Slayin Walkthrough [Guide]

Slayin lets players take on the role of a hero as he battles minotaurs, dragons, and other creatures to ensure the safety of his town. The game is reminiscent of old school, 8-bit, retro side scrolling games of yesteryear, along with the permanent game mechanic – there are no continues, and you lose all progress when your character dies. Despite the simple graphics, Slayin is a great game to play that will test your reflexes as well as your patience. How long can you go with Slayin? Choose a hero and find out.

Gameplay

Slayin allows players to select from one of three possible characters, namely knight, mage, and knave. While they have different statistics, they are pretty negligible, although their manner of attack may be useful depending on your style of play. Controls simply include walking left and right, and jumping over enemies in order to avoid getting touched and taking damage. To deal damage, in turn, players must touch enemies with their sword. The game features endless levels which would only end once their health bars are completely depleted.

Success in the game requires quick reflexes, as many monsters might appear all at once, so timing your jumps and getting the jump on them is very essential. Aside from fast reflexes, there are also enemies that can only take damage if they are turned away from you, so try to make good use of the attack from behind tactic, and learn to run away whenever the situation calls for it.

Game Modes

Players can select different difficulties, which include the Advanced Mode as well as the Boss Rush Mode. However, these are locked initially and players will be able to unlock them using Fame Points.

Merchant

The merchant can be found in certain places while the area is being explored. They will be able to sell you attack upgrades, armor, as well as items that will regenerate your health. You can exchange coins for these particular items. Purchasing from merchants is integral if you want to last longer especially when there are already stronger monsters present and you do not have a lot of health left. Of course, players can also settle for drops from fallen enemies if they do not have the necessary funds.

Fame Points

Fame Points are the form of currency within the game. This is used to purchase items in the tavern as well as unlock the other game modes available within Slayin. Fame Points are earned by completing quests, which are specific to each character, but may also share certain similarities. Alternately, Fame Points may also be purchased using real life currency if you want to acquire items early.

Death

Once your health bar is completely depleted, all the coins that you have gathered will be lost. If you are able to reach a high score, this will be displayed in the graveyard where your highest level and score are indicated. You can also see your ranking among friends who are also playing the game. upon death, you will have to start from the beginning if you want to play again.

Tavern

The tavern is where players can purchase items that will change the appearance of your heroes as well as your gravestone. These are purely cosmetic in nature, and will not affect your performance in the game. However, one interesting item to note is the Dragon Scale, which actually allows players to continue playing the game after they die. All items in the tavern may be purchased using Fame Points collected during quests. However, it is recommended that you skip on the aesthetics and focus more on unlocking character and game modes if you do not have a lot of Fame Points in stock.
