Majami Hirozs Five Amazing 8-Bit Video Game Demakes

Five Amazing 8-Bit Demakes

8 bit demakes

Let's clear one thing up right away. YouTuber MajamiHiroz's animations really aren't 8-bit in the strictest sense of the word. In fact, they usually have a distinctly modern edge, mixing retro sprites with beautifully rendered 3D environments and flashy post processing effects.

But if he's a bit anachronistic when it comes to the 8-bit angle, he more than makes up for it by staying absurdly true to the spirit of the game's he's demaking. The visuals, writing and music are all pitch perfect, and he manages to find voice actors that are borderline indistinguishable from the real thing.

So far, he's taken on high profile titles like Arkham City, Red Dead Redemption, and Max Payne, and pulled them off in spectacular fashion. We can't wait to see what games he turns his attention to next, but in the meantime, here are five of his 8-bit demake animations, presented for your viewing pleasure.

5. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

This it the animation that started it all. Majami manages to capture everything that makes the Assassin's Creed games memorable in a gorgeous visual style that's equal parts 8-bit and Minecraft.

4. Tony Montana plays "Mario Bros"

Scarface's Tony Montana meets up with Luigi for a romp in the classic arcade game. Why? We have no idea, but it's always nice to see Luigi get what's coming to him. Needless to say, this one's not exactly child friendly.

3. Red Dead Redemption

This homage to Rockstar's open-world Western manages to perfectly capture the pacing and structure of the game's first trailer, albeit in a much more pixelated fashion.

2. Batman: Arkham City

Majami's take on Arkham City features "actual gameplay footage." It's a clever touch, but the real star here is the Joker soundalike. Seriously, I'm almost certain that's just Mark Hamill with a psudeonym.

1. Max Payne

And here's Majami's most recent video, an homage on the entire Max Payne franchise. It's smart, funny, and most of all, it really makes me hope there's a mod for Max Payne 3 that replaces my gunshots with old-school bloops.
