    Game Basics

Time
New In Town revolves around the concept of having limited time and spending time wisely while conducting your daily activities. You have the luxury of doing whatever you want to do during your day for as long as your time limit allows it. Once your time runs out, your virtual day ends, and you need to go home to your apartment to rest.

Take note of the following basic rules to maximize the daily time allotted for your character:

  • Your day starts with a base of 1,000 units.
  • Early bed bonus – end the day with unused time, and you will receive 50 extra time units when you start the next day.
  • Eat something – make sure to eat something between your daily routine. Going home and resting without having eaten anything would automatically cost you 100 time units, which will be deducted from your base time for the following day.
  • The 100 rule – All actions in the game, regardless of what it may be, uses up 100 time units. You can, however, still perform one more action if you 1 to 99 time units left.
  • Visiting – no time units will be deducted for visiting and performing actions at the towns of your friends. You will, however, be given a limited number of actions that you can perform at their towns.
  • Additional time – you can go to a health center to increase the amount of time units available for you.

Types of Days
Live your days to the fullest by making sure that you get the maximum number of time units at the start of each day. The time units allotted in New in Town depends on the success or failure of the previous day. But how many days are given to the player in one sitting?

Green bar – day counter for regular working days. When a new day begins, the day counter will decrease by one, but you are given another set of time units to use. A player is usually given a maximum of four working days that he can use to play with, but the game automatically recharges every 30 minutes.

Purple bar – day counter for leisure days. As soon as you run out regular working days you will be given four leisure days to spend with basic actions such as running around town, shopping, eating, and visiting. Working, however, will not be allowed. It is essential to save up for leisure days, so you will have the resources to spend on your desired activities.

Level up – leveling up will result to an incentive of one additional working day regardless of how many regular days you have left. As such, it is possible to have five working days on your green bar.

Actual days – New in Town has a different timeline and is not in any way related to the player’s actual days. If you stop playing on a Friday and resume the game the following week, the game will start from where you left off.

Getting Around
Time is precious in New in Town, and even your daily commute from one place to another will cost you time units. Hovering your mouse over a desired location would reveal the number of time units you will need to spend just to get there. To save time, it is thus advisable to purchase a vehicle. Riding a bike, for instance, would significantly reduce the number of time units you will need to spend to get to your destination.

  • Work and School – Get a job in order to pay for bills! Improve your skills by going to school!
  • Get a job – go to the City Hall to view job availability. Hovering the mouse over a specific job will reveal the requirements as well as the wage to be earned. You may accept the job if all requirements are met.
  • Earn money – back on the map, go to your job by looking for the dollar sign. Once there, you may click on the character with another dollar sign (your boss) to perform your job and to earn your money.
  • Expertise – the “until expert” bar indicates the number of times you need to perform an action to become an expert. Achieving expert status would not only give you a pay incentive of $1 but will also qualify you for a higher paying job.
  • School – gain expertise by developing your skills. To improve intelligence and practicality, you will need to go to the local college and enroll in a self improvement class. These skills may also help you get a higher paying job.

Happiness
A yellow bar on top of your screen will indicate your New in Town happiness level. Happiness can be improved by activities such as eating, shopping, and animal petting. Unlock more areas in the game to increase the number of leisurely places.

  • Stay happy – make sure that your happiness level stays over 750. Having anything less than this by the end of the day will have a direct impact to the base time of the following day. Every point below 750 will be automatically deducted.
  • Happiness at work – working will cost you 60 happiness points for each action, so make sure to stay happy.
  • Eating – you may only eat once a day, but the quality of food you take will have a direct correlation to the amount of happiness it will bring.
