Starting where Final Fantay 13 left off, Square-Enix is back to mine their Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology in the time-traversing adventures of Lightning in Final Fantasy 13-2. Dropping the linear paths of the previous entry into the series, the new and improved Final Fantasy 13-2 hosts something called the Historia Crux System, allowing playing to return to previous parts of the game, reply, and unlock new exciting story options. For the few who played Tactics Ogre on PSP, think of Historia Crux as the Final Fantasy version of the Wheel of Time. The combat system has been improved with new QTEs, deeper combat tactics, the Mog Clock, and more. Fully explorable towns replace the hollow corridors, and an expansive plot is promised to expand on the character of Lightning — her past, present, and future.

Enjoy the opening cutscene between Caius and Lightning until the battle tutorial appears.
The game walks you through the basics of fighting at this point. Use the Auto Battle command to familiarize yourself with your offensive abilities and deal damage to the Chaos Bahamut. This is also the most efficient way to deal damage at this point of the game.
Use the Abilities option and heal yourself manually if you are running low on health. In this battle, “low” is anything under half.
Keep an eye on Bahamut’s health. After you take away half of his HP, his attacks become stronger and more rapid, so take extra precaution to heal at this point.
Next, the cinematic action sequences are introduced. These are very straightforward- just press the button that you see pop up on the screen which corresponds to the command Lightning is going to execute. Sometimes you will have options, and sometimes you won’t. There aren’t any wrong choices, but make sure not to miss the commands!
Your next fight with Bahamut is going to be very similar to the first. The only difference in this battle is the fact that you will have to heal more often. If you run low on health, go to Abilities and use War’s Benediction to heal yourself.
Upon entering this world, you will be immediately thrown into a boss battle with Paradox Alpha. This boss has very high damage resistance, so be relentless in your physical attacks. You will also need to keep in mind that this boss causes blood damage , which is damage that cannot be healed.
You will be prompted to react to the cinematic action sequences during the battle. Much like before, you need to press the buttons that correspond to different attacks as they pop up on the screen.
Talk to the soldier in red, followed by Noel, followed by the soldier that is standing next to the cell.
After Alyssa comes running in, talk to the soldier again. Then speak to Alyssa.
Once retaining control of your character, head back to the starting area. Find the wacky looking girl in the chocobo suit. She’s impossible to miss.. I promise. She sells items. Take this opportunity to buy and equip new weapons.
Head up the stairs to the northeast and a battle will initiate. After the battle, add Cait Sith to your empty slot. Upon exiting the menu, more battle ensues!
Once again, you will go through tutorials that teach you a couple more important things in this game. Take note of the Party Paradigm system and how to add monsters in the main menu. You will easily be able to dispose of the monsters in this battle with Slash and Burn.
Head up the stairs in front of you and watch the cutscene with the giant. Make a left after you head up the stairs and examine the gate (yeah.. looks like there’s more than one).
Follow the moogle’s glowing pompomp and talk to the soldier that he leads you to.
After the sequence, head into the tunnel to your right until you come up on an orange gate. Examine the gate to activate a cutscene.
Head west and north along the path to exit the tunnel. Upon exiting, you will see the giant hand destroy some more things in front of you.
You can try fighting Atlas at this point of the game if you want, but unless you’ve leveled up massively, you’re going to lose. Instead, turn around and go down the tunnel to your right. When you hit the fork in the tunnel, head west and watch the cutscene.
After the cutscene, go back down the path. Before turning the corner, press R1 and the moogle will uncover a pretty sweet hidden item.
Continue east down the path until you reach your next objective.
Once you enter the Time Labyrinth, you will need to solve the tile puzzle to escape. The tiles disappear once you step on them, so make sure that you follow a path in which you can get every crystal in one go without turning around. There will be three levels to clear, all getting slightly more difficult. None are very hard, though.
Examine the object directly in front of you. It will weaken Atlas. Now, backtrack the way you came. Now that we’ve given ourselves a chance to fight this boss, it’s time to take Atlas down!
