Gameplay
Card City Nights is a card battle game with some character interaction and navigation thrown in. The premise within the game is that players from all over the city are trying to collect Legendary cards from each area so that they can battle and defeat the Card King. Players must travel to different locations and talk as well as do battle with characters in order to gain experience, get new cards, as well as push the story forward.

Currency
Coins are the game’s main currency. By winning battles, players will be able to earn coins which can be spent towards getting new cards. Minor battles will earn less coins while players will be able to get more by defeating bosses. While spending coins is not mandatory since defeating other characters wil earn you booster packs, doing this will ensure that you will be able to have more powerful cards in your hand.

Cards
Players will be able to earn as well as buy different cards which can then be used in battle. Each card has at least one arrow on the sides or corners, as well as a symbol which represents how it reacts whenever matches are made. There are four symbols in total, namely attack, defense, revive, and neutral. Players would be able to arrange up to six decks, and they can choose which one they would like to play before each battle. Decks usually have around 25 to 40 cards in total, although your arrangement will depend on both personal preferences and limitations set by the game.

As each card is divided into three categories, namely Common, Uncommon, and Rare, there is a limit as to how many of the same card of a specific category you can have on your deck. Specifically, you can have five instances of the same Common card in your deck, while Rate cards are limited to one. Players should also be able to balance the number of cards carrying which symbols in their deck to be truly effective and adaptive to the opponent’s type of deck and style of play.

Cards also have special abilities that can be triggered either upon placement, during each turn, or when certain conditions have been met. More skilled players will be able to use this to their advantage especially if they have the right cards that are able to work well with each other.

Game Mechanics
The game begins with a random coin toss in order to know who would go first. Each turn, players will place a card on their respective tables, which is represented by a three by three grid. The main goal is to either reduce your opponent’s health to zero, or to have them fill their grid until they can no longer place cards on it.

Cards should be placed in such a way that combos can be made. Combos are made whenever cards adjacent to or diagonal from each other are connected via arrows. Typically, three connections are required to make a combo, but certain cards will also allow just two connections to activate. Players would also be able to create combos of four or more depending on how well they are able to place their cards.

The symbols of the cards that are making the connection will also produce different results. If the majority of matched cards have the attack sign, then players will have the option to either attack a specific card of the opponent, or reduce the opponent’s health directly. The number of attack symbols will determine the damage that will be dealt. If the majority of symbols in the match is defense, then the player’s defense will be added with the number of defense cards on the match.

Revive cards, on the other hand, will allow players to revive cards that have been disabled by an opponent’s attack. This would then enable the card to participate in matches as well as trigger any abilities that the card may have. Lastly, neutral cards will not have any results and will always serve as the minority in any combination of matches. Once matches are made, the cards would disappear from the grid unless stated otherwise in their ability.

Should the number of symbols in a match be equal with each other, players have the option to choose which action they would like to do.

Tips and Tricks
Sometimes, being defensive or using mostly neutral cards is much more effective than actively trying to reduce your opponent’s defense to zero. The reason for this is that this will improve your chances of your opponent making mistakes and filling up their cards that will lessen the chances of them making matches. This will then increase the probability of them filling up their grid, winning you the match. Also, opponents will lose defense in increments should they run out of cards in their deck. They would still be able to have their turn, but at the cost of decreased defense with each turn until the opponent is defeated.

It would also be wise to ensure that you have cards that work well with each other. Certain cards have good abilities whenever paired with a certain card, so make sure to hunt down these combination cards and to try and make these combinations during gameplay. Still, this would all depend on your style of play and how you would be able to use your deck to its full potential.

Lastly, don’t forget to explore different areas that are available to you as well as to interact and battle with any and all available characters. This will enable you to earn different cards so that you will have more options on how to build your deck. Make sure that you have already built different decks for each type of situation, and to choose a different one should you feel that your current collection of cards would not stack up well against a player who has already defeated you on previous occasions.
