Men of War: Vietnam Game Guide & Walkthrough

This guide to Men of War: Vietnam contains a detailed description of all ten missions, divided into two campaigns - for North Vietnam and the USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

This guide to Men of War: Vietnam contains a detailed description of all ten missions, divided into two campaigns - for North Vietnam and the USA. Each description represents not only an effective way to successfully complete the mission by performing all of the main objectives, but also specific guidelines to ensure the completing of all the secondary objectives.

Moreover, the description has been prepared with a view to completing the campaigns on hard difficulty level, which means getting almost all the achievements. However, some missions have to be completed several times on all three levels of difficulty (and these are three different achievements), but the methods listed in the guide include, of course, also lower levels of difficulty. The higher the level, the lower the accuracy and survivability of our soldiers.

Please note, however, that Men of War: Vietnam is a very unpredictable game and some events may take a slightly different way than it was presented in the description. Still, the ways to deal with all the problems you encounter in the game are universal. The description of the first mission is particularly noteworthy as it acquaints the players with some game basics. These basic game elements are so important that ignoring them may even prevent the player from game completion. That's why it is a good idea to read the description of the first mission, even if you already have completed it.

Descriptions have been enhanced with illustrations to better present how to perform certain tasks. Also, each mission has a map, to which the description refers - numbers in square brackets marked in blue indicate particular locations on the map that is connected with the mission. In addition, some more important names (such as the names of types of troops or soldiers) are marked in green.

1 - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - map - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate enemy infantry.

You start in [1]. The first thing you will learn will be the move order. Select all four of your people and hide them in the jungle on the left or right side of the road. Wait until an enemy helicopter flies over the road and then place all of your people behind the best cover - the overturned tree, visible in the picture below. Also, do not forget to change the shooting mode to "Fire at will". It should be noted right away that your people have a much greater survival rate when they're behind covers - these are visible when you hover your mouse cursor on a piece of land. If you see the gray silhouettes of soldiers, then it is a cover. However, some covers are better than others, because, for example, scrub provides much less protection from bullets than a high rock, above which enemies will only see your soldier's head and his weapon. In this case, it will be more difficult for your opponents to harm your soldier. Another useful option is speeding up the game. You can speed up or slow down the game by using the Backspace key (default is 3, the speed of the game can be changed using hotkeys from 1 to 5). Wait for the enemy soldiers, who will come from [2], and watch them being killed by your men. After losing the majority of troops, the opponent will fall back and hide, but after some time he will strike again, and eventually withdraw. You will receive a new mission objective.

New objective: Search the supply cache on the hill - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Search the supply cache on the hill.

Select the sniper (Mozorov, you can mark him as "the first group" using Shift + 1, so that you can call him simply by pressing the 1 key) and search the bodies of allies and enemies - you're looking only for sniper rifle ammo (10 rounds in the clip) and first aid kits. Now, it's time for some shooting lessons. Place the sniper (double click LMB to issue an order of fast movement) at [3] and look at the enemy outpost in [4]. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in or away view, and hold it and move the mouse to change the camera angle. In spite of appearances, proper camera control is extremely important, because enemy soldiers will often hide in bushes or under a tree, and in this case you won't see them when facing from the top. Hold Ctrl to enter into direct control mode and place your mouse cursor on an opponent you can see in the picture below. Wait until you see a full red crosshair on him and then press the LMB - you should kill the enemy with one shot.

You have just learned something that you will be using during the game very often - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You have just learned something that you will be using during the game very often. But this is not all. It is also very important what or whom you are aiming at. If the color of the dot changes to orange, it means your shot will be accurate. And so, you will have no problem with killing the soldiers who are standing. But if one of them crouches, it will not be as easy, though you can still try to aim precisely at the heads (the rest of their bodies are hidden behind sandbags). Now try to eliminate as many enemy soldiers with the sniper without moving him from [3]. If you cannot see enemy soldiers, use the map. You can turn it on and off by pressing the M key. The combination of Ctrl + M opens a small menu of options for changing the size of the map and its transparency. You can also move the map to any location on the screen by clicking it and holding LMB and then moving the mouse.

But you won't be able to kill all the enemies this way, because eventually you will have to change your position - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

But you won't be able to kill all the enemies this way, because eventually you will have to change your position. Run to the jungle, to [5], and then look at the soldier hidden behind a rock in [7]. Now you will learn how to kill enemies silently with a knife. Choose it as a primary weapon, by clicking on it at the bottom of the screen (its icon is an icon to the right of the primary weapon - for example a sniper rifle for a sniper) and then get down. You can order a soldier to stand, crouch or lie prone by using icons in the panel at the bottom right corner of the screen, or using the Page Down, Page Up, and Space keys. Crawl from [5] to [6], then get as close to the rocks as possible - your opponent is behind them. Hold down the Ctrl key and click the LBM on an enemy soldier. Make sure, of course, that the dot has changed its color into orange. The knife should kill the soldier without any noise.

Don't be surprised, though, if the soldier isn't there, as randomness is another feature of the Men of War: Vietnam game - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Don't be surprised, though, if the soldier isn't there, as randomness is another feature of the Men of War: Vietnam game. Anyway, the sniper should go to [8] and stand among the trees. Kill one enemy, and then hide immediately. Wait until the rest of the enemies stop firing, then lean out and kill the next opponent. Keep doing this till you kill all your enemies. If one of them had managed to hide in one of the huts and he doesn't intend to leave, place your people near the door and throw a grenade inside. This is a great way to clear buildings from enemies. Also, keep in mind that various obstacles (such as trees or buildings) can prevent a sniper from hitting a specific opponent. Should this happen, try moving the sniper a few feet in either direction, to make an accurate hit possible.

Take the knife, with which you killed one of the enemies (hold down the Tab key to highlight items that you can pick up), and then search the supply caches in [9] - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Take the knife, with which you killed one of the enemies (hold down the Tab key to highlight items that you can pick up), and then search the supply caches in [9]. Make each of your three men (except for the sniper) take ten rockets and one missile launcher (in the rest of the mission you will learn why this is the most efficient solution). You can also top up some first aid kits and ammunition for the sniper. Order all of your men to hide behind sandbags and the sniper to take the road. You will receive new mission objectives and the map will enlarge. Speed ??up the game to make the enemies take their positions in the vicinity of the bridge quicker.

1 - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Neutralize enemy helicopters before they take off.

Place the sniper in [10], from here you should reach a soldier patrolling in [11]. However, this and the next battles will be more difficult. Previously, the opponents did not go in pursuit of a sniper, but from now on they will, so you can easily get hit or even die. Enemies will be virtually in constant motion, hiding among the trees and bushes, which can make accurate pointing very difficult (though not impossible). So remember to save the game before taking any 'action'. Kill the enemy on your side of the bridge in [12] and others who will run there, and then a solitary guard patrolling in [13]. Generally, kill as many as possible, but if you notice that an opponent moves in your direction, order the sniper to run to his comrades and wait until everything calms down, and the enemies return to their previous positions.

When the first part of the bridge gets cleared of all enemies, its time for the next one - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When the first part of the bridge gets cleared of all enemies, it's time for the next one. But first, lie down on the road in the area of [14] and start to aim at enemies on the other side (around [15]). You can also go to the shore next to the bridge, which will make it easier to hit enemies patrolling the opposite bank (vicinity of [16]). Your task is to clear the outskirts of the base. Eliminate the approaching soldiers, as well as those inside the base (if you manage to aim at them) but be careful not to scare pilots! If one of them hears any screams or sees a corpse of his friend, the whole group will escape to helicopters and fly away, and you can't afford it. But pilots do not always behave like this. Sometimes, despite the turmoil in the base, they remain in their places and don't go anywhere. There are no rules for that.

After cleaning the outskirts of the base crawl over the bridge with all of your people - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After cleaning the outskirts of the base crawl over the bridge with all of your people. Place the sniper in [17] and the rest in [16]. Now, a difficult task awaits you. You have to lure all the guards from [18], [19], [20] and [21] (some of them are patrolling, others are just standing) yet not alert any pilots. It's not an easy operation, so be patient. Try to lure enemies from [18] and [19] by shooting anywhere or near them. If this trick does not work when the sniper is lying in [17], move him a little bit closer to the base, shoot, and then back off. If the guards leave their posts, but start to return after a while - shoot again. Your task is to lure them to the road or near it in such a way that you can kill them right there and at the same time make sure the pilots will not see it.

In fact, if you manage to kill at least three enemies in [18] and [19], and the pilots will remain in place, you can consider yourself successful - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

In fact, if you manage to kill at least three enemies in [18] and [19], and the pilots will remain in place, you can consider yourself successful. The rest of the enemies in the above mentioned locations as well as in [20] and [21] are not that difficult to kill. First, try finishing off those who are patrolling, then the rest. If the death of one of the enemies makes his colleagues look for a sniper, get down and back off to the riverbank. When the guards return to their positions, continue the mission. Make sure there are no enemies in the vicinity of [18], [19], [20] and [21]. Next, place all your people near the fallen trees (near the three helicopters in [22]).

Once your troops reach the proper positions, shown in the picture below, its time for some fast action, in which you'll destroy three helicopters - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Once your troops reach the proper positions, shown in the picture below, it's time for some fast action, in which you'll destroy three helicopters. First, each of your soldiers with a rocket launcher has to constitute a separate control group (Shift + 2, Shift + 3 Shift + 4), so that you can quickly call them with hotkeys (2, 3, 4). For all - choose a rocket launcher as their main weapon (click on the rifle at the bottom of the screen to change the main weapon for each of your men). Perform the following operation doing everything exactly in this order: press 2, then hold Ctrl and move the cursor to the farthest of the helicopters. Wait until the circle around the crosshair becomes green, and then release Ctrl and press 3. Hold Ctrl and move the cursor to the helicopter on the left, wait, let go Ctrl key and finally, press 4, point at the right helicopter, wait and release Ctrl key when the circle becomes green. You have just made each of your men face the proper direction, which will speed up the attack on the helicopters. You will notice a soldier patrolling the area behind the left helicopter. Wait until he reaches the cabin. Slow down your game and save it, and then (again, exactly in the given order) do the following: move the cursor to the farthest helicopter, press 2, hold down Ctrl, click the LMB, release the Ctrl, point at the left helicopter, press 3, hold down Ctrl, click the LBM, release the Ctrl, point at the right helicopter, press 4, then hold Ctrl and click the LMB one last time. Only now release the Ctrl, select all your men and... run! Double-click on the forest, then run toward the shore and lay your men there. You can also save your game immediately after the destruction of helicopters, in case someone gets killed while fleeing. Usually one of your men is harmed, but not killed. However, if someone does die, load the saved game.

1 - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Find a working means of transportation.

Since the pilots are no longer a problem, you can go loud. Take advantage of everything you have learned so far and simply clean the base of every enemy soldier. If you do not do it, your opponents will make the end of the mission difficult, so it's really better to prevent this from happening. Use mainly your sniper - kill individual enemies and run, and then strike again. You can also place your men behind a good cover and eliminate groups of enemies that come running. Save your game after each enemy's death, in case some of your men get killed. When no one is close, get in any of the trucks at [23]. You will receive another mission objective. Search for ammo and first aid kits for the sniper before you go further.

New objective: Capture the fishing boat - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Capture the fishing boat.

You will use the sniper once more but this time his task will be very easy. Place him behind a rock in [24] - exactly in the same way as it is shown in the picture below. Save your game and start to aim and shoot the soldiers who are on the other side. Rocks provide excellent protection, so the chances of getting injured are very low. Of course, enemies can still hit you, so save your game after killing 2-3 opponents. If you do get hit, duck (Page down) and use first aid kits to heal yourself. After finishing most of the opponents off you will have to change position of your sniper in order to shoot any enemy survivors. Once all the opponents are dead, select all of your men and swim to the other side, then order one of them to get on the fishing boat. Unfortunately, it's not the end of your troubles, because the fishing boat has an empty tank.

New objective: Find fuel for the fishing boat - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Find fuel for the fishing boat.

Your next task is to kill all enemies in the vicinity of the destroyed house in [25] and the ruined church in [26]. This time, however, you will use all of your men. Encircle the aforementioned enemy outpost and place all your men behind a rock visible in the picture below [27]. This is a great cover. Select the sniper and kill any enemy, then run to the rest of his comrades. Again, make sure the enemies will not return to the outpost after searching for the causes of their colleague's death. Encourage them with a few shots. Opponents should get divided into two groups, which will only facilitate their elimination. Your sniper can easily kill the rest of the enemies who have not left their positions. You can also sneak behind the church and get rid of the enemies at a closer range.

You need to prepare for your last fight - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You need to prepare for your last fight. Leave all of your men in [27], except for the sniper. Send him to the boat, swim back to the other side, and then hide behind the familiar rocks in [24]. Select one of your men and make some space in his inventory by throwing out all rockets and the rocket launcher. Pick up the canister lying in the middle of the destroyed church (use the Tab key to highlight all the items that can be taken), save your game and slow it down.

New objective: Fill up the boat and get your squad in - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Fill up the boat and get your squad in.

