All of this is topped up with a large map, which encompasses the entire of the USA. Of course, it has not been scaled 1:1, but anyways, getting to the other side of the country takes as long as 40 minutes! The developers have reproduced 13 big cities in the game. In the cities, you can find the most recognizable of places in the real life cities, which provides you with the opportunity to explore. In combination with appealing graphics and attention to details, the game remains interesting, even if you are driving between the individual cities. The developers attached care to developing social functions of the game to ensure that the gamers never race alone, as the slogan goes.

Map

The map in The Crew is big - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe map in The Crew is big

The players have been given a very big map. It presents the scaled-down United States. 13 big cities have been reproduced, as well as some of the recognizable places outside of them. The distance between New York and Los Angeles, at the other end of the map, is 120 kilometers. To cover such distance, you require 40 minutes.

The map has been divided into five regions:

  • Midwest
  • East Coast
  • The South
  • Mountain States
  • West Coast.

The missions n the game need to be completed in a specific order, in accordance with the storyline. However, at any time, you can choose from among several missions. The storyline adjust to the choices that you make. At the very beginning, you receive missions, in the Midwest. However, at any point, you can go anywhere on the map. You are not held by any artificial boundaries. You can both drive over the roads, as well as off-road.

Once you cross an area for the first time, it is counted as the discovered one. Thanks to this, you can fast-travel there, at any moment. To get to the specific area, click it on the map and select "fast-travel". Around the map, there also is public transportation present - airports and depots, thanks to which you can get to various locations, without the necessity to drive there. However, if you prefer to get there on your own, you will find GPS helpful. To specify the destination, click on the selected spot and select "set a marker".

The icons that appear on the map:

The key mission for each region - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The key mission for each region. These are the missions that you receive in the first place, in a given region and during them, you discover the new HQ. This is also the way to display the final mission in a given region. In each of them, you need to complete three sub-missions.

The exclamation mark, next to any icon, means that it has just appeared on the map, e.g. a new missions, a car dealership, or a new tuning parlor.

Completed missions - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Completed missions. Laurel leaves may come as gold, silver or brown, depending on what you won during the mission. There are several types of missions. To learn more, see one of the following subchapters.

Faction missions - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Faction missions. Missions that you do not get, as a result of your progress into the storyline, but they are similar.

PvP waiting room - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

PvP waiting room. This is where you can race against other players.

Exploration - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Exploration. The places on the map that are the reproduced version of the real-life ones. For visiting them in the game, you can receive money and experience.

Airport - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Airport. Thanks to it, you can fast-travel to an undiscovered place on the map.

Train depot - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Train depot. Its function is the same as that of the airport.

Headquarters - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Headquarters. Here, you can view your collection of cars, apply the car parts that you have found or buy new ones. Also, you can spend your points on bonuses here, and view your progress into the storyline, and into car parts collecting.

Dealer - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Dealer. Of course, you can buy a new car here. In the game, there are five car dealerships, one per each region. In every one, there are different cars on sale.

Tuner - Map - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Tuner. This is where you can tune your car. In ones marked with the S letter, you can tune your car for street racing, with D - for off-road racing, P for performance cars and C for racing tuning. The tuner marked with R can tune your car for raids.

Missions

Missions - HUD - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughMissions

Before a mission, important information is displayed. On top, you can see the name, and thanks to the icon, you know what your task in the mission is going to be. If there is an exclamation mark next to the mission icon, this means a new mission, whereas a green frame and laurel leaves represent the ones that you have already completed. It is important to note the difficulty level. It is not predetermined, though, and it is determined, basing on the car that you are driving (1077 on the screenshot) and the recommended level to complete the mission (494 on the screenshot). If your level is lower than recommended, this means that you need to upgrade your car, before you start it. On the right, you can also see the specifications of the car, that you are going to drive. You automatically receive the car with the highest level, of the specified specs. Under the letter that represents technical specs, required level is displayed. Also, you can view what car part you receive and how it affects the level of your car. You can also learn information on the received experience and money.

In-mission HUD

HUD in missions - HUD - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughHUD in missions

The objective of the mission is always displayed in the upper-left corner. Underneath, there is time and the current checkpoint or the distance to the finish line. On the left, you can also see the current ranking in the race along with the specified levels of players and cars. In the bottom-left corner, there is the speedometer, and revolution counter, the current gear, mileage and the nitro boost-boost level. On the right, there is a map with the course specified and the distance to the next checkpoint or the finish line.

