Gears of War: Ultimate Edition makes its debut on the Xbox One and PC via The Coalition and Microsoft Game Studios on August 25th, but there are already character unlock guides available for perusal right now.
YouTuber SASxSHDOWZ has a playlist series of how to unlock each character – 17 supposedly in total – for the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition multiplayer. The series is ever-progressing as he plays through the game and continues to unlock each character. You can check out the playlist guide below on how to unlock the characters, ranging from the pre-order bonus characters, the beta exclusive characters and the level progression characters.
A few examples of the unlocks includes characters like Savage Kantus, which is a character that was only available through pre-ordering before the game released. Also, if you were in Canada you had to pre-order from EB Games in order to gain access to the character.
Characters like Samantha Byrne can be unlocked at level 5 while characters like Chairman Richard Prescott can be unlocked by reaching level 10 in multiplayer.
Some characters are unlocked simply by playing through multiplayer, like Kantus, while other characters like Anya in her civilian clothes or the Savage Grenadier are pre-order bonuses.
Other characters are beta bonus exclusives, where those who participated in the beta will gain access to specific character such as the football themed Cole Train, or the Trashball Drone. Those who participated in the beta will automatically have these characters unlocked when they play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
Many of these characters are pretty easy to unlock and are either tied to multiplayer level progression, pre-order bonuses or having participated in the beta that took place this past summer. For PC gamers there won’t really be any requirements to unlock many of the hidden characters because trainers will made available shortly after the game’s release on PC and PC gamers will be able to play as whoever they want.
Anyway, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a remastered edition of the classic game that launched on the Xbox 360 back in 2006. The multiplayer modes feature characters that were present throughout Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War Judgment.
