Twisted Metal PS3: Boss Fights Walkthrough [Guide]

This eighth installment of Twisted Metal will really put you into shock. Most of the fans truly expect something to be similar with the previous versions, but this new one will really drive you wild for it’s difficult free-for-all and especially the boss encounters. Some will get you frustrated, but in the long run, if you manage to get all of them, I bet you’ll set a party for it.

Before starting, you should keep in mind that in normal difficulty, you will be granted a checkpoint at the beginning of each phase or section of each boss fight, while hard and twisted difficulties don’t. So if you plan to beat the game on twisted difficulty because of the craving to unlock Warthog, take note that you’ll have to do each of the ten minutes or more minute encounters like a god. So, those who need anger management, please don’t attempt to play the game in the hardest difficulty… chances are, you might kill someone!

There are three boss encounters in the game. Follow the guide below in order to conquer all of them:

The Brothers Grimm

As soon as The Brothers Grimm show up, you will be shocked. Two enormous monster trucks is what you’ll be facing this time. You have to be skilled before facing these two beasts in order for you to be successful. This guide will aid in increasing the odds of defeating The Brothers Grimm Boss in the game.

1. So, this is the last boss in the Sweet Tooth campaign. Basically, the best strategy to use in the early part of the fight is to go around the map and collect weapons. This is because they don’t have any ranged attacks except for those easy to dodge missiles. Now, that would be a great way to start because you don’t actually start with enough firepower to damage them and in order to get to the second stage of the fight, you’ll just have to defeat one of them. In this guide, the yellow one was the main focus at the start. But it doesn’t really matter which one you want to take down first. Okay so, just ride around and when you think you’ve get enough weapons, just focus on one of them.

2. Doing the said strategy will not only get you a lot of weapons but  also your “special” will be charging up as well. In this case, you’ll have multiple specials. In this mission, Roadkill is probably the best vehicle at the moment and it will automatically choose that car for this fight anyway. If you’ve practiced on Death Warrant, you’re probably familiar on driving with Roadkill for they are somewhat identical in terms of abilities, etc.

3. There is one attack that you’ll have to worry about and it’s the wave attack. It really deals a lot of damage and even playing on normal mode sure hurts, what more on the twisted difficulty? It would probably deal half of your health, so watch out for that.

4. If ever you run low on health, there are Health Pickups scattered on some parts of the map. So, continue focusing on one of the brothers and when you successfully defeat one, you’ll proceed to the next part of the stage. In this guide, I was lucky to pick up one of the Mega-Bullets Pickups for the minigun which is good at damaging the boss heavily.

5. At the second part of this fight, you’ll see that the remaining Grim Brother will be covered with some heavy armor. That would seem not that good for you obviously. Now, all you want to do is to get underneath the bosses car. If you notice that your specials are cooling down, so…. under the car is a pretty safe place to stay. But in this section, it won’t be just an option for you to go underneath the car, you really HAVE to. You have to drop your buddy there for him to plant some C4. Also, they spawn weapons under the car for you to pick up as well.

6. Now, after you’ve stayed long enough under that car and your buddy has successfully jumped underneath the car, all you have to do now is to run away for about a minute while his planting the bomb. Wait until the percentage is up to a hundred. And after he plants the C4, you’ll have to screw the boss up a bit until he blows up. But what the C4 really does is remove the extra armor. You’ll still have to fight him after that.

7. Once the armor is off, he still has the same abilities so you just basically have to kill him as if he was by himself. It’s just like the first stage of the fight, the only difference is you’ll just have to fight one of the set of two. So, just do what you did in the first place and you’ll eventually defeat him, thus, unlocking Talon.

Iron Maiden

In this course of the game, you’ll be fighting a lady boss called the Iron Maiden. Sounds easy huh? Well, don’t take her like that because she’s considered by many to be the most difficult of all the three bosses in the game. You will be guided on how to defeat her here, so read this below:

1. In this boss fight, you really have to move swiftly. This time, you have the option to choose whatever vehicle you wish to use. So, pick your favorite or what you’re best with. Just make sure that you choose a vehicle that has a speed of two or more since speed plays an important role in the battle. As shown below, in this guide, we’ll be using reaper.

2. Now, this is the end of the Mr. Grim campaign. So, this is somewhat like a game of nuke mode. There are basically four cars that spawn, three of them are the white and the other one left is red, you’ll find a faction leader where you have to capture. You don’t really need to kill the white ones but it is recommended to do so as they could be a pain-in-the-ass , in the endl. It would be hard to launch a nuke with those around.

3. Once you take care of the cars and possess the faction leader, all you have to do now is drive her to the launcher as if it were on nuke mode. What you need to worry about is that the Iron Maiden will launch her Fireballs at you once you are at the process of sacrificing the faction leader. Just see to it that you dodge the fireballs!! This is easy to do because they don’t follow you, they just go straight so try to steer a bit. Another thing is that she’ll run around a lot which is the most frustrating part. So, after you shoot the nuke at her, she won’t just let you hit her easily. You’ll have to fly around to her. Strategically aim the nuke so that it runs towards her because again, she’ll be running away the whole time.

