The Crown of Thorns, the most precious and revered relic in the Notre Dame Cathedral, has disappeared! Track down the artifact!

Whether you use this document as a reference when things get difficult or as a road map to get you from beginning to end, we’re pretty sure you’ll find what you’re looking for here.

This document contains a complete Hidden Mysteries: Notre Dame – Secrets of Paris game walkthrough featuring annotated screenshots from actual gameplay!

We hope you find this information useful as you play your way through the game. Use the walkthrough menu below to quickly jump to whatever stage of the game you need help with.

General Tips

• Click on the Menu (M) button in the lower left corner to exit, pause or resume the game. You can also adjust your options (sound, music, and screen size) and get hints.
• Sparkling (O) areas indicate Hidden Object Scenes.
• During Hidden Object Scenes the inventory bar (I) will change to an item list and a Hint Button (H) will appear. Collect all of the items in the list to complete the scene.
• The Hint will show you where a hidden object is.
• Some inventory items will require you to collect several pieces before it is usable.
• Right-clicking will show you any active area in a scene and all of the directions you can go.
• You can zoom into your Journal (J) to review clues you have picked up along the way. You will need your journal to solve mini games and puzzles.
• Mini-games can be skipped once the Skip Button (same as the Hint Button) is full.
• You can click on the Task button (T) to see what your current tasks. If you click on the “?” next to each task, it will give you help in completing the task.
• You can zoom into the Map (X) to see what location you are currently in and where you can move to.
• You will always click at the bottom of a scene to return to the last location.
• Rooms with a “?” on the map are currently unavailable and will require an action to unlock.
• Rooms with a fleur-de-lis have a puzzle or mini-game in it.
• When a magnifying glass appears over an item it means you can zoom in to it.
• Each time you play a Hidden Object Scene the items in the inventory list may change. The screenshots in this walkthrough shows the items as listed during the current gameplay.
• You will not need to follow the exact path that this walkthrough follows. There are no distinct levels or chapters in the game. The Introduction covers gameplay until most of the major locations are open.
• In Order to solve the Mystery you will need to follow the clues until you uncover four bookmarks place them in each of the matching bibles to find out who did it. This is how the gameplay is broken up in this walkthrough.

The Beginning

• Zoom into the sparkling statue (O) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.
• Pick up all of the items in the inventory list; all are marked in green in the walkthrough.
• The GLASS CUTTER will be added to your inventory.

• Move forward one scene and go to the right twice to the boat dock.
• Zoom into the boat (A) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The CAR KEYS will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Move back two scenes and go to the left to the corner café.
• Pick up the PLATE (green).
• Unlock the car trunk (B) with the CAR KEY’S and zoom in to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The ICE PICK will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Move back one scene and enter Notre dame (C).
• Pick up the three BROCHURES (green) then go through the door (D) on the right to enter the treasury.

• Zoom into the open cabinet (E) and use the GLASS CUTTER on the case.
• Move the pillow and pick up the SUN PENDANT (green).

• Go back out side and zoom into the plaque (F) on the ground.
• Place the SUN PENDANT in the center and arrange the pieces by swapping each one with another.
• If you open your journal, and you picked up all of the BROCHURES, you will see the solution. See the screenshot as well for the solution.
• Another CLUE will be added to your journal.

• Move one scene to your right and move forward towards the rectory.
• Unlock the gate (G) by spelling out C.R.O.W.N and enter the rectory.

• Zoom into the painting (H) and unscramble the slices by swapping each one with another to create the picture as shown in the screenshot. (Hint: start with the top or bottom and work slice by slice to the other end).
• Zoom into the fireplace (I) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• One of the STONE PIECES will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go through the door (J) at the back to enter the library.
• Zoom into the stairs (K) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The RUE LETTERS will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Return to the corner café and place the RUE on the sign (L).
• Pick up the KEY (green) from behind the sign.
• Zoom back into the car trunk to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The HEDGE CLIPPERS will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Return to Notre Dame and use the KEY to open the door (M) to the chapel.
• Zoom into the wooden pillar (N) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• One of the CARD QUEENS will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Use the ICE PICK on the first stone pillar (O) to get a one of the GLASS SHARDS.
• Move forward to the front of the chapel and take a sharp right to the confessionals.

