Chapter 1: Getting Started

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • Choose a level (A) on the map screen to play it. You must clear the levels in order.
  • The number of stars you’ve earned for each level is displayed above the number (B).
  • Select the world button (C) to travel between worlds once you’ve unlocked them.
  • Tap the arrow (D) to bring up the settings tab.
  • Select the backpack icon (E) to view the boosts you’ve unlocked, and to purchase more boosts to use.
  • Select the settings icon (F) to adjust the game’s music and sound effects volume, view instructions on how to play, log into your Facebook account, and ‘Like’ the game on Facebook.
  • On the map screen you can view your energy (G), Jade (H), unread messages from Facebook friends (I), total number of stars (J), and the time until you receive your next in-game reward (K).
  • The map contains gates with numbers on them (L). That number is the number of stars you must earn in order to unlock the next part of the map.

  • After you’ve selected a level to play from the map, you’ll see a preview screen.
  • This screen displays your objectives for the level: one primary objective (M), which is always to save the pandas, and two secondary objectives (N).
  • You will earn a star for each objective completed.
  • Tap the Preview button (O) to open up a sneak peek at what the level looks like (P). You’ll see the shape of the board, and the location of the pandas and any obstacles.
  • Tap Play (Q) to start the level. This will cost 1 Energy.

Chapter 2: How to Play

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • Tap two matching tiles that have at least one side edge (either the left or the right) to clear them from the board. Example (R).
  • To pass the level, you must match the two panda tiles (S). The panda tiles will glow yellow to indicate that they are free to be matched.
  • The gong (T) will glow green (U) to indicate that there are no more moves left in that turn.
  • Tap the gong to end your turn and begin a new turn. New tiles will fall from the top of the screen, and tiles will slide downwards to fill in the empty spaces on the board.
  • The number on the gong indicates the number of turns remaining.
  • Level goals are displayed along the top of the screen (V).
  • Matching the pandas will end the level, but you can keep playing after achieving either of the two secondary goals.
  • Matching the pandas with extra turns remaining triggers ‘Pandamonium.’ Special tiles will appear on the board — one tile for every extra turn left over — and explode, clearing the tiles around them and triggering massive points bonuses.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • When you run out of turns, you have three options:
  • End the game and return to the main map (W).
  • Replay the level again from the beginning by spending 1 Energy (X).
  • Spend Jade to add two extra turns to your current game, which lets you continue from where you left off (Y).
  • You may continue to spend Jade on extra turns as many times as you want, but you will have to spend a little more Jade each time.
  • Check if you have enough Energy or Jade to complete the transaction here (Z).

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • You will earn 1 Energy and 1 star for every objective you complete (A).
  • You will only earn Energy for completing the objective the first time, not during replays of the level.
  • The score you earned is displayed here (B).
  • Replay (C) allows you to spend 1 Energy and replay the level if you’ve missed an objective or want to try to get a higher score.
  • Next (D) returns you to the map screen.
  • Brag (E) lets you post your results onto Facebook, or send them to a friend via email.

Chapter 3: Special Tiles

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • In addition to the standard tiles that appear randomly on the board (such as wind tiles, water tiles, sand tiles, and sword tiles), there are additional tiles with special properties.
  • Blasts (F): These tiles will clear an entire row or column when matched with a tile of the same type. Blasts can run either horizontally or vertically, depending on the direction of the arrows. Blasts can be chained together. A blast will remove one bar of life from any obstacle it comes into contact with. Blasts cannot travel through metal tiles.
  • Gold Tiles (G): Match gold tiles to fill the Panda Paw meter. When the meter is full, explosive panda paw tiles will drop on the next turn, which can clear many tiles and destroy obstacles.
  • Typhoons (H): Typhoons destroy many tiles on the board when matched, or when they come into contact with each other by dropping into adjacent spaces.
  • Chance Blocks (I): When chance blocks are tapped, they function like a coin toss that triggers a randomized good or bad event. The chance block will either blow up all surrounding tiles in a one-tile radius, or turn all surrounding tiles into obstacles. Chance blocks don’t have to be tapped as a pair, and tapping one will not break a streak.
  • Fireworks (J): Will explode if next to a fire block, destroying many surrounding tiles.
  • Panda Paw Tiles (L): These appear on the board when Pandamonium is triggered, either by filling up the Panda Paw meter or by ending the game with turns left over on the board. These tiles explode, to destroy surrounding tiles and obstacles.