This next fight around, the odds are much more in your favor. Keep attacking Atlas rapidly in order to Stagger him. Once you do Stagger him, he will take damage much more easily. Make sure to switch into your strongest defensive paradigm before Atlas attacks. He is big and slow, so the attacks will be telegraphed.
Examine the object directly in front of you after the battle to initiate yet another cutscene.
Go to the northeast corner of the monument (as indicated by the marker on your map) and press R1 to have your Mog uncover a hidden artifact
Head west from where you found the artifact to have Mog find yet another hidden artifact. With this, you can finally activate that orange gate.
Go back to the pillars where you found the yellow gate and use the artifact to activate it and open up the next world, Yaschas Massif.
Talk to the man in front of you to receive a map of Yaschas Massif. Once you have the map, talk to the man again and grab the 500 gil nearby before jumping down the cliff to your right.
Walk east, and then north. As you head north, the path will turn westward a bit. Once you reach the dark area, you’ll know you’re in the right place.
Collect all the treasures in the dark area and head north. Chocolina is back, and she has some new weapons in her inventory..
Head northeast and then north until you reach the big slab of stone. Talk to Noel.
After the cutscene, talk to the female researcher standing by Chocolina. Prepare yourself for a boss battle!
In order to give yourselves a good chance against the Rift Beast, use Cait Sith’s Esuna as soon as the battle begins and the boss casts his de-shell and de-protect spells. Other than that, stagger the boss as soon as possible. Until you do that, the boss will go through bouts of very high damage resistance, so don’t get discouraged. Keep your HP up and take your time with this fight.
After the battle, Hope is going to show up and start talking. A lot. The characters in this game seem to do that on occasion, don’t they?
Take a look around the area. Check near the bottom of the large stairs and up the ramp by the statue for some more goodies.
Talk to the soldier that is marked with “!” and you will be able to proceed along the northeastern path. Here, you can obtain the hidden Gysahl Greens and a Wandering Talisman. Use the R1 button and watch Mog do his thing.
Talk to Hope several times. You will get the Hollow Artifact. Now, head for the glimmering gate that is located in the middle of the map. Congratulations, you have unlocked Oerba!
Walk straight ahead and jump the gap. Press R1 for a time rift occurance.
Connect the crystal bonds, making sure to connect crystals with the same color.
Continue down the road and pick up the 2 Gysahl Greens.
Find the opening in the fence and go through it to drop down the ledge.
Keep going southeast until you reach the main plaza. Go inside the house and look on the lowest floor to fnd a map of Oerba.
Go northwest from the house to find Chocolina’s shop. She’s got some new items for you, so stock up!
Find the dark area off to the side of the plaza and press R1. Bond the crystals successfully to pick up a Fragment.
Go up the slope and then head to your left until you reach the tree. Use Mog to pick up another 500 gil by the tree.
Go right and head down the stairs. Watch for when the moogle’s pompom lights up. Once you see that it does, press R1 and enter another time rift for a chance to earn another fragment.
Go downstairs and through the passage. Look around- if you see plenty of sand, you are going the right way.
Go down to the beach and pick up a LibraScope. Once you grab it, keep walking along the beach until reaching the Deserted Schoolhouse.
Go up the stairs and pick up the 600 gil along the way. Once you reach the rooftop, examine the pedestal with the colorful object on it.
This is going to be the toughest boss fight by far. Caius Ballad means business. Try to poison the boss right off the bat. Keep trying until the status stays on him- it will make the fight plenty easier. Once he is poisoned, switch to a magic oriented paradigm and launch a strong and quick offensive. This is the best way to stagger the boss. This boss will continue to heal himself with Regen and make the battle more annoying by casting Protect. Stick to the battle plan, though, and you’ve got this!
Pick up the Artifact of Origins, drop down through the busted window, and head back towards the shiny gate.
Use the Artifact of Origins you picked up and the gate will reveal the next Yaschas Massif level.
Jump up the sequence of ledges to find the Encounter Gate Seal.
Jump off another ledge and talk to Noel. Afterwards, head towards the encampment area and talk to Hope.
Enjoy the cutscene and talk to Noel once it is over.