Smartphone in The Crew, is available at any moment - Smartphone - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Smartphone in The Crew, is available at any moment. It provides you with several useful functions, which facilitates certain actions in the game. At the bottom of the screen, you can view the current level, time and cash owned. Apart from that, the available options are:

  • Crew list - here, you can find out, how many of your friends are online, as well as view the players list in the current game.
  • Map - you open the big map that has been described in the first chapter of this guide.
  • Radio - this is where you can change the current music track.
  • Mission log - you can learn here about the missions to be completed.
  • Mobile garage - thanks to it, you can swap the current car.
  • Return to HQ - it allows you to return to the headquarters at any moment.
  • Mobile mechanic - you require a special bonus to unlock it. Thanks to this, you can repair your car without visiting the car garage.
  • Mobile tuner - allows you to apply car parts to your car.
  • Settings - accesses game settings.
  • Wiki - a collection of information on the game.
  • Exit - logs you off the session and leaves the game.

The car dealer sells mass-produced cars. These are the basic versions of cars that you cannot tune, before you buy the starter kit from the tuner.

The letters that mark specifications are different for various languages. Below, you can see the ones from the English-language version of the game. They have been arranged in the same order.

1 - Car specifications - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Street cars

BMW Z4 sDrive35is 2011 - Car specifications - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughBMW Z4 sDrive35is 2011

The tuner for street cars is in Chicago and you unlock him at the beginning of the game.

Street cars are not much different from mass-produced ones. They are designed to ride over hard tracks, but they can also be used on dirt tracks, if necessary. The suspension in these cars is not too hard, thanks to which it is easy to straighten bends with them, even if there is an obstacle of, e.g. a curb or a patch of greenery.

Off-road cars

Ford Focus RS 2010 - Car specifications - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFord Focus RS 2010

The dirt-car Tuner is in New York and you unlock him after you progress to level 10.

The name "dirt cars" may be deceiving, because they are more fitted for driving over metalled roads and snow. This is where they do best. Also, they do well on roads. Thanks to their suspension, you can easily perform jumps and straighten bends.. Such cars are perfect, if you do not know what roads you will be driving on.

Performance cars

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) - Car specifications - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughNissan Skyline GT-R (R34)

The performance cars Tuner is in Miami and you unlock him after you progress to level 20.

Performance cars are an ideal combination of speed and adjustment to street conditions. They are very fast, but also easy to handle. While driving such cars, you can straighten bends over curbs. While off-road driving, you need to be careful, because it is easy to get off the track.

Circuit cars

Dodge RAM SRT-10 2004 - Car specifications - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughDodge RAM SRT-10 2004

Circuit car Tuner is in Las Vegas and you unlock him after you progress to level 30.

Circuit cars are, firs of all, fit for off-road driving. They perform better on soft surfaces than on the street. These are very durable. They have soft suspension so, you need to be careful while taking jumps, which abound in flatlands and canyons.

Circuit cars

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione - Car specifications - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughAlfa Romeo 8C Competizione

The Tuner for circuit cars is in Los Angeles and you unlock him after you progress to level 40.

Circuit cars are fit only for smooth and hard surfaces. They are incredibly fast and lightweight. It is easy to lose control over them so, you need to use Nitro boost carefully and press accelerate with care, while turning. The durability of those cars is poor and they are completely useless over surfaces different than asphalt ones. While driving such a car, you need to be careful, while running over curbs at high speed. While using the nitro boost, these cars lose their grip of the track, even on a straight road. If you are doing more than 200 km/h, use it in series.

Missions may both be connected with the storyline and with your faction. At the beginning of the game, you will only be doing storyline missions. Both of the mission types are no different from each other, when it comes to the way in which you complete them. For each mission, you receive money, experience and car parts.

In both cases, the objective of the mission and the car specs, are predetermined. In the game, there are 7 mission types:

Race - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Race. In this mode, you simply need to get to the finish line faster than the rest of the competitors and get all of the checkpoints.

Racing through checkpoints - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Racing through checkpoints. In this mode, you race alone and your time is taken. Reach the next checkpoint to add several seconds to the counter.

From A to B - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

From A to B. This mode is very similar to the previous one. The only difference is that here, there only is the start line and the finish line and you need to make it within specified time.

Escape - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Escape. In this mode, you need to escape either from the police, or somebody else's crew on your back. Most of the times, they drive cars and sometimes also choppers. You count as busted after the opponents manage to stop you. There is a star system here, which represents the number of cars that are chasing you. They range between one and five. Your objective is to escape from the sight of all the pursuers. Once you do that, a countdown starts and the number of stars drops, one by one. Dropping one star takes 7 seconds. Although it may seem that the car that you are driving is better, it is the police cars that are actually faster. This is why, there is no point in escaping over a straight line. The methods to lose the police are to take frequent, tight turns, driving in forest or across parking lots. Additionally, in most of the missions, there are key spots, where you can lose the police quickly. They have been presented further in this guide, for all the missions.

Eliminate - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Eliminate. In this mission, you start behind another car that is your target. You need to destroy it, by bumping into it This type of missions can be done in a variety of ways. It is very difficult to get a high score here, the first time around. It is best to remember the opponent's driving, overtake him and bump him head-on, or cut the corners that he does not cut and bump into him for the whole time.

