As you traverse through the insanely perverse world of Silent Hill, you will stumble upon collectible items called “Mysteries” that will help better explain just what the hell is going on. These items can range from newspaper clippings, memos, and even photos. Given how messed up the town is, any additional information about what it is that is going on is always welcome.
There are a whole bunch of items to find that will grab you the “Silent Hill Historic Society” Achievement/Trophy, so to make things a little bit easier, we have gone through the game and listed the items in the order that you can find them and provided images for each on what each location looks like.

1: Devil’s Pit Pamphlet:
This first item is found as soon as you enter the diner. When you enter the darkened room, look to the right to find the jukebox. On the table to the left of it will be the pamphlet.
2: Watchers Note:
After you reach the basement of the diner area, you will need to smash the lock on a gate to enter the next room. Do so and go to the right to find an area that looks like a living room. On the coffee table, there will be a note detailing the actions of the motels guests in full detail.
3: Newspaper Clipping:
After you have entered the mines, done the water pump puzzle and just after you have pushed the mine cart across the tracks, go down the stairs on the left side and you will find a door that has this newspaper clipping attached to it.
4: Poem:
When you finally reach the train station, but before you actually get on the train for the super creepy ride, look to the left of the stairs that lead into the station to find a person strung up with wires. On his body will be a poem for you to collect.
5: Annual Felony Crime Survey:
When you enter the police station and the room with the dispatch radio on the other side of the beam, there is a door that is boarded up. Break through with the axe beside the door and just on the other side, on the floor, will be this lying there.
6: Police Report:
When you enter the police station through the hole in the wall, go to the left before crossing the beam. In the small room, on the floor will be another mystery in the form of a Boston Police Department Police Report.
7: Crime Scene Photo:
When you are outside of the Police Station, go to the adjacent yard to the east and in the corner closest to Campbell Street will be a large tree with a couple barrels in front of it. On the ground there will be a photo of footprints and the #2.
8: Missing Person:
To the south of the Police Station, there is a house with a large yard to the east of it. In the yard, there will be a garden box with a pole sticking out of it. Look on the south side of the box to find the pamphlet on the ground.
9: Crime scene photo:
After you pull down the ladder, in the backyard of the house at the blockade on Lansdale Ave., go to the right on the balcony and you will find a barrel there. The photo will be slapped on the side of it.
10: Door note:
After climbing the ladder and cross the precarious beams to get over the gorge on Lansdale Ave, you will enter an apartment building. Take the stairs to the top floor and head down the hall. You will come to a door that has a note on it.
11: Newspaper Clipping:
Once you have left the apartment building, head north to Brite st. and go right. Just past the newspaper box on the corner, you will find this newspaper clipping about the prison riots on the ground.
12: Envelope:
At the very north end of Laymond Ave., there will be a split in the road and a blockade. This letter can be found on the right side of the street just before the barriers.
13: Mothers Note:
Once you get the ribbons Side Quest, go to the corner of Lansdale Ave. and Brite St. to find a lunch box sitting on the ground in front of a pole. Inside will be a note that explains how you can find the daughter by following the ribbon color on the streets.
14: Extortion Letter:
When you enter the Art Gallery (just west on Cook St. down the alley there) head down the hall to the second door on the left. Inside will be an office with a couch and a desk. On the arm of the couch, you will find this extortion letter about a piece of art.
15: Appraisal Letter:
In the same office as the Extortion Letter, you can find this note on the desk.
16: Offer Letter:
At the end of the hall from the two previous mystery items, you will find a room full of paintings. Look on the bar where the cash register is, and to the right of it, you will find this letter.
17: Parole Letter:
Go through Logan Park and stick to the left side to come out to the street. When you reach it, go through the door on the left side and you will take this letter from the door as a cutscene plays.
18: Internal Memo:
After you exit the door after the cutscene, you will now be in the Centennial Building. Make your way around to the parking garage and head to the left side to find the police car. Open the passenger door and you’ll find the memo on the seat.
19: State Prison Memo:
After you have taken the lift out of the Centennial Building’s garage and entered the archives, follow them around until you go through a door and enter a large library. Move forward until the ceiling comes down and then go left and then make your way to the right. If you have the UV light, follow the white splotches on the ground. If not, just follow the right side to the back corner to find the memo on the desk there.
20: Employee Review:
When on the second floor of the library, the will be a vault door at the rear with a roman numeral lock. Use the code IX, VI, I, to enter and then check the book in the far corner for the memo.
21: Envelopes:
When you enter room 105 (which you need the security card from 104 to do) there will be a bunch of envelopes on the desk. Arrange them in the right fashion, and you will receive the code as a mystery. (The above image is from doing the puzzle on hard.)
22: Doctor Ad:
Enter room 204 and before climbing to the third floor, take this off the desk in the corner.
23: Psyche Report:
When you enter the Mayor’s office- room 200- the report is located in the cabinet against the wall. Open the drawer and learn more about the mysterious pedo.
24: Newspaper Clipping:
When you reach the movie theatre, go through the alley to the left of it and when you exit the far side, there will be a small fenced area to the right. Enter it and near the back, this will be sitting on the ground.
