Review of Bears Vs Art

When you first start out playing Bears vs. Art, you will see a beginning story which talks about Rory the bear, and his quest to destroy all of the art in the galleries. You can skip this introduction if you want, which then takes you right into level 1. Basically, the premise of this game is to get Rory the bear to the various pictures in the art galleries and museums using certain movements and points on the floor. You might have to tap him to go left or right and maybe up or down, and sometimes it’s not as easy as it looks. You just tap the screen to get Rory to move, tapping the tile that you want Rory to move to, and you get directional paws to help you locate all of the pictures. Once he sees a picture, it comes up on the screen, then you swipe it so that his paw is going through the picture to destroy it.

When you progress in the game, some of the levels are timed and others require you to get the pictures in a certain amount of moves. This is great because it puts a lot of variations in the game so that you are not always doing the same thing over and over. You will easily get past the first 10 or 15 levels without these types of challenges in your way though, but after level 15 anything can happen. Sometimes you might not even be going after the art at all, because Rory doesn’t like the patrons of the museums either. You might be asked in some of the goals of the levels to take out the patrons, so you have to plot your moves to get Rory to knock out all of the patrons.

Between some levels needing all of the art destroyed and some needing the patrons knocked down, there is quite a bit of variation in what you will be doing. This game is also deceptive because you might think just moving the bear from one tile to another is easy, but there is a lot of strategy involved to get Rory to all the pieces of art or all the patrons. Sometimes it might take you a while to figure out how to get him to a certain spot at the museum, especially if it’s near a bend or corner in the level. Obstacles and other dangers will also come into play the higher in levels you go, so there might be objects in your way blocking you from moving. When that happens, you have to backtrack or figure out how to get around the obstacles in the way, and this requires some attention and thought. You might find a floor that changes directions when you land on it or in the middle of the level or a security guard blocking you, and these are all things you will have to figure out ways to get around.

The best part about this game is that it’s really fun because it’s simple in the premise but it’s a game that will challenge your mind. After all, this is a puzzle game, which means there will be some brain power used to figure out the harder levels, and the more obstacles the level has, the harder it is to beat without starting over and retracing your initial steps. This is one of those games that younger children could play, but they might not understand the thought processes involved in strategy, which means it’s more for teenagers and adults. There is not really gore in the game, besides taking out the patrons for the most part, so it’s not a graphically gruesome game. You will love this game as you progress and enter new worlds and environments, with some special islands and crazy details that make this game worth playing for hours on end.