Collect - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Collect. This mode is not as popular as the remaining ones. Here, you need to drive into specific items. Usually, these are crates and you need to collect 80 out of 100 in a given area.

Pursuit - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Pursuit. In this mode, you need to follow the other car, without destroying it.

Skill tests

Tests are time trials that start immediately after you drive over the marker for the test, usually in the middle of the road. There is a time limit to complete each test. You can complete them along your way to the next mission. For tests, you receive money experience and car parts. It is an excellent way to upgrade your car quickly. Apart from that, you will be specified in the global ranking.

There are 8 test types.

Speed test - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Speed test. You need to keep to the track and go at the highest speed possible. You lose points for getting off the track and for collisions. For this test, you require a fast car so, the best ones here are the street, performance and circuit ones.

Slalom test is about swerving around gates at both sides of the road - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Slalom test is about swerving around gates at both sides of the road. Of course, speed and flawlessness are recommended here. You do not need to get off the road in this test so, you can drive a street, performance or circuit car.

Precision test - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Precision test. Here, there are gates in the middle of the road, which you need to cross. They become more and more narrow so, this test requires precision. The gates appear in the middle of the road so, also here, it is best to use street, performance or circuit cars.

Gathering Test in this one, on the road and around it, there are points scattered, which you need to catch to score - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Gathering Test in this one, on the road and around it, there are points scattered, which you need to catch to score. During this test, you go both on and off the road so, off road cars will be best here. Also, you can try street cars here, as well as performance ones, but they may skid on the uneven surfaces.

Car test - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Car test. It is about getting to the points that are hard to get to, usually mountain peaks. Start this test with off-road or racing cars.

Straight line Test in this test, your route is delineated, over a short stretch of the course - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Straight line Test in this test, your route is delineated, over a short stretch of the course. Your task is to keep on the line, with at least one wheel, while driving at the highest speed possible. The line gets smaller and smaller. This test can be played over various surfaces so, take a car that does best on the specific one.

Hill-jump Test - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Hill-jump Test. This one is a great way to obtain new parts. The only thing that you need to do is gain speed and drive onto the ramp. You can easily win gold here, on any car, with the exceptions of racing ones. Just remember to gain speed and start Nitro boost before you get off the ramp, and have it active for as long as possible.

Escape Test - Missions - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Escape Test. It is about getting away from the starting point, as fast as possible. Toy will need the fastest car available to you, here. Therefore, take one with street, performance or circuit specs.

Player level

In The Crew you can reach levels ranging between 1 and 50. Your level is determined, basing on your experience points, which you receive for missions, tests and races. You need to reach a specific level, to be able to complete a given storyline mission. You can go anywhere o the map, regardless of your level, but you need a specific level to do tests, visit a car dealership and a tuning garage. For the Midwest it is level 1, for the West Coast level 10, for The South 20, for Mountain States 30, and for West Coast it is level 40. At the top level - 50 you gain access to faction missions and platinum car parts.

Car level

Car level depends only on the parts that have been installed. You receive them for completing storyline missions and tests. Each car consists of 11 parts. The parts that you receive from a given mission has its level. Depending on how you do on the mission, you can receive brown, silver and gold parts, and after you reach the top level, also platinum ones. Of course, the better you do, the higher the bonus for your car and the higher the level. Additionally, for each part, you receive a bonus. It may be acceleration, top speed, grip or braking.

Money

In The Crew there are 2 currencies. You earn Bucks, by completing missions, tests, races and for your actions (while on the road, you receive small sums of money for overtaking, passing by, at high speed, etc.) They are the counterparts of Dollars, for which it is the informal name. Crew credits are a premium currency that you can buy at the Uplay store. At the beginning of the game, you need to pick your faction. For picking one, you receive 100 000 Cc for free.

For completing an easy storyline mission, you receive between $1000 and $3000. This is not too much, given the fact that buying all of the cars is going to cost you more than $10 mln You earn much more from PvP races, where you can earn around 16-18 thousand for several minutes. Also, faction missions are profitable. For missions of up to 10 minutes, you receive $8000, whereas the ones of 10-60 minutes - $30000, and the ones that last more than an hour, you receive more than $88000$.

An excellent way of making money is visiting landmarks:

These are landmarks and other unique places around the USA - Development and Customization - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

These are landmarks and other unique places around the USA. Around the map, there are 242 of them. For visiting each one, you receive $2000, and it takes little time.

The fastest way of development

As you already know, in the game, there are brown, silver and gold car parts. You receive them, depending on your score in a given mission. You do not need to do much to win the brown medal. This may seem enough. But later on, it may turn out that your car is too slow to complete the next mission, or win the brown medal, at least. Difficulty level of the races are organized in a way that allows the player to obtain silver parts in each. Therefore, if you win gold in a mission, in the next one it is going to be easier for you. The situation is different, if you win brown. This is why, it is a good idea to replay missions or do skill tests. Some of the missions are very hard and nearly impossible with cars at a given level. You need to skip them and return later on, with a much faster car.

