There are four main areas in the Tower. They include Tower North, Tower Watch, Tower Hangar, and Traveler’s Walk.
You can look at a map of the Tower if you speek to the robot at the base of the front steps.
The Hall of Guardians section of The Tower only opens up during Iron Banner Crucible events.
===========
TOWER NORTH
===========
Tower North has three points of interest. They are as follows:
-New Monarchy
-Outfitter
-Speaker
The New Monarchy is one of the three vactions that you can join in Destiny. When you are a part of the New Monarchy, they will give you class armor that corresponds with whatever class you chose. When you have their class armor equipped and gain XP, you will level up your ranking within their faction instead of leveling up your Crucible or Vanguard rank. This is so you can buy exclusive equipment from them. Of course, if you keep leveling up your Crucible and Vanguard rankings, you can also buy exclusive equipment from them as well.
The Outfitter is a bit hidden, so speak to the robots so you can get an idea of where you’re going so you can find her. Her name is Eva and she sells emblems as awell as armor shaders. Armor shaders are pretty cool and they are fairly rare in loot drops. Glimmer is the accepted currency from the Outfitter.
Finally, the third major point of interest at the Tower North is the Speaker. The Speaker is someone that you interact with in the story multiple times, but you can continue to talk to him to purchase special class armor and emblems. The currency that you use with the Speaker is Motes of Light.
===========
TOWER WATCH
===========
Tower Watch is the main area in the Tower. You will be spending the vast majority of your time on the Tower in this area of it.
Points of interest at the Tower Watch are as follows:
-Bounties
-Cryptarch
-Gunsmith
-Postmaster
-Special Orders
-Vaults
The bounty tracker is someone that you will be visiting probably the most when you play Destiny. Talk to him to get three different kinds of bounties. The first two kinds of bounties, the ones you will be dealing with the most, are Vanguard and Crucible bounties. Vanguard bounties are grey and they refer to bounties that deal with the co-op content. Crucible bounties are red and they deal with the PvP content. You can have up to five bounties at any given time. The third bounty type is very rare; it is called an Exotic bounty and they are multi-step bounties that will grant you access to Exotic gear if they are successfully completed.
The Cryptarch is another person that you will be visiting often at the Tower. He sells various encrypted engrams that you can buy from him, but that’s not what you’ll be spending your time with him for. Rather, you will be taking the encrypted engrams that you get from loot drops and bringing them to him so that he can decode them for you, free of charge.
The gunsmith sells various weapons, though they are usually not very powerful. He also sells a few consumable items. Except for a couple of times where you have to talk to him as part of your main objectives, you will not be spending a whole lot of time with the gunsmith.
The postmaster will sometimes have special packages for you or letters that are “bounty leads” that you can collect to get new kinds of bounties. Keep in mind that if you have a full inventory of five bounties that you will not be able to take out any bounty leads from the postmaster.
Located in the same building as the postmaster is Tess Everis, the special orders person. Speak with her and you can collect any “special orders” you have, such as emblems that you have been rewarded for playing the beta.
Finally, there are numerous vaults around here that you can use to dump gear that you don’t want to carry around but for some reason also don’t want to dismantle. The vault has limited space as well, so you can’t be a crazy hoarder in this game.
============
TOWER HANGAR
============
The four areas of interest in the Tower Hangar:
-Dead Orbit
-Future War Cult
-Quartermaster
-Shipwright
The Tower Hangar features four vendors of interest. The first two to know about is the Future War Cult and Dead Orbit. They are two of the three factions that are available to join in the game.
The Quartermaster is also here. The Quartermaster is a Vanguard-based vendor. You need to be Vanguard Rank 3 to buy most of the items tha tthe Quartermaster is selling, and he uses Vanguard Marks as currency. He sells a lot of Legendary gear as well as new Sparrows.
And finally, there’s the Shipwright. You have to speak with the shipwright on a couple of occasions due to main story reasons, but you can return to the shipwright whenever you want to get a new ship.
===============
TRAVELER’S WALK
===============
Access this area by going down the stairs in the Tower Watch section of the Tower. Here you will find three major points of interest:
-Events
-Vanguards
-Crucible
Whenever there are special events going on in Destiny, you can speak to the robot here for more information about them. Special events will come and go as Bungie constantly edits aspects of the game.
There are three Vanguards. They are the three dudes that are hanging out around the long table. You can purchase armor from them as well as legendary gear and emblems as well. They use Vanguard ranking and Vanguard Marks for their currency. Each of the Vanguards are specific to one of the three different classes in the game.
The Crucible does not refer to the usual PvP stuff (that is found in orbit), but rather a couple of vendors that you can talk to and purchase things from using your Crucible rank and Crucible marks. The Crucible Handler sells legendary armor and the Crucible Quartermaster sells Legendary weapons. They are located right across from each other as soon as you enter Traveler’s Walk. You do have to talk to the Crucible Handler once you reach level 5 so that you can unlock The Crucible to play in to begin with, though.

2. Collectibles
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
The Tower is home to collectibles as well. There are four dead ghosts that are located on the Tower that can be collected.
DEAD GHOST 1 – The first Dead Ghost to collect on the tower is up the stairs in the Tower Watch area. It is sitting on top of crates.
DEAD GHOST 2 – Located right by the Speaker on his shelves.
DEAD GHOST 3 – The table underground in the tower where you speak to your class’s Vanguard is a place you visit often. In the corner of this room is where you will find another Dead Ghost.
DEAD GHOST 4 – The fourth dead ghost at the Tower can only be collected during an Iron Crucible event. When an Iron Crucible is going on, the gates that lead to the Hall of Guardians will open up. The fourth dead ghost is on a railing in the Hall of Guardians.

3. Secrets
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
There are a few secrets in The Tower, mostly just goofy stuff that you can partake in.
For example, there is a ball and a soccer ball that you can knock around. These are both found in the Tower Watch area in plain sight.
Another secret of the Tower is the fan on top of the postmaster building. You can get a running start and land on the roof.
At that point, have another player climb the stairs that are across from this building. Have them go into the corner here by the railing and you will see a button pop up. Press that button to activate the fan. Now anyone or anything on the fan will start to float into the air.