After a while the area will be swarming with enemies, but the canister is so heavy that you can't run with it. Therefore, throw it out of your inventory (press I, then click and hold the LMB on the canister, then drag it out of the inventory window) and just leave it in the church. Select all the three men, quickly run to [29] and hide them there. Speed up the game and wait until all the enemy soldiers are near the boat. As soon as it happens, save your game and start to eliminate them in the same way as you did before. Now, however, it might be a little harder, as there are more enemies, making the chance one of hitting you greater. The picture below shows the position that enables you to easily aim at the enemies who will be on the left side. Still, we advise to save your game after 2-3 killed enemy soldiers, and then duck and heal yourself if you got harmed. You can also speed up the game to make aiming quicker. Eventually, you will manage to kill all the enemies in the [25]. Group your soldiers together by the fishing boat and get on it to complete this mission.

1 - Mission 1: Until the trouble troubles you - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

1 - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - map - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Meet the contact.

There's not going to be a warm welcome, so you'd better prepare for it. Do not swim to shore, instead move the fishing boat back to [1] (see the picture below). Make sure one of your men operates the heavy machinegun mounted on the boat (set his shooting mode to "fire at will"). Select the other soldier, jump into the water and swim to the shore [2]. Once the enemy forces start coming from all sides, quickly run to [3] and then hide in [4]. Once you're half the way, start crawling and continue the journey on the ground, so that the enemies won't discover you.

Start the ruthless enemy extermination using the gun mounted on the boat (take a direct control of a soldier who operates it) - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Start the ruthless enemy extermination using the gun mounted on the boat (take a direct control of a soldier who operates it). You will have no problem with killing all the enemies - some will try to swim, others to hide, but you need to keep eliminating them all patiently. Check on the map where the enemy soldiers are located - sometimes you'll just have to shoot blindly into the water. After getting rid of all your opponents you will get new mission objectives and the map will enlarge.

New objective: Find radio.

New objective: Find fuel.

Your boat will run out of fuel soon, but you will manage to swim in the vicinity of [5]. Once you're there, open fire on soldiers in [6] and [7]. This will lure everyone to shore. Start killing enemies with the machinegun mounted on the boat exactly in the same way as before. If you have difficulty with luring the opponents, you should know that one of them just has to get hit (they don't always react to the sound of shots coming from the boat). First, eliminate those in [6], then swim towards the shore until your fuel runs out, and start shooting at enemies in [7]. The last enemies will come to shore separately, so just wait for them patiently.

But not everyone will be willing to die so easily, that's why use the sniper to get rid of the rest - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

But not everyone will be willing to die so easily, that's why use the sniper to get rid of the rest. Get off the boat and swim to [8] (here you can go ashore), then get down and clear the forest of enemy soldiers. There should be a few enemies at most and they will appear in different places, so you shouldn't have any difficulties with completing this task. If some of them are hiding in the building, use grenades. Along the way you will also locate the radio and get a new mission objective. Look for the bodies of riflemen and replenish the sniper ammunition. Also, obtain some additional first aid kits - the more the better.

New objective: Use the radio - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Use the radio.

We will deal with this objective later, after cleaning the map from the enemies. Order all of your men to leave the boat and select the sniper. Send him to [2] and, again, use his skills to deal with a few isolated soldiers patrolling the area of irrigated fields, as well as a small group stationed in [9].

In the distance you will see a patrol boat that will become your next mission objective - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

In the distance you will see a patrol boat that will become your next mission objective. The next small group of enemy soldiers is in [10]. You can either use the sniper to finish them one by one (a secure method) or hide all your men in the bushes in [11] and open fire (i.e., change the shooting mode from "Hold fire" to "Fire at will"). Snipe out single enemies hanging around the area and prepare to take over the boat.

1 - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Capture a patrol boat.

For that to happen, obviously, you have to eliminate all enemies. You will begin unusually by sneaking in the bushes near a group of enemies standing close to each other in [12]. Hide yourself and throw a grenade at them - with a bit of luck you'll kill at least a few - and then quickly move away (run at the beginning, then crawl). Use the sniper to finish any remaining single enemies in the area until there are only those who are standing around the patrol boat left.

Move the sniper on the bridge in [13] - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Move the sniper on the bridge in [13]. Because the opponents already know about your presence, some of them managed to get on the patrol boat [14], and the guns on it, though off-target, are really deadly. That's why, start by killing three enemies that operate guns in the front (after killing the first enemy the second will appear) and the back of the boat (there is only one here). Next, quickly retreat and hide. Beware of the enemies who decide to venture out to go and try to chase you, though it probably won't happen.

Now, you will face an arduous elimination of all soldiers on the patrol boat using your sniper - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Now, you will face an arduous elimination of all soldiers on the patrol boat using your sniper. You can go to [15] in order to do it. Lean out, remove one, two or three, and then hide. Start by killing the Riflemen. Wait until the enemies stop firing and attack that way again. If you get hit, hide and heal yourself, and remember to save the game after each successful assassination. Watch out for the soldiers who will pass through the wooden bridge in [13] - kill them in the first place. When you manage to kill all, send all your men to the patrol boat in [14] and get on inside.

Order two soldiers to operate two machineguns on the boat and swim to [16] - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Order two soldiers to operate two machineguns on the boat and swim to [16]. You'll notice an enemy patrol boat that will appear on the map. Wait for it in [16] and when it reaches the [17], swim out and attack. First, shoot the enemy who operates the gun. Then start shooting at the boat trying to kill as many enemies as you can, and fire at the water as well (because some enemies will try to escape by swimming). If some opponents are hiding behind the boat, simply swim close to it and finish them all.

Next, swim to [18] and leave your boat here for a while - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Next, swim to [18] and leave your boat here for a while. Order one of your men to get out and swim to shore in [19] - he will lure the opponents. Approach one of the buildings, but as soon as you notice the red dots on a map, get away as quickly as possible (double click and don't run on water, because it slows your movement down!) to [20], and then crawl to [21]. Next choose a soldier who operates a heavy machinegun, save your game and start shooting at the village in [19]. Of course, enemies will come running to your boat but you just need to keep killing them all. If you keep the pace of aiming, none of them should be able to manage to fire at the boat. Still, save your game from time to time if everything is going on well and none of your men is harmed.

Only after you've killed the opponents who wanted to ambush you, should you definitely save your game, speed it up and order all of your soldiers to run to the radio in [22] - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Only after you've killed the opponents who wanted to ambush you, should you definitely save your game, speed it up and order all of your soldiers to run to the radio in [22]. Stand next to it and listen to the dialogue. After a while the map will enlarge and you'll get the last mission objective.

1 - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate hostiles by the temporary ranger HQ.

Go back to the patrol boat and place it in [23]. This is a great place to easily kill all the enemy soldiers in the vicinity of [24] with a heavy machinegun mounted on the boat. If some of them hid themselves inside the huts, fire at these buildings until they are destroyed. Of all the enemies in this place there should remain only one - leave him and go to [25].

Save your game - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Save your game. An American boat will sail from the opposite direction from [26]. Since both you and your opponent are directed opposite each other, victory will belong to the one who would first eliminate the soldier who operates a heavy machinegun. So do not lose this duel. I would be the best to kill the aforementioned enemy soldier even before the boat is in your reach. Shoot until you remove the heavy machinegun operator, then knock out the rest of the crew in the same way you did last time.

Carefully, swim to [27] - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Carefully, swim to [27]. Watch out, after a while a few enemies with grenade launchers will show up in [28]. You have to eliminate them as soon as possible since these soldiers can easily reduce your crew, and what is even more dangerous, they can quickly destroy your boat, and that you cannot afford. The boat, however, is quite durable, so you have some time to kill them.

Place your boat in [29] and do it exactly as it's shown in the picture below - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Place your boat in [29] and do it exactly as it's shown in the picture below. Make sure your soldiers can operate both heavy machineguns mounted on the boat. Choose one of them and start to shoot blindly at the base in [30]. Interestingly, from this distance and angle you're able to kill a few opponents in the base, even though it is located higher and at a considerable distance from the boat. The opponents will, of course, run in your direction. Kill those who will be running through the woods, and when a few of them groups together at the shore on the left, select the second (left) heavy machinegun and by controlling it directly, wipe out every visible enemy soldier. Switch from one heavy machinegun to another, trying to knock out as many enemies as you can.

When you get the message that the base has been cleared, don't leave the boat yet - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you get the message that the base has been cleared, don't leave the boat yet. First, find an enemy sniper who is sitting at one of the trees (look at the picture below). You can hit him from your boat using a heavy machinegun, so the biggest difficulty here will be finding him (maybe you'll need to approach him by one of your men but the chosen one will have to encircle the enemy base to do it). When the sniper falls down from the tree, get off the boat and run to the base. Select one of your men and pick up the radio near the well [30] (hold down the Tab key to highlight all objects, including the radio). Here, the mission ends.

1 - Mission 2: Vietnamese Connection - p. 3 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

1 - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - map - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Reclaim the bridge.

Don't worry about the briefing. The enemy troops will not come until you take over the control of the bridge, thus, you can safely make some noise. But watch out for two snipers in [1] and [2] who may deprive you of your life with one shot at any time if you're not careful. Once a red dot appears on your sniper, it will mean that the enemy sniper is aiming at him. Immediately run to some other place, until you are no longer in the enemy snipers' sight. These enemies are being camouflaged, so you can't see them on the map, but we will deal with them later. You will start by eliminating a few solitary soldiers patrolling the map. Select the sniper (you start at [3]) and run to [4]. Wait for the soldier who will stop at the shore in [5] for a while and then kill him quickly.

The next target will come from the path leading into the jungle - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The next target will come from the path leading into the jungle. Wait until there is some distance between him and his companion who is on patrol near the road. When the first soldier comes to [6], kill him. In the meantime, eliminate another individual soldiers. Strike at the third, when he stops in [7] and place the sniper near the road to kill the fourth, when he gets to [8].

Time for snipers in [1] and [2] - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Time for snipers in [1] and [2]. They're both standing with their backs turned to the river and, as it was already mentioned, they're camouflaged. To discover them, you can either provoke them to shoot, or approach one of them really closely (right under the tree they're sitting on). The second option is safer, provided you properly go around the lines watched by the snipers and approach them from the location they aren't currently looking at. Both snipers are visible on the images below, in both cases after the discovery of one of them - move a few feet away from the tree (but not to the place the sniper is looking at!), then bring the enemy sitting on it down with a single and accurate sniper shot. Do not forget to gather their ammo and first aid kits afterwards.

1 - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and WalkthroughFirst, you must deal with two solitary soldiers on patrol away from the outpost, and then with the very outpost near the bridge - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

First, you must deal with two solitary soldiers on patrol away from the outpost, and then with the very outpost near the bridge. Hide in the bushes in [8] and start systematically wiping all the soldiers in [9] and [10] out. Focus your attention primarily on those who operate the mortars in [9]. Contrary to appearances, you don't have to be that afraid of this weapon. You can take the precaution of saving the game, but the mortars are really very off-target and the projectile would have to hit your sniper directly to kill him. New enemies will appear in place of the killed ones, those who operated heavy guns in bunkers, on the watchtower in [10] and the mortars in [9]. Their behavior will only help you get the job done.

Every now and then you can move your sniper if the mortars shells start to explode disturbingly close (look at the first image below) - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Every now and then you can move your sniper if the mortars shells start to explode disturbingly close (look at the first image below). Escape is also a necessity if a flare lightens up the area near your sniper (second image). Quickly run away from this place, because if you are spotted you'll be an easy target for the mortars. Still, the only bigger problem may be the soldiers who will start sweeping the forest to find your sniper. If it happens, simply stop killing the enemies and hide somewhere else. Wait until they return to the outpost and start the massacre again. If you cannot reach some enemies from one position, try changing it.

2 - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe few remaining enemies will withdraw to the other side of the bridge - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The few remaining enemies will withdraw to the other side of the bridge. Group the people near the gate, but now select the sniper to fight. Stand by the bridge and start doing the same thing as before, that is, removing the enemy soldiers in [11] and [12]. You can also put one of your men on the watchtower - there is a heavy machinegun there, which will help you in the elimination of enemies. Focus especially on those opponents who operate heavy machineguns (including the second watchtower). Again, if you kill such an opponent on the tower, another will take his place, and after him the next one and so on. In this way, you can easily kill a lot of enemies. After such a massacre there should be only a few enemies left. Sneak behind each of them through the bridge and eliminate them silently with your knife. When sneaking past one of them, make sure that the other will not see you (you can crawl behind the sandbags). After killing all the enemies you will receive a new mission objective.

3 - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Repel attacks on the southern roadblock.

You have one and a half minute to prepare. Select one of your men and pick up the rockets and the rocket launcher from one of the three boxes that are lying by the road (they're closer to the right side of the outpost, which is in [10]). Send him and other two soldiers (including the sniper) to the bridge. They should lie down and turn themselves in the direction of [13], as the first enemy attack will come from this spot. Send the fourth soldier to the watchtower in [10] and also make him face the direction of [13]. The first attack will consist of four jeeps coming one after another, which means you'll have some time to destroy them separately. Slow down the game and keep switching between the three posts (the watchtower and two buildings covered with sandbags) with heavy machineguns to choose your next targets. Your goal is to not lose any soldiers who operate heavy machineguns in the above-mentioned buildings. Keep firing at one jeep, until all three enemies in it are dead, and then take care of the next. Switch to another machinegun if the previous one needs to be reloaded.