Bonuses - Bonuses - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughBonuses

Each person that you enlist, while completing storyline missions, may improve on your car, Smartphone or provide you with a bonus to the money, experience or reputation. You receive bonus points each time that you progress. On the individual bonuses, you can spend 3 to 10 points. Usually, it is on the number of the spent points that it depends how high your bonus is e.g. for one point spent on "daylight robbery" you receive a 3% discount on race cars, and for 10 points, you receive a 30% discount. Bonus points can be reset for $4900. You can also buy more for 2000 Cc. It is quite a lot and it is recommended that you rather spend the money on the car or tuning.

What to choose?

Bonus points are very valuable, because even at the top level, you cannot obtain all of the bonuses. Definitely, it is not too good an idea to take bonuses with discount on parts because you receive car parts for completing missions and tests. At the beginning of the game, it is best to invest in " Make that two" and "Missionary". These bonuses are very useful, but they become nearly useless, after you reach level 50. The players with low experience should invest in "Navigating Help". It is imperative that each player invests a point in the mobile mechanic. Apart from those cases, the best perks are: "Afterburner", "Good Brakes", "Hand in Glove", "Gear Shift", "Speed" and "Fire away". They affect driving directly.

Mobile mechanic - Damage and repairs - Basic information - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughMobile mechanic

Damage that you do to the car affects not only its looks, but also its performance. The latter start dropping after the car is severely damaged. With time, visual damage is repaired automatically. As for the mechanical ones, you need to repair them at the HQ, in the tuning garage or with the Smartphone. To be able to repair your car, using the Smartphone, you need to spend one point on the "Mobile Mechanic" perk.

Starting kits

The cars that you buy at the dealerships are mass-produced versions. To participate in any races, you need to buy a starting kit. They can have one of the five specifications: street, off-road, performance, racing or circuit. Apart from that, each starting kit has a certain level. It may be level 10, 20, 30 or 40. The individual levels of the starting kits unlock as you progress in yours. Level 40 means that all of the brown car parts of level 40 are installed. Later, you can upgrade parts in your car, by completing storyline missions and skill tests. The level of a given part depends on the mission level, and the bonus depends on the score. You do not need to pay for the parts that you won, on a given car, but if you won them on one specific car, and you want them installed on another one, you need to pay for that. Of course, this only goes for one part of certain specs, i.e. you cannot install racing parts on a circuit car.

Individual parts

Exhaust system increases acceleration and top speed.

Injection differential provides a bonus to acceleration and raises top speed.

Injection increases top speed and provides a bonus to acceleration.

Cycle part provides a bonus to acceleration and considerably increases top speed.

Transmission provides a high bonus to top speed and acceleration.

Rotor improves on acceleration and considerably raises top speed.

Tires provides a bonus to grip, and a high bonus to braking and acceleration.

Brakes provide a high bonus to braking.

Suspension improves on grip, as well as braking and acceleration.

Differential provides a bonus to grip, acceleration and braking.

Weight reduction provides a high bonus to acceleration and braking and slightly decreases the bonus to grip.

You can receive the most bonus from: transmission, rotor, weight reduction, tires and differential so, these are the ones that you should do first, while upgrading the car.

Faction missions

Faction missions are no different than storyline missions, as far as the way to complete goes. You can play them only after you reach level 50. You always use your own car there, but the level of difficulty is much higher. The level of the opponents is scaled, basing on the level of the car that you are using. In those missions however, you win much more money. It is $8000 per missions shorter than 10 minutes, $30000 for missions of 10-60 minutes and $80000 for missions longer than an hour. Most usually, these are races and time trials. It is unprofitable to do the missions longer than an hour, because they may be as long as 4 hours! You make more money by completing missions for $8000 or $30000.

Races PvP

PvP Races are, of course, competitions against the other players. You can choose "Everyone against everyone" and "Faction against faction". The former can be participated by 2-8 players. Each one fights for themselves. Faction races need to be participated by 8 players. In itself, a race looks the same and only points of the players from each faction are added up and it is the victory of the faction, what counts. Races are direct, there are no time trials. Individual game takes between, around 1 minute and 30 seconds to 10 minutes. Waiting rooms are in each of the regions. In each region, there is a separate map list. For the races players receive points. It is 10 pt. for the 1st position, 8 pt. for the 2nd, 6 pt. for 3rd and so on, a point less for each consecutive position. The points reset after you leave the waiting room. The player with the highest score selects the next track. Also, he decides if collisions and traffic are to be active or deactivated. For the races, you receive between $16000 and $19000. This is why, it is the best way of making Bucks.

After you reach level 50, you can install platinum parts on cars. They are even better than the gold ones. To win them, you need to complete any mission or skill test with very high score. The level of the Platinum parts may be between 40 and 50. They are completely random and it does not depend on the score. A car made up of platinum parts of level 50 has the rank of 1299. Additionally, each part receives a bonus to acceleration, top speed, grip or braking.