Chapter 4: Obstacles

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • Obstacles behave differently from regular tiles. They can’t be cleared by matching them, and they remain on the board until destroyed. They often block access to the panda tiles, so it’s important to get them off the board as quickly as possible.
  • Metal Tiles (M): These blocks cannot be destroyed or moved. You simply have to work around them. They also block blasts from travelling any further.
  • Rock Tiles (N): A rock can be destroyed by matching any type of tile next to it, or by an explosion or blast. Rocks can take up to three hits to be destroyed. The number of hits remaining is displayed in the life bar underneath the rock tile.
  • Ice Tiles (O): Ice can be destroyed by causing a block to fall on top of it, or by an explosion or blast. Ice tiles can take up to three hits to be destroyed.
  • Dragon Tiles (P): A dragon can be destroyed by matching a sword tile that is touching it, or by matching many sword tiles to gradually drain the dragon’s health meter down to zero. Dragons can also be damaged by explosions and blasts. Dragons eat tiles that are touching them at the beginning of each turn, which makes them disappear.
  • If there are multiple dragons on the board, the last sword you match in the pair determines which dragon gets attacked – the dragon closest to the sword will be attacked.
  • Sand Tiles (Q): Remove sand tiles by matching wind tiles next to them. Sand can take up to three hits to be destroyed, and can also be damaged by explosions and blasts.
  • Fire Tiles (R): Remove fire tiles by matching water tiles next to them. Fire can also be destroyed by explosions and blasts. If fire tiles are allowed to remain on the board for too long, they will turn the tiles around them into fire as well.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • Drills (R3): Drills drill down one space after each turn, including through other obstacles like rocks. Drills will damage the obstacle directly below them by removing one bar of energy each turn. Drills can be damaged by matching lightning tiles adjacent to the drill.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • Smoke Tiles (R1): Smoke tiles automatically dissipate a little more each turn until they disappear. Smoke takes up to three turns to disappear; the number of turns remaining is shown by the number of eyes. Smoke can be damaged by blasts.
  • Turtles (R2): Turtles wander around the board by moving one space to the left or right at the beginning of the turn, provided that space is free from obstacles like fire or metal. Turtles will swap places with the tiles that they move on top of. Turtles can’t be damaged or removed.

Chapter 5: Objectives

  • Each level has three objectives to complete.
  • Save the Pandas: This is the primary objective of every level. Save the pandas by matching the panda tiles on the board. Completing this objective ends the level.
  • Clear a certain number of tiles of a certain type: For example, ‘Remove 30 Leaf Tiles.’
  • Streaks: Earn streaks by matching pairs of tiles correctly without making any mistakes.
  • High Score: Rack up bonus points by achieving high streaks to trigger points multipliers. You earn more bonus points the higher your streak is. You also earn bonus points for matching multiple pairs of like tiles in a row.
  • Clean Sweep: Match all the tiles on the board with no single tiles left over. Explosions and blasts can help clear away those pesky odd numbered tiles.
  • Destroy Obstacles: Clear a certain number of one type of obstacle, such as Ice Tiles or Dragons.
  • Destroy All Hazards: Complete this objective by destroying all obstacle tiles on the board.
  • Turn Limit: Win the level in a certain number of turns. Focus on making matches that give you access to the pandas as efficiently as possible.
  • Sometimes it’s better to focus on only completing one secondary objective in a level instead of two, since radically different strategies can be required. Otherwise, you could end up spending a lot of Jade on extra turns.