Head inside Chocolina’s shop if you missed anything from her last time. Honestly, she doesn’t have anything new, but if you picked up some more gil and weren’t able to afford some weapons last time, this is a good chance to grab them.
Talk to Hope, try leaving the house, then talk to Hope again. Go up the slope that looks like it is made out of metal and grab the 600 gil at the top. Look around, and press R1 to obtain a hidden artifact.
Hop on a chocobo and ride towards the area that was covered by searchlights the last time you were here. There is an area that is high up that you will be able to get to now that you can jump with the chocobo.
Approach the crystal gate, which is located on the west edge of the map, and use your Wild Artifact to activate it.
Once back inside the Historia Crux, choose to go to Yaschas Massif again. Head to the gate at the south end (and by south, i mean DEEP south) and use your Mysterious Artifact to activate it.
You can’t do too much with this level for now. Serendipity is blocked off. Once you enter the Void Beyond, head south to pick up a map of the place. Yeah, that’s about it for here. For now.
Enjoy the dramatic cutscene upon entering the level. Once you have control, proceed forward and get ready for a tough boss fight.
The giant raddish will have several little monsters healing it throughout the battle. This is what really makes the battle a pain. Deprotect the boss and assault it relentlessly with your physical and magic attacks. The boss can poison you, so be prepared to use Esuna when necessary. The battle concludes with a Cinematic Action Sequence.
Talk to Snow to get the map of Sunleth Waterscape.
Proceed south until reaching the underground path, swing across the vines, and head southeast until you find a cooky chocobo lady.
Continue until you reach the roadblocks and use R1 to get rid of them.
Go left and cross the tree trunks into the Overgrown Forest. Swing across the series of vines until you reach the artifact at the end. The enemies guarding it are easy regulars.. dispose of them as you wish.
Jump to get to the lower platform and swing on the vines to backtrack. Hop on a chocobo and head back to the crossroads. Continue southwest for the Mog Throw tutorial.
Use Moogle Throw to get the Wild Artifact to your left after the tutorial.
Get off the beast and head towards Chocolina. Head southeast and swing across on the vines.
Northeast from where you land, press R1 to reveal a hidden vine. Don’t get on it just yet though.
Head southwest and move down the one path we have not yet explored. Jump over the tree trunks, use moogle toss, and you will yet again find another artifact that is, yet again, being guarded by a bunch of pretty weak random enemies.
Backtrack to that hidden vine you found earlier and use it to swing across. Use R1 to get the hidden Unicorn Horn, and use the next vine to swing over to where Chocolina is. Use R1 to find another hidden vine.
Backtrack to the crossroads and head east. Look for the platform with the fragment above it. Once you find it, jump down.
Toss the moogle up to get a Suntleth Waterscape fragment.
Head to the gate you passed by the area that is marked The Base of the Crystal in the start menu. Use the Thundering Artifact you picked up earlier to unlock the next area, Archlyte Steppe.
Go northwest to enter the Nomad Camp.
Check the hidden platform by the stairs for a Grimoire Hat and 600 gil.
Locate Chocolina to the right of the stairs. She’s got some new items in the accessory department that are definitely worth looking into.
Talk to Tippur- their chief- and you’ll get a map of Archlyte Steppe. Accept the nomad’s quest after.
Head south (a yellow “!” indicates your destination on the map). Defeat the monsters and recover the Archlyte Steppe Fragment.
Examine the red Cactaur stone and you will be teleported back.
Talk to the chief, and then talk to the girl Myta outside his house. She will ask you to go talk to some sheep. Yup. Sheep. You’re talking to some.
Bring the items back to Myta and she will give you another Archlyte Steppe Fragment. Talk to her once more after that.
Talk to the girl by the weather control device. Flip both levers down to make the weather sunny.
Talk to Tipur then flip the right level to the up position to make the weather stormy.
Head east and confront Faeryl. This is a fight that requires you to switch between paradigms extremely quickly. If you are in anything but a strong defensive paradigm when Faeryl attacks you, you don’t have a very good shoot at this fight. Heal quickly and use chain combos to stagger this boss.
