If you are an old-school gamer and you enjoyed playing classic first person shooter games such as Quake and Unreal Tournament, then Crusherspace is just the game for you! Dive into space arenas, where your goal is to move, jump and fly around, avoiding enemy fire, while at the same time trying to kill as many random players around the world as you possibly can.
Crusherspace has been developed and successfully released by game publisher A10.com, who are well known for publishing many other flash games over the past years, some of which became very popular. Crusherspace has been played thousands and thousands of times in 2016, by players all over the world. At this very moment, it doesn’t seem like Crusherspace is very popular anymore, especially because there are only a dozen of online players at any given time.
Before you are able to play Crusherspace, you first need to download and install Unity Player, which is basically the engine that allows you to play the game. The reason why you need to download Unity Player is because Crusherspace is made by using Unity. Installing Unity Player is very easy; all you have to do is download the program, install it, refresh the page and allow Crusherspace to load up. Once the game has loaded up, you will be able to start the game.

The goal in Crusherspace is to spawn into the map, pick up one of the few deadly weapons and start shooting at your opponents. The player that has made the most kills during a certain period of time is declared the winner. By killing your opponents, or winning a whole match for that matter, you do not receive any in-game currencies or items, because there are none. For each kill that you make, you receive a point, and the player with the most points is the winner.
This basically summarizes the gameplay in Crusherspace; however, there is more to the game than what I wrote above. In Crusherspace, players spawn into one of the three available maps, after which you need to walk around and find better weapons.
You first weapon is a simple handgun, that doesn’t do much damage. Other weapons that are available on the map are assault rifles, bazookas, laser rifles and grenades. Once picked up, you can switch between your weapons by using your mouse wheel.
Weapons that you pick up do have a limited amount of ammunition, which means that you need to concentrate better, in order to be able to take proper aim at your opponents. You kill an opponent when you depleted his or her health points completely, which is set at one hundred. Naturally, your character dies when he loses all of his health points as well.
In Crusherspace, you can either join a server created by another player, or you can create your own public or private server. If you decide to create a private server, only people that know your character’s identification number will be able to join your server, which means that you could technically play the game with / against your real life friends. If you rather play against other players, you can simply click on the Quick Match button and join a random server.
You are able to customize your character in Crusherspace. There are two different skins available; one male and one female. Besides choosing the sex of your character, you can also change the color of his or her armor, by selecting one of the available colors. After you have customized your character to your likings, you can save your preferences so that other people will see your character, just as you have customized him or her.
Crusherspace In-game store
Crusherspace doesn’t have any in-game currencies, which also means that there is no in-game store where you can purchase any items, weapons, boosters or power-ups. I would have expected a game such as Crusherspace to have an in-game store, especially because such games usually allow you to purchase new characters, and upgrade the characters that you have already unlocked and purchased, using the in-game currencies that you have earned. Unfortunately, you cannot do any of these things in Crusherspace, which would have made the game better.
There are not a lot of websites on the internet that are offering cheat tools, hack tools or other kinds of tools for Crusherspace, simply because of the fact that the game does not have in-game currencies or an in-game store. If Crusherspace did have in-game currencies and an in-game store, where you could spend those currencies, you would definitely find dozens and dozens of those so called cheat tool websites, trying to exploit people and earn money off of them.
The reason I state that those so called cheat tool websites are trying to exploit people, is because the only reason that those websites exits, is to make money off of unknowing people. The owners of those websites lure people in by promising that they will be able to use cheats in their favorite mobile and browser games, and all they need to do is fill in a survey. Every time a survey gets filled in, the owners of those so called cheat tool websites earn a lot of money.
After you have filled in a survey and downloaded the so called cheat tool, you will quickly find out that you have been duped, and that the files you have just downloaded are nothing but empty text documents and images. It could be worse though, because you could have also downloaded nasty viruses and keyloggers. Instead of wasting your time trying to find working cheats for this game, I will give you some tips and tricks that will help you with your gameplay.
Crusherspace Gameplay Tips and Tricks
Just like all other first-person shooter games, it is very important that you use strategy, instead of rushing in and trying to kill your opponents. Crusherspace is a very fast-paced shooter game, where your opponents are able to one-shot you using bazookas, laser rifles and grenades, which is why it is important that you often take cover behind walls and obstacles.
When you first spawn into a map, you will have nothing but your pistol, which isn’t really effective. The first thing that you should do is walk around and find yourself a decent weapon, such as an assault rifle, bazooka or laser rifle. Once you have picked up a better weapon, you can go ahead and walk or jump cover to cover. Some opponents will be able to take the jetpack before you, so it is important that you take cover and take those opponents down first.
If you are in trouble, it isn’t a bad idea to simply run away and use platforms to jump to another side of the map. People always tend to think that you have to stand your ground and face your opponents without actually moving around, which is a wrong way to think while playing a first-person shooter game. Once you get yourself to safety, you can aim at your opponents again and take them down one by one. If the server is crowded, you should definitely have a bazooka or several grenades handy, which you can use to take down multiple opponents at once.
You will take a lot of damage while you are playing Crusherspace, which is why you should always pay attention to your health bar located at the bottom right of your screen. If you are running low on health points, you can walk/jump around and grab some of those yellow crosses that are scattered all over the map. These will refill some of your health points.
