Fruit Ninja Guide

Fruit Ninja Walkthrough

Fruit Ninja Unofficial Guide by Mongoose General for

Fruit Ninja is a very simple game with incredibly addictive play and multiple release platforms. This guide will focus on the iOS and Android versions.

The idea of the game is to use your finger on the touch-screen of your device to slice across fruit as it is thrown up into the center of the screen. Your finger effectively acts as a sword. There are bombs to avoid, making play more difficult, as well as multiple modes.

In a Nutshell - The Basics!

Failure:

The game ends when you have missed three pieces of fruit. These can be spaced apart by any amount, so letting any pieces of fruit through your clutches is a very bad move. If you strike a bomb with your sword, you suffer an instant failure.

Combos:

You should aim to slice across as many items of fruit as possible. This can give you a combo bonus, also known as a Blitz. There are a variety of levels to the Blitz, each of which rewards you with a bonus equal to the level multiplied by five. These levels are below:

Combo Blitz: - Get 3 Combos - Bonus now equals 5
Great Blitz: - Get 6 Combos - Bonus now equals 10
Awesome Blitz: - Get 9 Combos  - Bonus now equals 15
Super Blitz: - Get 12 Combos  - Bonus now equals 20
Hyper Blitz: - Get 15 Combos  - Bonus now equals 25
Unbelievable Blitz: - Get 18 Combos - Bonus now equals 30

Extra Lives:

You are rewarded with an extra life once your score reaches a multiple of 100.

Game Modes

Classic Mode:

This is the standard Fruit Ninja game mode, complete with all fruit, bombs and standard play.

Arcade Mode:

In Arcade mode, you have just 60 seconds in which to get a high score. This mode is further made unique by the bananas which are thrown onto the screen. These can alter your combos, for example creating double points for a set period of time.

Zen Mode:

This mode allows you to play the game without having to worry about the bombs invading your screen.

At the end of Arcade mode, a Pomegranate appears on screen, which you can slice multiple times for extra points.

Multiplayer:

When playing against another player, you are only allowed to slice the fruit in blue and the fruits marked with white. Red fruit is your opponent's and should be avoided.

Fruit

Below is a list of fruit in Fruit Ninja, including all of the regular fruit that makes up the general slicing gameplay:

Regular Fruit:

Watermelons
Mangoes
Pineapples
Coconuts
Strawberries
Red Apples
Green Apples
Kiwis
Yellow Bananas
Lemons
Limes
Oranges
Plums
Pears
Passionfruits
Peaches

Special Fruit:

Dragon Fruits/Pitayas:

These are incredibly rare fruits which reward you with 50 points if you slice them. It can show up in Classic and Arcade modes, but many players will never even encounter it without a lot of play time.

Pomegranates:

These can appear during both Classic and Arcade modes. In Arcade mode, one always appears at the end of the round. In Classic mode, the appearance is random. You can slice them as many times as possible for extra points. They will eventually explode, destroying everything on screen.

Magic Beans - These add 25 points, or can give you an extra life.

Pooja Coconuts - These take two or more slices to destroy.

Blue Aura Fruit - These add one point to your fruit.

Red Aura Fruit - These subtract three points from your Opponent's Fruit.

White Aura Fruit - These can add three points to anyone's Fruit.

Starfruit - You can use these to purchase new blades and other unlockables.

Tiny Fruit - These are tricky as they cannot be destroyed until you have sliced all larger fruits.

Mega Fruit - These split into 2 Giant Fruit once it has been sliced.

Giant Fruit - These split into 2 Grand Fruits once it has been sliced.

Grand Fruit - These split into 2 Big Fruits once it has been sliced.

Big Fruit - These spilt into 2 fruits once it has been sliced.

Bonus Bananas:

Double Bananas - These double the score.

Frenzy Bananas - These cause a frenzy of fruit to occur.

Freeze Bananas - These slow down time, the appearance of bombs, and the speed of incoming fruits.

Bombs

Red Bombs:

These always result in failure if they are accidentally sliced by the player. If you struggle to get good scores because you are setting off bombs, you can play Zen mode to enjoy the game without them.

A bomb will always appear immediately after six fruits.

