The current king of adventure gaming Telltale is tackling a more mature subject with The Walking Dead, an episodic series in five parts telling a side-story to the popular comics and television show. What sets the franchise apart from other undead apocalypse stories are the characters and focus on their struggle to survive in a horrible new reality. Instead of an action game, The Walking Dead puts you in control of a single man leading a group of survivors.
Talking is key to surviving, and you’ll have to make tough decisions. Between the discussions and puzzle-solving common to adventure games, there are action sequences where you must fight off or escape from the undead menace. There’s a lot going on in The Walking Dead, that’s why the zombie experts at Game Front are here to provide you with a walkthrough below.

The Walking Dead Walkthrough
The Car
In case you’re unaware, this is a spin-off of the comic, not anything to do with the TV show, just in case that affects your interest in the game.
If you want your game experience to be more like LA Noire, turn off the helper UI. Just as the game says at the beginning, your decisions will change how the game turns out. I’ll tell you what I did and what happened, but I’ll keep the spoilers to a minimum. That should help you decide if you want to take different steps than I did.
The driver will start a conversation with you. There are two simple responses, but you do have a time limit. Follow the instruction to look around and then you’ll make eye contact with the driver to keep talking. There’s another response. Ask him about Macon to make a connection.
Couple more small conversation elements and you’ll yell at the driver just before things get exciting. Bust out the car window, look at it, then pull yourself out. Grab the shotgun the cop dropped, and then look for a shotgun shell right next to it. The cop you can examine, but get close enough and the screen will change to a closer shot of him.
Grab the keys to free yourself, and then follow the instructions to free yourself and, eventually, experience your first combat. You earn an Achievement for 10 points.
Look at the cop, then follow a line straight up from him to look at another individual. Soon the game will take over and move you to the next area.

The House
Look around the yard, head up to the glass door on the porch and interact with it. After looking at it, you can pull it open.
Interact with the answering machine in the house. There’s a drawer in the kitchen, interact with that next. This leads to a conversation. A quicktime event is coming up now, where you’ll mash one button and then have to immediately hit another to successfully complete it. Keep looking for actions you can take, and interact with the little girl as soon as you can. Then the action is up to you. That will also earn you an Achievement.
You’ll have two conversation options here, the second of which is a substantial decision, leave the house now or wait until dark. I chose to leave now.
Head for the gate to leave the back yard and then you’ll encounter some new people. Help them clear a car from the road to get out of the area and earn another Achievement.

The Farm
Shawn will introduce you to his dad for a brief conversation and then you’ll get your leg treated. That will lead to a longer conversation with Herschel while you’re being fixed up.
Time to meet new people. You can free roam the farm now, talk to everyone you can. Talk to Herschel in the barn last.
Now you will have a very difficult decision, as whoever you don’t choose to help isn’t going to make it. Achievement unlocked for getting here, but it won’t feel much like a reward.
The Walking Dead Walkthrough
Macon
You’ll enter a very awkward conversation very quickly. There will be some very hard decisions to make, and things come to a very dramatic conclusion. After that, grab the energy bar, look at the newspaper and talk to Carely. She’s working on a radio. Flip it over to find out there are no batteries. You’ll need to find some. Give an energy bar to Clementine and then go talk to old guy and his daughter. When you’re done, head to the front to go outside.
Note the door to the office and check it out. Inside, move the pallet, check out the first aid kit, and move the desk. Head back to the first aid kit, and you can pick up a photo and examine the bed on the floor along the way. Carely will come in for a chat, I chose to be honest with her and have her trust me. Then put the bandage on Clementine.
Head back in and talk to Duck and his family. There’s another energy bar to grab, too. That’ll lead to a conversation with Kenny. God this game is chipper, huh?
Now you’ll have to head out to rescue Glen. Feel free to have a chat with Clementine and hand out some energy bars before you head out. Inside the gate you’ll have a chance to look around. There’s a hardware store and a TV store across the way. The gate is locked, and directly beyond it is a trapped walker. Use the picture to prove that he works at the drugstore. Head back in, grab Carley, and head out again.
The Walking Dead Walkthrough
The Motel
Use the L stick to grab a quick view. Note the alcove across from you. Lean out to the left to find a pillow. Look to the right to spot a truck and then sneak there. Annoyingly, the up and right controls take you to the same place. Look into the truck to spot a weapon that you can’t get yet. Talk to Carley and Glen for your next clue. Lean out to the left, spot the sitting zombie, and click the pillow on him.
Look in the car to unlock the gear shirt and pick up a spark plug. In case you’re not a street criminal, you can very effectively use a spark plug to break a car window. Now you have a weapon. Go back to the car and push it. Then head back to the brick wall and “pick” the zombie off. You’ll have just a small window of time to achieve the kill effectively.
Head over to the RV for your last kill. Wait for him, and expect to have to attack twice to put him down. Pick the last zombie so you can grab the axe. Head up the stairs and be quick with the joystick and button to put the final two zombies down. Use the axe on the door once to break into it. Then you’ll have another hard scene, which ends with an Achievement.
The Walking Dead Walkthrough
The Drugstore
Head into the office. Open the drawer to find a remote. Then head outside. Use the axe to open the lock, push the gate open. Pick up the brick just outside the gate and chuck it at the TV store. Now use the remote on the TV store. Brilliant!
Head across to your brother. Do what has to be done, then interact with him to find the keys. You get an Achievement for your accomplishment.
Now it’s time to head for the back office and get some drugs! When the cutscene is done, head for the door to help hold it, respond to Doug, and then interact with the door again. You’ll have to hold the door while Clementine goes for help. As soon as she shows up, interact with her and then the door. Then there’s a choice to be made and then you’ll have to attack a zombie to save Clementine. Then head for the exit.
Approach Glen. Then approach Kenny. After that, head toward the camera for one more interaction. Then approach the kids. After that, your team will have a plan. Oops.
