Total War Games I Want To See

total war

I like history, I like video games. When you put those two together, you get Total War, The Creative Assembly's wildly popular computer strategy game. Perhaps what makes the Total War games stand out compared to other strategy games is its ability to not only let players manage factions, but also gives players real-time tactical control of the battle. Beginning in 2000 with Shogun: Total War, to the 2012 Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai, a total of 16 Total War games and expansions were released. And now, as Creative Assembly prepares to announce the next Total War project on July 6, here is four Total War games I would love to see.

Rome 2 Total War

rome

Without a doubt, Rome 2 is on the top of my list. The original game was released in 2004 and featured jaw-dropping graphics and some of the best in-game music ever. The game was so simple, yet so brilliant and fun to play. But I must admit, I've been spoiled by the wonderful interface of Shogun 2, and I wish they will base the Rome 2 on that interface. Technology research is a must, as is diplomacy without the need of using a diplomat. It would also be cool if Rome 2 went more in-depth about conspiracies and assassinations. Politics of the Roman Empire was not clean!

Also, they need to bring back city view. Maybe upgrade it a little so we can actually see people interacting with each other, going to the market, etc. instead of just walking around aimlessly.

China Total War

three kingdoms

China has a long history without any shortage of warfare, and I feel it's a country that has been neglected by The Creative Assembly.

The Three Kingdoms is probably a period people are most familiar with. It's been made famous by the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and all the movies and games that was based on it. A Three Kingdoms mod exists for Rome, but the English version is gone and only the Chinese version exists. The Three Kingdoms period saw the deployment of massive armies with hundreds of thousands of men, and the Chinese developed new weapons and tactics. A Three Kingdoms Total War would be awesome.

Middle East Total War

broken cresent

Broken Crescent is an awesome mod, and a Total War game based on the rise of the Islamic empires would definitely be a game I want to play. Medieval Two: Kingdoms explored this area with the Crusades Campaign but that was still a bit Eurocentric. The only European empire they should include is the Byzantine Empire.

Victorian Age Total War

shogun 2

Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai had large aspects of European technology, but there was still a lot of melee units. In Europe at the same time, firearms replaced almost all melee weapons. And Europe at that time was far from peaceful. There was the Crimean War, the Austro-Prussian War, the Franco-Prussian War, the Russo-Turkish War, and many others. In America, there was the Civil War. Imagine making a Total War game in which you can play as the British Empire taking advantage of the Civil War to reconquer America!
