Fish Out of Water! Cheats & Hack for Crystals & All Items

Imagine a sunny summer day, you and your fish friends are hanging around at the beach, swimming in shallow waters, when all of a sudden one of you gets a great idea. You guys hold a competition to see which one of you can jump through the water the highest and furthers, making amazing skipping moves. One fish says to the other fish, but who is going to judge which one of us was the best? A group of crabs all of a sudden show up because they were eavesdropping on the group of fish friends, and they say, they will be the judges. This little story is actually a mobile game called Fish Out Of Water! And let me tell you, it is amazing! Game developer Halfbrick Studios successfully released this game and the numbers show it, downloaded over one million times with a rating of 4.2 out of 5 on Google Play Store and a 4.5 star rating on iOS App Store.

The goal of Fish Out Of Water! Is the get the best possible ratings from a group of five crabs by using a variety of fish characters to fly and skip over the surface of the ocean. You have six playable fish characters but a total of three throws to get the highest possible rating, so you will have to judge by yourself what is the best combination of characters to achieve a high rating. Some of these characters are better at skipping while others are better at flying and covering a bigger distance.

The six characters you can play as are Finlay, Errol, Brothers, Rocket, Micro and Olympus. Finlay is a natural at leaping and diving, because he is a dolphin. The best way to use him is to throw him in a straight line, because if he goes too high, he will hit the sea floor once he goes in the ocean. Errol is pufferfish who will blow himself up once you throw him. This assures that he will be the bounciest of all of your characters. There is Micro who is a whale (of course whales are not fish but mammals, yet I have called them all a group of fish to make it easier).

Micro has the ability to have more air time if you throw him up in the air and he also bounces off the water more naturally. Rocket is a little red fish, shaped as an arrow/rocket which is spectacular at skipping and he is fast! Do not throw him up too high though, or else he will sink pretty fast. Same goes for Brothers. He is a fish that splits up into four fish brothers identical to each other when he skips for the first time. The last character you can throw is Olympus. He is the all-around fish, good stats in every area be it air or water surface.

At the end of every three throws, you will be judged by a group of crabs. These crabs all have a different motivation in judging you. Nice Natalie is the best one out of the bunch because she always seems to be happy and gives high ratings no matter what. Harwood is the one that is the most critical of them all. It is very hard to please him but if you did a good job, he will rate you with a high score. Then there is Reasonable Re that looks for the amount of skips, the distance you covered and the weather conditions that you played in and Distance Dorothy who rates your fish based on the distance they covered. Last but not least, Skippy Steve judges you by the amount of time your fish have skipped and the weather condition you played in.

Weather conditions can change over time, which can either negatively or positively influence you. Some crabs give you a higher score when the weather is bad, but it will be harder for your fish friends to skip a lot when it is raining and windy. The weather changes every hour of gameplay.

At the end of your throws and after you have been rated by the crabs, a little oyster at the bottom right of your screen will show up, who either gives useful in-game information about you and your fish friends or he gives Wikipedia-like information about sea animals.

There are achievements in the game, which you need to complete during your throws. Completing achievements will give you experience points and eventually you will level up. There is also a way to play against your friends and other players around the world in so called Leagues. You do this by signing in with your Facebook or Google+ account.

Fish Out Of Water! Cheats & Tips

There are websites out there that claim they have a working hack or mod for Fish Out Of Water! These hacks and mods allegedly give you unlimited crystals and booster meter will never deplete. Most of these websites are easily findable when you search them on Google. Let me tell you from firsthand experience that these so called hack and mods do not work. Before you can even download them, you will need to fill in a survey which generates an income for the download websites. After you have filled in the survey and downloaded the files, you will see that you have been duped because you either downloaded a fake program or worse, you downloaded a virus. Instead of looking for cheats, I will give you some tips and tricks you can use to have an advantage in Fish Out Of Water!

Fish Out Of Water! Gameplay Tips

There is a crafting system implemented in this game where you can combine tail and body crystals with each other to craft boosters. These boosters can greatly help you with your gameplay and almost assure you of a high rating. There are Blue, Orange, Purple, Red, Crimson and Navy crystals which you can collect in this game and combine to make the following items:

– Combine Blue body + Blue tail for the Blue Charm = Adds twenty skips to your next throw
– Combine Navy Body + Navy Tail for the Navy Charm = Adds thirty skips to your next throw.
– Combine Orange body + Orange tail for the Orange Charm = Harwood will give you a perfect 10 on your next throw.
– Combine Purple body + Purple tail for the Purple Charm = Adds 50 meters and 15 skips to your next throw
– Combine Red Body + Red Tail for the Red Charm = Adds 75 meters to your next throw.
– Combine Crimson Body + Crimson Tail for the Crimson Charm = Adds one 100 meters to your next throw

Next to using charms to boost your score, you also have a boost meter. All three fish you select during your play, will use the same boost meter so use it sparsely and don’t use it all on the first fish you throw. The boost meter is located in the center top of your screen and the best moment to use it is when your fish lands on the surface of the water. If you still have something left in your boost meter, you should use it on your final throw to assure your fish gets as far as possible. There are yellow orbs in the air and if you manage to collect them, they will fill your boost meter up a little bit.

