Assassins Creed Unity 3-way power play

Ubisoft's Assassin’s Creed series has developed over years, building its expansive fanbase across the world. Those loyal to the series will know the progressive nature of Assassin’s Creed, but may find themselves at a loss in the next AC title. The upcoming title is Assassin’s Creed Unity, not to be confused with the slightly later release of Assassin’s Creed Rogue that was recently revealed as a game specifically for current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. AC Unity is transforming the virtual assassin’s way of life, introducing an integrated co-op play and new leveling up system. There is much to look out for in the new Assassin’s Creed game and this guide will see you ready to hit the ground running when it is released for PS4 and Xbox One.

Many games already have systems in place with similar natures to that seen in sneak previews of Assassin’s Creed Unity, but it is a new venture for the series. Instead of simply progressing through the game, taking out the troublemakers and fighting for justice, new assassins will have to decide how they want to develop. For the numerically literate gamer, the progression adjustment will be little cause for concern; however everyone else may feel unlucky. Assassin’s Creed Unity will see players spread points across three assassin characteristics. AC gamers will have the chance to boost their navigation, stealth or combat skills. The restrictive nature of this choice will not go down with players who have enjoyed the luxury of increasing all three elements without a second thought.

That being said, there will certainly be some advantages to the choices made by players. Although you will feel disadvantaged in particular scenarios, the integrated nature of Assassin’s Creed Unity co-op play will support you in your endeavors. A perk in the next AC game has been heavily emphasized in the build up to its release, which provides a perfect example of how players can maximize the customizable qualities. AC fans have been told on numerous occasions that they will have flexibility and choice in the way they complete missions in Assassin’s Creed Unity and particularly so in co-op mode. If you prefer to go in for a stealthy approach, you are free to try it and similarly if you are more comfortable heading into a group of enemies and button-mashing your way out, that is up to you too.

As a single player, the choice of how your points are distributed will mean personalizing the gameplay to suit your individual style. If you rarely use stealth tactics, you needn’t bother improving that skill. But the customizable features become even more beneficial when you look at the multiplayer gameplay. If you’re fortunate enough to have friends who possess a different game style to you, assuming you don’t play every game together, then the Assassin’s Creed experience is about to improve dramatically. While you may prefer outright combat, a skilled stealth assassin friend could be based in the wings shooting their way through a gang of opponents. By mixing the different approaches in a co-op gameplay setting, your team can cover all bases and complete missions much easier or harder fashion, depending on your preferences.

However it isn’t only your assassin’s approach that you can customize. Assassin’s Creed Unity will allow you to choose how Arno dresses, once you’ve made some progress through the game of course. Ranging from a hood that enables you to blend into the crowd better, to a belt that can carry additional items, there are some strong advantages to be had from the equipment you choose for Arno.

While the flexibility in your play style will be very beneficial in some respects, there are growing concerns amongst fans. The calculating nature that players will have to adopt in playing Assassin’s Creed has the potential to dampen the spirit of the game. Why would you want to worry about where to allocate your points, when you could be progressing to the next mission and part of the story?
