One of the new heroes added to Blizzard’s free-to-play MOBA Heroes of the Storm is the Butcher. He’s a huge brute and a boss from the popular Diablo series. The Assassin guide available will help you hone the Butcher into a big, mean, meaty killing machine.
If you need to gain some familiarity with the Butcher before getting into the nitty gritty of build. The Assassin build for the Butcher nearly makes him unstoppable with a decent team and he’s well worth considering as a main if you want to wreck opponents up and down the lanes.
A basic guide for the Butcher can be viewed below courtesy of Squadron. It’s a quick five minute overview of what the character is all about.
For his abilities, ‘Q’ is Hamstring, which deals a base damage of 40 and slows down enemies by 50% over 2 seconds. It costs 50 mana and the cooldown has a base of 4 seconds.
For ‘W’ there’s Butcher’s Brand. It takes 60 mana, has a base cooldown of 14 seconds. It deals 30 damage to an enemy and causes your base attacks against them to heal you for 75% of the damage done for 5 seconds. The healing doubles when you’re facing down against Heroes as opposed to minions.
The Butcher’s ‘E’ attack is Ruthless Onslaught. It costs 70 mana and has a base cooldown of 20 seconds. It sees the Butcher charging at an enemy, becoming unstoppable and gaining movement speed. If you manage to hit your target they get stunned for 1 second and lose 60 damage.
Butcher’s Fresh Meat trait sees Heroes dropping three meat pieces and minions dropping a single piece of meat. The more meat you gather the more strength you have.
Many of the skills are covered in depth by FightinCowboy, which you can check out in the entire half hour match below.
Lamb to the Slaughter is one of the Butcher’s Heroic abilities, which enables him to throw up a hitching post, attach a single hero to it and causes them to stay chained to it, losing 75 base damage and staying stuck there for 4 whole seconds. If you level this ability it’s the perfect way to completely immobilize a powerful opponent and just wail on them while they’re stuck.
The second Heroic ability for the Butcher is Furnace Blast, which sees him shooting out an AOE fire attack that does a base damage of 300 to enemies.
For the Assassin build, you’ll want Invigoration at level 1.
For level 4 you’ll want Unrelenting Pursuit, which cools down Rutheless Onslaught by 40% on impact.
For level 7 you’ll want to up Abattair to increase your Fresh Meat stockpile to 35, and it ensures that you don’t lose all your stacks when you die.
At level 10 you’ll want to go with Furnace Blast for an Assassin build, because it’s all about taking down foes and killing them fast in this case.
At level 13 you’ll want to pick up Crave Flesh to help increase the Butcher’s movement speed.
At level 16 you’ll want to go with Blood Frenzy, which increases your attack speed by 1% per stack.
By the time you hit level 20 you’ll want to go with the passive talent Nexus Blades. It causes basic attacks to deal 20% more damage and slow the target for 1 second.
According to FightinCowboy if you go with Lamb to the Slaughter he suggests going with Slaughterhouse to turn Lamb to the Slaughter from a single CC attack to a group CC attack, chaining down everyone within the area.