After receiving the Archlyte Steppe Fragment, shimmy on back to the Historia Crux and go back to Sunleth Waterscape.
Make your way over to Sunleth Waterscape and take the gate in Bow Isle to activate the Coliseum .
Grab the Coliseum fragment in the middle and collect all the visible treasures. Near the gate, you can find the hidden treasure- a map of the Coliseum. That’s about it for here. Head to Sunleth Waterscape .
Head to the Assemlby Area to engage in a battle with Mutantomato. Use a triple MED paradigm to heal and a triple SEN paradigm to get the boss staggered. Once it’s staggered, unleash all physical attack hell!
Pick up the Mutantomato fragment. At the same place where you just beat the boss, you will be able to throw the moogle to get something out of reach. It’s the Mysterious Artifact.
Backtrack to the Forest Crossroads and approach the gate.
Choose “yes” to transform your artifact and activate the gate.
Head to The Void Beyond and check the southern, northern, and eastern areas for different TBs. Unlock the hidden 800 gil using R1, and you’re essentially done here now too. Boy, we’re doing this quick, aren’t we?
Your next destination is Serendipity.
The door is ajar to Temptation Plaza! Talk to the girl at the entrance and receive a map of Serendipity and a Casino Ticket. You can also find another Casino Ticket in a nearby TB.
Head to the house at the top. This is the Chocobo Racing house. Get acquainted with it, and check the small chocobo on the left to obtain a Serendipity Fragment.
You are now ready to head to Academia. Explore the casino area if you want for your own enjoyment. I don’t really recommend it.. it’s a pretty frustrating place. Then again, I’m not a gambler so…
This level gets tougher. Head east from where you start off and examine the panel.
Go up the escalator and watch the scene in the alley.
Receive the map of Academia by examining the yellow panel.
Around the corner and to the left, you will find Chocolina. She sells new weapons. Stock up!
Talk to the girl with blonde hair behind one of the yellow terminals. Accept her quest.
Head west from Chocolina, clearing the enemies along the way. I know, there’s a lot and they’re tougher. If you keep going west, you will run into a group of 3 Koboldroid Yan. Defeat them and remove the barrier.
Move down and south along the small catwalk type thing. Take the stairs up north and you will be engaged in an event battle.
Near the escalator, go east until you hit Grand Avenue Square. Turn left on Grand Ave and keep going west and clearing enemies.
After the Soul Edge scene, keep going west until you reach the blue escalator. Watch the scene of the bridge collapsing.
Go north across the broken bridge, and then west, then north. Go through the enemies and activate the panel to change the escalator from red to blue.
Take the escalator that you just turned blue up and go west. Once you enter New Town, go south.
Keep moving south past the red escalator and take the second path that branches off west. Go north and engage Fencer the robot. Take care of it and the barrier will follow.
Ride the blue escalator up. Get any last minute supplies you need from Chocolina’s. When you’re ready, go west and prepare for the next battle.
Use elemental magic to destroy Zenobia’s tentacles. Keep using magic after the tentacles are down, as physical attacks don’t work too well in this battle.
Finish off the battle with a Cinematic Action Sequence. You will get a fragment and Artifact.
The artifact activates the gate in New Town up north. Go to the gate and activate it. Next stop: Augusta Tower.
Examine all 4 orange terminals in the room, then exit the room and make a right.
Toss Mog over to the next ledge to get a Librascope. Head south and enter the next room.
Examine all 4 orange terminals. When one of them asks you for a password, enter in 9261 to get the Augusta Tower map. You can hear the people outside quietly saying these numbers if you walk close to them.
Head to the west room on the current floor you’re on (which is 50, by the way). Go through the room and onto the walkway.
Turn to the north and grab the Wild Artifact. Next, head the opposite way and examine the terminal. Looks like you need the key to proceed… time to bust a quick mission!
Use the Artifact of Origins you got in the Oerba level to unlock AF01X Yaschas Massif. From there, use the Wild Artifact on the gate in the Pass of Padra to activate another timeline of Augusta Tower.