• Zoom into the corner of the table (P) next to the statue and swap the PLATE from the café for the GOLD PLATE (green).
• Move back one scene and take a sharp right towards the altar and zoom into the prayer candles (Q) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• Another STONE PIECE will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Move forward to the altar and zoom into the cross (R) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.
• The DOOR HANDLE will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Move back one scene and go right to the garden doors.
• Zoom into the mother and child statue (S) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The ROPE will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Go back to the rectory and enter the library.
• Zoom into the stairs again to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The PEN will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go back one scene and go up the stairs (T).
• Place the door handle on the far right door (U) and enter the room.
• Move the pillow (V) and pick up the CARD (green).
• Open the cabinet (1) and pick up the CHAIN CUTTERS (green).
• Go back to the hallway.
• You can click on the other door (W) and click through the conversation.
• Exit the rectory and move one scene to the right to get to the boat docks.

• Pick up the STONE SIGN (green) using the ROPE.
• Return to the first scene and zoom back into the sparkling statue to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• Another CARD will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go to the right and pick up the PAMPHLET (green) then use the CHAIN CUTTERS to open the gate (X) and enter the crypt.
• Enter the middle room (Y) with the light on.
• Zoom into the wheel barrel (Z) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The BOX CUTTER will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go back one room and go left.
• Zoom into the excavated hole (A) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The LIGHT BULB will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Return to the rectory and zoom back into the fireplace to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

The Red Bookmark

• The MALLOT will be added to your inventory.
• Go up the stairs and enter the far right room.

• Replace the BULB in the lamp (C) and zoom into the base of the statue (D).
• Go back to the hallway and go upstairs to the attic.
• Use the BOX CUTTER on the painting (E) and pick up the note (green).
• Zoom into the shelf (F) and pick up the statue (green) with the matching symbol on its base as the one in the bedroom downstairs.
• Return to the crypt and zoom into the middle room again.

• Place the STATUE on the rock slab (G), break it with the MALLOT, and then pick up the KEY (green).
• Zoom into the wheel barrel to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The SHOVEL will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Go back to the first room in the crypt and move to the right.

• SHOVEL the loose dirt (H) and pick up another STONE PIECE (green).
• Zoom into the excavated hole again to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The PICK AXE will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Return to Notre Dame.

• Unlock the gate (I) with the KEY and enter the hallway.
• Go up the stairs (B), two scenes, to the landing and zoom into Esmeralda’s Cell (J) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The DRY CLOTH will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Pick up the PAMPHLET (green).
• Go through the far left door (K) to enter the upstairs hallway.
• Zoom into the sparkling right screen (C) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The CHOPSTICKS will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go back two scenes, halfway down the stairs, and zoom into the window (L).
• Remove the GLASS SHARD with the CHOPSTICKS and go back to the entryway.

• Go to the front of the chapel then go to the upper left corner to get to a doorway.
• Using the note you found in the attic (M) click on the floor tiles as shown in the screenshot.
• Use the PICK AXE in the center of the “X” and pick up the GLASS SHARD.
• Move back one scene and go to the right.
• Zoom into the prayer candles to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The CHISEL will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Move to the right again to the garden doors and zoom back into the mother and child statue to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The CANDLE SNUFFER will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go to the right one more time and pick up the PAPER (green) off of the chair.
• Place the STONE SIGN on the STATUE (N) and move through the conversation to receive the RED BOOKMARK.
• Move back two scenes and zoom into the altar (O).
• Zoom into the large vase (P) and remove the ROSARY with the CANDLE SNUFFER.
• Exit Notre Dame and go to the right two scenes, to the boat dock, and zoom into the boat to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• Another CARD will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Go back to the rectory and enter the library.

The Blue Bookmark

• Zoom into the red bible (Q) and place the RED BOOKMARK in it to collect a clue.
• Place the PLAYING CARDS on the table (R).

• Remove all of the cards to receive a clue for opening the garden doors. A winning sequence is shown in the screenshot. Pairs are color coded.
• Return to Notre Dame and go to the front of the chapel then right two scenes to get to the garden doors.

• Zoom into the lock (S) and set the two dials (yellow) to equal the first number in the combination as shown in your journal (T) and click the 1 button as shown in the screenshot.
• Repeat this step for the second, third and fourth numbers respectively as shown in the screenshot.
• Go through the doors to enter the garden.

• Trim the bush (U) with the HEDGE CLIPPERS and pick up the AXE.
• Return to the chapel and zoom back into the wooden pillar to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The KEYS will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Go back one scene, enter the gate, and up the stairs to the landing.
• Enter the far left door to the upstairs hallway.

