You start of your gameplay in Frontline Commando 2 with a nicely build tutorial which teaches you the basics of the game such as movement and firing but you also get told the story behind the game. While the story is not important, it is nice to know what you are and what your mission is. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the amazing graphics in this game. For a mobile game, it pushes the limit and you can tell because my smartphone got pretty hot after playing for about an hour. The dynamic environment is also very pleasing to me. I like shooting objects in a game and see them break or even better, to see them explode. After you finish the tutorial you will get forwarded to the main menu where you can buy new weapons and assign new squad members. The amount of options in this game is huge and it shows that the developers spend much time and thought in Frontline Commando 2.

While the added PVP mode in Frontline Commando 2 is a very nice add-on to a free-to-play game, it is unfortunate that you use up your energy every time you play this mode. In my opinion, the PVP mode is way more exciting that the single player mode because you play against real players to see who has the better mercenary squad. Your energy bar does replenish with time, but it takes a while and if you do not have the patience, you need to spend gold coins to replenish it which costs real money. I have nothing against free-to-play games that have an in-game store where you can buy things using real money, but it can get very costly. It would have been nice if the prices would have been a bit lower.

Another negative aspect about Frontline Commando 2 is that it is very hard to grind for cash to buy high tier weaponry and upgrade them. The basic weapons are easy to get and upgrade but in late-game you need to grind a lot in order to be able to buy those powerful weapons. This kind of forces you to buy gold coins with real money in order to be able to progress through the game. If you have the patience, you could of course keep grinding. There are missions called “Elite Missions” which are very difficult to clear, almost impossible, but if you do manage to clear them you will be rewarded greatly.

On a last note, I would like to add that I have not come across any advertisements in Frontline Commando 2. While this could be due to my connection being poor, I still liked the fact that I did not get bothered by advertisement while I played the game itself.

Artwork: I give Frontline Commando 2 a 9/10 for its artwork. The graphics in this game are absolutely beautiful for a mobile game. The attention to detail is also remarkable. The fact that the environment is dynamic is such a nice touch for a game such as Frontline Commando 2. I like the fact that you can break things in-game such as the concrete roadblocks and you can blow up cars and trucks. The use of lightning and slow-motion effects is when you kill your last enemy also adds a very nice touch to the game.

Music & SFX: I give Frontline Commando 2 an 8/10 for its music and SFX. The soundtracks used in Frontline Commando 2 really add a much desired thrilling effect to the game. While you are playing the game, you hear the soundtrack but it does not overwhelm the sound effects such as gunfire and explosions which is always a good thing. The SFX in Frontline Commando 2 are of high quality and are easy on the ears.

Story & Originality: I give Frontline Commando 2 a 7/10 for its story and originality. The story behind this game keeps building up, starting from the tutorial. I for once really enjoyed the added dialogue to Frontline Commando 2 because it made the game more original compared to the look-a-like games. Unfortunately while the story is nice, the game does lack originality. I can think of a couple of other games out of the top of my head that have the same game mechanics, just different graphics and story.

General Gameplay: I give Frontline Commando 2 a 9/10 for general gameplay. The game starts with a nice tutorial which explains the basics of the game, and once you finish the tutorial, you can start playing the through the levels and finish campaigns. The build-up of the gameplay is nice and straight forward. You need to fight through a few levels and after that you get to the boss stage where you have to eliminate the boss himself. Another great aspect you do not see very often in mobile games is PvP shooters. You can actually randomly connect with other players who are at your level, and start a shootout. Whoever wins, gets the rewards. I loved this about Frontline Commando 2

Addictiveness: I give Frontline Commando 2 a 7/10 for addictiveness. While you get limited by your energy bar in this game, it is still possible to get hours of enjoyment out of it. The reason while this energy bar does not bother you that much is because it only counts for PvP matches. While playing single player campaign, you do not lose any energy. There are a lot of options and gears to explore in Frontline Commando 2 which makes it addictive and makes you come back for more. When your energy bar is empty, you can just take a break and wait for it to replenish, or you can replenish it by spending in-game gold coins, which you can buy in the in-game store. Whatever way you put it, this game is great and very addictive.

All things considered, I give Frontline Commando 2 an 8/10.