Before I started playing Crusherspace, I had no idea what the game would be about. I had never heard about it or saw any screenshots or videos of its gameplay. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the gameplay is very similar to the Quake and Unreal Tournament games, which were really popular in the 90s and early 2000s. I used to be a big fan of those games, which made Crusherspace very interesting for me. I really like the fact that there are several different maps and weapons in Crusherspace, making the gameplay pretty entertaining.
A positive aspect about Crusherspace is that the developers did not implement any kind of advertisements into the game. Normally, it is understandable when free-to-play mobile and browser games have advertisements implemented in them, due to the fact that the developers are trying to earn some money for the time and effort they have put into the game itself. However, a lot of developers go overboard when it comes to advertisements, making their games feel like cheap cash grabs. Luckily, this is not the fact in Crusherspace.
Even though I enjoyed playing Crusherspace, the game also has several very negative aspects. For starters, it seems like the developers of Crusherspace have completely abandoned the game after launching it. Crusherspace is a game that has been developed using the Unity Engine, which means that it should definitely not be too difficult to regularly update the game. I say this because the Unity Engine is one of the most powerful and easy-to-learn engines, when it comes to developing browser or mobile games. At this very moment, there are only a handful of online players in Crusherspace, because of the fact that the game lacks content and basic options.
For example, you can either join a server that has been created by other players, or you can create your own custom server and allow other players to join. However, the problem with creating your own custom server is that you do not even get to change the options, or even choose the map you want to play in. This is very annoying, especially if you favor one map over the other. I believe that this “problem” could have easily been fixed by the developers.
I also dislike the fact that the developers have only implemented two different characters into the game; one male cyborg-looking character and one female. You are able to choose which character you want to play as, and change the color of their armor, but that’s about it. I could not even find a way to change my own in-game name, which is pretty annoying.
Another very negative aspect about Crusherspace is the fact that it is very difficult to launch the game without receiving errors. I received at least twenty connection error messages, telling me to try to reconnect at a later time. I tried playing Crusherspace at multiple different computers, and I kept getting the same error messages. At some point, the amount of error messages started going down, allowing me to finally connect to the game and start playing it.
On top of these negative aspects, there are a couple more things that could have easily been fixed by the developers in 2016, which would definitely have made Crusherspace a more entertaining game to play. As mentioned above, it is unfortunate that the developers abandoned this game.
Crusherspace Ratings
Artwork: I give Crusherspace a 6/10 for its artwork. I am well aware of the fact that I should not expect high-end graphics from a browser game; however, the graphics and animations in this game are simply very low in quality. Crusherspace has been developed using Unity, and I have seen and played dozens of games that were also made using Unity, which did have way better graphics, animations and special effects. This tells me that the developers behind Crusherspace simply wanted to release their game as soon as possible, without really thinking or spending too much time on all of the different level designs, environments, I believe that Crusherspace has a lot of potential, and even though the game is playable at the moment, it could be way better.
Music & SFX: I give Crusherspace a 6/10 for its music and SFX. There is only one soundtrack and several different sound effects in Crusherspace, all of which are of mediocre quality, just like the graphics and animations of the game. The soundtrack in Crusherspace plays at the main menu of the game, but is rather low in volume and barely hearable. The sound effects in Crusherspace range from menu button SFX to different kinds of gunfire SFX; however, I was hoping that they would be higher in quality. It feels like the developers simply plugged in several sound effects from different games into Crusherspace, and hoped that the players would not hear it.
Story & Originality: I give Crusherspace a 7/10 for its story and originality. I can’t really say that Crusherspace is a very original game, especially because it has a lot of similarities with games such as Quake and Unreal Tournament; however, I never played a browser game in my life that had similarities to those games. This tells me that the developers have done some research, and found out that there are a lot of people who are interested in first-person space shooters. There is no story behind the game, but a FPS game like Crusherspace doesn’t need one anyways.
General Gameplay: I give Crusherspace a 6/10 for general gameplay. It was pretty difficult to get connected to Crusherspace, even after downloading and installing Unity Player. Because this could have something to do with my internet connection, I will not bash the developers for it. Unfortunately, the gameplay does not start with a tutorial, which means that you will have to find out for yourself how to connect and play the game. This is bad news for casual gamers, who will be really confused on how to even connect to a server and start playing the game. Luckily, the controls are pretty smooth, though I wished I could change the sensitivity. The user interface is mediocre, but you will get used to it, allowing you to easily navigate in the game.
Addictiveness: I give Crusherspace a 6/10 for addictiveness. Even though Crusherspace is a pretty entertaining game to play at times, I can’t really give it a higher rating than a six out of ten, due to the fact that there are barely any players in the game anymore. I also dislike the fact that it is pretty difficult to even connect to the game and start playing it. In order for the addictiveness of Crusherspace to increase, there needs to be a whole lot more players in the game, and the developers definitely need to update the game and add new content. As far as I am concerned, I do not really see that happening, which is a shame. With new content and other improvements, Crusherspace could definitely become a very popular browser game.
All things considered, I give Crusherspace a 6/10.