The easiest and fastest way to upgrade your car is to complete skill tests, i.e. jumps.

Exhaust: Jump 19, East Coast

Hints: Drive onto the elevation behind you. Gain speed and use nitro boost, right before the test gate.

Injection differential: Jump 24, East Coast

Hints: Use nitro boost at the moment at which you cross the test gate.

Injection: Jump 29, The South

Hints: Reverse to get enough room to gain speed. Use nitro boost right before the test gate and steer slightly to the left to fall into the water, next to the pier.

Cycle part: Jump 9 or Jump 12, Midwest

Hints: Use nitro boost, when you are on the ramp.

Transmission: Jump 16, Midwest

Hints: This jump is quite difficult, but there is no easier alternative. Use nitro boost while on the ramp and in mid-air. If you still cannot make it, leave it for the end.

Rotor: Jump 10, Midwest

Hints: Use nitro boost after you cross the test gate.

Tires: Jump 1, Midwest

The developers of The Crew first aimed at fun and the ease of handling so, the driving model here is not too demanding. Of course, it is best to play using the gamepad or the steering wheel, but you will not lag behind, if you use the keyboard. The differences in driving each car are not so big to need tens of hours with each, to feel it. Also tracks are very similar to each other.

The driving model in The Crew is a far cry from being a simulation, nor does it resemble ones from the more involved racing games. The idea was to implement the arcade style and it seems to have been a good idea. The driving model allows you to brake while entering a turn, or while skidding, without major consequences. Also, there is no possibility of getting dirt on brakes, which would make your car skid. Also, you do not need to worry about the wear to the tires.

Still, don't take me wrong - it is not a negative rating to the game. It is a description of what you can and cannot do.

In the screenshot red has been used to mark the braking zone, yellow for the fragment where you neither brake nor accelerate, and green where you step on it. F course, everything depends on the individual turn and your speed.

Street Races

Driving path - street - Driving path - Races - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughDriving path - street

During street races, you can gain the edge over your opponents by cutting corners correctly. The distance from the turn, where you need to start the cut, depends mainly on the speed and the car. Still, you can stop braking while turning. Usually, on streets, you can straighten bends and drive over pavement and grass. Also, you will often have to knick a lamppost or a pole. You need to remember, however, that most probably, the car will jump on the curb so, you need to perform the actual part of the turn before you enter it. At the turn exit, immediately accelerate and press nitro boost.

Off-road Races

Driving path - chippings - Driving path - Races - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughDriving path - chippings

In off-road races you usually drive off-road cars. With such cars, you can easily straighten bends to the extent permitted by the situation of checkpoints. Often, you do not even need to use the brake, and you only need to release acceleration for the moment of passing the turn. The turn itself should be taken behind the pole that is often present there.

Circuit Races

Driving path - racetrack - Driving path - Races - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Driving path - racetrack

While racing on racetracks, cutting corners is not such an option. The starting phase of the maneuver is the same, as in the case of street races. Braking up to the turn may also take place, while turning. However, you can enter the curb with two wheels at most, because the cars that you drive here have stiff suspension. While driving some of the cars with rear drive, you need to be careful at the turn exit and not put your foot down.

Nitro boost

When appropriately used, nitro boost provides you with an advantage over the opponent. Also bonuses, such as "Boost" and "Fire Away" may be helpful here. There are two ways to use nitro boost effectively.

On winding and tight racetracks, it is best to use nitro boost in scanty amounts, at the exit of each turn. It is the most effective on the 2nd and 3 rd gear. Thanks to this, you will be gaining an advantage, over your opponents on each short straight between turns. There is no point in using up the entire nitro boost right before the turn, because you lose the energy while braking.

The second option is using nitro boost to gain speed on long straights. In this case, however, you need to spare nitro boost before the maneuver. You use it on the last, or the last-but-one gear, which allows you to reach the top speed and speed along a given straight. Of course, both of these techniques can be combined, because in one race there may be a winding fragment, e.g. in the city, and a fast straight e.g. a motorway.

Jumps

On The Crew maps, there are many bumps and other opportunities, where you can jump. Sometimes, they may be problematic. The most important rule is to keep the wheels straightened up both at the moment of bouncing off, and landing. For this reason, you need to drive your car straight up the ramp. You may have some difficulties, while driving racing cars. They have the tendency to turn around, while landing. This is why, it is better to forget about accelerating, at the moment of landing, and if possible, drive around the ramp.

Traffic

What costs you most, during races is bumping into another car, which is a part of traffic. To avoid this, you need to observe several important rules. First, when a car appears in front of you, on a turn, you need to take a quick decision, which side to drive around it on. The safer thing is to do it outward side of the turn, because you are aided by the centrifugal force. A faster solution is to pass the car along the roadside, on the inward side, but sometimes you may not have enough time and a collision will ensue. Apart from that, you lose the energy to brake in front of another car, to fit in. Therefore, you need to be sure and, if in doubt, take the outward. Secondly, do not hesitate to brake, because even on a straight, you lose less time by braking, than as a result of a collision. While on a motorway, or any other fast track, stick between the two lanes, because there always is enough space there, to fit in with your car.

