Once you have set up your own neighborhood with buildings that allow you to collect resources, you will be able to start recruiting new Bosses.
The Bosses in Clash of Mafias are rated from one start up to ten stars, with ten stars being the best. After you have recruited a nice group of Bosses, you can start attacking other neighborhoods, because you will be strong enough to take them out. This way, you will also earn more in-game money, shots, experience points and boosters.
If you want to be feared by more players, you should definitely think about joining an Alliance, which basically is a group of players that are working together. Being in an Alliance will show other players that you are protected and that you should definitely not be attacked. Of course, it is still very much possible that you will get attacked, but it will be much less compared to when you stand alone. Playing Clash of Mafias with other players also makes the gameplay more entertaining.
If you enjoy playing city-builder games with a twist that allows you to attack other players and their cities, than Clash of Mafias is just the game for you. I really like the fact that you can arrange your neighborhood as you wish, without being restricted to a maximum amount of buildings. It is nice to see that there are so many different building designs, character designs, boss designs and that there is such a large city in the game, with many neighborhoods.
A very positive aspect about Clash of Mafias is that the developers did not implement any advertisements into the game. I definitely do not mind when developers implement advertisements into their games; however, a lot of developers go overboard and do not know a thing about proper ad-placement. Luckily, this was not the case with Clash of Mafias at all, and I am happy that there were no advertisements at all.
Unfortunately, Clash of Mafias also has several negative aspects. For starters, the developers have implemented a lot of limitations into the game. For example, you have a stamina bar in the game, and every time you attack another neighborhood, you will lose some of your stamina. Once you lose all of your stamina, you will either have to wait for the bar to get replenished automatically, or you will have to pay a lot of premium crystals to replenish it right away.
Another limitation is when you try to construct buildings in your own neighborhood. Every time you start constructing a building, you will have to wait a certain amount of time for that building to finish. Of course, you can instantly finish constructing a building by spending premium crystals on it, but this just costs a lot of money. You are also limited to how many buildings you can construct at once. In order to construct more than two buildings at a time, you will have to upgrade your building queue, which costs a lot of premium crystals.
You can earn free premium crystals by completing offers through Tapjoy, which brings me to the second negative aspect about Clash of Mafias. The offers that you receive through Tapjoy usually entail that you have to download a different game or app and test it out. This should award you with a small amount of premium crystals.
However, it often happens that you do not receive anything at all, because Tapjoy cannot “Verify” that you really completed the offer. This on itself is very annoying and obstructive, because players expect to be rewarded when they spend time completing offers. The developers of Clash of Mafias should definitely look into this issue as soon as possible.

Artwork: I give Clash of Mafias an 8/10 for its artwork. The graphics in Clash of Mafias are pretty decent, especially considering that it is a free-to-play mobile game. I really like the fact that there are so many different designs within the game, such as all the different buildings, items, neighborhoods and Bosses. It is also nice to see that there are many animations and special effects, especially when you are attacking another neighborhood and using your special attacks.
Music & SFX: I give Clash of Mafias a 7/10 for its music and SFX. There is only one soundtrack and multiple different sound effect in Clash of Mafias, which are also of decent quality. The soundtrack is thrilling and matches the overall theme of the game. The sound effects range from main menu button SFX to using special attacks SFX. Both the soundtrack and sound effects fit well together with the graphics and animations of the game.
Story & Originality: I give Clash of Mafias a 6/10 for its story and originality. I do not believe that Clash of Mafias is very original, especially because I have played several other mobile games with similar game mechanics and features. I do like the fact that the game has a backstory and that you are able to easily create your own story by simply playing the game.
General Gameplay: I give Clash of Mafias a 7/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in Clash of Mafias starts with a tutorial, in which you learn how to properly play the game, how to construct buildings, how to recruit new Bosses and how to attack other neighborhoods. Once you have played Clash of Mafias for a while, the gameplay becomes straightforward. The controls are smooth and responsive and the user interface fits the overall theme of the game.
Addictiveness: I give Clash of Mafias a 5/10 for addictiveness. I can unfortunately not rate the addictiveness of Clash of Mafias higher than a five out of ten, because of the fact that there are many playtime limitations implemented in the game. The limitations comes in the form of a stamina bar and construction timers. These really slow down the pace of the game, which is very negative in my opinion and lowers the addictiveness of the game. Of course, you can use premium crystals to speed things a long, but the developers of Clash of Mafias should know that not everyone wants to, or is able to spend money on a free-to-play mobile game.
All things considered, I give Clash of Mafias a 7/10.
