Record Run is a new endless runner by Harmonix, who is best known for the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises, for the iOS platform, and coming soon to Android. This might be the first endless runner in history where you have to avoid obstacles to the beat of music. You can put your own songs into this game and run with them, leading to endless fun as well. Read on for some tips and tricks for Record Run!
When you play, you should have the sound up so that you can hear the music that’s playing. Your best bet for getting the highest score possible is to simply ignore the green blocks and pay attention to the beat of the music, changing lanes, sliding or jumping to the beat. It’s still possible to do everything with the sound off, it’s just MUCH tougher to do.
Timing the green blocks, and even the beats, is a challenge in and of itself. However, the best way to go is seemingly to hit at the latter end of each hit, rather than in the middle or early, as this will hit you a perfect note almost every time. Of course, the more perfect (and great) notes you get, the better of a score you’ll end up with, so try to hit every single perfect note in the stage.
Wanna make it easy to get five stars? Put shorter songs in. And always put songs in that have one consistent beat, unless you’re good enough that you feel like you can deal with beat changes. But until you’re that good, avoid the death metal and the old Metallica songs.
Records can be spent on various upgrades in the store, which will make it much easier to get a high score. Your best upgrades are the heart upgrades, as well as the arrow upgrades (which can cause your score to skyrocket). Backstage passes, the premium currency of the game, are required to unlock new characters and song slots – although if you delete the app and reinstall it, you can get all of your old empty song slots back!
Complete the missions that the game gives you in order to earn more backstage passes for free. Each set of three missions will earn you more and more backstage passes, which can then be spent on extra song slots in the game. If you’re getting errors when trying to add songs, then delete and reinstall the game and this might fix it.