Fish Out Of Water! Review

Before I started playing Fish Out Of Water! I had no idea what the game was even about. I did not care to read anything on the internet or on the app stores about it, so I just downloaded it and went with it. First I thought it was another one of those “take care of your fish in your personal aquarium” type of games but I was pleasantly surprised when I first started playing it. There is a nice tutorial at the beginning of your gameplay which teaches you the basics without spoiling too much. After you learn the basics of the game, it becomes very straightforward but never boring because you can keep yourself challenged with all the objectives you need to complete. You can even play against your friends and other players if you desire to do so. The first thing that really surprised me was the quality of the artwork and sound effects in Fish Out Of Water! The ocean is beautiful, the sun is shining, the water sounds when your fish splash on it, it is all just very amazing.

The game itself can suck you right in because of the fact that there are no time limits, lives or energy bars which will prevent you from playing continuously. I think this is one of the most positive aspects about free-to-play games such as Fish Out Of Water! Because you do not get turned off by the game because you have to wait.

Another very positive aspect about this game is that there are absolutely no in-game ads. I was connected to the internet the whole time I played Fish Out Of Water! And I did not face any advertisements. I would understand if there were ads, as long as they are not obstructive to the gameplay but having no ads at all is of course way better.

There are not many negative things about Fish Out Of Water! In fact the only two things I can think of are the occasional pop-up that comes up and asks you if you want to try other games by developer Halfbrick Studios and the second one being that the crystal are very hard to obtain in late-game. Both of these negative aspects will not bother you that much and the positive trumps the negative in this game.

Our Fish Out Of Water! Ratings

Artwork: I give Fish Out Of Water! a 9/10 for its artwork. It is amazing to see how much detail the developers put into this game. Everything from the beach and ocean to the characters and surroundings is very well drawn and animated. What was absolutely brilliant for me was the fact that the environment was changing while you are playing Fish Out Of Water! There are day and night cycles but also weather conditions which are implemented so nicely, it actually feels like you are struggling when you see the rain drops coming in. Then there are the small animations such as skipping over the water surface, diving in the water, collecting booster coins and also the detail on the face of your characters when they are having a hard time going further, it all fits very well together.

Music & SFX: I give Fish Out Of Water! an 8/10 for its music and SFX. This game has a lot of sound effects for every little movement you make with your fish characters. The SFX when it is raining, when you skip over the water or when you dive are pretty amazing since it sounds like the real thing. There is also a great soundtrack in the background, sounds like a Caribbean theme to me but it fits the game itself very well. The soundtracks and sound effects are implemented very nicely and you do not get disturbed by either of them.

Story & Originality: I give Fish Out Of Water! an 8/10 for its story and originality. While there are most likely many throwing and skipping casual games such as Fish Out Of Water! Out there on the app stores, I will still give a high rating for story and originality. You can tell that the developers spend much time on this game, simply because it plays so well. There is also a little backstory you get to hear about in the tutorial, this just adds to the originality itself.

General Gameplay: I give Fish Out Of Water! a 9/10 for general gameplay. It is nice that this game starts off with a tutorial that helps you with the basics, so you won’t be confused in what to do. The gameplay itself becomes straightforward after the tutorial but things stay exciting because you will have goals to complete and the challenge of getting the highest score possible is always there. The game plays very nicely without any lags whatsoever, the controls are easy and you simply need to find the best possible throwing technique for the different characters that you have.

Addictiveness: I give Fish Out Of Water! A 9/10 for addictiveness. While it seems like this game is just another time killer, I can assure you that it is more than that. I found myself sucked in this game for an hour straight before I realized that time had passed by so fast. The fact that you can play against your friends or compete against random players across the world in Leagues also adds a lot to the addictiveness. You also do not get limited by lives or energy bars so you can just start the game and keep playing however long you want.

All things considered, I give Fish Out Of Water! a 9/10.