After a while you will receive a message that a patrol boat is approaching (you can speed up the game right now) - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After a while you will receive a message that a patrol boat is approaching (you can speed up the game right now). Two soldiers - one who operates a heavy machinegun on the boat, and the other who will take his comrade's place when he dies - can easily be removed using the heavy machinegun in [12]. The picture below should help you. Start shooting as soon as you can (i.e. when the enemy boat reaches the [14]). After killing the enemies, save your game, because the further part of the battle may take a very different course. Everything is going to depend on your luck, as well as on what the AI directing your allies and enemies will do.

Another attack, which will come from [13], will be much harder to repel - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Another attack, which will come from [13], will be much harder to repel. A few armored personnel carriers will arrive and a few enemy soldiers will come out from each of them. Again, make use mostly of the two buildings with heavy machineguns, selecting the targets directly. Try hitting the enemy vehicles from a distance, so that they will stop further from the place you're defending rather than drive up too close and disembark infantry right under your nose. The farther the enemies will be, the easier it will be to eliminate them. After stopping an APC quickly kill the soldier who operates a heavy machinegun mounted on the vehicle (you don't have to destroy the vehicles, just their crews). If someone does break through, you can always use the additional machineguns and your men lying on the bridge to get rid of any unwelcome guests. Look at the map in search of the red dots and try to control the situation. After a while you will get the last objective of this mission. There are still two attacks to repel.

New objective: Repel attacks on the northern roadblock - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Repel attacks on the northern roadblock.

The enemy will attack from the north [15]. A dozen of jeeps will come one after another, so again you must keep the pace and be accurate. Slowing the game can help you scrap some American jeeps more quickly. Switch between the two machineguns that are facing the road [15]. If one of them needs reloading, switch to another. If a jeep does break through, leave it be and just shoot at the rest. You need to count on your allies to take care of the intruder. In fact, even if only one on your soldiers remains here while the enemy jeeps are destroyed, you can consider yourself successful and prepare for the last, the heaviest attack.

Expect it to come from [13] - there's going to be an APC, two tanks and a lot of soldiers - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Expect it to come from [13] - there's going to be an APC, two tanks and a lot of soldiers. Once again, use only the guns in the two buildings and just try to kill as many of the enemy infantry as you can. Don't pay any attention to the tanks missiles exploding, just shoot at the enemy soldiers. Before the enemy tanks manage to destroy the two aforementioned buildings, you should have been able to get rid of the larger part of the enemy troops. Once there is nobody, whom you could control, on this side of the bridge, take your soldiers (those lying on the bridge) to [11] and [12] and wait. In [16] some allied soldiers with rocket launchers will appear. They'll attack the tanks, so let's hope that they destroy at least one tank.

Finally, the enemy will utterly destroy the outpost in [9] and [10], and the soldiers will try to break into [11] and [12] - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Finally, the enemy will utterly destroy the outpost in [9] and [10], and the soldiers will try to break into [11] and [12]. You cannot let this happen. Use the heavy guns that are facing the bridge to kill all enemies. If the machinegun you're controlling runs out of ammo and you will be forced to wait for it to reload, quickly switch to the second and continue killing the infantry. However, if an enemy tank destroys both machineguns (and it is possible despite the distance), load the saved game. After a while the enemies will retreat.

Your final task is to destroy or kill everything that has remained in the area of [9] and [10] - Mission 3: Battle on the River Mekong - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Your final task is to destroy or kill everything that has remained in the area of [9] and [10]. If there are no tanks, just use the sniper to knock out the enemy infantry. If, however, there is a tank, you have to destroy it using the very soldier who snatched some rocket launchers from the box before the first attack. Act with caution and make good use of all the covers (for example, vehicle wrecks). Always attack from the opposite side to that the turret of the tank is facing - it gives you time to escape after launching a rocket into the tank. Finally, you will destroy enemy vehicle and the mission will be successful.

1 - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - map - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Officers must survive.

New objective: Radio center personnel must survive.

If you remember the chaos at the end of the previous mission, get ready for a lot more. It is a defensive mission, and your task is to repel the American forces attacking from three directions. You have several people, including the familiar characters from previous missions. There are also lots of allies, who will help you defend the base. For this reason, once more much of what will happen will be pure chance, and you just won't be able to influence certain situations. If something goes terribly wrong, you'll have no choice but to load your saved game. The mission starts between [1] and [2]. Slow down the game and send a sniper to the south (he can prove useful later on), and two men to the armored transporter in [1]. One soldier should take the toolbox lying next to the tank in [2] and the other to get in the tank. Immediately, order the soldier with a toolbox to start repairing the tank.

New objective: Repel enemy attacks from the west - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Repel enemy attacks from the west.

Place the transporter in [3], sideways the hill, so that the enemy tanks won't be able to hit you. In order to save fuel don't go to the gate, instead, reverse to [3] breaking down the fence. Leave your tank where it is - it can be of use later, right now from this position it can easily fire at enemy tanks coming from both [4] and [5]. Please remember - if the enemy destroys your APC (which is necessary to perform most of the mission because of the driving here and there), automatically load a previously saved game. As you can see, it's good to save your game often, especially if everything goes as you intended. Use the APC (hidden behind the hill) to eliminate enemy infantry, which will appear in [6]. The allied tank in [7] and the one you have, which is being repaired in [2], should deal with enemy tanks just fine. However, things here can develop in different ways, so the most important thing is to destroy the first enemy tank, or at least stop it. Meanwhile, kill as many enemy soldiers as you can.

New objective: Destroy spotters - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy spotters.

After a while you will get the abovementioned mission objective. If you don't manage to kill the enemy spotter on time, and he intends to give the coordinates for air support, there will be rain of fire. You can't let this happen, however, your APC should leave its hiding place only when, either the second tank has been destroyed by the allies (the best option), or when it's going in the direction of the base, which will allow you to shoot its side when it gets close to you (this is shown in the picture below).

An accurate round should be enough to immobilize the enemy tank in such a way as to let you safely leave towards [6] and shoot the spotter marked by the red circle and arrow (he is in [8]) - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

An accurate round should be enough to immobilize the enemy tank in such a way as to let you safely leave towards [6] and shoot the spotter marked by the red circle and arrow (he is in [8]). When the spotter starts giving the coordinates (there will be a message at the bottom of the screen), it's time to eliminate him. But remember to do it only after the tanks have been be disposed of - otherwise you'll almost certainly lose your APC. After killing the spotter back off a bit and try to knock out all enemies in the area. After a while you will get the message about the next enemy attack (this time from [5]), so don't hesitate and send your APC to [9]. Save the game.

Hide your APC behind the allied tank shown in the picture below - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Hide your APC behind the allied tank shown in the picture below. The success in the second battle will depend on whether the allied tank will be able to destroy the enemy tank. If the former is destroyed at once, load the saved game and try again. Do the same things as before - kill the enemy infantry and try to stop enemy APC from a distance, but when you notice a second spotter in [10], immediately kill him. After his death you will no longer be harassed from the air, but this doesn't mean you can relax just yet. Leave the troops fighting where they are and go to [11].

1 - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Repel enemy attacks from the south.

Even before you get this objective, you should have already placed the transporter in the right spot - in [11], and in such a way that you're able to see the place where the river can be crossed [12]. That's what a small squad of enemy soldiers will attempt to do. Wait until they all come out of hiding and open fire. Try to kill as many enemies as you can with the round and you have and keep shooting until you fire the entire clip. However, after reloading don't start shooting at those who escaped the first round...

but wait for the APC that will also attempt to cross the river in [12] - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

...but wait for the APC that will also attempt to cross the river in [12]. An accurate round should do enough damage to immobilize the vehicle so that it shouldn't manage to get to the radio center (previous squad of soldiers were also trying to get there). Next, simply kill all the soldiers, as well as those who will get out of the APC. You will complete the mission objective, but it doesn't mean that it's the end of the battle.

The Americans will be pushing from the west once more - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The Americans will be pushing from the west once more. That's why you must send your APC to [3] again and hide it from the enemy tanks. When you get there, start shooting at the enemy infantry. Also, don't let the enemy APC enter your base. Well, your allies could have already destroyed it in [6] But, if it's still there, prepare your APC to destroy the enemy vehicle. In order to do that you don't need to hide your APC behind the hill, just place it near the gate. But when you notice some enemy tanks, hide your transporter immediately.

Now, it's also the time to use air support - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Now, it's also the time to use air support. Look at the battlefields in [6] and [9] to find out where the enemy tanks that are still operational are located. Make sure you are targeting only those very tanks, not any empty tanks or wrecks.

Again, if a tank approaches [7], use the APC hidden in [3] to fire at the side of the enemy vehicle - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Again, if a tank approaches [7], use the APC hidden in [3] to fire at the side of the enemy vehicle. This should immobilize it. At this point, you can even afford to lose the transporter, as it is more important to dispose of all enemy tanks. Remember that you still have one operational tank, which should remain intact in [2]. Of course, try to eliminate as much hostile infantry as you can and don't worry about those who are currently fighting in the area of [13].

Only when there are no enemy tanks on this flank, and the enemy infantry begins to withdraw, can you send your tank to [13] to deal with the rest of the enemy tanks and infantry - Mission 4: Gatecrushers - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Only when there are no enemy tanks on this flank, and the enemy infantry begins to withdraw, can you send your tank to [13] to deal with the rest of the enemy tanks and infantry. Naturally, if your allies had already done it, sending your tank won't be necessary. Anyway, this is the end of the battle, so if you had managed to destroy all the tanks, you can breathe a sigh of relief. If you still have at least one functional vehicle, the elimination of the enemy infantry will not be a problem.

1 - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - map - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Mine the howitzers. [1/3]

You will perform most of this mission with a knife, killing enemies silently. Therefore, after each knife throw, remember to pick it up (holding the Tab key to find it might be helpful). The alarm can be raised by the enemies when their hear some shots, or if one of them shouts near another (for example, after discovering the body of a companion or one of your people). Keep this in mind when planning the next moves. You start in [1]. Immediately after the mission has started, slow down the game and use the sniper to shoot the soldier standing in [2]. The patrol in [3] will hear you, but its leader will only shoot the flare at you and then turn and go away with two other soldiers. Then, crawl quickly to [4] and save the game (you can of course already speed it).

Select one of your men and place him in a short entrance to the trench [4] - in a way shown in the picture below - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Select one of your men and place him in a short entrance to the trench [4] - in a way shown in the picture below. Your task is to quietly kill two guards patrolling that part of the trenches. You can speed up the game, so they will come there quicker, but you must save it and slow it down before the first gets close to you. When he turns, start to crawl behind him and throw the knife at him - but only when he's just by the right bend of the trench (you can see his body in the picture below). Instantly, go back to [4], and this time, throw a knife at the second guard as soon as you can. With a bit of luck you will eliminate both enemies without making any noise.

Another silent murders are waiting in [5] - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Another silent murders are waiting in [5]. Order two soldiers to sneak up there and get their knives ready (as a default weapon). Place your men just like it's shown in the picture below, slow down the game and save it. Choose the first soldier, issue the command of throwing a knife in one of the two hostile guards and quickly select the second soldier, then throw a knife at another guard. You should be able to do this the first time round. After you've killed both guards, sneak up to [6]. There is a first howitzer here. Hold down the X key and click LMB on the howitzer. When one of your men reaches it, an "inventory" of the howitzer will open. Put a red explosive charge inside it.

New objective: Eliminate radio operators, so they can't call in helicopter support - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate radio operators, so they can't call in helicopter support.

This time, place both of your men in the entrance to the trench in [7]. They must wait for two guards, who will come from inside the base. Again, the second guard will be following the first at some distance. In addition, you will have to directly (holding down the Ctrl key and using arrow keys) position your men, because the trenches are too small to issue appropriate and exact orders (i.e. orders of a simple move, and not orders of hiding behind cover). When the first guard goes past your men by, order one of them to start crawling behind the enemy and throw a knife at him exactly the moment he approaches a fork in the trench. Select another soldier and wait for the next guard. Don't kill him at once (his death will be noticed by the opponent standing in [8]), do it right in the middle of the oblique passage in the trench. The beginning of the operation is shown in the first image below, and the second one shows how it ends. Remember to collect knives!

1 - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and WalkthroughYou will have no problem with sneaking past the guard in [8] (preferably from the outside of the base) and killing him silently with a knife - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You will have no problem with sneaking past the guard in [8] (preferably from the outside of the base) and killing him silently with a knife. Next, go to [9] and crawl under the tent with radio operators (use the rear entrance). They are so busy working that they won't even notice you enter between them. Slow down the game and start throwing knives at both operators, as well as at a soldier standing in front of the tent, if he turns around. You can kill him first, if you like. After eliminating the operators pick up the knives. Your first objective is out of the way.

New objective: Mine the howitzers - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Mine the howitzers. [2/3]

Do you remember how you simultaneously killed two soldiers with knives? In [10] it will happen once more. There are two guards having a rest here. Try to make them rest in peace by sneaking from the side. After eliminating the guards, put the second explosive charge in the howitzer nearby.

