How to get more Attunement Slots in Dark Souls 2

For many Dark Souls 2 players, the number of different types of magic they can use is vital to their success. Others will find the number of casts to be the bigger issue when using magic. What these players, and you, share in common is the need for the Attunement stat, which enhances both of these magic using aspects in Dark Souls 2. Maximise your use of the Attunement stat with this guide.

When playing Dark Souls 2 you will have Attunement slots, which enable players to use more than one type of magic at a time, or increase the number of casts they have for each spell. While the majority of spells needs just one slot, some, such as Chaos pyromancies, Pursuers and Soothing Sunlight, occupy two slots.



To increase the number of Attunement slots players can equip gear, such as the Southern Ritual Band, granting a boost in attunement slots. The main way for players to get magic Attunement slots however, is by allocating points to the Attunement stat.

By boosting their Dark Souls 2 Attunement stat, players benefit greatly. When improving their Attunement players also increase their casting speed, HP (until the stat hits 50), curse resistance and agility. The latter is also enhanced by allocating points to the Adaptability stat, which is explained here in our Adaptability Explained guide. 

The magic Attunement stat ranges from 0 to 99, with the lowest base Attunement stat belonging to the Bandit at 2 and the highest starting Attunement stat belonging to the Sorcerer at 12. Despite the wide range, the soft cap, the level at which adding points becomes less effective, for the number of Dark Souls 2 Attunement slot is 50. The number of casts per spell rises, alongside stats such as agility, when the Attunement stat progresses. However some magic spells with the same base cast count vary, such as 2 and 10. The progressing Dark Souls 2 spell casts start with base level Attunement (ATT) and continues increasing until the stat reaches 94:
