Unlocking Characters Unlocking Stages Challenge Unlockables Hints and Tips

Unlocking Characters

There are many ways to unlock characters but the normal method is to defeast the character in combat once they have challenged you. It is fairly easy to beat these characters (Difficulty won’t change anything, you can beat them on easy if you wish) if you are familiar with the game. If not then don’t fear, if you cant beat the charater the first time you can rematch them by winning a PvP melee battle, after which they will challenge you again. The trick here is to select the character you are best with to ensure your victory.

Also try to make sure you have equipped moves/items on when you enter classic mode by clicking the wrench (settings) button on the character select screen. This will make it much easier in the long run. Don’t be too upset if you lose a match in classic mode but remember that the intensity gets lowered by 0.5 for each loss suffered in classic mode. The trick to stopping this from causing problems is to set the intensity 0.5 higher than the level you need. So if you are trying to unlock a character that you need to complete it on intensity 4.5 its beter to set the intensity to 5.

ALSO if you complete two character unlocking objectives at the same time (like completing classic mode whilst completing 10 matches and unlocking Falco and Ness challenges) then you will need to beat the first challenge before winning a regular 1v1 battle to get the next unlockable character to challenge you.

How to unlock each character

There are two methods to unlock characters, the first is to play a certain number of VS. matches, either online or against other players or the computer. The other usually consists of a particular task like Beat Classic mode with ten fighters or more on any intensity” which would unlock Mr. Game and Watch.
