Ruzzle, by MAG Interactive, is fast paced word game that has you find as many words in a grid of letters. You play against people online (either your Facebook friends or random players) to see who is the quickest. Similar to games like Words with Friends, it is turn based, having players play one round, then waiting for their opponent to finish theirs. The player with the most points by the end of three rounds is the winner. You then level up and unlock things as you go along. Ruzzle is available for 2016 on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
Very similar to Words with Friends, Ruzzle has letter tiles, each with their own number values, and even bonuses such as Double Letter or Triple Word score. But Ruzzle is not just some Scrabble clone, it puts the whole concept on its own head and has a very creative twist to it. Instead of a board of black spaces to place tiles, there is a 4×4 board of already placed tiles. It is up to you to find and make words from the pre-assembled word scramble.
To do this, you start at a letter, then drag your finger across and make a path with other letters to complete a word. You also have only one minute to get as much points as you can. After that, you wait for your opponent to take their turn, then you can progress to round 2. After round 3, the player with the highest score wins.

Ruzzle has seemed to tackle this challenge very well. Upon first playing, you are asked if you want to connect your social media accounts. Matchmaking is a god send. You can easily find a match in literally seconds. The longest it took to find a match for me was one minute, in which I played a solo practice round, then returned to have found a player ready to play with. On top of that, the community of players is consistent with response time, completing their rounds as soon as I finished mine, hence completing a game in no more than five minutes of real time. This may be due to the fast nature of the game, as opposed to Word with Friends that has no time limit per turn. The game deign behind this is pretty great, and even considers time of a match a lot more than other turn based games.
There is also an XP system that grants you prizes for each level you reach. The rewards vary from free premium things (such as Word Reveal shows each available word after a round, to help you learn words for next time) or coins that can be used to purchase premium stuff. The in-app purchases are there for your convenience, but are not necessarily a pay to win system. I find them not necessary at all to enjoy the game in it’s free state, but also not adding to the experience if bought. (The game’s main and primary revenue source is most likely the occasional pop-up ad after a round).
As much as this is a word based game, it is also a score based game. Your goal should be to get the most words, getting the highest score right? Well, since each tile a letter value, and that value can change based on the TW or DL score boosts, the more higher scoring words, the better. I easily beat someone with 40 words with only 20 words based just on my score. The key of the game is to always be trying a word out.
As soon as a round starts, look for the first word you can make, whether it be something like The or He, always be making words. At the same time, look as the bonus tiles and bonuses they have. That being said, do not get hung up on the triple letter score of a 1 point tile, when there is a double letter score on a 2 point tile. Attack the highest scoring bonus until you get stuck, then go onto the next one, and repeat until you are back to the highest with a fresher mindset. Also, try your best to combine the score bonuses together, to rack an even higher score.
Even if you are not some English major, or have ever read the dictionary, there are a variety of hardly known words you can use. Make up words, they might be an actual word. You do not have to use the word or even know what it means to get the points off of it, so guess your heart out.
At the same time, look around for words you do know. On top of that, do not forget the letter S. Add it to every word you have just done; if you just did Hat, do Hats. This gives you the exact same score (plus some) for literally the same word.
Overall, Ruzzle is an extremely simple, hard to master, addicting game. Using the Scrabble and Words with Friends concept and putting it in a fast paced strategy game really pays off and makes for an entertaining experience.
The concept adds on top of an existing one, making it easy to pick up and learn, but is original enough to keep you intrigued and interested enough to play every day, several times a day. Matchmaking is top of the line and gets you playing in seconds, keeping you on the game for hours on end.
Although the leveling system seems pretty pointless, it does give a sense of accomplishment. In essence, Ruzzle is a great game that will have me playing pretty much every day in 2016.

Artwork
Based on artwork, I would give Ruzzle total rating of 7/10. The reason behind this is because the artwork is simple like normal puzzle games you have. The word game is used to find words provided based on the letters you are given. Depending on how the word you created, you earn more points. This game is pretty simple and pretty interesting I like the fact that there is not a lot of artwork based on puzzle games. Like other puzzle games, this is simple, addicting and free to play. In conclusion this is why I gave the app game ruzzle a total rating of 7/10.
