Octodad: Dadliest Catch Walkthrough

The central cephalopod of Octodad returns in the Kickstarter funded sequel Dadliest Catch with an expanded story, and the eight-limbed experts at Game Front want to help you manage this hilariously destructive adventure. The main mollusk Octodad’s deceptive ways are starting to cause friction in the family. It’s up to the player to navigate wild challenges and puzzles all in the name of love.

Like the first indie adventure, Octodad is a lanky, jerky, boneless mess. You’ll have to fight the controls to get the tentacled one through each scenario, including a deadly run-in with a chef hungry for calamari. Check out the adventures in our image-filled tour below.

Wedding Bells

The art of using tentacles is one that requires much patience and practice to master. Become familiar with the controls and clear the junk off of the table. Next, pick up the cushions to reveal the cabinet key. Open the lock and remove the mirror… and the wall.

Open the door ahead and enter the party room. Enter the closet to the left and locate your tux. Put on the suit and grab the key hidden beneath it. Use the key to unlock the door to the hall.

Locate your bowtie on the portrait of Cthulhu above the presents. Toss a present into the window to shatter it and the bowtie will fall onto the table below. Grab the tie and place it on your suit. Open the gate to the chapel and walk to the aisle.

While walking down the aisle, be sure not to cause too much suspicion. Do not knock over the vases lining the aisle or the guests will become curious. Once you reach your future wife, search for the ring in the box to the right. Grab the ring and place it on the bride.

Home, Sweet Home

Get out of bed and shut off the annoying alarm clock. Walk into the kitchen and place the pot in the coffee maker. Pour the grounds into the machine and press the red button to prepare some fresh coffee.

Retrieve the chocolate milk from the fridge and bring it to Stacy in the living room. Pour it into Stacy’s cup, which may be a bit tricky. If you cannot pour the milk into the cup, push it forward with more force than necessary but do not hit Stacy in the face. If the particles are spilling out of the jug it is ready to be poured into the cup.

Return to the kitchen and drink your cup of coffee. Next, enter the backyard and prepare to start your chores. Locate the wood chopping area and place the wood on the stump. Pick up the ax and swing it at the wood to chop it. Once all of the logs are chopped, head to the shed.

Enter the shed and grab the buried lawnmower. Drag it across the tall grass to cut it down. Once the lawn is finally clear of the ugly grass, locate the garden and begin pulling up the weeds. Be sure that you do not step on the flowers or your wife will become suspicious.

Locate the grill next to your wife and remove the lid. Place the uncooked meat onto the grill and wait until it turns brown. Pick up the cooked patty and place it on top of each bun on the picnic table. Make three burgers to feed your hungry family. Do not worry about any extra ingredients.

After all of the chores are done, the birdhouse will fall off of the tree. Pick it up and place it back on the hook. The crazy chef will break down your fence and kill you with a riding lawnmower. Before you are sucked in and chopped up, knock the two garden gnomes into the mower to destroy it.

Gervason’s Grocery

Enter the grocery store and locate the freezer section. Most of the doors are frozen, so find the open freezer and climb inside. Squeeze yourself through the shelves until you are sucked into the vents, then drop into the pizza section and pick up the box.

Enter the cereal aisle to find the sugar-crazed woman with the last box of cereal. Inconspicuously walk over to her cart and steal the box. Don’t cause any suspicion and wait until she does not have a line of sight on you.

Head over to the apples in the fresh produce section of the store. Carefully make your way across the slippery floor covered in bananas. Collect the golden delicious apple for Stacy.

Next, find the chocolate milk buried behind all of the regular milk in the diary section. Remove the white milk and pick up the fresh chocolate milk in the back.

The final item on the list can be found on top of the luxurious Soda City. Carefully climb to the top of the soda skyscraper to reach the airplane. If necessary, remove the cases of sarsaparilla to make your way up. Obtain the mango soda and head back down to the ground.

Find the deli section in the back of the store and grab the free sushi sample. Run as soon as the crazy chef attacks. Quickly make your escape to the produce section and meet with your wife. Walk to the checkout section and scan every item that you have collected.

Aquatic Fun Center

Grab the aquarium voucher from your wife. Next, enter the line and redeem your ticket at the booth. Avoid the marine biologists and reach the turnstile through the gift shop. Enter the aquarium through the turnstile and head up the stairs.

Your family will scatter. First, follow Tommy into the World of Kelp. Grab the globe in the first room to start the game. Map all of the world’s kelp forests by pressing the indicated color coordinated buttons. Once you are finished, head down the long slide to the next section.

Step on the tilt platform to start the quiz. Walk around to tilt the quiz in a certain direction, and slide the puck to reveal all of the tiles. Next, locate the large piece of kelp above the fan. Grab the kelp and pull it down with force. Grab the red piece at the top before it moves back up.

Step inside of the sun wheel and run forward to power it up. After Tommy activates the wheel, exit and find the spores on the other side of the room. Plant three sets of blue and green spore combinations to help the kelp grow. Slide to final area and grab the Otter’s hand. Slide him around to protect him from the flying sea urchins.

Follow Tommy into the octopus playground. Ride the fan to the top of the platform and climb up to the zip line. Slide to the trampoline on the other side and bounce to the top. Locate Tommy and follow him down the final slide.

The Deep Sea

Find Stacy in the Deep Dark Sea exhibit. Walk straight ahead to the dance floor and stand on the start pad. Wait until the game starts, then step on the indicated tiles to complete the dance floor. Once the door unlocks, grab a shake light and head forward through the Hall of Jellyfish.

