At first glance, Blek might seem a bit too easy. After all, how hard is it to draw a line across dots? Once you play this app, however, you will be able to see a whole bunch of complexity within the game due to its simple yet grueling rules. There are sixty levels in all within the title, but making it even half past that is definitely going to be a challenge…and will cause quite a few hairs to get ripped out! Save your scalp and all the effort by reading through this guide which will help you get through most of the more difficult points within the game.
Gameplay
Blek is a puzzle game where in the goal is to have a line go through all colored dots on the screen. This can be done by drawing a pattern on the screen, and doing one of three actions will then “release” the line and it would repeat the pattern that you have drawn until it has reached either the top or bottom of the screen, or if the line touches any black circles. The stage can be repeated instantly by tapping on the screen while the line is running, and players must be able to complete the current stage before the next level opens up.
The Rules
Blek follows this very simple rule – the game repeats your drawn pattern over and over until the line hits the upper or lower boundaries of the screen or if it touches any black dots. Players will be able to control the speed and direction of the pattern, and they can draw in wild twists and turns aside from the usual arches or squares. Players also only have ten seconds to draw, after which the line will be automatically released.
Tips and Tricks
Try and be slow and deliberate when it comes to your drawings. Remember that you have ten seconds to lay everything out, and you can always repeat whenever the time runs out. you will be able to survive with the usual loops and arches at first, but soon you will find that these would no longer work at latter stages, in any cases, don’t forget to experiment, especially if you spaces with lots of white space.
Of course, being meticulous will also help especially if you will be working with limited space. This holds true especially when you are doing loops or straight lines. Even the slightest deviation will have your line careening away room from your intended target, so be very particular in the shapes that you are drawing,
If you are particularly OCD, then the best that you can do is grab a sheet of paper and plot out your projected path. From there, see if the pattern will be able to fit any of the white space available. If it does, then all you have to do is copy the pattern onto the screen and then lead the line so that it would start in the exact space that you want it to. Using thin paper or writable plastic is best if you want to try out this strategy.
Also, remember that, sometimes, puzzles may even be solved by a single line. If you are accurate enough, you can draw a single line and have it bounce around the walls. You can also do tight loops that will repeat over and over until you either win or if something makes it stop. Take advantage of the left and right walls to hit dots. Just make sure that you steer clear of those black ones.
Speaking of the black dots, they are actually able to benefit you rather than hinder your progress. In some stages, these black dots actually serve as guides that will help you find the pattern that will clear the level. In most cases, you will be working around these areas when drawing the pattern that you want, and all you have to do is lead your line towards the intended starting point before letting go. take note also that some levels will require you to actually draw over your lines just so you would be able to get into a better position to hit that last dot.
Sometimes, timing also comes into play, especially in levels where some dots are moving. In these cases, oftentimes hitting those particular dots will cause a smaller dot to shoot out, hitting other dots in return. Time these accordingly so that all your targets are aligned. In these levels, most of the time, all you need to do is hit one or two dots to set off a chain reaction that will be able to remove all of the targets from the board.
Portals will also play a factor within the game. Portals can be created by drawing a complete circle. Players can create many of these before drawing a line. Portals work as you might imagine they should, as lines that pass through one will come out of the other. Portals can be used to help you complete levels, although using them is completely optional and all levels can actually be solved without using this strategy.
Last but not the least, make sure that you mentally catalog all of the patterns that you have drawn. Sometimes, your last solution isn’t completely wrong as all you have to do is to make a few adjustments here and there. Try and adjust your line for a few more attempts before completely abandoning your strategy and trying a new one. Most of the time, all it takes is a slight change in angle or a tighter loop to make everything work out.
Blek is certainly a frustrating game, but those with good spatial awareness or those that enjoy a different kind of puzzler will definitely find this game pretty enjoyable. It’s a very mentally stimulating game that is also very rewarding to finish, and hopefully all who have read this guide can use the tips mentioned within to blow through all sixty levels of this extremely challenging title.
