Plants vs. Zombies 2: Making it Through Level 13

Plants vs. Zombies 2

Plants vs. Zombies 2

If you thought level 12 was hard, wait until you make it to stage 13 in the Big Wave Beach world in Plants vs. Zombies 2. This is one of those stages that pretty much challenges you in every possible way. First of all, you have to produce more than 2,000 sun over the course of the stage, but you are never allowed to have more than 16 plants at once on the battlefield. Then, there are four big waves of zombies and the entire map is flooded. If you are an avid reader, you will have realized that pretty much all of these factors negate each other. This means that you will need a lot of luck, great timing, and strategically refined gameplay in order to survive. But hey, we made it through after approximately 20 tries!

In level 13, you will face the familiar cast of beach zombies. You will encounter regular zombies, Coneheads, Bucketheads, Snorkel Zombies, Imp Mermaid Zombies, and Surfer Zombies. We recommend equipping yourself with Twin Sunflowers, Snapdragons, Lightning Reeds, Infi-nuts, Lily Pads, Tangle Kelps, and Bowling Bulbs (pretty much our standard team in the Big Wave Beach update).

The beginning of the stage: Save those Sunflowers from drowning!

First thing you should do when you start the level is get rid of those existing Lily Pads. We wouldn’t recommend using them for the basis of your setup as they are awkwardly positioned in the middle of the stage. Instead, destroy them and collect the sunlight for them. The other thing we would recommend is always having one extra plant available to make good use of the Tangle Kelps. As soon as their respawn time is over, use them. Constantly positioning them to take down Surfer Zombies, Snorkel Zombies, or Buckethead Zombies will make your life much easier.

See how we have one plant left? We will direly need it in a second...

Aside from that try to follow our setup as seen on the screenshot above. Have three Twin Sunflowers and feed them some green leaf buffs if need be. Try not to use too many Infi-nuts as they take up two direly needed available plants. What will make or break you in this level of Plants vs. Zombies 2 is how you use your green leaf buffs and when you rely on your lawn mowers (aka boat engines). We did not make it through the level without putting them to good use. Also, be prepared for that one wave of zombies which features one Surfer Zombie in each lane.

The round in which we succeeded. We got rid of the sunflowers after we collected 2,000 sunlight.

Aside from following these general tips, we unfortunately did not find one surefire way to set up our plants that easily allowed us to make it through this stage. Great timing for using your buffs is what will allow you to succeed in this level of the free tower defense game.
