But what kind of disasters are there, anyway? Well, there are five types of disasters, each with different mechanics behind them. Let’s take the Earthquake for instance: once you target it on a solid ground, it will shake it for a few seconds, breaking glass and a few beams on top of it, which might be shielding the eggs. Then there is the Wind, which will blow any unprotected object and eggs towards either the left or right side of the screen, for a few seconds.

The Landslide is the third disaster, which will let you take a part of a solid ground and make it disappear, lowering the stability of buildings or dropping eggs who were on that part of the ground. Then there is the Bee Swarm, which causes bees to attack the target egg chosen by you, then they will follow from one egg to another, until the duration is over. The last disaster is a bit more direct, as it launches a fiery Thunderball from the sky onto the location targeted by you, destroying anything it touches.

Using these tools, Disaster Will Strike provides 25 levels worth of challenges, where you have to destroy all the eggs to progress. Eggs might be hidden behind beams, or blocked by ground, walls or glass panels to make your job harder, requiring you to use your available disasters in the correct order on each level, otherwise a few eggs might survive! Be careful though, as you can’t use two disasters at the same time, so timing is very important!

Levels are scored as well, and the longer you take to complete a level, the lower your score will be. This is because your score immediately counts down from 1000 when you step into a level, therefore acting fast can yield the best scores. Once you manage to complete each level almost perfectly, you can even submit your score to the global leaderboards, where you might even get into the top 50 of the week, or all time!

Cheats & Tips for Disaster Will Strike

Disaster Will Strike is a fairly challenging puzzle game, although not the toughest on the market. Still, you might find yourself stuck on a few of last five, most difficult levels. For this reason, let me share a few cheats, tips and tricks with you, to make the most out of your game and avoid any unnecessary timewaste!

The first of the cheats you might want to utilize in Disaster Will Strike is definitely the option to retry each level until you can complete them in the best possible way. There is no legal way to get the perfect scores though, as when you enter a level, your score will immediately start counting down, therefore making it impossible to get 25,000 points without any serious cheats. If you want to get into the top 10 of the leaderboards though, then finishing levels as fast as possible is your best bet. Once you got the hang of the order of each disaster to use in a level, you will want to hurry up and do it as fast as humanly possible. This will make sure you get the highest score possible.

If you wish to just simply finish the game from beginning to end, without care for the scores, that’s fine too. In this case, if you were to get stuck on any level, remember that you can play the next few levels at any time, by skipping your current one. If a level just annoys you with its almost impossible solution, then just leave it behind and move onto the next one! After all, having fun is more important than becoming frustrated by a game!

Disaster Will Strike Review

Disaster Will Strike is a fairly short game, but a charming one at that. Its visuals might seem familiar to you, maybe remind you of a few other popular 2016 games, but the gameplay is distinct enough that you can easily get lost in its levels!

Unlike in the series’ later installments, Disaster Will Strike didn’t even try to put together a story, or told me any reasons for why I should destroy these dino eggs, but that’s not really an issue in such a short game. I just did what I had to, no questions asked.

It took me around 20 to 30 minutes to complete this game, and most of the levels seemed to be fairly straightforward. I got a few disasters on each level, with which I was tasked to destroy the eggs, who were all showing off their teeth and evil smiles at me. I must say it’s pretty effective at making you motivated to their destruction!

As I mentioned, most levels were easy to complete on a first try, usually, except for the last five levels. These last five peaked my interest the most, as they were more true to the puzzle experience than the earlier ones. I was somewhat disappointed with the first 20 levels, as I really expected more challenge from them. Thankfull level 21 told me what’s up, as I got stuck on that for the longest time. Even after I finally finished all other levels, level 21 was there, taunting me that I can’t complete the game without it!

In the end, I got all levels done and even ranked 49th on the leaderboards, without really trying. If someone takes Disaster Will Strike more seriously, they can even get a score worthy of top 20 or 10, that’s for sure. If you liked what you read, then go on and play the game, it’s a great casual distraction for half a hour!

Artwork: I give the artwork of Disaster Will Strike a 7/10. The visuals of this game could easily get mistaken with a few other popular games, such as Angry Birds. The colorful, bright visuals and the cartoonish outlines, along with the glass and beam props just make this familiar feeling stronger. Probably the only real downside is that there are only two types of eggs in the game, and a lot of levels also look really similar.

Music & SFX: The music and the SFX of the game deserves an 7/10. The energizing, happy music in the menus makes you feel ready for a fast paced, yet casual game, but then the in-level calm, sneaky songs slow this down, and instead force you to think twice about your actions, really carrying the game along. The SFX can be a little annoying at times though, especially as eggs can “laugh” and crack a little too loudly compared to the music volume.

Story & Originality: The originality of Disaster Will Strike gets a 7/10. I can’t rate the story of the game, sadly, as there is none. As for originality, the whole gameplay mechanic of destroying the eggs, who are hidden behind beams and glass panels is not really unique or new, but the presentation wins it a few extra points.

General Gameplay: The general gameplay gets an 8/10 from me. While the game mechanics are solid and the gameplay is a lot of fun to play, the difficulty is a little lower than what I would call ideal. 90% of the levels are a bit too easy in my opinion, while the last five do a big jump in difficulty. If all the levels were around the same as the last few, the game would certainly last a bit longer to finish.

Addictiveness: As for its addictiveness, I give the game an 8/10 as well. Completing the 25 levels might not take long, but you won’t really want to do much else, while you play. The gameplay mechanics are addicting and can easily make you wish for a few more levels, but sadly there aren’t more in this release. Thankfully, numerous sequels to the game exist, and you can play them right now as well!

Overall Score: 7/10.
