Starcraft 2 Larva Tactics And Tricks
If you are a player of the Zerg, then this article will give you crucial information that you need to learn about Starcraft 2 Larva tactics. This basic unit is the foundation of all Zerg ground and air units and so knowing about this unit is important.
These units only have 25 hit points. However their durability is enhanced by their ten armor which absorbs a lot of enemy fire. This armor helps keep them alive if they come under attack by enemy units. They are mainly produced by two different ways, automatic and spawning from the Spawn Larva ability of a Queen. By using the Spawn Larva ability it is possible to create four young larvae in forty seconds. In addition, each hatchery can support a maximum of 19 larvae. Additional larvae produced over this cap will die instantly.
The larva has a great deal of armor although it is still vulnerable to units that deal a large amount of damage in a single shot. Such units include the Siege Tank when sieged as well as the Immortal. When facing other Zerg opponents you should also keep in mind that a single Baneling can kill multiple larvae in one blast and thus shut down production at the blast's location.
Without the use of the Spawn Larva ability these creatures will normally spawn from a Hatchery, Lair, or a Hive at a relatively slow rate of one larva every fifteen seconds. Once one of these structures reaches three larvae, the natural larva spawn timer for that particular structure is suspended. This timer is resumed once there are less than three larvae. Larvae that are spawned by the Spawn Larva ability also count towards this cap.
Given the slow natural spawning rate of larvae it is recommended to have one Queen assigned to each hatchery in order to make use of the Spawn Larva ability. Queens regenerate their energy quickly enough in order to be able to use their Spawn Larva ability continually.
It is interesting to note that the Queen is also the only unit that is not created from the larva. They are instead created at the Hatchery, Lair or Hive. You should also note that if a larva moves off of the creep it will die instantly. This usually happens when the Hatchery that is supporting the larva dies off as it produces Creep around itself while alive.
Larvae cannot be directly controlled by the player. The larvae can only be ordered to change into another Zerg creature. One larva will morph into one creature except in the case of Zerglings where the larva will morph into a pair of Zerglings for 50 minerals.