2 - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 1 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Mine the howitzers. [3/3]

A third howitzer is in [12], but before you reach it, silently kill a guard in [11] and after that, throw a knife at the second guard in [12] standing next to the third howitzer (he can be seen in the picture below). Put the explosive charge in the howitzer. You'll execute the next to last objective of this mission. Additionally, clear some parts of the base of enemy soldiers and vehicles, which will help your allies perform the attack. Start by quietly finishing off three guards - in [13], [14] and [15] (watch out for the guards patrolling the trenches and the tank in [16] - don't go into his field of view!).

New objective: Eliminate engineer officers - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate engineer officers.

It's time for the enemies in the trenches. Make sure one of your men has at least two knives (if he doesn't, give him a knife that belongs to somebody else in your team). Order him to lie down at the entrance to the trench in [17] in a way shown in the picture below. Your soldier should wait for the first and then the second guard patiently - just as the latter comes into the range of throw, kill him with a knife. Immediately, choose the second knife as the main weapon and run to the first guard, who will start moving away. You have to kill him before he turns left - you can slow down the game to make this task easier.

Collect all the knives and eliminate two guards standing in [18] and [19] - do it before the next pair of patrolling enemies comes here - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Collect all the knives and eliminate two guards standing in [18] and [19] - do it before the next pair of patrolling enemies comes here. Hide in [19], exactly in the same spot where the guard was standing previously. Select another soldier from your squad and place him in [20]. Look at the one in [19] and wait until the abovementioned pair comes to the place. Let the first guard leave, wait for a while, and when the second starts going away, sneak past him and kill him with a knife. Save your game.

Select a second soldier from [20] and place him exactly in the position, which is shown in the picture below - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Select a second soldier from [20] and place him exactly in the position, which is shown in the picture below. Wait for the first guard who will come from [19] to [20]. He will stop and wait for a moment, then start to come back - immediately slow your game, lean out and throw a knife at him. No one should hear anything. Take two knives and quietly kill the guards standing in [21] and [22]. You won't have any trouble with them.

Now, there's quite a challenge ahead - killing four guards standing in [23] simultaneously - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Now, there's quite a challenge ahead - killing four guards standing in [23] simultaneously. To be more effective, group your men using Shift key and the numbers from 1 to 4, which will allow you to act more quickly. Order them to lie down in positions shown in the picture below. Select a knife as the main weapon for everyone (also, make sure each of your men has at least one). Slow down the game and remember to keep your mouse cursor on targets, or (after you've given the order to throw a knife) in the vicinity of another target. This way, your soldiers will not lose time on aiming. One opponent stands on the left, the other three are on the right. Before the entire operation, of course, save the game, and be careful when taking the aforementioned positions - enemies who are about to be killed by you mustn't see you.

A similar task awaits you in [24] and [25], except that here two pairs of soldiers are at a distance from each other - the first is near the boxes and the second near the tank - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

A similar task awaits you in [24] and [25], except that here two pairs of soldiers are at a distance from each other - the first is near the boxes and the second near the tank. Place your men in a way shown in the picture below, save your game, slow it down and perform the simultaneous killing of the four enemy soldiers using hotkeys. Make sure enemies will not manage to scream - it is usually the equivalent of raising the alarm, but not always. Also, to hit two enemies at the same time, place one of your men closer and another further from each pair of enemies. Let the one who's further throw first and immediately after that order the one who's closer to also throw a knife at the second enemy. In this way, the two knives should reach targets simultaneously.

Another pair, which is going to be killed this way, is standing by a tank in [26] - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Another pair, which is going to be killed this way, is standing by a tank in [26]. Here, however, you must watch out for the tank in [25], as its field of view is directed towards the opponents that you must kill. Yet, you can crawl near the enemies without alerting the tank and both of the enemies (look at picture below). Again, place one of your men closer and another further from the pair of enemies and see to it that their knives hit the targets at the same time.

There will be no difficulty in eliminating the next four opponents in [27] and [28] - the first is on the watchtower - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

There will be no difficulty in eliminating the next four opponents in [27] and [28] - the first is on the watchtower. You must save the game before throwing a knife at him in case you miss. What's more, you'll lose this knife. However, you'll no longer need it, because you have three knives left. Another two enemies are in the trenches and the last one is standing near the gate. Get back into the base and crawl close to the junk next to the tanks [29]. Then, when the time is right, go behind the rocks [30] - when one of the two patrolling guards goes away. You need to hurry, because another one will come here shortly.

Hide two men with knives in the position shown in the picture below - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Hide two men with knives in the position shown in the picture below. Wait for one of the guards until he comes out from behind a rock and throw a knife at him. Choose another soldier and order him to lie down just in front of the entrance to the trench next to the rocks. Wait for another guard and throw a knife at him as well. You should kill him before he notices you, even though he's already facing you.

Pick up the knives and use them to eliminate a few more enemies - the first, standing by the building next to the rocks, the second on the watchtower in [31] (you will lose a second knife), and then two sleeping on the junk in [32] and [33] - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Pick up the knives and use them to eliminate a few more enemies - the first, standing by the building next to the rocks, the second on the watchtower in [31] (you will lose a second knife), and then two sleeping on the junk in [32] and [33]. But watch out for enemies patrolling the trenches and make sure that sleeping enemies won't notice you when you start crawling towards them. Save your game and have two men with knives stand in front of the officers' tent in [34]. Kill the two officers simultaneously (in a way you eliminated pairs of enemies before) to complete another mission objective. However, don't alarm the enemies, because there is still one thing left to do.

New objective: Destroy the howitzers - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the howitzers.

Before you execute this new mission objective, first go to [35] and search the boxes. You'll find some explosives there. Give one charge to each of your three men and save your game. Place each of your men a few yards from the back of each of the enemy tanks in [26], [25] and [16]. In this order and having your game slowed down, place an explosive charge under the back of each of the three tanks. Having placed the explosive charge, each of your men will automatically go away. Select all of your soldiers and group them in one place (watch out for explosions). Then, destroy the howitzers using the button in the lower right corner of the screen (above the command icons) and finally... run away as soon as possible to [36]!

New objective: Help capture the base, avoiding heavy casualties among allies - Mission 5: Happy Tet Day - p. 2 - North Vietnamese - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Help capture the base, avoiding heavy casualties among allies.

New objective: Do not lose the helicopter.

Order your men to lie down in [36] and simply speed up the game. Wait until the allied troops break through the enemy defences. You have depleted the enemy forces and destroyed all vehicles, so you don't have to worry about the allies. But try to keep moving and staying right behind them and finally, when the area around the helicopter is clear, place your men in [37]. Order them to lie down and change the mode of firing to "Fire at will". Now, you just have to wait until the officers and pilots run out of the building (you are lying next to it). They'll want to get into the helicopter and escape, but you can't let this happen. Wait patiently and save your game often, to avoid missing the crucial moment. After killing the commanders and pilots, the last mission in this campaign and the campaign itself will be completed.

1 - Mission 1: What A Job! - map - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Recon the area.

New objective: Check the group of peasants.

It is going to be quite a long mission. You start in [1] with the task of examining a group of villagers in [2]. The inconspicuous-looking civilians are armed with automatic weapons and grenades, and will attack you as soon as you approach. So before you do it, divide your eight men into two groups and place them behind the rocks in [3] and [4] (shown in the picture below). Select one of your men and slowly start coming near the villagers, but once you hear the message that they have a weapon, immediately go back to the rest of the group. Most enemies will be killed by your men, others will hide - eliminate them from a distance using the sniper. You will receive a new mission objective and the map will enlarge.

New objective: Eliminate the Vietcongs by the crossing - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate the Vietcongs by the crossing.

Order your men to cease fire and to run up the hill on the right. Then, have them lie down behind some bushes in [5]. Change the firing mode to "Fire at will". Your soldiers will quickly eliminate the two guards patrolling in [6], and also a lot of enemies from the group in the vicinity of [7]. You shouldn't suffer any losses in men. It is also worth mentioning that there are traps set in the woods in [7], so you'd better not go there.

All other opponents can be killed without a problem by the sniper - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

All other opponents can be killed without a problem by the sniper. Some will be standing still and others will try to hide, so look for the red dots on your map. To knock enemies on this side of the river you don't even have to move from [5]. Once they are dead, move your men near the huts and shoot the rest of the enemies on the other side of the river [8]. Before you move on, search the bodies of enemies and pick up first aid kits and ammo for the sniper rifle. Again, change the firing mode to "Hold fire".

New objective: Mop up the old French bunkers - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Mop up the old French bunkers.

Your next task is to clear two bunkers in [9] and [10]. Have all your people get down, lie prone and begin to crawl to [11]. Crawl between the boulder and the hill to the right of the bunker in [9] (look at the picture below). Enemy soldiers inside won't see your men.

Crawl behind the bunker and divide your men - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Crawl behind the bunker and divide your men. Place two next to the bunker window (they should stand sideways the opponent with a heavy gun in the bunker). Then, place four soldiers behind the stone, behind which there's a group of six enemy soldiers in [12]. Leave the rest (including the sniper) in the bushes.

Throw a grenade into the group of enemies and quickly hide behind the boulder - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Throw a grenade into the group of enemies and quickly hide behind the boulder. Wait for a while until the surviving enemies run into the bunker, and then throw a grenade inside (use one of the two men you told to stand by the bunker, you can see them in the picture below). Wait until the shooting stops. The enemy soldiers will take their positions and will remain in them. If some enemies are standing near the bunker or intend to run up the boulder, eliminate them without leaving your hiding place.

Save your game, and in both cases: if some enemies are standing still in the vestibule of the bunker, or there are no enemies, select one of the men and take control of him (use the Insert key, as in this case it's more convenient than holding the Ctrl) - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Save your game, and in both cases: if some enemies are standing still in the vestibule of the bunker, or there are no enemies, select one of the men and take control of him (use the Insert key, as in this case it's more convenient than holding the Ctrl). Using the arrow keys quickly run into the bunker in [9], avoiding the enemy shots and shoot enemies in the vestibule. If there aren't any, stop right away and head toward the entrance. Thus, you will make sure that no other opponent can run into the bunker.

It's time for the sniper - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

It's time for the sniper. Order him to lie down to the right of the rock and save your game. Aim at the enemies standing in the second bunker in [10] and start killing them one by one. Be careful, however, because the enemy will shoot you with a heavy rifle. One accurate hit means your sniper is dead. so after 2-3 successful kills hide behind a rock, save the game and wait until the fire stops. To get rid of the soldier who operates the heavy machinegun move the sniper to the spot visible in the picture below, on the edge of the hill.

From here you should be able to hit the soldier, who operates the heavy machinegun in [10] (he can be seen in the picture below) - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

From here you should be able to hit the soldier, who operates the heavy machinegun in [10] (he can be seen in the picture below). From the other position your projectile would hit the heavy machinegun instead of the soldier. Don't let the next soldier shoot at you - kill him before he starts to operate the heavy machinegun and, just in case, save the game before the whole operation. The task will be much easier if the enemies don't have access to the heavy machinegun. Kill those who are on the hill on your side of the road with a grenade, and the rest - next to the bunker in [10] - with the sniper. Finally, use a grenade to clear the vestibule of the bunker in [10]. You can also run into the building, and kill them by controlling your soldier directly. Still, we'd advise you to save the game before doing anything.

New objective: Set an ambush by the bridge and eliminate the hostiles - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Set an ambush by the bridge and eliminate the hostiles.

In a moment a truck full of soldiers will arrive here, and immediately after that a large group of infantry will attack. Place all your men in the bunker in [10] and select the soldier holding M-79 grenade launcher (Carl Dillan). Place him near the bridge in [13] and save the game (of course, change his main weapon to the grenade launcher). As soon as you see the truck pass by, aim and shoot at it. Aim at the front of the vehicle and under it. An accurate shot should destroy the truck together with all the opponents. It might happen, however, that the grenade will smash against the vehicle bodywork, and thus, won't destroy the vehicle itself. In this case, load a saved game and after getting rid of the truck, run to your colleagues in the bunker in [10].

Position everyone in a way shown in the image below, as close to the wall with an entrance as you can, even one after another - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Position everyone in a way shown in the image below, as close to the wall with an entrance as you can, even one after another. This will help avoid the risk that those standing farthest from the wall are hit through the entrance. Take full control of the soldier with a heavy machinegun (Do Ngok Hung) and place him by the entrance. Save the game and simply wait for enemies. Kill the enemies right on the threshold, and if one of them gets through, your companions should finish him off (make sure they you've selected the "Fire at will" as the firing mode). After the first wave of enemies, you'll have to wait, because opponents will be less and less willing to run into the bunker. When there are only a few left, speed up the game. They will just come to the bunker one by one and die. The rest will withdraw to the river. Kill them with your sniper. Eventually, you will get new mission objectives.

1 - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate hostiles in the first village without taking any collateral damage.

New objective: Find and destroy any weapon caches in the village.

The difficulty of the next task is that you can accidentally kill innocent civilians, and thus, not get the achievement that's associated with avoiding the civilian casualties. Yet, some civilians, instead of running away, will draw their weapons and automatically become your enemies. These, of course, are no longer civilians, so you can kill them. But still, it's better not to "create" any new opponents because we have a sniper at our disposal. Place him behind the stone in [14] exactly in the same way as it can be seen in the picture below. From here, you won't have any problem with killing three enemies behind the fence in [15] (aim at their heads, over the fence), as well as several in the area of [16] who will run out to see what is going on. Try to kill the second group as soon as possible, because after a while the enemies will start returning to their previous positions.

