Looking for value? Looking for games you can sink your teeth into, whether you’re at home or on the go? These Cross-Buy PlayStation games have you covered.
One of the best values in the world of video games is Cross-Buy, a service that allows PlayStation home console and Vita owners to buy a game one time, and play it across all Sony platforms. No one wants to pay for the same game twice, and with this service you don’t need to. Not only that, but in the case of most games, your saved games actually transfer back and forth between devices, allowing you to pick up from the moment you left off.
If you’re deep in the Sony ecosystem, with a PS3, PS4, and Vita all accessible, Cross-Buy just might change your gaming life. Of course, not all PlayStation games offer this, and you’ll have to look on the PlayStation Store to see if it supports the feature, so make sure to check before you buy a game on your home console assuming you will get it on Vita too.

The Game: Luftrausers is a fantastic arcade-style game where you fly an airplane around trying to rack up as many points as you possibly can by blowing up everything that gets in your way. It has that real old-school feel that most modern games can’t deliver, but it does it with the modern conveniences we all expect today. The lack of cross-save functionality isn’t a big deal in this one because it’s a score attack game. It’s definitely worth a look.
Platforms: PS3, PS4, and PS Vita
Price: $11.49, $10.39 with PS Plus

TheGame: OlliOlli is a skateboarding game that, in many ways, feels a lot like a puzzle game and an endless runner bundled up into one amazing package. You try to make it from the start of the level to the end, all the while combing together awesome tricks and looking incredibly cool. The game gets hard, especially if you aim to complete all of the challenges to get the pro versions of the levels, but that adds a ton of value. Even after hours of play, I am still hooked on OlliOlli, which is more than you can usually say for these kinds of games.
Platforms: PS3, PS4, and PS Vita
Price: $16.99
Cross Save: Yes
The Game: Rogue Legacy is a roguelike, a genre we have covered before at MakeUseOf, but it puts some of its own creative spins on it by incorporating platforming and a system that changes the properties of your next character in some interesting ways. It gets hard, but that’s to be expected from this genre. If you’re a fan of roguelike games or platformers, you need to check out Rogue Legacy.
Platforms: PS3 and PS Vita
Price: $14.99
Cross Save: Yes
The Game: Here’s another Roguelike with platforming elements, but it’s too good to leave it off the list even though it falls into the same game genre as another game included. We’ve covered Spelunky before, and it’s downright fantastic. The game has a community of hardcore players that grind through the daily runs, trying to put up the best scores possible. It has a high skill ceiling, which means you’ll be able to play it for hours on end while constantly getting better. It’s a real value.
Platforms: PS3, PS4, and PS Vita
Price: $19.99

The Game: The Swapper is an incredibly interesting puzzle game where you clone yourself and then jump your consciousness to the clones. Your goal is to make it to the end of the level by swapping. Of course, it gets complicated, as certain places will not allow you to create clones or move to the ones you’ve created. This game requires some serious creative thinking, and for people who love puzzle games that are more than just matching colored pieces, The Swapper is the perfect game.
So there you have it. If you’ve been feeling like your Vita is neglected, these games will give you something to play, while also adding some value on your home consoles. Check them out, and you’ll be glad you did! It really is one of the greatest developments in the world of video games.