25: Film Splicing Guidelines:
When you enter the movie theater, head through the hole in the in the washroom and enter the main area. From there, head up the right side of the room and enter the projection booth at the top of the stairs. The film Splicing Guidelines will be on the wall there.
26: Note about Daughter:
When you end the Ribbons side mission, you will get this note from the apartment on Lamont St. just north of the movie theater, that you complete it in. It will be lying on the bed in the mother’s bedroom.
27: Psychiatric Note:
When you complete the Mirror Mirror side mission in the house on the corner of Ketchum and King in the Port District, this note will appear on the ground.
28: Newspaper Clipping:
When you reach the monastery, but before entering it, take the stairs down on the right side and you will come to a large fountain. On the other side of the fountain will be a bench with this clipping sitting on the ground in front of it.
29: Funeral Announcement:
When you enter the house on the north side of Rice St., located before you reach the entrance to the docks, go to the second floor and enter the master bedroom. In here, sitting on the corner of the bed will be the funeral notice.
30: Pier Photo:
In the same house as the Funeral Announcement, go to the first floor and enter the door there. On the table, under the bowling plaque will be a photo of the pier where you can take the urn for the Ashes to Ashes side mission.
31: Corruption Clipping:
This is found on the porch of the house directly east of the van on the side of the road. You will see this when you first make your way to Rice St.
32: Poem Fragment 1:
When you enter the chapel, cut the rope on the chandelier and then pull and push it into the gate. When it breaks open, grab the book off the stand.
33: Letter:
Once you are exploring the monastery’s main area, go to the far east side and enter the Class room to find the letter on the desk.
34: Play Script:
When you enter the theater in the monastery, lower the ladder at the rear of the room and climb up. Go to the far side of the room to find the page on the small table there.
35: Poem Fragment 2:
Once you have the theater show running, you will need to go down and enter the cabin that was once on the stage. When you do, solve the picture puzzle on the chest at the rear of the room and when you open it, you will receive the fragment.
36: Father’s Day Card:
When you go up to the second story, you will come to a gate with a little girl behind it. Go through and go left to the hallway there. Enter the door on the right to enter a darkroom full of dolls. In the far right corner, the card will be on a table.
37: Psychiatric Evaluation:
On the second floor of the monastery, this can be found in the room between the class room and the playroom.
38: Psychiatric
Evaluation 2:
Enter the room to the north of the playroom and you can find this in the drawer of the cabinet to the left.
39: Surgery Note:
As soon as you enter the hospice, this will be immediately on the coffee table to the right.
40: Key Note:
As soon as you enter the room north of the surgery room with the three corpses, look to the left. On the table in the corner there will be a note about a key.
41: Poem Fragment 3:
When you in the room to the north of the Surgery room, you will need to roll each of the Screamers into the x-ray machine to see who has the key in tem. When you find which one it is, reach inside them to get the key and this piece of paper.
42: Lobotomy Note:
When you exit the x-ray room, go to the north and there will be an office with a dresser on the left side. Open the drawer to find the note and a health pack.
43: Shower Note:
When you step out of your cell, go to the right and a piece of paper will fly out from the stairwell to the walkway. Pick it up and it will be a note to meet in the showers.
44: Evaluation:
Enter the booth in the center of the prison by crossing the beam and then climb down the ladder. Go down the set of stairs there and once at the bottom, you can find this on the desk against the wall to the right of the combination locker.
45: Letter from Ricky:
After you get the keycard from the dead guard, go through the large door and head for the east side. You can find this note in the second cell on level A3.
46: Letter From Carol:
When you make your way down the stairs to block A2, you will go down a corridor where a ball bounces out of a cell. Enter that cell and follow it to the far side. Once you reach it, the letter will be on the table to the left.
47: Letter from Rick 2:
You can find this letter in the first cell on the east side of block A2. When you enter the cell, move the shelving unit at the rear of the cell and then pull off the poster to find it.
48: Boston Police Memo:
When you are on block A3 after encountering the juggernauts, cross the electrified walkway and enter the security room which is located on the far east side. When in the room, look for the cabinet around the corner and open the drawer.
49: Article:
When you hit the red button in the security room, it will open the Checkout zone. Go through there and then squeeze through the sliding door. Once on the other side, open the locker to find the article in there.
50: Suicide Note:
When you pass through the checkout zone and into the next area, you’ll run into a Juggernaut and his “dogs”. Once you deal with them, enter the blue colored cell on the left side to find this note.
51: Work Release Form:
When you enter the workshop, go to the second room with equipment and against the wall will be a drill press. Beside it, on a cabinet will be the form.
52: Letter from Rick 3:
When you pass through the 2 workshops, you’ll come to a small room at end with a forensics flashlight in it. Grab the letter from the ground to the right of the locker.
53: Headline:
After the scene from the past, go through the gate with the security card and go up the stairs to the day room. As soon as you enter, grab the clipping off the table.
54: Notification:
Directly to the right of the table where the previous mystery was, there will be a locker with this memo on the ground.