• Zoom into the stone relief (V) on the wall and pry off the SWORD (green) with the CHISEL.
• Zoom into the sparkling right side to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The UMBERELLA will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go back to the landing and enter the far right door.
• Remove the VALVE from the gargoyles (X) mouth with the UMBERELLA.
• Drop the KEYS over the door (Y).
• Turn the keys in the numbered sequence (1-5) as shown in the screenshot. (Note: the sequence may change each play through, use the “?” if you need help).

• Go through the door and zoom into the top of the stairs (Z) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.
• The WOODEN KNOB will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Remove the boards (A) with the AXE and go through the hole.
• Zoom into the desk (B) and drop the PEN over the paper to receive the BLUE BOOKMARK.
• Go back down stairs and enter the front of the chapel.
• Move to the right and into the altar area.

The Green Bookmark

• Zoom into the blue bible (C) and place the BLUE BOOKMARK in it to receive another clue.
• Zoom into the cross (D) to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• Another ROSARY will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.

• Go back to the garden and place the VALVE on the fountain (E) and dip the DRY RAG in it once the water is on.
• Return to the entryway of Notre Dame and drag the WET RAG over the picture (F). A clue will be added to your journal.

• Go through the gate and zoom into the coat of arms plaque (G).
• Swap the shields to match the screenshot and pick up the last GLASS SHARD (green).
• From the front of the chapel, go to the left to the confessionals.

• Zoom into the confessional (H) and place the KNOB on the panel (I) to pick up the FOUNDATION BRICK (green).
• Drop the GLASS SHARDS over the broken window (J) and swap the glass panes, until all of the edges match another’s edges color as shown in the screenshot.
• Once you have finished the GREEN BOOKMARK will be added to your inventory.
• Go back upstairs and zoom into Esmeralda’s Cell to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The Candle stick will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Go through the door on the right and through the net door then zoom into the top of the stairs to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The CHEESE will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Go back to the landing and enter the far left door to the upstairs hallway.

The Yellow Bookmark

• Move down the hallway and place the GREEN BOOKMARK on the green bible (K) to receive another clue.
• Place the CHEESE in front of the mouse (L) and pick up the GOBLET (green).
• Go back to the entryway and enter the treasury through the far right door.

• Zoom into the shelf (N) and place the PLATE, GOBLET, and the CANDLE STICK as shown in the screenshot.
• Pick up the ROSARY from the now open panel (O) and go outside.

• Zoom into the stone relief (P) on the outside of Notre Dame and drop the STONE PIECES over it.
• Place the PIECES as shown in the screenshot to receive the GREEN GEM and return to the crypt.

• Zoom into the blocked doorway (Q) and place the GEM in the slide.
• Swap all of the green gems with the purple gems by moving them one at a time. One solution is as follows: move in order, as numbered in the screenshot, 3, 4, (into the middle) 7, 8, (into 3, and 4 original positions) 3, (into 8 original position) 8 back to the greenside and 2 into the middle. Move 1 to the middle and 7 to 1’s original position.

• See the screenshot for current positions (R).
• Move 1 into 4’s original position and move 8, 6 and 5 over.
• Move 2 and 4 from the middle into 5 and 6’s original position then move 6 and 5 to the middle. Move 1 to the green side and 5 and 6 to the purple side to unlock the door.
• Enter the room and place the FOUNDATION BRICK in the wall (S) to receive the YELLOW BOOKMARK.
• Go back to Notre Dame and go to the upstairs landing.

Solving the Mystery

• Zoom into the yellow bible (T) and place the YELLOW BOOKMARK in it to receive a clue.
• Go back to the rectory and go upstairs.
• Knock on the middle door (U).
• When you are done with the conversation, click on the bishop (V) to receive the last ROSARY and go to the attic.

• Drag the ROSARIES over the chest (W).
• Place the crosses as shown in the screenshot to unlock the chest. (Hint: use the arrows to flip the crosses by holding them over the arrows and clicking).
• Zoom back into the chest to trigger a Hidden Object Scene.

• The CROWN will be added to your inventory once all the items (green) are collected.
• Return to Notre Dame and enter the treasury.

• Zoom back into the glass case (X) and place the CROWN inside it.
• Congratulations! You have solved the mystery and returned the Crown!
