NVIDIA graphics card users that have the GeForce Experience app are in for a treat, as the company has launched another rather large update for the program that allows customization of game settings right from the app. This provides users with the option to forego the recommended settings and go with those that they know will suit their system best.
As a GeForce Experience user myself, I love that it knows my system and tunes the games to work properly for it. The problem comes from the fact that it automatically changes my games to run in full screen, and with a dual-display setup, this can prevent access to my second screen with some games. Now, this update allows you to set games to a borderless window, which is exactly what I, and many other users, were hoping to see from it.
In addition to the type of window, this update allows users to fine-tune other aspects of their game’s setting such as resolution and performance and quality settings. Essentially, it grants users access to the same settings that each individual game would have, but it does it from one convenient program, instead of through each one separately.
GeForce Experience 1.8 also brings some updates to ShadowPlay, NVIDIA’s video recording feature. It now records up to 20 minutes in Shadow mode, and unlimited video in manual mode. The 3.8GB file limit in Windows 7 is removed, which is a welcomed change for users. It also adds microphone recording, a feature sorely lacking from the initial release.
The Twitch streaming that was promised is still not available in ShadowPlay, so hopefully NVIDIA rolls that out soon. Still, this is a solid update that makes the already awesome program a little better.
