#10 - Space Age: A Cosmic Adventure

Players are tossed into a role of an astronaut that has landed on a mysterious alien planet in Space Age: A Cosmic Adventure. Your job while on the planet is to explore the world but after landing players learn that the alien planet is currently lived in. Not only will you explore this new world but also dig up the history of these alien creatures all the while keeping your fellow crew members from being captured.  

#9 - The Last Express 

The Last Express is set within 1914 and lets players step into the shoes of Robert Cath, an American Doctor that finds himself wanted by French Police. Believed to be a suspect for the murder of an Irish police officer, Robert Cath decides to board the Orient Express as he makes his way from Paris to Constantinople. While Robert finds himself making an escape to the East, the journey within the train proves to be difficult. 

To assure Robert’s safe arrival, players will be tasked at interacting with thirty characters on board along with puzzle solving the dangers that could possibly be a ploy to take down the train and its passengers. Because the game is non-linear, the story adapts from the choices and actions players make, giving this game a bit of replay value. 

#8 - Broken Sword: Director's Cut

Remade from its original release in 1996, our next pick on the list goes to Broken Sword: The Shadow of Templars – Director’s Cut. The game focuses on a murder within the Palais Royale and a conspiracy that will take players into a journey around the globe. 

Because this is a remake of the original release, Broken Sword: The Shadow of Templars – Director’s Cut adds a few new elements to the title. For starters, players are introduced to a new playable character, Nicole Collard, a journalist, along with the original character George Stobbart. Additionally, new puzzles have been added whereas certain dialogue and cutscenes were removed.

Azriel Odin is an ex-assassin that has turned himself into a law enforcer. In the meantime, across the galaxy Delta-Six wakes up in a hospital with no memory. Fearing that he may lose his entire identity, Delta-Six takes off and attempts to regain his memory along with finding out just who he can trust.

In a world that is only inhabited by robots, players will take control of Josef, a robot that is dumped into the scrapheap where he quickly assembles himself and heads back into the city to confront the Black Cap Brotherhood. This notorious robot gang has plans on blowing up the city tower and has kidnapped Josef’s robot-girlfriend. 

Through a series of puzzles, brain teasers, and mini-games, players will take Josef to stop the Black Cap Brotherhood from their terroristic plot and rescue his significant other. 

#5 - Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a story driven video game that doesn’t focus on players battling their way through a massive war. Instead, Ubisoft developed the video game to showcase four different characters and the effect war plays on them. Each with their own story, the game splits the gameplay up within four main chapters with several sections, all of which is completed through a series of puzzle solving and little mini-games such as driving a vehicle to avoid various obstacles throughout the roads. 

Scattered about within Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a number of facts based on the real war which can only be unlocked as players progress through the game. 

#4 - The Longest Journey

The Longest Journey stars April Ryan, a young woman that is labeled as a ‘Shifter’ which gives her the ability to move between worlds. Because of this unique ability, April becomes tasked with restoring the world’s balance and keeping those within the world safe. This miraculous journey will pin players against puzzles, terrifying creatures, along with meeting new people. With over a hundred locations to discover and over forty hours worth of gameplay, The Longest Journey will keep players busy for the long haul.   

#3 - Broken Age

Broken Age was Tim Schafer’s return to a graphic adventure in over a decade. This adventure story tells the tale of two individuals that live completely different lives but, strangely enough, similar. Vella Tartine was chosen to be sacrificed towards the village monster, as is tradition within this village, though, before the day of execution, she escapes. However, out of this world we have Shay Volta who resides in space where he has a computer monitoring and taking care of ever need imaginable. Desiring to leave his prison and go on a grand adventure, Shay makes the leap of faith and escapes as well. 

#2 - Grim Fandango Remastered

Grim Fandango Remastered focuses on Manny Calavera, a salesman that offers packages to souls that will set them onto their four-year journey to everlasting eternal rest. However, Manny’s world gets turned upside down when a conspiracy could threaten his own salvation. Players will guide Manny out of this mess in order to clear his name from any wrongdoings. Seriously, if you haven’t played the original Grim Fandango then do yourself a favor and pick up the game on iOS.

Remastered with a new art style, musical score, voice over, and a hint system comes The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. The game once again tells the story of a hero on his search for the rumored secret of Monkey Island that could bring out riches to those who are brave enough to complete the journey. However, before players can take on the journey they must prove their worth and complete the trials of becoming a full-fledged pirate.

The Journey Down is an episodic based point-and-click that currently has two chapters released and a third on the way. Bwana and his trusted sidekick Kito are gas station attendants that find their business slowly failing. One day the duo discover an odd underland that could provide answers to the real fate of their long lost father.

Within Blackwell, players take on the role of Rosa Blackwell that finds herself with a new ability. One day Rosa learns that she is a medium, a person that has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. With the help of Joey Mallone, a ghost from the 1930s, Rosa must solve the problems that lurk about thanks to a sinister force. 

BONUS: Myst

Myst is a classic point-and-click based video game that originally released back in 1993 where it was a massive hit with critics and fans alike. The game tosses players into the role of the Stranger who finds their self within the island of Myst. Within the landscapes, players will locate books that have the capability of transporting the protagonist into a new age, each of which will slowly unravel the mysteries and back-story of Myst. Players will also be given specific endings to the game which are all dependent to what actions are taken throughout the story.