Music and Sfx
Based on music and sfx, I would give ruzzle a total of a rating of 7/10. I like the sound effects when you create specific words. For example if you are able to create a big long word, you get a big sound effect such as a bling which indicates that you have made a lot of points worth getting. The sounds are not annoying as it is a simple background sounds and music. There is technically no music that I have found, but I am sure if you check the settings there will be some types of music to enable. In conclusion there isn’t a lot to discuss about due to the fact that this game is a puzzle based game, all the formats are simple and have not much to compare about. In conclusion this is why I rate the in game app ruzzle a total rating of 7/10.
Story and Originality
I would give ruzzle a total rating of 6/10 based on story and originality. I like the fact that there are many types of games in the app store now days. Although this is a new type of game in the app store the originality isn’t quite the same. These types of puzzle games have been around for ages based on newspaper, computer digital, copy backs such as paper and textbooks as well. Strategies are also made for these types of game as it reminds me of soduku. Sokudu is another puzzle like game that you have to match numbers on each line from one to nine, but heres the catch, it can not match with each other such as horizontally or vertically.
The main goal for this objective is to fill out all nine boxes with numbers both horizontally and vertically without having the same number on both sides. Once you have filled out all of them, you are pretty much set and you have won the game. To make this more complicated or simple ( based on your choice of whom you may believe) it is a set game that has nine boxes each containing a few given numbers to start you off as well as numerous other boxes. So think of it this way. Nine times nine is eighty one boxes. Lets say they give you five specific numbers on specific boxes to start you off.
You then have to use those numbers given based, to try and start off and fill in the other small tiny boxes. In this scenario, you will have around seventy seven boxes left to fill out based on the few given numbers. None the less Ruzzle is like soduku, except the fact that the numbers are replaced with letters that you have to form into words from any kind of language. But heres another advantage you get. It is nine boxes of letters in total, so in conclusion there will be nine letters you are able to do to form words. Do not let that fool you. In all languages with English letters or they are also called british alphabet you have the choice of making words in a variety of choices. You control however many words and you can also show how much you know based on knowledge.
Do not underestimate this game as for these games are also good for elderly. Which is why I have no putted the rating for originality as high as artwork or music, but I still like the idea that they have made this based type of games for people to play especially if its free. Create long words and collect points and bonuses to win. Nice audio and animations make it even more fun and addicting to play. Games are played in three rounds, each one when it suits you. I’m not sure about you but I assure you this can be very addicting at times which is why I like this game myself. In conclusion this is why I would give ruzzle a general total of a rating of 6/10
General Gameplay
For general gameplay I give it a total of a rating of 8/10. I find this game very interesting due to the fact that it isn’t very action genre like based. Ive spent a few hours playing this and I assure you, that your knowledge is needed in this game. From the general gameplays of fourteen different languages to your brain you have to create words in under two minutes. Your determination or known as courage/ motivation Is one of the requirements you need in other to be positive in this game. For example if you challenge random strangers you are not sure how many different languages and words they know which makes it very difficult.
You are stressed under two minutes and as you try to create more words you fear as If the opponent knows and made more words than you already. As the anxiety increases you have to keep in mind of the time track/ count you have remaining. I like these types of game because it causes your mind to create and think deeper or known as critic. You have to use your brain if you want to win. And most people now are pretty competitive so you have to keep in mind that you should play consistently. With the people who are competitive now there are a lot of addictions added towards this game.
This game is a fast paste game which requires your brain and thinking in multiple levels to beat your challengers or opponents. In conclusion this is why I would give the phone app game ruzzle which is compatible with iPhone’s I pad iPod and tablets as well as androids a total rating of 8/10 based on general gameplay.
Addictiveness
I would give addictiveness a total rating of 8/10 based on the fact that there are a lot of reasons t supports my rating. One reason s that now that we have so much people who own phones that are able to download apps, there is a higher chance for people to notice this game. I myself found this game and have played this game numerous time, as when I am competing what occurs is that I find myself playing more and more as the game gets more intense due to the fact that that clock is ticking back and forth resulting to hint to you that there are only a few more seconds left until time runs out.
Once the time runs out there is a point where you are relieved that it is over but you also fear that the other opponent may have beat you. Do not let that deceive you as the game gets more addicting and addicting. Keep playing and you will find multiple ways of enjoyment to your choice. You can choose to play this game based on a relaxing mode, or you can be competitive all the time and just play to win for this game. Finally there are a lot of other reasons such as it is a free to play game. In conclusion this is why I gave addictiveness for this game, called ruzzle which is compatible with iPhone’s Ipad a total rating of 8/10.
Overall rating
In overall rating I really like this game based on the fact that this is not only a puzzle game, but because it is a fast face competition game.