The reason why it's better not to involve the whole group of your men will become clear in a moment - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The reason why it's better not to involve the whole group of your men will become clear in a moment. Some bullets, including sniper rifles, pierce the walls of huts and some fences, which means you could accidentally kill civilians in the buildings. But it works both ways, and in this way, you can also the opponents. But, in order to be able to see enemies in all buildings, at least one of your men must get "inside" on of them (then, the roofs will "disappear"). So, send any of your men to one of the bunkers and leave him there until the end of the mission. After that, remove an opponent in a hut in [17] and others in the area (if there are any) by using the sniper. You can try to lure them with shooting, but if no one is running towards you, leave the current position. Move in such as way as to be able to take out a solitary enemy in the middle of a village in [18].

Continue finding and eliminating enemies - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Continue finding and eliminating enemies. Move the sniper to [19], and once he's there, kill three opponents. Two of them are in the huts in [20] (kill the first by shooting through the window, the second through the wall - it's shown in the picture below). The third is standing under a tree in [21]. However, after hearing the shots, the last one might hide, so follow his movements and use the map to locate him. Look for other enemies in the area of [17] and kill (again by shooting through the walls) as many as possible. Then, encircle the village and go to [22].

In [23] there's the first weapon cache, but first, you have to take care of four enemy soldiers in [24] - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

In [23] there's the first weapon cache, but first, you have to take care of four enemy soldiers in [24]. Killing two who are standing outdoors will be easy, just choose a proper shooting position. Kill the third enemy soldier who's in the hut by shooting through the wall. To eliminate the fourth, lure him with a few shots, let him run away and hide behind the fence. Then, kill him by shooting through the fence. Watch out for civilians, at least one of them has a gun so don't forget to kill him once he reveals himself. Search the weapon cache in [23], take the ammo for the sniper, then walk away and throw a grenade at the pile of boxes. Keep a safe distance!

Place the sniper in the area of [25], in such a way as to be able to kill two enemies by the barrels in [26] - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Place the sniper in the area of [25], in such a way as to be able to kill two enemies by the barrels in [26]. Save your game and take their place. Lean out, kill the first of the two soldiers in [27] and run away. When the enemies have finished searching, strike again and kill the other. Then, hide your sniper near the wall of the hut in [26], from where you should mange to hit three enemies in [28] - kill them one by one. Get back on the road and stand at the crossroads in [29], move near the fence, so the heavy machinegun in [31] won't be able to hit you. From this position end the lives of two opponents in [30] - the one standing next to the fence and another in the hut (there are visible in the picture below, the first is dead). Finally, throw a grenade in the heavy machinegun crew in [31]. The explosion will kill two soldiers and the rest should escape. If it doesn't happen, keep killing them until they retreat. After that, the civilians will no longer be a threat and you can destroy the second weapon cache. It's located in one of the huts in [20]. Destroy it with an explosive charge or a grenade and go to the second village.

New objective: The Vietnamese officer should not leave the village - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: The Vietnamese officer should not leave the village.

After a while, you'll get this mission objective and six minutes to execute it. It's almost too much time, as it's enough to place the sniper in [32] and, using the break in the fence, to shoot the general standing in [33] (he's distinguished from the others - he actually has a name, and he can be seen in the picture below). If you can reach your target, move the sniper a few feet to the left or right, in the end, you should be able to kill the general. After completing this task, quickly hide the sniper behind a boulder in [34] and wait until the enemy soldiers take new positions. From behind a boulder you can remove the three guards standing at the other side of the lake in [35] with no trouble.

New objective: Eliminate the Vietcongs in the second village - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate the Vietcongs in the second village.

Now, you have to set an ambush for the convoy, which will soon depart. Place all your men behind a boulder in [36], change their firing mode to "Fire at will", while in [37] place the soldier with a grenade launcher (Carl Dillan) and patiently wait for the convoy (you can speed up the game). As soon as the trucks begins to leave the village and approach the trap, save the game. Your task is to destroy as many trucks as you can with one shot, especially the first and the last one, since they are loaded with enemy soldiers. After the explosion of the first truck, save your game and try to take out the rest of vehicles. Your colleagues in [36] should support you with fire and kill those enemies who managed to get out the trucks before the explosions. Search for survivors and finish them off using the wrecks as covers.

Look at the map in this guide - virtually all the enemies to the right of the border formed by [38] and [39] will not move from their positions, even if they notice the deaths of their comrades - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Look at the map in this guide - virtually all the enemies to the right of the border formed by [38] and [39] will not move from their positions, even if they notice the deaths of their comrades. That's why, killing them will be as easy as pie. Place the sniper in the area of [40] and try to remove the first three enemies at the fork, standing in [38]. Then, take care of the rest, changing the position of the sniper if you can't kill anyone from the current location. If some enemies run to the forest looking for your sniper, retreat and wait (you can speed up the game), until they return to their previous positions. Unfortunately, if you try to kill any other enemies, you will be raked with a heavy machinegun fire in [41], which can result in a rapid death of the sniper.

But, he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword - Mission 1: What A Job! - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

But, he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword. After the area around the enemy helicopter has been cleared, send two men to the heavy machinegun in [31] and fold it (click on the appropriate icon in the actions panel in the lower right corner of the screen), and then bring it behind the fence in [42]. They opponents can't see you, but you see them, so you can shoot blindly, because the heavy machinegun ammunition will penetrate walls, wooden fences and huts. Start by killing those enemies who operate a heavy machinegun in [41] and watch out for the opponents who will try to come at you. You can even use the rest of your soldiers to protect your heavy machinegun. Well, it doesn't have unlimited ammo, but it should be enough to kill most of the enemies. The rest will run away, and you'll finish the mission successfully.

1 - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - map - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the enemy convoy before it reaches the base.

You start in [1]. Your first task will be one of the hardest in the game. You need to set a trap for an enemy convoy, which will appear on the map after a minute. Do not be influenced by your soldiers' advice, because at the highest level of difficulty their ways of dealing with the enemy will not work. Select two of your soldiers, including one with a heavy machinegun (John Walsh), and send them to [2]. Place three others soldiers at equal distances in [3], just off the road, in a way shown in the picture below. The soldier with the M-79 grenade launcher (Carl Dillan) should stand on the left. Select a grenade launcher as his main weapon and grenades for the rest of your men. Speed ??up the game and wait for the convoy. A jeep and two ordinary trucks should bypass your soldiers. Only when the third truck, loaded with soldiers, appears on the map, slow down the game and save it.

Prepare yourself for one of the hardest operations in the game - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Prepare yourself for one of the hardest operations in the game. Select a soldier standing on the right and throw a grenade some 2-3 meters before the first truck loaded with soldiers. Instantly, select the middle one and throw a grenade in front of the second truck - a bit closer than before (you can save your game again). Finally, select the soldier with a grenade launcher and choose the right moment to shoot at the last truck. Remember that when this happens, all trucks will stop, so start shooting only when the backs of the first two trucks are on the grenades thrown at the road. Also, you must destroy the last truck with one shot from the grenade launcher. If it doesn't happen, load the game and try again.

After the explosion, select all your soldiers here and tell them to quickly hide behind the boulder in [3] - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After the explosion, select all your soldiers here and tell them to quickly hide behind the boulder in [3]. If all had been done well (save your game!), the third truck would have been destroyed, and the grenades should have exploded right under the soldiers who were getting out of the other two trucks, killing the majority of them. The hard part is over, but it's not the end of the operation.

Make sure that your three soldiers are running to the boulder in [3] and quickly select the two remaining soldiers in [2] - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Make sure that your three soldiers are running to the boulder in [3] and quickly select the two remaining soldiers in [2]. Unlike all other vehicles, the first one - a jeep - won't stop, so select the soldier with a heavy machinegun and fire at the jeep. Shoot until you kill the two enemies inside and if you don't succeed, load the saved game and try again.

After destroying the jeep or getting rid of its drivers you must kill all other enemies to complete the first mission objective - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After destroying the jeep or getting rid of its drivers you must kill all other enemies to complete the first mission objective. Your opponents are confused and most of them will shoot to the rest of your men, safely hidden behind a boulder in [3]. Take advantage of this. Crawl in the right place, from where you can reach all enemies. They will start hiding behind the vehicles after a while. Keep shooting at the enemies until they begin to retreat, and when this occurs, the hardest part of this mission will be accomplished. Now, speed up the game to the normal pace.

1 - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Mine the fuel, weaponry and supply depots.

Place all your men in [4]. You'll perform the next part of the mission using only the one armed with a silenced rifle (John Merrill). Hide him in the bushes in [5] and wait until the first enemy soldier stands next to yours. Kill the opponent and move on to the bushes in [6], take out the next enemy soldier and then another one, who will also come here. In this and the following situations, it is often better to speed up the game in order to shorten the time needed for the next enemies to come. Be sure to kill them before they discover the bodies of their comrades. If they do, they will raise the alarm, and then your mission will become virtually impossible to complete.

You must also watch out for the mines deployed in various places in this area, so after each successful assassination save your game just in case - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You must also watch out for the mines deployed in various places in this area, so after each successful assassination save your game just in case. Crawl to [7] and lay down there. Wait until one of the guards patrolling the area near the lake stops at [8] and kill him (aim at the head). Wait patiently for the next, who will stop in [9] and try to shoot a flare to raise the alarm. Kill him before he kills you. Now, you face a fairly simple but time-consuming task - you have to wait with patience for the next six guards who will come to this place. Speed up and slow down the game, and kill anyone who comes to [8] or [9]. This is an easy way to knock out most enemies patrolling this place.

Order the rest of your men to swim through the lake (at least, there are no mines there) to the other side - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Order the rest of your men to swim through the lake (at least, there are no mines there) to the other side. Select Bill Kirby and crawl near the fence surrounding the supply depot of [10]. Wait for the right moment (when the guard who's on patrol around the building goes away) and crawl behind a large crate (look at the picture below). Choose the silenced pistol as the main weapon and wait patiently until the abovementioned guard approaches. Shoot him once or twice and when he dies, put the C-4 explosive charge in one of the crates. The first of the three objects has been mined, so we can move on.

Select John Merrill again and crawl to [11] - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Select John Merrill again and crawl to [11]. Hide your soldier in the bushes and wait for the guard who will come here. Instead of a silenced pistol you can use a knife here to be hundred percent sure that no one can hear you (remember, unless you kill an enemy with one shot, he will yell and lure his mates, so the knife is more reliable). There is another enemy soldier here, sleeping. Kill him with a knife and remember to pick it up afterwards.

Find the one that is patrolling the courtyard and around fuel tanks - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Find the one that is patrolling the courtyard and around fuel tanks. Once he comes out from between the tanks in [12], crawl there and wait for him. When he comes back and stops for a moment - kill him. Another opponent is sleeping here, so you should get rid of him as well. In addition to two large fuel tanks there is a barrel on the right - order Bill Kirby to put C-4 explosive charge in it, so that the second of the objects will be mined.

Before you set off to mine the third, you will need to eliminate two enemies patrolling the forest behind the weapon depot - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Before you set off to mine the third, you will need to eliminate two enemies patrolling the forest behind the weapon depot. Crawl to [13] and hide in the bushes. Two soldiers will be walking this path, fortunately not at the same time. Kill the first, when he bypasses you and the second before he reaches you. This way, the second won't notice the body of the first one.

1 - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Replenish explosives at the depot.

Then crawl to the vicinity of [14] and get your knife ready. When the guard wandering around the weapon depot stops in [15], throw a knife at him (in the picture below you can see his body and the place your soldier should be during the throw). Save the game before the throw in case you miss. What's more, you have to do it when neither of the two guards on patrol around the officer's hut [16] is watching. Don't worry about the body - they won't notice it provided they didn't see the moment of their colleague's death. The picture also shows a lot of TNT charges lying on the other side of the weapon depot (hold Tab to see them). Take seven charges and put one of them in one of the boxes around the depot. You will mine the third object and execute another mission objective connected with getting new explosives.

New objective: Find documents in the officer's hut - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Find documents in the officer's hut.

The officer's hut is in [16] and two enemy soldiers are on patrol around it. So far you must have noticed that the night favors your actions by limiting your opponents' field of view, which means you don't necessarily need to kill those two soldiers. Just choose the right moment to run across the courtyard and quickly run into the officer's hut. Press Tab to highlight items, including the bag with the documents. Take it and immediately throw it away, you don't need to take the bag with you. The objective will be completed. Save the game and when no one is looking, come back to the vicinity of the weapon depot.

New objective: Demolish the tanks - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Demolish the tanks.

Go to [13], then to [17] and from there to [18]. Order your soldier to lie down near the fence surrounding the tanks (look at picture below). From this position you'll be able to easily kill two patrolling soldiers with a silenced pistol. They will stop in the exactly same spot - between the fence and the tank (not at once, of course,). Kill the first, speed up the game and wait for the second one. Slow down the game, when you notice the second guard approaching (he shouldn't see his colleague's body) and also kill him when the moment is right.

One guard, the last who you need to get rid of in this mission, is still patrolling this place - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

One guard, the last who you need to get rid of in this mission, is still patrolling this place. Jump across the fence and get down, then crawl behind a tank in [19]. Here, wait for the enemy and kill him with an accurate shot when he stops (look at picture below). Then simply mine all six tanks (press X and click LMB on each tank to open its "inventory" and put an explosive charge in it).