Chapter 6: Boosts

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • After level 25 you can start to use boosts. Boosts increase the chance that a certain kind of tile will appear on the board by 20%.
  • After you’ve selected a level, the Boost screen appears. It shows you which boost you currently have selected (S). This will be applied to the level you’re about to play.
  • Change the boost by tapping (S) and choosing a different one.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • If you don’t wish to equip a Boost, unselect all boosts here (T).
  • The number in the upper-left of each boost indicates how many more of that type of boost you have (U). You start off with 3 boosts. Once they run out, you can purchase more with Jade by tapping the + Sign (V).
  • Not all boosts are available for every level. Some of the boxes might appear locked (W).
  • You don’t always need to equip a boost to be successful in a level. It’s best to save your boosts for levels that are especially challenging and tricky.
  • Look at your level objectives, and the layout of the level, for clues about which boost to equip. For example, if one of the objectives is to clear all fire tiles from the board, the boost that adds 20% more water tiles to the board (X) is a good choice.

Chapter 7: Tips and Tricks

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • You don’t score any extra points for making matches quickly, so take your time and plan out the best strategy to take.
  • Matching the pandas will end the level, so make sure you complete secondary goals before matching the pandas.
  • Tiles that can be matched will be highlighted in a lighter color than the tiles that aren’t yet free (Y). The exception is the panda tiles, which always appear light.
  • Always match a tile that is blocking another tile if you have a choice, rather than clearing a tile that is already free on one side.
  • If you wait a few seconds, the game will highlight possible moves by making the tiles jiggle.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • Tiles fall from the top of the screen downward to fill empty spaces. You can use this rule to strategically leave tiles on the board instead of matching them in order to clear obstacles on the next turn. For example, leave wind tiles (Z) on the board to drop onto sand tiles (A) in the next turn – that way you’ll be able to match the wind tiles and clear the sand.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • In later levels, sometimes the only way to clear an obstacle is by arranging tiles so that they drop into correct place on the next turn. For example, the only way to clear the fire (B) is by leaving space for a Chance Block or Panda Paw to fall into the space diagonal to it (C) to trigger an explosion.
  • Triggering Pandamonium provides a scoring bonus and also can be useful to destroy hazards that you can’t get to any other way. One Paw appears on the board for every turn remaining.
  • Ensure that Panda Paws drop where you want them, instead of randomly, by leaving only a few empty spaces on the board (such as next to the obstacle you want to destroy) and ending your turn. On the beginning of the next turn the Panda Paws will drop into the areas you cleared. This can be useful to get rid of pesky hazards that are hard to reach.
  • An effective strategy for destroying dragons is to leave one tile underneath a sword that is about to fall on top of, or next to, a dragon. The dragon will eat the tile, which will cause the sword to slip next to the dragon so that when the turn begins you’ll be able to match it.
  • Sometimes it makes more sense to leave a drill on the board instead of destroying it. Drills can be an easier way to get rid of obstacles instead of having to match specific kinds of tiles next to the obstacle.
  • Giving an Energy to a friend also gives you one.

Chapter 8: Energy and Jade

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • You must spend 1 Energy to play a level.
  • When you run out of energy, you can: Wait for the meter to refill. The number of minutes until you receive another energy is displayed here (D). Spend Jade to refill your energy back to the top (E). If you’re logged into Facebook, post a message asking your friends to send you energy (F).
  • You can also spend Jade to permanently expand your energy capacity by 1 (G).
  • You can spend the in-game currency, Jade, to speed things up. As well as instantly refilling your Energy, you can spend Jade to immediately trigger a Tycoon or Panda Paw explosion on the game board.
  • If you haven’t earned enough Stars to open a gate on the main map, you can spend Jade to instantly unlock it.

Panda PandaMoniumPanda PandaMonium

  • You can earn Jade by playing the Jade Board bonus game (H), which is unlocked after beating Level 6.
  • Match like tiles to clear them from the board and earn the number of Jades on each tile.
  • You can play the Jade Board once every several hours.
  • You can also earn Jade in various other ways, such as logging into Facebook for the first time, and leaving feedback about the game when prompted.
  • You can acquire larger amounts of Jade by buying it with real-world cash.