Give Stacy the shake light so she can distract the marine biologist. While he is not looking, sneak by and climb up the stairs. Enter the maintenance area and plug the wires into the walls to turn on the lights. They will be color coordinated and each plug will have a specific shape.

Exit maintenance and focus your attention on the fish statue. Change the position of the spotlight so that the numbers will match the ones on the statue. Once the horrible snuggle monster is revealed, follow Stacy out of the exhibit.

Find the up escalators and quickly walk up them. This can be done by lifting your tentacles as high and forward as they can possible go. Once you reach the top of the escalator, press the button to reverse the direction for Stacy. Once both escalators are fixed, exit to the main room.

Amazon Arcade

Speak to Scarlet in the Amazon Arcade. Win her seven prizes to distract her from the inquisition. First, grab the handle on the snake game next to her. Stretch your tentacles as far as possible to pull the snake. When the prize is dispensed, retrieve it and gift it to Scarlet.

Next, grab the handle on the fish pump next to your wife. Move your tentacles up and down rapidly to pump up the fish. Once it reaches the top you will win another prize. Grab the stuffed animal on the other side of the room.

Locate the fish toss and pick up one of the fish. Throw it at the targets to knock all of them down. Alternatively, you can climb into the machine and knock them over with your tentacles. Give the third prize to Scarlet.

Next, head over to the Fruit Blaster and grab the turtle. Fire the water cannon at the apples to earn points. You will need to hit 20 pieces of fruit in a 30 second time span to win a prize for your wife.

Show off your incredible basketball skills at Dolphin Dunks. Grab a basketball and throw it through the hoop. You must make six baskets to receive a prize.

At the Caiman Jaw Claw, grab the control and position the claw above a stuffed alligator. Press the drop button to pick it up. Once the alligator drops into the prize slot, retrieve it up and give it to Scarlet. If you want to cheat, you can squeeze yourself into the machine and just grab a prize.

Pick up the hammer at the Reel the Eels game. Club the first eel to start the game, then hit four others with the hammer. Grab the final prize and give it to Scarlet. The aquarium tank behind her will crack. Before dealing with it, you can play the rest of the games in the arcade.

Head down to the lower floors and use your tentacle to fix the tank. The tank will crack even more, and Scarlet will ungratefully throw her prizes at you. Use the stuffed animals to patch all of the leaks before the tank shatters. Do this quickly or people will become suspicious about why you are not drowning.

Once the problem is finally resolved, exit the arcade. Follow your angry wife up to the shark tank to continue her discussion. Climb the stairs to the cafeteria and head through the employee door to reach Scarlet.

Sea Legs

Jump off of the boat onto the deck of the ship. Next, sneak by all of the sailors. Use the boxes to stay out of their line of sight, but be careful of the extremely slippery surfaces. Reach the ship’s cabin without being spotted.

While the captain is taking a shower, open the locker next to the bathroom and steal the captain’s suit. Put on the suit and hat as a disguise and impersonate the ship’s captain. Once the sailor walks in, exit and head towards the helm of the ship.

Once you reach the helm, throw the starter switch to fire up the ship’s engines. Next, use the crane controls to swing a boat across the deck to destroy the boxes in your way. Exit to the staircase and move the pieces off of the path.

Investigate the deck to find the woman stowaway. Have a discussion with her about your predicament until the crazy chef shows up. Wait until you are out of the chef’s line of sight, then sneak by while Scarlet distracts him with a discussion about current events. Return to the helm and turn the wheel drastically to knock the chef off of the ship.

Shark Naked

Return to present day after basking in your memories. Swim around the tank and avoid the deadly shark. Enter the pipe system and escape towards the dolphin tank. Once inside, locate the next set of tunnels and swim into it.

Avoid the moving parts and fans in the tunnel system. Slip through the small openings without getting hit. The shark will soon reappear, so quickly double back to the dolphin tank. Find the pipe that leads back to the shark tank and return to your original location.

Watch as your family speaks to the crazy chef. Once he leads them to the cafeteria, head through the pipe system and escape into the aquarium’s storage room.

Silent But Dadly

Exit the storage room and find the door to the gift shop. Sneak through and use the props to avoid the marine biologist. Slide under the security gate to reach the ticket booth.

Hide from the group of biologists by the turnstile. Grab the sliding wall near the ticket booth and slide it forward. Stay behind it so the biologists cannot see you. Once you reach the ladies’ restroom, head in and climb through the vent.

Drop down into the break room and grab an item. Place it on the burner and turn it on to sound the fire alarm. Enter the vent system again before the biologists investigate the room.

Exit the ladies’ room and head through the turnstile. Reach the aquatic fun center that has basically been turned into an obstacle course. First, climb the ladder onto the platform above the arcade. Next, drop into the cart of stuffed animals.

Climb out of the cart and locate the shark costume on the rack under the staircase. Put on the costume to disguise yourself as Joe, then move up the stairs to the cafeteria. The door is locked, so drop the disguise and squeeze through the tray return.

Hot Concessions

Locate your family inside of the cafeteria. Once the fire breaks out, carefully run down the row of tables to escape from the crazy chef. Use the fish decorations as a zip line to cross the gap. Continue running while avoiding the obstacles.

Reach Scarlet and have her boost you up to the rafters. Carefully make your way across the planks to reach the other side of the cafeteria. Drop down and assist Stacy so she can reach the sprinkler system.

Extinguish the fire and stay out of the chef’s line of sight. Run around the room and avoid his flaming cleaver attacks. Grab fish decorations and place them inside of the water spouts to increase the water pressure.

Clog the three fish spouts to raise the pressure enough to blow up the fountain. Finish off the chef once he becomes trapped inside of a large fish. Hug him and forgive him for everything to resolve the situation.