New objective: Demolish the fuel depot - Mission 2: Bon Voyage to Cambodia - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Demolish the fuel depot.

New objective: Demolish the weaponry depot.

New objective: Demolish the supply depot.

New objective: Reach the evacuation point.

The next part of the mission is trivial. Go back to the rest of your comrades (watch out for mines on your way) and group them in front of a lake in [9]. Swim to the other side to [4], then run past these points: [1], [2], [20] and [21]. When you get to the last one, click four buttons at the bottom right corner of the screen. This will detonate all charges placed in the base. You will complete all the mission objectives and get the last one, which will also be completed at once as you've already reached the evacuation point.

1 - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - map - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Capture the roadblock.

This mission, like no other, is going to teach you the meaning of risk. A lot of your actions may end in failure, but on the other hand, they are often the only possible solutions to some problems. In the beginning you must act very quickly. Immediately save your game, slow it down and issue a few commands. Send the sniper (Sonny Armstrong) to [2], the next soldier (Carl Dillan) to [3] and the one with a silenced pistol (John Merrill) should go through [4] to [5] (hold down the Shift key while issuing the move orders, so your soldier will go to the first given spot, then the next, etc.). Finally, order the soldier with a heavy machinegun (Jim Walsh) to go to [6]. You have to kill three enemies almost simultaneously. Hide your sniper in the bushes in [2] and throw a knife at a guard who should stop there. Don't hesitate, because in a moment he'll turn around and start going back.

At the same time, select the soldier who is on his way to [3], and when he is near the enemy on the hill, order him to get down and crawl into the bushes you can see in the picture below (right next to the tree) - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

At the same time, select the soldier who is on his way to [3], and when he is near the enemy on the hill, order him to get down and crawl into the bushes you can see in the picture below (right next to the tree). You should be able to take out your knife and throw it at the enemy guard (who will stop on the top of the hill) on time. Leave your soldier here and turn your attention to [5].

The soldier with a silenced pistol should be close to [5], unfortunately his target will have started going towards the roadblock by now - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The soldier with a silenced pistol should be close to [5], unfortunately his target will have started going towards the roadblock by now. That's why, without wasting time (every second counts) kill the enemy soldier as soon as you can. Run through the bushes, so that he doesn't see you. The enemies at the roadblock shouldn't hear anything if you kill him early enough. Of course, if for some reason they had been alarmed (because one of them saw something) load your saved game and try again. In other case, it's essential you save the game and speed it up to normal pace.

Another difficult task is waiting for Jim Walsh in [6] - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Another difficult task is waiting for Jim Walsh in [6]. You must crawl round the hill and turn immediately. This will allow you to hide behind the hut where the enemy soldiers are stationed. Unfortunately, some of the enemies, who are standing on the road, might notice your crawling soldier. Thus, try to stay behind the bushes and trees when crawling. It's a difficult task, but not impossible to perform. If you had managed to crawl behind the hut in [7], stand up and save your game.

Slow down the game, then take out the heavy machinegun and shoot - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Slow down the game, then take out the heavy machinegun and shoot. Enemies should start to come running behind the hut, which means they will be very easy targets for your soldier - just try to keep up the pace. After killing several of them, save the game just in case and wait for the next opponents. The only problem could be enemies' grenades. If someone does throw a grenade, try crawling away (very risky) or just load the saved game and try again. You can also throw some grenades (above the hut) too, but be careful, because some might hit the roof and fall on your side. Wait for the next enemies, but if no one's coming and there's only one minute left for the convoy to arrive...

then select the sniper in [2] and hide him behind the wreck of the jeep - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

...then select the sniper in [2] and hide him behind the wreck of the jeep. Start shooting at the enemies who haven't rushed to die at the hands of Jim Walsh standing behind the hut. First, kill the soldier who operates the heavy machinegun, and then take out the rest one by one. If you had kept the pace, you should be able to capture the roadblock on time. Yet, don't delay and immediately hide all your men behind the sandbags in [8]. Order one of them to capture the heavy machinegun.

New objective: Destroy the truck convoy incoming from the south - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the truck convoy incoming from the south.

Point them all in the direction of [9] and attack the first convoy vehicle (a bullet-proof APC full of enemy soldiers) when it reaches [9]. Your opponent will stop there, giving you the opportunity to kill all enemy soldiers from a safe distance. If some of those who are on the ground don't want to get up, eliminate them using the sniper.

New objective: Rescue the downed Phantom pilot - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Rescue the downed Phantom pilot.

This unexpected pilot rescue is very easy. Choose one of your men and just run along the edge of the map to [10], where you can find the pilot of the crashed plane. Then quickly go back with him to the rest of your soldiers. Do it before the enemies who appeared in the vicinity of [11] surround you. Warning! Be sure to search two chests with a red mark next to the heavy machinegun in [8]. There is plenty of valuable ammunition for heavy machineguns and it will be necessary later. Use all your men and take as much as you can.

1 - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the first air defense battery.

Before you can take care of the first air defense battery you should take all other groups of enemies out. The first is located in the vicinity of the truck in [12]. Enemies will try to flee using this truck, so select one of your soldiers and crawl near it. Then, get inside and just drive away as quickly as you can to the roadblock in [8]. There are five enemy soldiers in [12]. Some of them will run to the roadblock. Use a heavy machinegun to eliminate them and use the sniper to kill the rest. You may have some problems with finishing them off, as the area is very overgrown.

Go past the hill with the air defense battery - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Go past the hill with the air defense battery. Your next task is to clean the forest from the patrolling soldiers (the same who were sent to look for the pilot). Four of them are standing in [10] and the rest is patrolling the vicinity of [13], [14] and [15]. Hide three of your men behind the boulder in [16] because their fire could prove useful. Select your sniper and start to eliminate individual enemies wandering around the area. Most of them have the same patrol route and they will occasionally come out from [13] so you can just wait for them. However, you could have some problems with aiming because they will be in constant motion. If you miss, simply try again and don't stay in the same place for too long. Save your game after each successful kill. Next, take four soldiers in [10] out (you can see them in the picture below) but be careful. Place your sniper in an appropriate position, kill two of them and then quickly run away. Save your game. Wait for the rest to stop shooting and then come back. You will have to choose a different spot, from which you can aim at these enemies. Kill them both and save your game.

A dangerous task is awaiting your sniper - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

A dangerous task is awaiting your sniper. The only way to the hill is heavily guarded by the heavy machinegun and four soldiers in [17] and two in [18]. Your task is to hide in any of the following locations - [19], [20] or [21], depending on whom you are aiming at - and then to aim at one of the soldiers, kill him and then immediately run away or hide behind a tree. Unfortunately, just one heavy machinegun shot is able to eliminate your sniper and that's why this task is so difficult. First, take out two soldiers in [18] while aiming from [19] or [20]. Then, eliminate three of the four standing next to the heavy machinegun in [17] (aim from [20] or [21]). Save your game after each successful kill and escape. If you get killed every time while shooting from one spot then try changing it. Sometimes moving a few meters left or right can change the situation dramatically. Also, look out for a solitary soldier who may arrive on the map after a few enemies have been killed in a way presented in this paragraph.

It's a shame that from this distance you aren't able to kill the last two enemies in [17] (including the one who operates the heavy machinegun) - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

It's a shame that from this distance you aren't able to kill the last two enemies in [17] (including the one who operates the heavy machinegun). Such an attempt would almost certainly end in your sniper's death. Luckily, there is another way. Select one of your men and crawl through [22] to the vicinity of the sandbags. You can't let the two enemies see you, so check their field of view (look at the picture below). Save the game and throw a knife at the one who isn't the heavy machinegun operator. Crawl through the bushes and around the sandbags to sneak behind the last soldier here and kill him with a knife or machete. If you don't have one you will need to find it first, of course.

Crawl from the hill and get back to the rest of your soldiers - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Crawl from the hill and get back to the rest of your soldiers. After you've taken care of the heavy machinegun, getting rid of the rest of the enemies will be much easier. Hide your sniper in [21] and start killing the soldiers standing next to the air defense battery [23] one by one. You must aim at their heads, as the angle from which you are aiming doesn't allow you to hit any other part of the opponents' bodies. After each shot most of them will crouch, thus you must wait for them to stand up again. Speed up the game to make it quicker. Enemies won't move from their positions making this task very easy. Yet, you won't be able to hit the last two enemies in [23] from the lower ground.

One is standing in [24] near the hill descent and the other is exactly in [23] - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

One is standing in [24] near the hill descent and the other is exactly in [23]. You won't have any problem killing the first (use the knife), but the second is looking exactly in the direction of [17] so you will have to encircle the whole hill to sneak behind him (hide in the bushes and behind trees). After a long struggle the hill will finally be clean. Gather all your men here and just do the same thing you did with the tanks in the previous mission. Mine all four anti-aircraft cannons using the C-4 explosive charges. Move away from the cannons and detonate the charges. Additionally, send two soldiers to the heavy machinegun in [17] and pick it up. The map will enlarge and you'll receive new mission objectives.

New objective: Destroy the third air defense battery - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the third air defense battery.

Leave the second air defense battery for later - we'll deal with the third first. Group your men together in the vicinity of [25] and take out a solitary soldier patrolling the road in [26]. Then, move all your men there along with the heavy machinegun. Place it on the road, save the game and send your sniper to [27]. Hide him below the hill so the enemies above won't be able to hit him. Try climbing as high as possible, and from this location start aiming at [28]. Here, you have to kill two patrolling soldiers. One is bound to stop which will make him an easy target. The second will be going further so hitting him will be more difficult but not impossible. After killing either of them run away as soon as possible to the rest of your comrades in [26] because the enemies in [29] and [30] will start shooting and throwing grenades at you. Speed up the game and wait until they stop. Then go back to [27], kill the second patrolling guard on [28] and run away again.

Should any enemy soldier come here, kill him with a heavy machinegun - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Should any enemy soldier come here, kill him with a heavy machinegun. Now it's time for the second phase of the task. Select one of your men and give him all grenades. Repeat the following action until there are only three or four enemy soldiers left on the hill: go to [27], throw a grenade at your enemies and quickly run away to the rest of your men. You can even use all grenades you have, because there are plenty of them to find by the bodies of the slain enemies. Each time, throw the grenades in the direct control mode and while doing so hold the LMB and wait. A red circle will start to appear around the cursor. Release the LMB when there is a half of this circle. You'll throw a "cooked" grenade that will explode faster so the enemies won't have time to escape. The most important will be the first grenade, as it will surprise your enemies - throw it at a small group of enemies hidden behind the bushes in [29]. The explosion should kill them all. After that, eliminate as many enemies as you can in [30] (look at the picture below).

When there are only a few left you can go on the hill - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When there are only a few left you can go on the hill. Select all your men (except for those who operate the heavy machinegun) and crawl under the hill to the road that leads to the top of the hill. Make sure the enemies are not looking at you and sneak behind them. Then, change the firing mode to "Fire at will". You should be able to instantly kill the last enemies here. Put some C-4 explosive charges inside two anti-aircraft cannons but don't detonate them yet. Instead, place the heavy machinegun in the vicinity of [28] and start shooting at absolutely everyone and everything that's among the huts in [31], in [32], on a hill in [33] and near the second air defense battery in [34]. If you can't reach any other enemies, just move your machinegun closer to [32] and shoot some more. It's a little time-consuming but completely safe. After this action the only survivors should be: the solitary soldier patrolling in [35], one or two lying behind the sandbags in [33] and a few near the second air defense battery on [34]. Don't forget that the machinegun bullets penetrate the walls of huts and most of the covers so you can also kill the opponents hidden inside buildings and behind them. Moreover, remember to reload the heavy machinegun with new ammunition (taken from [8]). To do this, select a soldier who has it, press X and click LMB on the heavy machinegun. Then, simply drag all the ammunition to the machinegun "inventory".

Place the heavy machinegun in [36] and point it towards the edge of the map - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Place the heavy machinegun in [36] and point it towards the edge of the map. Destroy the third air defense battery by detonating the charges. It will cause a really large group of enemy soldiers to emerge. They will appear in [37] and you can kill them easily using your heavy machinegun (look at the picture below). After carrying out this order, have your sniper climb on the hill through [38] and place him in [39]. From there you can get rid of a soldier patrolling in [35] with no trouble.

1 - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the second air defense battery.

Now it's time to destroy the second and the last air defense battery. Pick up the heavy machinegun and go through [38] to the top of the hill. Place the heavy machinegun in the vicinity of [39] in a way that will allow you to reach the rest of the enemies standing near the second air defense battery in [34] (look at the picture below). You should be able to kill them all. New enemies may appear among the huts in [31]. If they do, place the heavy machinegun on the road in [28] again and eliminate them all.

Select a single soldier and get rid of the survivors in [28] - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Select a single soldier and get rid of the survivors in [28]. Search the boxes in the weapon depot and pick up three TNT explosive charges. Go to the last hill, lie down and encircle the single opponent lying behind the sandbags in [33]. There should be no enemies near the last air defense battery so mine it with a TNT explosive charge, but again don't destroy it yet. Instead, crawl to the top of the hill and sneak to the group of enemy soldiers standing at the other end of the hill in [40]. A cooked grenade should kill them all but do watch out for the enemies in [43]. They'll start shooting at you after the explosion, so quickly run away from this place. Now, you'll face a difficult task similar to the elimination of all the soldiers guarding the entrance to the first air defense battery. You must kill all enemies at checkpoints in [42] and [43].

