point cost:

How to get Free Heroes:

You can get one free Hero in Avengers Alliance, and this comes after you beat the first chapter in the game (after the first five missions). Other heroes you have to buy using your hard-earned Command Points.

Classes:

The Heroes in Avengers Alliance are split up into Classes. These are the Blaster, Bruiser, Scrapper, Infiltrator and Tactician classes, which are outlined below:

Blaster: This class has guaranteed critical hits against Bruisers, ignores Bruisers defenses, and takes reduced damage from Bruisers.

Bruiser: This class gets Enraged when hit by the Scrapper class which deals extra damage on the next attack and takes less damage while in this state. It also has increased accuracy against Scrappers.

Scrapper: Scrappers receive an extra attack when fighting Infiltrators, and take less damage from Infiltrators.

Infiltrator: This class counter-attacks whenever it is attacked by a Tactician, and also has increased accuracy against them.

Tactician: These get an extra turn when attacking Blasters and take reduced damage from them.

The class system can be summarised as follows:

Blasters are strong against Bruisers, who are strong against Scrappers, who are strong against Infiltrators, who are strong against Tacticians, who are strong against Blasters.

There are also some 'Generalists', who do not have an assigned class. They are equally strong (and weak) in numerous areas.

Epic Bosses

Guide to Epic Bosses:

Once you have completed all the missions in a Chapter, you are tasked with defeating the Epic Boss. Each fight requires a specific hero to be owned for deployment, which you can see listed after the boss name. So first you need to complete all of the threats on a given chapter, including the final boss, and then deploy the listed hero. Below is a brief summary of the Epic Bosses and the rewards for defeating them, as well as some tips for each one:

Chapter 2:3 - Boss: Elektra, Deploy: Black Cat
Reward - Grecian Sai

Tips: To defeat Elektra, who will be accompanied by two Scrappers, take a strong Bruiser with good HP as Elektra's counter-attack ability can really hurt your team otherwise. Avoid taking any Infiltrators with you as that is her strength.

Chapter 3:5 - Boss: Dr. Doom, Deploy: Spiderman
Reward - The Doombringer

Tips: For beating Dr. Doom, you are actually facing off against three Doombots. You should center all of your attacks on a single Doombot at a time, until it is destroyed - then move onto the next one. This means that you reduce by a third the amount of damage received each turn as soon as one is taken out, whereas if you focus your fire on all three, it will take significantly longer before you start to see results. Also, Doombots can use their own health to heal their allies, so removing one as soon as possible is crucial to stop them from healing each other.

Chapter 4:4 - Boss: Magneto, Deploy: Storm
Reward - Magnetic Field Generator

Tips: Magneto deploys Shields to prevent your attacks from passing through. He absorbs your initial attacks and then defends with either a Positron Shield (positively charged) or an Electron Shield (negatively charged). These shields will protect Magneto from attacks of the same charge type, so the Positron will only allow negatively charged attacks through, for example. Because of this, you should choose your attacks very carefully. Poison and items work well as they are unaffected by it.

Chapter 5:3 - Boss: Loki, Deploy: Wolverine
Reward - Norn Stone

Tips: Loki has the most involved and one of the most difficult boss fights. It consists of three waves, with wave two being particularly tricky as Loki disguises himself so you don't know which one to attack. With this in mind, use area attack items such as Cluster Grenades, Nerve Gas, Kunai Barrage or Molotovs, as these will damage all three of your enemies, regardless of which is in fact Loki.

You can also try having your agent use Support Buffs such as Offensive Accelerator and the Batstone, which boost your attack by 25 percent and reduce enemy defence by 25 percent. This sets you up for Round Two with Loki having massive weakness in his defences, which should make the fight that much easier.

Chapter 6:3 - Boss: Doctor Octopus, Deploy: Black Widow
Reward - Electrostatic Arm

Tips: Doctor Octopus throws a bit of a curveball at you with an ISO virus that infects you. You can send the virus back to him by attacking, however, so you shouldn't find it too tricky to deal with.

Chapter 7:3 - Boss: Green Goblin

Reward - Goblin Glider

Tips: Unusually, you are fighting Green Goblin on his own. You can defeat him relatively easily by employing Bruisers, as the Goblin is defined as a Scrapper class.

Epic Boss Farming of Command Points:

Scoring Critical Hits against Epic Bosses is the best way to 'farm' for Command Points. As they are the hardest fights, you have a higher chance of getting Command Points from your Critical Hits.

Gift Giving

As explained earlier, you are able to give your friends assistance while playing Avengers Alliance, and a good tactic for these it to exchange S.H.I.E.L.D. points with each other. These you can give for free and so are a great way for advancing through the game. Once you reach the later levels though, S.H.I.E.L.D. points become less useful, so you may choose to exchange Energy points with your friends, as these come in very handy later on.

Gifts Not Working:

If you are unable to accept your Friends' gifts on Facebook, you have probably reached your Gift limit for the day. This is to stop people with hundreds of friends that play the game from being given a huge advantage. You can only accept 50 gifts per day. If this is the case you should see a message saying 'Gift Limit Reached' at the top of the screen.

Unable to Advance

If you are unable to advance, or unlock any new missions, the chances are that this is because the game is only of a certain length. There are plans to continue adding more content to the game, but for now you will have to be content with replaying older missions to get more XP and currency for upgrading your team. Don't forget too that there is a PVP element to the game which you can amuse yourself with, playing against other people's teams to see how you match up.

Cheats

Cheats for getting Gold, Silver, Command Points or S.H.I.E.L.D. Points do not currently exist for Avengers Alliance. It has not been reported that the game has even been hacked, though if there are hacks that you try to use, you risk your Facebook account being suspended or banned. The point of the game is to earn your rewards and XP through hard work, so it cheapens the game to use hacks to get the currency of Avengers Alliance.
