Fallout 4 by Bethesda for PS4, PC and Xbox One just came out, and for those that might feel overwhelmed setting foot into the wastelands of Boston, Massachusetts, will have a nice guide waiting for them. In this Fallout 4 guide, folks will be informed on some common tips to get them through the dangerous post-nuclear land.

Without spoiling the game for those that still want that mystery ahead of them, this guide will teach you some simple things to help you make the most of your run throughout Fallout 4. This will cover items, making friends, making more money and much more to help you out in the long run.

Pilfer, Scavenge And Take Anything You Can Get A Hold Of:

In this iteration of Fallout, players will have to build on existing weapons instead of finding weapon blueprints. This means it is different from Fallout 3 and how you upgrade and build things. Folks will have to use equipment and parts found when scavenging to upgrade armor, weapons, farms and other types of buildings like settlements.

Furthermore, just loot every single thing you come across so that you can have extra when you need it. You can store all of you findings in the workshop, which will show you all of your items in a sorted list when you need it. So just keep scavenging loot whenever you can.

Trade As Much Ammo As Possible:

There will be a limit to how much you can carry, even if you have a lot of strength. So if you have a good amount of armor, you won’t be able to drag a list load of guns with you. By experimenting and finding what works for you will eventually lead you to your go-to weapons that will get you out of any sticky situation.

Once you find those useful weapons, it’s worth piling up as many rounds of ammo you don’t use so that you can trade them in for better stuff. Since ammo is everywhere, you will earn one cap per ammo you give to the trader. So grab as much ammo that you aren’t using and trade it off.

Eating For Free:

Every creature you come across can be eaten, and sometimes they retain special properties when eaten. This will help out if you are running low on Stimpacks, which heals you quickly; but is quite expansive if used too often. By cooking the radiated enemies of the wasteland it will give you a nice supply of food so you won’t have to keep buying Stimpacks, or creating them at the Chemistry Station.

Extra Arms Are Better than None:

You can pay for companions, save folks so that they can become companions or find some that are just willing to take a bullet for you. Do make friends or keep a four-legged friend by your side, it’s really worth it. Something else that might come in handy, companions hone useful skills that you can use to your advantage, which some have traits that you might not be good at.

However, there are some folks that will betray you, so caution should be used when befriending people. With that said, using a little back-bone in a conversation isn’t anything to be frowned upon, but try to make as many good friends as possible, you never know who might help you.

Perks And Their Properties:

In Fallout 4 you will have no max level cap, just a limit on spending all 270+ skill points to unlock every level of any perk. Although it is a good ideal to have a base of what you want your character to be, you will eventually make it to a point where you can unlock everything. But, if you are finding some problems here and there, it is best to read what perk does what so that you can counter that problem.

In addition, if you have problems with carrying more stuff get Strong Back. If you want to search every nook and cranny, raise your Perception, Hacker and Locksmith perks up. And if you want to be a good gun or weapon maker, raise the Blacksmith, Science, Gun Nut and Armorer perks up. Make sure though you pick your perks wisely, though.

Weapon Properties To Be Aware Of:

Legendary weapons or items that cannot be scrapped, but they can be altered or modified to your liking. When modifying Legendary stuff, you can receive some pretty awesome buffs like damage boost, and other advantages in battles. Folks can also coat armor parts to increase their sneaking ability, resistance, and other defense based stats. So in other words, experiment when you have the materials to do so.

Before concluding this guide, ShoddyCast made a nice video showing eight tips for those starting off. The video isn’t long but points out some pretty useful tips on how to survive in the wasteland.

And lastly, the game will always Autosave when you enter a new area, or you can use the Quicksave. Make sure you Quicksave before any action or major decision, this will prove to be useful since if you screw up, at least you can revert to the last Quicksave to right your wrongs.