First, select a sniper and, from a distance, take out two enemy soldiers patrolling the road in [41] unless you dealt with them earlier - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

First, select a sniper and, from a distance, take out two enemy soldiers patrolling the road in [41] unless you dealt with them earlier. Then, select the soldier who recently killed a group of enemies with a grenade and start throwing grenades at checkpoint in [42]. However, you must escape after each throw because of the enemies in [43] who will start shooting at you. Wait until the firing stops and throw another grenade. Place the heavy machinegun on the road in [41] and start shooting at both checkpoints. Unfortunately, you won't be able to kill everyone while shooting from this angle. That's why, after a while just move the heavy machinegun a few yards closer to the checkpoint in [42]. Alas, it will expose your soldiers to enemy fire but you should still be able to unfold the heavy machinegun on time to kill enemy soldiers before they kill yours. Take out two enemy soldiers on the bridge in [44] as soon as you can reach them.

Always place the heavy machinegun on the edge of the hill with a road - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Always place the heavy machinegun on the edge of the hill with a road. When shooting at the checkpoint in [43] watch out for the enemy heavy machinegun! Always, first kill those enemies who operate it. Eliminate the rest using the sniper. Actually, you'll have a much bigger problem with the survivors hiding in [42] because you can't kill them with the sniper from a distance. The only way is to crawl on the road and hope that your sniper won't get killed first. These survivors should be the last enemies visible on the map but that's not the end of the fight.

Move the heavy machinegun to [45] and detonate the charges to destroy the last two anti-aircraft cannons - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Move the heavy machinegun to [45] and detonate the charges to destroy the last two anti-aircraft cannons. This will cause new enemies to appear and expect them to come out from [35]. They will try to occupy the vicinity of [31] but they won't be successful because you'll kill them all using your heavy machinegun. Shoot at them and don't worry if they are hiding behind the weapon depot - you'll still hit them. You'll also get new mission objectives and three minutes for mining the bridge. Move the heavy machinegun in front of the bridge in [44].

New objective: Mine the bridge - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Mine the bridge.

New objective: Destroy the truck convoy incoming from the west.

New objective: Get your squad out of the operation zone.

As you've already cleared the area of enemies, you'll have no problem with mining the bridge in [44]. Put the TNT explosive charge in one of the diagonal beams under the bridge. However, in spite of what your soldiers were advising, don't wait for the enemy vehicle to drive on the bridge. Don't detonate the bridge. Instead, start shooting at the enemy convoy as soon as you see it. The convoy truck will stop at a safe distance from you. This will allow you to eliminate all enemy soldiers and destroy the vehicles with ease. Just keep shooting from your heavy machinegun until most of the enemy soldiers are dead. If you can reach any survivors, move your weapon a bit closer to the convoy - but not too close. Get rid of all other survivors using the sniper. Finally, gather your men and send them to [47] to finish this mission.

1 - Mission 3: On the Trail of Uncle Ho - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

1 - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - map - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Find and eliminate the Vietnamese sniper.

You start in [1]. You must be very cautious, as in the part of the jungle where you've started the game there's an enemy sniper who poses a great threat. He is sitting on the tree in [2] and his first friend is standing next to him. The second is in [3]. Select one of your men and run to the edge of the map in [4] and then to [5]. Get down and start crawling through [6] and [7]. Change the firing mode to "Hold fire" and save your game often. Keep crawling towards [2] while remaining in the bushes. Your man should detect the enemy sniper, but if the enemies standing on the ground had spotted him, you'll need to load a saved game. Detect the enemy sniper, but do not engage in combat.

Now, send your sniper on the same way, first to [4] and then to [5] - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Now, send your sniper on the same way, first to [4] and then to [5]. Shoot the tree the enemy sniper is sitting on. You'll miss him but that's not the point. The shot will alarm the remaining enemy soldiers, thus they'll get revealed (you'll see them on your map). Order your sniper to crawl through [6] and [7] and keep checking if you can aim at the enemy sniper. Hide if you see a red crosshair on your sniper. It means the enemy sniper is aiming at you. Stay in the bushes. You'll finally reach a position from which you'll be able to kill the enemy sniper (the color of dot will change to orange). Taking the enemy sniper down won't be a problem. The problem will be his comrades. They'll open fire immediately, and probably you won't be able to hide. So slow down the game, kill the enemy sniper and then select your other soldier. Order him to kill the second enemy straight away. Remember to stay behind some cover and after you've killed those two enemies, run away. Otherwise, the opponent in [3] will kill your men. Back off, and then kill him with the sniper from the other side. You will receive a new mission objective and the map will enlarge.

New objective: Destroy the pillboxes on the hill - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the pillboxes on the hill.

In the next part of the mission you'll be using the sniper (Sonny Armstrong) and the soldier with a silenced rifle (John Merrill). Place the first in [8]. He should be able to take out two enemies in [9]. First, shoot the one who's further, otherwise he'll lie down and you won't be able to reach him anymore. Then kill the one who's nearer. Don't place your sniper too close because it will alert the guards and they will start looking for you.

Then, select John Merrill - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Then, select John Merrill. Your next targets are three soldiers in [10]. Two of them operate a mortar. Look for the path near the mortar. A solitary guard is patrolling here. Wait until he goes away, and then crawl to the back of the crew in [10]. Kill the one who isn't operating the mortar first, and then get rid of his two friends. Remember not to allow the first one for even one shot. It might kill your soldier or alarm the guards nearby.

Before the patrolling guard comes back, quickly crawl to [11] and hide - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Before the patrolling guard comes back, quickly crawl to [11] and hide. Wait for him and when he comes to [12] kill him with one shot. If all goes well, you'll get rid of him without making any noise and his colleagues won't notice anything. Select the sniper and go to [13].

Look for a fallen log near the edge of the map in [13] and hide behind it (look at the picture below) - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Look for a fallen log near the edge of the map in [13] and hide behind it (look at the picture below). It's a perfect cover that will allow you to eliminate your next enemies. Before you do that however, take a look at the vicinity of [14]. A solitary guard is patrolling this place. If you shoot, he will stop so it's important to stop him at a position that will allow you to kill him easily. When you see him coming to [15], slow down the game and select your sniper. Quickly kill the enemy soldier near the tree in [16] and then an opponent who is hiding in the bunker in [17].

Try to place the sniper in such a location that will point him directly towards the entrance of the bunker in [17] - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Try to place the sniper in such a location that will point him directly towards the entrance of the bunker in [17]. This way, you'll be able to kill two enemy soldiers inside (look at the image below). Well, you will need to work with the camera a little but it is not going to be very difficult. Aim at the opponents' legs or hips. Soon, the first of five bunkers will be clear.

Select John Merrill and go to [18] and then crawl to [17] - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Select John Merrill and go to [18] and then crawl to [17]. Remember to stay in the bushes or in the shadows. You need to eliminate two soldiers surrounded by bushes in [19]. Find them and sneak from the direction at which they aren't looking at. Kill them both with your knife. Select the sniper and while staying in the current location, kill a soldier who is standing near the boulder. Next, send your sniper to [20].

From here shoot the solitary guard in [14] and then quickly eliminate the next two who operate the mortar - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

From here shoot the solitary guard in [14] and then quickly eliminate the next two who operate the mortar. The hardest part of the mission is over. Now, you'll start moving your sniper into subsequent positions in order to kill the following enemies: a guard in [16] (the one who was patrolling previously), a hidden soldier in [21], another one next to an overturned tree in [22], and then two who are leaning out of the bunkers in [23] and [24] every now and then (look at the picture below). Throw a grenade into each bunker. After you've cleared them both, there'll be two more bunkers remaining.

The next part of the mission will be very easy - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The next part of the mission will be very easy. Select two of your men who have both been on their own so far. Send them to pick up one of the mortars in [14] or [10]. Move it behind the bunker in [17] so that it will cover you. Start bombing the enemies with the mortar. First kill the soldiers who operate two mortars in [25] but don't forget to kill individual soldiers here and there. Use your map to locate enemies, and you can use all the ammunition this mortar has.

After the bombing the only survivors should be: two soldiers in each of the bunkers in [26] and [27], and the two who were out of range of mortar - the first in [28] and the second in [29] - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After the bombing the only survivors should be: two soldiers in each of the bunkers in [26] and [27], and the two who were out of range of mortar - the first in [28] and the second in [29]. Your sniper can easily take them both out. After that you need to clear the bunkers. First, kill the enemies who are leaning out of the bunkers and then throw a grenade inside. If anybody had been lucky enough to survive, have the sniper finish them off. Warning! Before you throw a grenade into the last bunker, save your game and prepare for the next mission objectives. Gather all your men between the bunkers and take three mortars that are fully loaded, and then go to [30] and using one of your men kill the last soldier. You'll receive new mission objectives and the map will enlarge.

1 - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the enemy air defense batteries.

Place the mortars in [31] and hide them among the trees and bushes. Mark each as a separate control group using Shift + digits. You have to kill all the enemy infantry that may destroy or damage your tanks, including those soldiers who operate mortars in [32] and [33]. It is a quite time-consuming task but it's not difficult. If you lose some of your men, you can always call an infantry squad and replace the dead soldiers. From now on till the end of the mission you'll be able to call two infantry squads.

Make sure the enemy mortars are in the range of yours and start bombing them - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Make sure the enemy mortars are in the range of yours and start bombing them. The opponent will try to replace each mortar crew with new soldiers and this behavior will help you. Just keep aiming at the mortars all the time. Don't wait for the reloading when controlling one of the mortars. Shoot and then immediately select the next mortar by pressing the key bound to it. Save your game frequently and don't forget to kill enemy soldiers in [34].

After a long battle the vicinity of [32] and [33] should be clear - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After a long battle the vicinity of [32] and [33] should be clear. Well, an enemy tank will remain but it's not worth the bother. Call your own tank and wait until it arrives. Place it behind the rocks in [35] - in a way shown in the picture below. From this position you'll be able to take out the crews of the anti-aircraft cannons in [36]. Make sure that the front part of your tank is facing the anti-aircraft cannons directly. Only the front of your tank is heavily armored, so it's the only way to save it from major destruction or getting immobilized.

New objective: Eliminate enemy officers - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Eliminate enemy officers.

After you've completed the previous mission objective you'll get some air support, even though you don't really need it that much. Move your tank to the edge of the map in [37] and then turn and stop in the vicinity of [38]. You must watch out for any enemy support that may come from [39]. It could be a tank or an APC with infantry. But there's no point in waiting for it. Destroy the guard tower and the checkpoint in [40] by shooting from your cannon. Eliminate the enemy infantry using a heavy machinegun.

Its fair to say that the tank is nearly indestructible as long as you remain cautious - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

It's fair to say that the tank is nearly indestructible as long as you remain cautious. Remember to shoot at the enemy soldiers from a safe distance (use your map and search for the red dots to locate the enemies). Otherwise, they might bring your heavy machinegun operator down. A moment's inattention and they can kill your entire crew because after one soldier dies, another takes his place. Eliminate all opponents until you're able to place your tank in [40] safely. Watch out for the abovementioned support here. If it's an enemy tank, then it'll probably destroy yours, but you can call another one (meaning, the last one). But if the support is an APC, you'll have no problem destroying it and killing its crew. In this case, kill the heavy machinegun operator first and then get rid of the rest of enemies (for example, you can run them over).

Remember that some of your soldiers have toolboxes that allow you to repair your tank - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Remember that some of your soldiers have toolboxes that allow you to repair your tank. So, if the enemy had damaged your tank (e.g. destroyed a track), repair it and continue to fight. It's time to complete the mission objectives. Place your tank in [40] and shoot a few times at the officers' hut in [41]. This should suffice but if they aren't dead, use the heavy machinegun.

New objective: Destroy the helicopters - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy the helicopters.

Don't be surprised if the enemy helicopters had already been shot down by your allies - it's highly possible. Otherwise, just destroy them with your tank. Two or three shots shall do the trick. The enemy helicopters should be landing in [42] and [43]. If there aren't any, you need to wait for them to land. In the meantime, you can eliminate the infantry surrounding the area.

New objective: Destroy enemy tanks - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Destroy enemy tanks.

Your allies will complete this mission objective almost every time. It's a secondary objective, so you just might as well skip it. But if you want to do it yourself, just look for the enemy tanks on your map. You should have no problem with destroying them as you have the significant advantage of fire and men. You can also use air support that is shown in the picture below.

New objective: Obtain the documents from the officers' hut - Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Obtain the documents from the officers' hut.

The last mission objective is as easy as pie. Clear the area from the enemy infantry using the tank and then send a soldier to the officers' hut in [41]. Press the Tab key to lighten up items and pick up the bag with secret documents. You'll complete the mission successfully.

1 - Mission 5: Long Way Home - map - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Note: Because of the length, the map is divided into three parts.

New objective: Rescue the POWs from the firing squad.