Once you arrive back in Augusta Tower, examine the orange terminal to turn the room you are in around. For reference, let’s call this the east room.
Exit to the walkway and go south. Check the second terminal to rotate the southeast room.
Walk through the southeast room and to the walkway on the outside. Walk north, grab the Mana Sliver 9x, turn around, and move west.
Examine the third terminal twice to rotate the southwest room.
Board the elevator that descends and let it take you to Floor 14.
Step off the elevator and go west to find Chocolina. Her shop has some new accessories.
Examine the terminal south of Chocolina twice and it will rotate the west room.
Go through the west room, onto the walkway, and proceed to the southwest room. Fiddle with the terminal to rotate the southwest room.
Exit on the southeast side and stand on the lower elevator. Mess with the terminal and it will take you to Floor 15.
Walk through the southwest room and onto the walkway.
Check terminal 7 three times to rotate the southwest room. GO through it to reach the west room. Hit the terminal next to the west room twice to rotate it.
Approach the orange monitor in the room and enter the numbers that the robots have been spewing throughout this level. The combo is 1237172. You will get a Fragment and Access Key 50.
Go back to the Historia Crux and enter the first timeline of Augusta Tower. It’s time to finish what we’ve started.
Go to the terminal that you couldn’t go through before. Step on the platform and go in the direction of the southeast room. You’ll find Chocolina.. although she doesn’t have anything new on her.
Exit to the outer walkway and move around the perimeter to get to the Northwest room.
Fiddle with Terminal #3 to shift the northwest room.
Talk to Alyssa, who is out on the middle walkway. Go north, check the terminal, and then talk to Alyssa once again.
Board the elevator and fight a few battles. Nothing too hard or fancy- just use your paradigms and non new weapons (thank Chocolina…) to dispose of these guys.
On Floor 51, go towards the southeast room and then move southwest from there.
Examine terminal #1 once and terminal #3 once. Next, move to the inner walkway and examine terminal #4 three times.
Go to the newly accessible north room and check the orange terminal for Access Key 52. Check the other terminal three times and it will rotate the north room.
Board the central elevator, choose yes, and ride up to Floor 52.
Go to the southwest room and use the terminal to rotate the southwest room. Head into the room that is to the west and check that terminal twice to get access to the middle walkway.
Operate terminal #3 to rotate the northwest room. Head to the west room and operate the terminal inside twice to rotate it.
Head back to the southwest room and check the terminal twice to rotate it.
Board the main elevator and shimmy on up to the top floor.
Chocolina is here if you need anything before a brutal series of bosses. When you’re ready, head up the stairs.
Obtain the Artifact of Rebirth. The gate on the top floor is now activated. Here we go.
For the first battle, take out the manipulators around Fal’Cie. He will keep bringing them back.. but when they’re down it significantly reduces his magic damage.
Same strategy as the last fight. Take out the manipulators. Fal’Cie will focus on physical attacks this time around.
Go through the Cinematic Action Sequence and fight Fal’Cie again. He will now mix up physical and magic attacks. Fight him the way you have been fighting him, taking care to use 3 MEDS after his stronger attacks.
You will receive an Augusta Tower Fragment after the battle. Check the terminal and yo will get access to the gate nearby. Time for a new Academia level.
Ride the escalator up north to Chocolina’s shop. Check her inventory- she does have some new items this time around.
Mess with the orange terminal and watch the cutscene.
Go south until you reach the alley, and use R1 to nab the hidden Wild Artifact in the southeast corner.
Head towards the west part of Academia to enter New Town.
Go past the first left, turn right, turn left, and pick up the 1050 gil. So far so good, right?
Go downstairs, turn left, go downstairs again, hang a right, go down the escalator, and turn right.
Head south, past the escalator and make the second left. Turn around, make two rights, go up the escalator, and make three rights, grabbing the phoenix down along the way.
Go to the northern party of the city and enter the large building. Talk to Dr. M, the man with the white hair.
You can get five fragments by following Captain Cryptic around. He teleports to various locations around town. Find him and answer his questions to receive the fragments.
Go to the research facility and talk to Hope 3 times.