Purple Bombs:

These are not as disastrous as Red Bombs, because they do not result in instant failure. If you strike one of the game's purple bombs, you lose 10 points, suffer the removal of all fruits on screen, without receiving any points, and lose the effects of any currently active Bonus Bananas.

Dojo

The Dojo section of Fruit Ninja is the place to view your unlockables and extra blades. Below is a list of the items that you can unlock in the Sensei's Swag section of the Dojo:

Unlockables:

Unlockable Blades:

Original Blade: This is your starting blade.

Shiny Red Blade: You unlock this upon first checking Sensei's Swag.

Disco Blade: Slice 50 bananas.

Mr Sparkle Blade: Slice three pineapples in a row while playing Classic Mode. TIP: This is very difficult to get and you are relying on the game's fruit placement to be kind to you. If two pineapples come up together, slice them both and then hope that the next fruit up is another pineapple. Note: in the Lite version, you must finish a round on exactly 42 points (42 being the meaning of life) to get this particular blade.

Old Glory Blade: Complete a game having earned exactly 50 points.

Butterfly Knife Blade: Get a combo involving a strawberry 40 times.

Flame Blade: Get a combo after the bell rings while playing Zen Mode.

Ice Blade: Get 20 Freeze Bananas while playing Arcade Mode.

Shadow Blade: These achievements are different between iOS and Anroid, so look at the correct achievement for your device.

iOS: Achieve a final score of 175 while playing UPSIDE DOWN in Zen mode. TIP: To make it so that your device is able to turn upside down, you need to toggle 'orientation lock' in your iOS device's settings. If you go into Sensei's Swag and look for this achievement, you will notice the upside down bit is in red. Turn your device upside down and it should go green, showing that you can now earn the achievement.

Android: Achieve a final score of exactly 234 in Arcade Mode (while playing the right way up). TIP: If you are struggling with this one, try aiming for a finish of 204, as you normally get a 30 points bonus at the end of the round. Keep an eye on what your normal bonuses are and then aim for a final score of 234 minus those bonuses.

Pixel Love Blade: Get 50 combos while playing Classic Mode.

Piano Blade: Slice 100 critical hits.

Party Time Blade: Slice every strawberry but nothing else while playing Arcade Mode.

Bamboo Shoot Blade: Play a full Zen Mode game every day for five days.

Firecracker Blade: To get this secretive blade you must earn the same score as the year of the Battle of the Red Cliffs. This was 208 AD. So you need to get 208 points in Classic mode.

Note that all of the above are for the FULL version of Fruit Ninja unless stated otherwise. The Lite version requires different criteria to get the unlockables, and also only features a selection of those listed above.

Unlockable Backgrounds:

Original Wood Background: This is unlocked automatically.

Fruit Ninja Background: Earn 125 points without dropping a fruit in Classic Mode.

I Heart Sensei Background: Read 3 different strawberry fruit facts. Note: To get these fruit facts, play in Zen mode and slice a majority of strawberries and you should receive a fun strawberry fact.

Great Wave Background: Slice 250 Watermelons.

Yin Yang Background: Slice 75 Passion fruits.

Other Tips

When to slice - you should aim to slice the fruit once it reaches the top of its journey. This is when it is either moving at its slowest or completely staionery, making hitting it easier.

Aiming - the best tactic for aiming at the fruit is to slice diagonally. This gives you better coverage up-to-down and so increases your likelihood of scoring a hit.

Finger connection - when playing Fruit Ninja, it is important to ensure the game recognizes that your finger is connected to the screen and that it picks it up properly. To do this, you should keep it moving on the screen whenever there is no fruit. This will also allow you to react quickly to any fast fruit. Try to keep your finger touching the screen as much as possible.

How to get High Scores - A trait required in order to achieve a high score in Fruit Ninja is patience. Even if you have a brilliant round, the random placement of the bonus items may well mean you have, through no fault of your own, been given a harder time trying to get a high score.

Battle of Red Cliffs - Getting the Firecracker Blade

The year of 208 A.D. Hosted the Battle of Red Cliffs. So to achieve the score to attain the firecracker blade you must achieve a score of exactly 208 in either zen mode, arcade mode, or if you have the lite version you can get this blade on classic mode.

You'll get the Firecracker Blade if you can finish a game (in any mode) with a score of exactly 208. This is because the year of the battle of the red cliffs was 208 AD.
