There are 4 downs before the ball is turned over, unless an interception, fumble or touchdown happens. Unlike in real football, 10 yards doesn’t equal a first down. Instead, after the 4th down, the ball will be turned over in its current field position. A touchdown will lead to an automatic 7 points for the team that scores it.

There are two buttons in the lower left corner of the screen. The right button is the “swap” button which will swap your leading card and your “on deck” card, and you get three of these per half. The left button is the “shuffle” button, and this one will pick out 2 new cards for you and 2 new cards for your opponent. You only get one of these per half.

During random plays, you may earn either a silver ball or a gold ball. At the end of the game you’ll be able to claim rewards, which can include card packs, money, gold (the premium currency of the game), or event tickets, which you can use to play in the Gridiron game. Also, at the end of each round, your players will gain experience points, which will increase each of their overall statistics.

The versus mode works similarly to the season mode except that there is one half per game, rather than 2 halves, and you play against random players and their teams. You can pick your opponent from a list that is matched to you by your overall team experience level.

Gridiron mode, however, is a whole other can of worms. All of those event tickets that you pick up in the game can be used in Gridiron mode. Spend one ticket to play against a player who is matched against you by overall gridiron ranking, or spend three tickets to go into “no huddle mode”, where your stats are multiplied by 1.5, giving you a huge advantage.