Use your moogle to get the hidden Platinum Casino ticket on the ledge by Hope.
Talk to the receptionist at the front desk to learn about the seven gravitational cores. Sounds like your next mission!
The Alpha fragment can be found in the Tidal Shallows area of New Bodhum. It is located on the metallic platform that is slightly more raised out of the two that you’ll find.
To get the Beta fragment, work your way to Bresha Ruins. Ride a chocobo from the Echos From the Past area and east and south until you reach the stone fence by the stairs. Use your moogle’s pompomp to find the hidden fragment.
The Gamma fragment can be found in Oerba. Head to the Village Proper and position yourself in the southeast area where there is sand. Use a chocobo to jump on the roof of Chocolina’s shop to find Gamma, and return to Historia Crux.
For the Delta piece, return to Academia and find Chocolina’s shop. North of her shop is a red escalator. Go up the escalator to find the hidden item.
While still in Academia, go to Chocolina’s shop and jump down the blue escalator. Turn straight around and go south to find a new gate in New Town. You are now able to activate the gate.
Head to Yaschas Massif and ride a red chocobo to the southwestern part of the world. Find the three triangular cracks in the ground, using the map for reference, and check the largest one for the Epsilon fragment. Time to go back to Academia .
Find Alyssa in the same place you left her and give her the gravitational cores to receive an artifact.
Talk to Noel by the door and leave the building. Hop on a chocobo and ride it south. Go east at the ramp.
Observe the gate near the platform on the upper right. You are now able to activate it. Select the middle node once you do so.
Go east from your initial location. After the reunion, talk to your encounter to receive a fragment.
Go south and pick up the Librascope.
Find the girl between the stairs and talk to her to get a fragment. Go back down the stairs and to the east. Talk to the girl again for another fragment.
Go upstairs and talk to the girl one more time in the Throne of the Goddess area.
Go up the stairs and to the west. There is something hidden.. and it is Chocolina. She sells nothing new.. but stock up if you need to for the upcoming fight. When you’re ready, talk to that girl that kept moving one more time.
The best way to go about this boss fight is to make sure Caius Ballad is poisoned consistently throughout the fight.
Talk to Lebreau and enter the Town Square. Talk to Gadot and then Yuj, followed by Maqui.
Go inside Nora’s house and then go back to the town square. Talk to the woman standing on the opposite side of Nora’s house and you will receive a fragment.
One the cutscenes are over and you have control, head to the meteor impact site that you visited at the beginning of the game. Watch the events unfold and you will now have access to Dying World.
Once you reach Dying World, you will be without your moogle. Go up the northeast stairs and walk west for a cutscene.
Go east and talk to Caius, and then go southeast to enter the Farseers’ Settlement area.
Within the vicinity of the settlement you can find a hidden map of of Dying World hovering about in the air.
Punch the shadow of Noel using R1 and try talking to the girl that Noel was talking to. Then, proceed southeast for a battle.
You only have Noel for this battle.. but it’s surprisingly a cakewalk. This boss has a very low amount of HP… 5,000 to be exact. Stay on the offensive.
Go up north for a while until you get to Farseers’ Relic. Initiate a sharp turn to the southeast once in this area and go in the direction of the stone fence. Enjoy the cutscene.
Noel will warp. You can find him in the middle section of the dying world.
Approach Noel a few more times and you will be teleported. Once you end up next to Chocolina’s shop.. stock up. Approach Noel for the next boss fight.
This boss battle might take a while. It’s not exceedingly difficult.. but Gogmagog does heal himself which makes things a bit more tedious.
Go to Farseer’s Relic again and talk to the moogle. After restoring your moogle abilities, feel free to pickup the treasures lying around the world before hopping into the distorted spacetime.
Starting at the beach, go west. Once you are able to run, move east past the starting position and watch for Mog’s pompomp to light up. Use R1 to recover a New Bodhum fragment.
Go to Chocolina’s shop on the northwest side of New Bodhum. She has nothing new (gah, the wench!). Go south of Chocolina in the southwest corner and use R1 to uncover yet another New Bodhum fragment.
