Dead Ahead FAQ, Walkthrough and Beginner’s Guide

Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Dead Ahead, the new iOS endless running and zombie killing game by Chillingo! Dead Ahead takes you into a post apocalyptic zombie wasteland where your entire goal is to stay alive, while killing as many zombies as possible. To do this you ride on a moped, dirt bike, motorcycle or other bike, shooting at zombies using various guns, crashing into them to kill them, and generally causing as much carnage as possible while you stay alive.

To begin the game, you ride the scooter and fire the revolver, which are your basic bike and your basic pistol. Your first stage is the forest. Later on, as you unlock more stages, bikes and guns, you can switch them out in the Garage area before each round that you play.

Dead Ahead is easy to learn, yet is hard to master. When you start the stage you are already moving forward. You can swipe up or down on the right side of the screen to move your rider away from obstacles or towards zombies, or you can hit one of the two buttons on the left. The grey button is the accelerator button, which will cause your bike to move faster as you hold it, and will cause your rider to go into a wheelie.

When you hit an obstacle on your bike, you’ll either decelerate or be knocked off the bike, and when you are knocked off of the bike, you lose the game. Hitting zombies and roadblocks (with the accelerator off) will cause you to decelerate (hitting them with the accelerator still pressed down won’t cause you to lose speed at all). In addition, trying to slide downwards into the bottom wall or upwards against the top wall (or down or up against any parked car or other solid surface) will cause you to decelerate gradually.

When you fire your gun, your character will automatically reach back behind him and shoot. If there are zombies behind you, he’ll aim at them automatically, whether they are running zombies that are chasing you, or stationary zombies that you pass on the bike (yes, you can shoot them too). Combo kills are created by killing zombies quickly – if you kill a zombie within two seconds or less of killing the previous zombie, you’ll add one extra to your combo.