Midwest - long kilometers of plains, Ozark mountains, Great Lakes and Mississippi river. This is where the "Motor City", i.e. Detroit is. This is where club 5-10 and Chicago are, as well as the adorable Saint Louis. This is where street cars reign, ideal for races in cities and on Great Plains. In Detroit there is the Midwest HQ, the dealer and the tuning garage for street cars. Below, I present hints for the individual missions here.

A little nudge

A little nudge - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughA little nudge

In this mission, you need to destroy the opponent's car. To do this, you simply need to bump into it. This may be trifle difficult. Try to keep at a short distance, and when there is, around 1:30 mins left, the opponent drives into a formation that resembles a crater. He is driving right. It is an ideal situation to cut him off, which will ensure you with completion of the mission.

In the "Escape" mission, you need to escape from the chasing police. It is easy to lose them, by passing under the building in the above screenshot. To get to it, at the beginning of the mission drive ahead and you spot it on your right.

The parking lot - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe parking lot

As soon as you pass under the building, the police may get confused for a moment. This is not the end of the mission though, because there are patrols at the other side of the building and the confused units will soon resume their pursuit. If you play your cards well, you complete this mission within a minute.

Slow down before you enter the intersection. After the V2 approaches, slam into it. You will require several attempts, to time it well, but you will succeed eventually. If you have the weaker car, you can try to collide head on.

Turf war

Turf war - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughTurf war

To get good results in "Turf war" you need to straighten bends as much as possible. The situation of checkpoints does not require you to enter turns perfectly. Still, watch out for curbs that make your car jump. Keep that in mind and take the turn earlier, than on a smooth surface.

XFINITY Speed challenge

XFINITY - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughXFINITY

In XFINITY you drive a circuit car. It is not that easy to handle. What is the highest merit here is patience. Do not accelerate on turns and do not use nitro boost too often. One mistake here does not rule out your chances of succeeding, because the race is long.

Friend Till' the End

Friends - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFriends

In this mission, you need to escape from Troy's crew. It is similar to escaping the police. The best way to lose enemies is to search out narrow alleyways between buildings and posts. Also, you can drive into the forest.

Shortcut: Omar

In "Omar" you drive an off-road car. Towards the end of the race, between the fifth checkpoint and the finish line, GPS is leading you out to the asphalt road. Still, go left, up the path, best by using nitro boost, to reach the finish line faster.

Shortcut: Overpower

Overpower - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughOverpower

In this one, the checkpoints are situated in a way that, in theory, allows for cutting many corners. However, the majority of them turn out to be too difficult for a street car. There only is one shortcut that may help you achieve victory. It is at the beginning of the race, past the second checkpoint. Instead of turning left, drive ahead, across the sunflower fields and behind the house.

Crumple zone

This mission is the last one on the Midwest, which is why it has three sub-missions to it. In the first one, you need to eliminate the test driver, do a fast circuit on a track and escape Troy's crew in the last one.

The pursuit on the starting lane - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe pursuit on the starting lane

During the pursuit stay at a short distance of the test driver. When there is 1:15 mins left, he will start u-turning to the right. IT is an ideal situation to make both of you meet. As soon as you slam into the car, the mission ends. If you fail, over and over again, you can drive into the starting lane and aim for the head-on with the test driver.

Test drive - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughTest drive

Test drive takes place on an oval racetrack. There are two left turns only, there. You are driving a very fast car so, you need to watch out on turns. Stick to the inward of the track and use Nitro boost on straights.

The escape - Midwest - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe escape

To escape Troy's crew fast, turn right at the very beginning of the race. This way, you will get to the very racetrack that you have been taking the test circuit on. There, you will be able to gain speed, thanks to which you leave Troy far behind.

East Coast stretches from the Canadian border, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean up to the place, where Potomac joins Chesapeake bay. The most populated city in the USA is here- New York, the capital city - Washington and hundreds of kilometers of wilderness. Outside of cities, off road races often take place here. Work the Body

Work the Body - The South - Storyline missions - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughWork the Body

The "Work the Body" Mission resembles precision test a bit. You need to destroy crates by running into them You simply need to scratch them, and it counts. You need to destroy 80 out of 100 so, you do not need to do this perfectly, and you can skip several crates. At the beginning of the mission, they are far away from each other. Therefore, focus on your speed in the first part, to reach the city as fast as possible. The crates come in clusters, in the city. They are marked on the map so, deal first with the ones in big clusters It is best to pick one of the sides, at the beginning, and get to one cluster after another.