4. If you’re afraid to get hit, of course dodge all of those missiles as well. But if you do get hit, try to quickly activate your shield in order for you to take lesser damage from those missiles. There are also Health Pickups located at different sections of the map where you can restore your health. Now, you’ll have to repeat the process of sending the nukes because you’ll have to do this twice before anything happens. The cars will respawn when you hit her for the first time. It’s basically the same process. So, when your nuke is launched, you have to evade those fireballs she launches because if your missile does get hit, it will receive a decent amount of damage.

5. Once you do hit her for the second time, she’ll now be vulnerable to attacks. You only need to deal three-fourths of her health in order to advance to the next phase of this boss fight. As shown in this guide, it’s pretty easy to hit her with those flame saws of Reaper because she doesn’t move that fast and she’s huge obviously.

6. So, if you are now at the next phase, you’ll notice that she has this forty second self-destruct timer and it only counts out when you are out of the grid. Now the only difficult part of this section is enabling yourself to stay within the grid and using your shield at the right time to avoid damage while you are inside the grid.

7. When you get her health really low, you will then advance to the next part of the fight where she’ll be hanging on the bridge. Here, be very cautious because she will send these shockwaves that will knock you off the bridge. But other than that, she’s really stationary, so it’s easy to destroy her. Once you do, you’ll send her to the last phase of the fight.

8. Now, she’ll be falling off the bridge and here you will think that the fight is already over. However, she’ll still come floating in the air but it’s just the head. She’s really vulnerable, taking high damage from your attacks since she isn’t complete now. Once you defeat her, she’s done for good. The trophy will pop out and you’ll gain access to your newest vehicle which is Darkside.

Sweet Tooth’s Carnival of Carnage

We are in to the last boss of Twisted Metal PS3. You’ll notice that it’s kind of unique because in the start alone, there are no directions given on how this can be done. This is probably the most time consuming of all the bosses in the game, if you don’t now the strategy, follow the guide below:

1. The fight is somewhat unique in some way because here, they don’t explain anything on how you have to win and progress through the actual boss fight. But basically, you’ll get how it works for you can see the health bar and you also see the head of the clown that shows itself periodically.

2. If you get low in health, Health Pickups can be located in between those massive wheels. So, just drive through those and pick them up to restore yourself. Also different weapons can be picked up as well under there. Every now and then, Sweet Tooth’s head will pop down which doesn’t have that much health so just lock on and you’ll have to hit it a few times and that should do it.

3. What you want to watch out for are those machine guns every time you drive in between those wheels. You’ll take a huge amount of damage from those but if your health runs low or to avoid that from happening, you can always use your shields to counter. It also drops bombs down from these ramps that bounce around, you need to dodge these. If you get really close to the head when it pops down, it will shoot a flame thrower at you which you won’t want to experience as it deals pretty heavy damage.

4. When you defeat Sweet Tooth’s head, you’ll go to a cut scene where you’ll be brought to a somewhat large pinball game. You’ll see these little clowns that run around with chainsaws. You will want to get on your car, and all you have to do is hit one of those bumpers on the pinball board and they’ll get thrown off. You need to really get past this part. By the way, you can shoot those wicked clowns whenever your machine gun is ready. So, you’ll hit the bull’s eye and one of those clowns with a bomb will come out. Then, you want to ride on one of those ramps leading to Sweet Tooth’s face. Once you do this, you’ll go into slow motion and you’ll take out one of the eyes.

5. There is a timer on the clowns with the bombs, so make sure that you go to the ramps quick enough before they explode. If you don’t,  such a mistake will cost you some decent damage if the bomb guys manage a hit on you.
Note: Again if one of the chainsaw guys get on you, you just simply hit a bumper and this will send them away. Another is that, you can see some bumpers with the health symbol on it. If you run into those, it would turn the red bumpers into blue, then you can run on them and replenish your health. Now, if you run into the bumpers normally, they’ll do some explosive damage.

6. After you hit Sweet Tooth’s face three times, you are taken directly to the next part of the fight. So, the most important thing that you need to remember in this section is that, this is not a race. BE PATIENT! Take your time because you’ll run into lots of traps if you rush yourself. There’s no timer so make sure you avoid the blades of the fans and the balls that jump around. Also avoid those saws and flames. But if you get hit by some of the traps mentioned earlier, there are Health Pickup along the way for you to get.

7. The most dangerous part of this section is where you reach the spiked balls like that of a flail. Normally, if you get hit by them, you get massive damage and die quickly. So, be sure to be cautious and again, take your time in order for you to avoid this. Use your boost here to go through and then hit the brakes as well when you arrive at a safe spot.

8. After those, you’ll meet some pretty sharp axes. Same as to what you’ve done on those spiked balls, hit your turbo once the axes goes up because in a split second they’ll strike to the ground. Then, there are a few more fans that you’ll encounter afterward. And the last part, which is one crusher.

9. After you conquer all those traps, you’ll go to another cut scene and eventually to the last portion of the fight where you’ll be playing as a Talon. Basically you’ll have to destroy the Sweet Tooth head. Now, it does take a little bit of damage from normal weapons but that is not the best way to kill it. You’ll see a number of Sweet Tooths flying around, and all you want to do is to hurt on enough for it to go to this timer phase. You’ll see a pink timer ticking around them which will show up on your screen. Now, you’ll have to pick it up with your tractor beam and then drop it on the top of the boss’ head. Do this several times until you defeat the boss!