You are now able to obtain super concealed items.
Find Chocolina’s shop on the northwest side of the world. In the southwest corner you can find a hidden New Bodhum Fragment.
Go southeast from Chocolina’s shop to find a super concealed Fragment. Northeast from her shop, use the moogle to find a superconcealed map of New Bodhum.
Activate the gate with the Artifact of the Ark and head do Dying World . From your starting position, head south and towards the red chocobo. Check near the chocster by the chocobo to find a hidden Dying World Fragment.
Go towards the bridge that connects The Black Sands and The Border. When you reach the pedestal, press R1 to get the Wild Artifact.
Head to Serendipity to unlock Bargain Hunter and Anti-Grav jump. You can use the latter ability to get to the western part of Archlyte Steppe now.
Head west and into the ravine. Keep a lookout for an out of reach item over another ledge. Throw the moogle at it to obtain the Wild Artifact. Time to head to Academia yet again.
Once you begin the area, go south, north, and then east. Check the cactuar stone to hit the checkpoint.
Check Chocolina’s shop. She has new items! And all of a sudden, she is our best friend again :].
Go north and then east to encounter Mimi. Then go north and cross the block to get to the western platform.
Turn west and then go to the northwest platform. GO up the stairs to the north and tap the cactuar stone to reach the checkpoint.
Go east and reach the platform to get a map of the current Academia world.
Drop down to get to the last checkpoint. You will be doing this a lot. Go north and then board the block to reach the northwest platform.
Go north, head downstairs, and grab the Shaman’s Mark. This will indicate you are going in the right direction.
Turn south, go up the stairs, and wait for the block to connect to get to the southeastern platform.
Turn around and wait for the block to connect to the northeastern stairs. Proceed to the platform with the yellow “!”.
Two notes in this fight: Use deprotect and deshell on the Pacos. It is really important to make them stick. They will also revive each other when one of them is down. Try to finish them as quickly as possible.
Fall down to the last cactuar checkpoint and use the block to the south. Cross over the southeastern platform and cross the eastern block to examine the cactuar stone for another checkpoint.
Get on the stair block to the north when you can and go to the northeastern platform.
Activate the next cactuar stone. Go up the stairs to the north and change the red cube to blue. Now go to the stairs to the south and go west to get to the northwestern platform.
Go west to find another cactuar stone and then go north to reach the platform to your west. Flip the red cube to blue and then get aboard the eastern platform.
Hit the cactuar stone to reach the checkpoint and make the red cube blue. Head north and west to reach the western platform, and then wait for another block to align and take you to the southwest platform.
In the next area, hop on the platform to the north and quickly sprint to your east to reach the final platform. Chocolina’s shop is here, so buy any last minute things you need before the final onslaught.
Go east and south until you reach the block of stairs to the southwest. On the western platform, there is a red cube. Head over there and examine it to turn it blue.
Fall down to the last cactuar checkpoint and head on the block north of you for the final boss battles.
Use Serah’s deprotect manually in the first battle against Chaos. Use your ravage attacks to finish off this first round quickly once you do that.
When fighting Caius (you will have to do it a couple of times), keep in mind that his attacks are still the same as his previous ones. He does have an attack that leaves one of your characters with a bunch of status ailments. The key here is to know that Caius will only attack one character until you run out half of his HP. Use this knowledge to plan your paradigm pattern.
The second time you fight Caius, De-protect and De-shell are very important. Make sure to poison him as well- this will counteract the Regen the boss has in effect throughout the battle. Attacking Caius and interrupting him as he is relaunching his attacks is the best way to stagger him. Once you do, unleash all hell and the battle is yours.
The Bahamut trio is tough. You will have to take out the two in front, as they are casting haste, bravery, shell, and protect on the purple one. Focus your attacks on one of them at a time and get rid of them systematically.
When you are down to the purple bahamut.. make sure to switch into a defensive paradigm when he launches his Gigaflare. The other two Bahamuts will revive if you don’t end the battle quickly enough.
Enjoy the last cinematic action sequence! Congratulations on beating Final Fantasy XIII-2!