Counter

This chapter presents the best cars for each specification. You can find here the ones that are suitable for players that are low on money, and they cannot afford, e.g. a Lamborghini. Of course, in spite of that, the list also specifies the supercars that you pay really a lot for. There only are the cars available for all the players so, you cannot find the Mini Cooper or McLaren 12C there.

Car statistics are supplied for versions at level 1101, with all the platinum parts of level 40 installed.

Ford Mustang GT 2011

Ford Mustang - The best Street cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFord Mustang

Price: 22 500$ or 4 999 KC

Availability: from level 1, at the car dealership in Detroit

Ford Mustang is here mainly because it is one of the cars that you need to pick at the beginning of the game. It is the best one, of the ones offered to you, because it combines maneuverability with speed at the right ratio. Still, it often loses the grip with the ground, while turning, due to the skidding of the rear axle.

Upsides: affordable price, top speed

Downsides: weight, the rear axle slips while in turns

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)

Nissan Skyline - The best Street cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughNissan Skyline

Price: 108 000$ or 23 997 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Nissan Skyline is an excellent car, mainly to the four wheel drive. In The Crew, it is 4x4 that are very good, because they accelerate quickly and do not skid. Skyline does very well on bends, but sometimes, its rear escapes. It is quite pricy, as for this stage into the game, but you can buy it for premium currency.

Upsides: acceleration, 4x4 drive, good performance, also in different specifications

Downsides: high price, sizeable

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen Golf GTI - The best Street cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughVolkswagen Golf GTI

Price: 81 000$ or 17 998 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Volkswagen Golf GTI is a small car, perfect for races on winding streets. It is small and lightweight and, which follows, highly maneuverable. Thanks to the front-wheel drive, it is quick to exit bends, even if you lose your grip. It has quite good acceleration, but is inferior to the stronger cars, while on straights. It is cheaper than Nissan Skyline, but it is available only in street version, which makes it a less profitable buy, at the beginning of the game.

Upsides: front-wheel drive, good maneuverability, low weight

Downsides: low acceleration, available only in the street version

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 2010

Ford F-150 - The best off-road cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFord F-150

Price: 85 500$ or 18 998 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Ford F-150 is a very heavy car, which does quite well as an off-road one. Thanks to its weight, it "sticks' to any surface. Raptor is excellent with hill-jumping, as well. It mass, however, affects its performance. It is inferior to the smaller cars, while on straights, and is also worse up the slope.

Upsides: very good grip, good landing properties

Downsides: high weight, low acceleration

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)

Nissan Skyline - The best off-road cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughNissan Skyline

Price: 108 000$ or 23 997 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Nissan Skyline appears in the set of the best cars again. What deserves a mention is the high acceleration, resulting from low weight and the 4x4 drive. This car has the tendency to position its side towards the front, which may result in bad reception of the car, by a beginner driver. As a matter of fact, it is its upside, because it can be easily controlled while drifting, which is the best method of driving the car. Sometimes, however you can miscalculate and get off the turn. This car is lightweight, due to which it sometimes behave strange, while landing.

Upsides: easy to control in drifts, acceleration, good performance, even in different specs

Downsides: grip, behavior while hill-jumping

Ford Focus RS 2010

Ford Focus - The best off-road cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFord Focus

Price: 22 500$ or 4 900 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Ford Focus takes its place, somewhere between Raptor and Skyline. It sticks to the road, but not as well as F-150, and drifts off sometimes. It is lightweight and maneuverable, but on a straight, it is also slower than Nissan. However, if you learn to handle Focus, you can get very high scores. The big advantage is the price, which is the mere $22 500, thanks to which you can afford Ford right at the beginning of the game.

Upsides: affordable price, lightweight, good acceleration

Downsides: behavior after hill-jumping, difficult to control in drifts

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)

Nissan Skyline - The best performance cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughNissan Skyline

Price: 108 000$ or 23 997 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Nissan Skyline appears in the group of the best cars again. This time, it is the performance specification. The car is quite maneuverable and it deals with bends better than heavier cars. It accelerates to 200 km/h fast, but still, it is worse on straights than the more powerful cars. However, it is an excellent choice for storyline missions and the initial PvP races.

Upsides: lightweight, good maneuverability on bends, good performance also in different specs

Downsides: poor acceleration from 200 to 300 km/h

Ford Focus RS 2010

Ford Focus - The best performance cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFord Focus

Price: 22 500$ or 4 900 KC

Availability: starting with level 10, at the car dealership in New York

Ford Focus is an inconspicuous car, but also in its performance version, it does quite well. Of course, its advantage is the maneuverability so, it is going to do better on winding roads and in cities. There, it is capable of overtaking even the cars that are twice as expensive. However, it is inferior to them on straights.

Upsides: maneuverability, affordable price

Downsides: poor acceleration

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

Lamborghini Aventador - The best performance cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughLamborghini Aventador

Price: 567 000$ or 125 987 KC

Availability: starting with level 40, at the car dealership in Los Angeles

Lamborghini Aventador combines speed and maneuverability in simple proportions. This car is very good in tight bends, because it sticks to the road. Also, it is very fast and, which is most important, you can quickly gain speed. In the game, there are more maneuverable or faster cars, but there is not a single one that would excel at both. This is why, many consider Aventador the best car in the game.