You start in [1]. Immediately, slow your game. You will speed it up only after you've completed the first objective. You have very little time (three minutes) to rescue the POWs from the firing squad. Moreover, there are some unpleasant surprises waiting for you. Select John Merrill (he has a silenced rifle) and run through [2], [3] and [4]. Be careful not to enter the swamp because you'll drown instantly. Reach the first enemy in [5] and kill him with a few shots. Run to [6] and take out another opponent in the same way (you should be able to sneak behind him). Save your game and quickly run to [7]. An enemy sniper is sitting on a tree here. If you get close enough, you'll detect him with ease. Bring him down. Once you're done, you should have two minutes left.

Run to [8] and get down - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Run to [8] and get down. Unfortunately, new and more alert enemies will appear in [9] and they will spot your soldier, if you aren't crawling, and fire at him. Currently, you can see only one opponent on the map but be aware that the rest is hidden there somewhere. Therefore, start crawling right before approaching [8] and prepare your knife. Throw it at the guard as soon as you can. Pick up the knife and crawl to [10]. Try to hide in the bushes and water, but don't go too deep because you could drown. Make sure to save your game before crawling any further as it's very likely that the opponents in [9] will see you. But, if you manage to get to [10], stand up and run to the wooden bridge in [11]. Quickly, kill the enemy there and run to the POWs.

Even though there's only one minute or less left to the execution, you're just one step from freeing the prisoners - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Even though there's only one minute or less left to the execution, you're just one step from freeing the prisoners. There are seven enemy soldiers in [13] and all can easily be killed with a grenade. Run to [12] (you don't have to crawl), select a grenade as the main weapon and save your game. Hold down Ctrl key and aim at an area slightly to the right of the officer standing in the middle (look at the image below). Click and hold LMB to cook the grenade. When there's a half of the red circle around the grenade cursor, release the LMB. The grenade should explode quicker preventing the enemies from escaping. Kill the survivors, if there are any, and don't forget to take out the solitary guard in [14], who will start shooting at you. Now, you can finally speed up your game.

New objective: Rescue the American POWs from their cells - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Rescue the American POWs from their cells.

In the meantime, you can start to slowly move the rest of your men to [13], but again, watch out for the enemies in [9]. You must crawl there so that they won't see you. Send John Merrill to [15]. When you are near the place, order him to get down and crawl. This way, you'll manage to spot three enemy soldiers hiding in the bushes in [15] before they do. Get closer and throw a grenade. It should kill them all.

Go back to [13] and then go to [16] - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Go back to [13] and then go to [16]. Approach the big tree by crawling because, yes, there's another sniper on it. First, locate him on the map (one of your men should scream), and then on the very tree. Take him out and go back to [15]. Now, you have to eliminate all enemies patrolling the swamps. Do this quietly by using a silenced rifle. Afterwards, there should be only five enemies left on the map.

You can ambush one of them by hiding in [17] and finishing him off with a few silent shots - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 1 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You can ambush one of them by hiding in [17] and finishing him off with a few silent shots. Pull all your men back to [18] and select the sniper to kill one of the guards in [19]. The other three will disappear in the forest, so quickly change your sniper's position and eliminate them one by one. You shouldn't have any problems with this task. After cleaning the map from enemies, run to the cages in [20] and open each of them. You will receive new mission objectives and the map will enlarge. Before you go further, search the bodies and arm the rescued POWs with rifles and ammo.

New objective: Destroy the roadblock.

Your next task is clearing the southern part of the POW camp and then capturing the roadblock on the north, which will be a preparation for the final assault. Select your sniper and hide him in the woods. Take out two guards patrolling the road to the south of the camp in [1] and [2] (look at the second map) from a safe distance. You can see the body of the first and the second one in the picture below. You might miss either of them the first time round, but don't worry about it. Just keep trying. The enemy is likely to run looking for your sniper and you should take a shot at him once he stops for a second (slowing the game can help) Next, take out the solitary soldier in [3] who is standing under the watchtower.

You must know that the alarm zone doesn't cover the southern part of the camp, which means you can kill enemies there without fear that one of them raises the alarm - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You must know that the alarm zone doesn't cover the southern part of the camp, which means you can kill enemies there without fear that one of them raises the alarm. But if it does happen you'll get a message telling you that a column of vehicles and a great number of enemy infantry are approaching. Load your saved game as fighting them is pointless. Also, you can't let enemies staying in the huts in [4], [5], [6] and [7] run outside. Apart from looking for you they could raise the alarm. Watch out and save the game frequently. If anything goes wrong just load it. The next three enemies to get rid of are standing inside the hut in [8]. Place your sniper in the vicinity of [9] and kill the first one (who's outside). After that, take out the rest. If you can't aim at them just move your sniper a few feet to the left or right.

The next task is quite difficult - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The next task is quite difficult. You have to kill two guards patrolling the east road. Place your sniper in the bushes in [10] near the road and wait until the first guard comes from the south (not from the north!). Throw a knife at him. Pick it up and quickly crawl to [11]. You can't kill another here because another two watchful enemies in [12] would see it. That's why, you must wait until he walks past you. Then, start creeping behind him, wait for a few seconds and throw a knife at him before he sees the body of his companion. If all had been done well, no one should have been alarmed. The picture below shows the bodies of these two guards (and the distance between them, which is the basis for success in this action).

These two were the only ones who could have warned the rest against the massacre that's about to happen - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

These two were the only ones who could have warned the rest against the massacre that's about to happen. Hide the sniper in [13] and start eliminating all enemies in [14] from a safe distance one by one. It's very easy, because they won't go anywhere after you (look at the picture below). Moreover, three enemy soldiers will come running here, from the hut in [15], and another one who's patrolling the southern part of the camp. Now, you must leave it and capture the roadblock. First, select John Merrill and hide him in bushes in [16] near the road. Wait until the two guards patrolling the road pass each other and kill the both using a silenced rifle. Then, go to the vicinity of [17], [18] and [19]. These areas are being patrolled by single guards, which can be taken out without difficulty. Try killing them from the furthest possible distance from the roadblock.

Locate a few boulders in [20] and send your sniper there - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Locate a few boulders in [20] and send your sniper there. Lean and shoot the soldiers standing in [21] in the head. Then, immediately, slow down the game and quickly hide your sniper behind the boulder. It will prevent your sniper from getting killed by the heavy machineguns. You can kill three soldiers this way (two are standing and the one is patrolling, their bodies are visible in the picture below). Unfortunately, you won't be able to take out the rest so easily, as you would have to place your sniper much further from the boulders and he probably wouldn't be able to escape from the heavy machineguns on time back to his hiding place, after he's killed one of the enemy soldiers.

But there is another solution - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

But there is another solution. Equip one of your men with a dozen grenades or more (don't forget that you can search the opponents' bodies). Order him to encircle the roadblock and find a hollow in [22]. Crawl to [23] and stand up. Enemy soldiers won't see you and this way you'll be able to escape quicker. Throw a grenade in the vicinity of the heavy machinegun in [24] and immediately, run to the hollow. Lie down and wait until enemy fire stops. As the heavy machineguns are now pointed at the other direction, your sniper will have more time to escape. Select him, kill one of the enemies in [25] and quickly hide behind the boulder. Don't worry about the additional troops that will come from the camp to [24]. The grenades will kill them as well. Now, repeat these two actions: alternate using the sniper with using the soldier carrying grenades. The only remaining opponents should be those hidden in the bunkers and a few near the heavy machinegun in [25].

You can get rid of them with no trouble - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You can get rid of them with no trouble. Select the soldier with grenades and crawl near the sandbags in [24]. They'll protect you from the heavy machineguns fire (look at picture below). From here, start throwing grenades until there aren't any enemy soldiers next to the heavy machinegun. Send two of your men to operate it and then select your soldier with grenades. Throw a grenade into the bunker in [26]. It should kill all the opponents, but watch out for those in [27]. They'll come out and try to escape to the camp. It will raise the alarm and you can't let this happen. Make sure to kill them using the heavy machinegun before they attempt to get away. Take the two heavy machineguns from [24] and [25] and place them both on the road to the north in [28].

New objective: Capture the trucks to evacuate the prisoners - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Capture the trucks to evacuate the prisoners.

New objective: Rescue the American POWs.

It's time for some loud action in the camp. Use the southern entrance and find a heavy machinegun in [29]. There are lots of boxes with ammunition right next to it. Take the ammo and put it into the weapon (you should have at least 2,000 bullets). Your task is to kill all the enemies in the camp in less than ten minutes. As you probably remember, heavy machinegun ammunition pierces through most obstacles that could be used by the enemy as covers. Start by shooting blindly at the buildings in [7] and [6]. Try to kill as many enemies as you can before they scatter around. Afterwards, start taking out single guards hidden here and there. Slow down the game and use your map to make the search quicker.

Don't forget about the gates in [30] and [31] - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Don't forget about the gates in [30] and [31]. Take out the crews of the cannons in [32] and [33] as well. Unfortunately, your attack will do some damage to the trucks in [34], but they aren't necessary to escape. To complete the mission objective connected with using the trucks you just need to get into one of them and get out immediately. Your own safety is more important, and you must stay behind obstacles or at a safe distance. If you shoot at the enemies who can see you, they'll quickly kill your own men who operate the heavy machinegun (look out especially for the cannons in [32] and [33]). After a while, move the heavy machinegun to [35] and continue eliminating enemies from there. Kill any single soldiers using the sniper and clear the square in [36]. If you aren't wasting your time the whole camp should be clean in nine minutes or less. You must have at least one minute left to rescue the prisoners.

Order one of your men to quickly run between the huts in [37] where the prisoners are being held - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 2 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Order one of your men to quickly run between the huts in [37] where the prisoners are being held. Watch the cutscene and then slow down the game. Mark all your men as control groups (use Shift key and digits 0-9). Remember that one group can include maximum of eight soldiers. You must create the groups of all of your men, so that you won't be confused when giving them orders. Also, it must be done very quickly. Without delay, send your men to [28]. There should be your two heavy machineguns there, as well as the rest of your soldiers. You should be able to escape before new enemies discover you.

1 - Mission 5: Long Way Home - map 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Reach the evacuation zone.

This part of the mission will start in [1] (look at the third map). Place the first heavy machinegun in [2] and point it at the north. Place the second one in [3] and turn it into the opposite direction. Send the rest of your men to hide behind covers in [4], [5], [6] and [7] (look at the image below). They'll be totally safe here, at least for now. Make sure that all your soldiers have the "Fire at will" mode activated.

New objective: Hold the evacuation zone until the helicopters arrive - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Hold the evacuation zone until the helicopters arrive.

You have to last out for four and a half minutes, or rather stop three columns of vehicles that will come from [8] and [1]. Save your game just before the fourth minute and take direct control of the heavy machinegun in [3]. Slow down the game and try to immobilize the enemy APC and kill the heavy machinegun operator as soon as possible. Then, immediately start firing at the truck that will arrive after the APC. In general, try to kill as many enemies as you can before they scatter around. Otherwise, you'll have to eliminate them one by one using your camera and map. You should be able to kill everyone until the second convoy arrives. If the enemies had killed one of your men, load a saved game and try again.

Select a heavy machinegun in [2] - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Select a heavy machinegun in [2]. The second column will appear in the second minute and will consist of a jeep and a truck full of soldiers. Fire at the truck first and try to kill as many soldiers as possible. Destroy the jeep and then, once you've slowed the game down, start searching for single opponents who are scattered around the woods. You should be able to repel all the enemy attacks easily. 20 seconds before the time runs out, expect the third column to arrive from [8].

New objective: Evacuate by means of helicopters - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

New objective: Evacuate by means of helicopters.

New objective: At least 2/3 of the prisoners must survive.

Keep shooting at the enemies in [8] the same way as before. But, once you receive a message from the pilot, send some of your men to the helicopter in [9]. Then, immediately return to directly controlling the heavy machinegun operators and repelling the attack from [8]. The helicopter can't carry all your soldiers together, so you'll have to defend yourself a bit longer. And it must be an effective defense, as at least 2/3 of the prisoners must survive. The defense don't change, though. Keep using the heavy machineguns. After some time the enemy will strike again from [1].

The attacks from [1] and [8] will come faster, so don't be surprised if you lose all your heavy machinegun operators - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The attacks from [1] and [8] will come faster, so don't be surprised if you lose all your heavy machinegun operators. The crew in [2] has the least chances to survive in a clash with an enemy tank in [1]. You can only shoot the tracks and hope that will immobilize the tank. If it doesn't happen, the tank will move to [11] and attack the rest of your men around the [9]. But even with the tank hitting your men it's still possible to complete this mission successfully.

Keep killing the enemies that are coming from [8] with the heavy machinegun in [3] - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Keep killing the enemies that are coming from [8] with the heavy machinegun in [3]. Some of them will get through and attack the ruins of the church. In order to repel this attack place some of your men behind a wall in [5] and point them at the direction, from which the enemies are coming. You don't have to worry about your men there and all you have to do is to eliminate the enemy soldiers in the vicinity of [1] and [8] (you can also use air support).

Soon, all your machinegun operators will be dead, but you must remain till the end - Mission 5: Long Way Home - p. 3 - USA - Men of War: Vietnam - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Soon, all your machinegun operators will be dead, but you must remain till the end. Try to defend yourself in the vicinity of [9] and in the end don't fight at all. Just order your men to lie down and wait for the helicopter. This will reduce the risk of them dying. Finally, you'll manage to send the last group to the helicopter and if you hadn't lost too many rescued prisoners, the last mission will be successful.