Upsides: good grip, very good acceleration

Downsides: high price

Buggy

Buggy - The best raid cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughBuggy

Price: 0$

Availability: starting with level 1, after you find 20 hidden parts in Mountain States

Buggy is a very good raid car. It is small, and smart, thanks to which it sticks on bends. Buggy is light so it hops on every uneven surface, due to which it is easy to lose control of it, while out in wilderness. The greatest advantage is that is a free car, which makes it perfect for the initial storyline missions that require a raid car. For PvP races, it is better to get a bigger and faster car.

Upsides: free of charge, sticks to the road on bends

Downsides: hops even o small bumps on the road, poor acceleration and top speed

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2010

Chevrolet Silverado - The best raid cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughChevrolet Silverado

Price: 99 000$ or 21 997 KC

Availability: starting with level 30, at the car dealership in Las Vegas

Chevrolet Silverado is an excellent combination of a decently fast car and one that is big and heavyweight. Thanks to this, it is not going to hop on every bump. It has decent acceleration, but poor top speed. In spite of that, it is excellent for off-road.

Upsides: does not hop on bumps, good acceleration

Downsides: poor top speed

RUF 3400 K

RUF 3400 K - The best raid cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughRUF 3400 K

Price: 495 000$ or 109 989 KC

Availability: starting with level 30, at the car dealership in Las Vegas

RUF 3400 K is a very fast car, even in the raid specs. It is very light and fast, thanks to which you can speed as fast as 300 km/h, on smooth roads. The car does well on bends and has very good acceleration. Although the RUF 3400 K often hops, even on small bumps, usually it is possible to keep control of it.

Upsides: acceleration, top speed, bend handling

Downsides: Price, hops on bumps

Nissan 370z (Z34) 2013

Nissan 370 z - The best circuit cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughNissan 370 z

Price: 22 500$ or 4 999 KC

Availability: starting with level 1 at the car dealership in Detroit

Nissan 370z is a quite good car to start your adventure, with circuit cars, with, especially that these are much more difficult to handle than e.g. performance cars. It is lightweight, thanks to which it sticks to the road on bends. Still, in combination with its rear wheel drive and power, it is prone to oversteering at the bend exits. While driving the car, you need to be careful with nitro boost, because it may lose its grip, even on straights. In spite of that, Nissan 370z is very cheap, thanks to which, you can buy it even before the initial missions in the West Coast.

Upsides: Price, lightweight

Downsides: low power, prone to oversteering at bend exits

Ford GT 2005

Ford GT - The best circuit cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughFord GT

Price: 225 000$ or 49 995 KC

Availability: starting with level 40, at the car dealership in Los Angeles

Ford GT is a sheer speed demon. It is capable of accelerating to 380 kph., and even to 400 km/h and, which is most important, retain that speed on motorways or other straights. It does a bit more poorly on bends. It often loses its grip and forces early braking. Ford GT is easy to lose its grip, when nitro boost is used, even on a straight.

Upsides: good acceleration, high top speed

Downsides: loses its grip in bends, difficult to use nitro boost

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3

SLS - The best circuit cars - Car list - The Crew - Game Guide and WalkthroughSLS

Price: 558 000$ or 123 987 KC

Availability: starting with level 40, at the car dealership in Los Angeles

Mercedes SLS is an excellent circuit car. It sticks to the road well and apart from that, it is very fast and maneuverable. This car is 558 th. Bucks, which may seem a steep price, but it is the best car for circuits so, it is definitely worth the money. SLS has very good grip on asphalt surfaces so, you can use nitro boost at high speeds, which is a rarity, in the case of circuit cars.

Upsides: high power, very good grip

Downsides: Price

In The Crew, the developers decided to introduce all sorts of collectibles, in the form of car parts hidden all around the map - Wreck parts - The Crew - Game Guide and Walkthrough

In The Crew, the developers decided to introduce all sorts of collectibles, in the form of car parts hidden all around the map. You can construct cars using these parts. In each region, there are 20 parts and 1 car to construct.

When you are near a wrecked car, next to the radar, there appears an icon with a car silhouette. Then, the radar displays the direction to follow. If you are far away, red color appears, if you get closer, red turns into orange and then, into green, which means you are very close.

You can get misled, because this is what the radar looks like, also when you are near a relay. The difference is the icon, then. The relays point you to skill tests in undiscovered areas.

The Crew has been released on four platforms - PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 4. The game has not been released for Playstation 3. The developers attached care to details and pleasant graphics. However, with low graphics settings, the game may also be played on older computers, given the fact that framerate is not as important in a racing game as, e.g. in shooters. In spite of that, minimum system requirements seem to be a bit too low.
